Computer won't mode standby under Vista

My computer never goes into sleep mode or never, my screen goes black. My computer is running continuously. It sometimes seems that it stops but then the mouse lights up and it the screen turns on and turns without touching the mouse. How can I find out what caused this device or what turns permanently on my computer?

  • Laptop won't mode standby when open Web pages

My laptop (Dell latitude E6510) is not want of sleep / hibernate when I open webpages (Chrome). OS = XP.  If I click on standby, it just hangs. As soon as I close the Web pages, it is, even if I have other things open. He has only started this about 3 weeks ago.  Anything else causes, only open Web pages.

    Obvious questions (for me) are:

You are on the latest version of Chrome?
You have this problem with Internet Explorer?
You have this problem with Firefox (if you have installed FF)?

When you look out in the forums of Google Chrome, have you come across topics like this:

    http://productforums.Google.com/Forum/#! Searchin'/chrome/Eve/chrome/8BbDNAkF_qk/olwEA4Yg830J

There are some ideas here, but this topic is about a month old.

I have not seen this problem with the version of Chrome 24.0.1312.57m (which is what I was running earlier today), then I upgraded to version 26.0.1410.43m

Unfortunately, I got things running for awhile which I cannot test Stand By and Hibernate with this new version of Chrome, until they end :-((hours) and I'm too lazy to go to another system since I can't reproduce the problem.

I would say it looks like a Chrome issue because there are a lot of Internet chatter on this subject, if you search on Google and other beings human he reported in the forums of Chrome recently, so I would check out there and if you find the solution, I hope that you will do what it is!

  • Computer fate of mode standby on its own at different times

Why my computer was out of fashion "sleep" on its own at different times?  Should I worry about malware?  I looked in the Task Manager for the CPU usage and the number of processes running, but I don't know what to look for.  There is a current version of Kaspersky Anti-virus running that updates automatically several times a day, but I do not believe that he "wakes" the computer.  Don't think that Windows Update for this either.  The power fluctuations cause this?

  • Remote access under Vista Home Premium computer

All the instructions I've seen for remote access to my computer layout calls for a different Version of Windows. I find it a bit of a rip off. At the time where the user had a little more control of his machine, if he had the guts to try, you could always find a workaround or solution to another way to accomplish the task.

I wonder: is there a fix for this problem?

I am taking my current office in the Brazil and by setting up there. I wish I can access it from the United States and the thought that I could put in place so I could do. But I don't want to upgrade to another version of windows on it. I'll try to access using a laptop running Windows 7. can someone help me with this problem?

Thank you very much for your answers.

It is a Forum of Vista.  To Windows7 questions, you need to republish your question in the Forums Widows7: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/category/windows7 where someone who specializes in issues of Windows7 and procedures will be more than happy to help you with your problem.  It is possible that your computer in the States works under Vista, but the computer controlling the process is the initiating access and that is why you need to post on the forums of Windows7 (although you will certainly also have to make some changes to your computer in the States to allow remote access works correctly).

In the meantime, here is an article that applies to both Vista and Windows7 that could help with the basics: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/turn-on-remote-desktop-in-windows-vista/.  I do not know thay will tell you more and better in the other forum.  BTW, I have no idea if Windows7 supports remote access or remote with antyihing desktop - other than the Windows operating system, but you can ask in the other forum.  I suggest to use the network, Email and online Forum here because it is above all a network problem.

    Good luck!

  • What happens when Task Scheduler is scheduled to wake the computer from sleep mode

I have the windows vista Task Scheduler to wake the computer from sleep to run a command script. some tasks in the script work correctly and some do not. This is because the computer is "awake from sleep", whatever that means. This is not what is happening, because the tasks that the batch script runs when the computer is actually on, with display and all are very different tasks, it runs while the computer gets "awakened from his sleep", so what happens exactly when the task schedler wakes up the computer of mode sleep under vista? How is it possible to emulate a real awake state with the Task Scheduler to a State of sleep, according to a schedule?

  • Why 2 partitions of OS on HP dv9628 laptop computer under Vista Home Premium?

I was just checking my wife of the older HP Pavilion dv9628nr under Vista Home Premium with 2 HARD drives.  I didn't even know he had 2 HARD drives.  I opened the case to make sure.

Here is a screenshot of disk for system management.  I have a few questions:

    1. Why is there a system operating on each HARD drive partition?

2 are 2 necessary and deleted maybe?

Generally however, the C: drive is not always your primary. This may change if based on the installation program. The installer in this book, could be Raid. This is where the 2 drives are used to create a combined drive. Based on the laptop being adverstised as a drive of 240 GB, but with 2 120 GB drives in it. This is most likely how it was setup. To know for sure you'd have to check to see if this feature is enabled in the BIOS.  Before you change any settings that you would like to make sure that you have recovery discs and backed up all the content. As having the OS on a single disk, you will need to disable Raid in bios and probably to format both drives. Then reinstall the operating system on you get (the one listed as C:, to avoid complications).

This article (from ehow.com) can help with your Bios check, so that you can see if Raid is enabled and if you choose to disable. How to disable Raid BIOS

I hope you're able to help.
