    Hello Cirssy,

Your computer stops on its own.

    Do a hard reset.

    Turn off the computer.

Remove the power cable and battery.

Hold down the power button for 15 sec while booth energy sources are deleted.

This should reset the hardware in the computer.

That you put it on press the F10 key. This will load the BIOS setup utility.

Press F9 to load the default values.

Press F10 to save and exit.

When the computer starts up, check if everything is working.

If it is still at the age of one year I give HP a call so that everything is still under warranty.

I would like to know how everything goes.

    Nice day.

  • After the updates of windows, the computer stops responding with a black screen at startup of the system

Original title: Windows XP does not start after the update, no error message

Has made no changes to the system, but the last thing that happened was an update of Windows security on stop.

Now when I boot, the BIOS p.o.s.t. shows good HDs, good DVD-Rom, RAM, but Windows never starts, goes just a black screen, HDs are not accessed.

-F8 does nothing, can't use the last known good Config or Mode safe

-Change boot order in the BIOS to boot from the Windows XP DVD, hoping to get the recovery console, but the same thing: black screen, no attempt to spin-up DVD or HDs.

-Removal of mobo battery to reset the CMOS, no joy.

-Checked and re checked all connections inside.

-Stripped devices and added one at a time, no joy.

-Traded-in an old video card in case it was difficult to generate the higher res gfx, no joy.

I was construction/upgrade / repair my own PC for 3 decades and can usually solve the problem and fix it myself, but this one me completely baffled.

    Any suggestions?

  • Computer stops during startup, Vista crcdisk.sys

When I try to turn on my computer, I get a screen saying that Windows is not shut down properly. It gives me the opportunity to launch startup repair or start windows normally. With option, I get the black screen with the green bar for maybe 3-4 seconds before my computer turn off suddenly. I tried to hit f8 and have advanced boot options. With one of the security modes selected, I see loading files. The last file I see is crcdisk.sys and then the computer shuts down. I thought maybe it was a start power supply problem but by replacing the power supply did not solve the problem.  I tried to boot from the disc of the operating system that came with the computer, after "loading windows files" it does the same thing and stop at the black screen with the green bar. I downloaded a Vista recovery disk and tried to boot from that, same result.

Ideas/suggestions on how to solve this problem would be appreciated.

Looks like you have a hardware problem - most likely with your hard drive, but perhaps also something else.  I recommend that take you to a repair shop of computer with a good reputation for the service (NOT Geek Squad or any company like that).  Or you can send it to the manufacturer for service (compare costs, benefits, schedule, availability of parts, effort, reliability, and anything else feel you is important and make a decision).  If you can, try to back up your data first, as it is likely the drive will be wiped clean in the process.

You can use Knoppixhttp://www.knopper.net/knoppix/index-en.html with a good ISO as Copier: http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm as well as a blank CD (made on a different computer).  Boot this disk.  This should give you enough access to the system (if you do not have any other means) to backup your important data.  If this does not work, try to remove the hard drive and it enslavement to another computer and use this computer to access the drive and back up the data.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!
