Computer won't open the Task Manager, paint, HOWEVER I would like to click Restart on the start menu.

This problem started a month ago. my computer stopped to let me restart my system via the start menu, so I had to rely on a hard reboot which I don't do often. just recently I realized it won't let me open the photos in paint and every time that I right click on the taskbar and select taskmanager it does nothing. When I right click on computer > properties it just indicates that the Page failed to load. When I download pictures off google it does not show a bar at the bottom of the Save as window to change the name of the picture or even see what it is.

Try to perform a restore of the system before you start, facing this problem.

Press Windows key + R

Type: rstrui.exe

Press enter

Follow the instructions on the screen.

If the system restore is also blocked, you can try to start safe mode and it started from there.

http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

If you are unable to load Safe Mode, I suggest that you scan your computer for malicious code.

Download ESET Removal tool

Burn it to a CD or create a USB bootable thumb with her:

http://www.eset.com/us/download/utilities/

ESET are Live is a live Linux distribution which can scan malware and clean infected files. It runs from a CD/DVD or a USB device, regardless of the host operating system, but has a direct access to the system disks and files. This will eliminate the threats which, under normal conditions, can be impossible to remove.

Download and create your ESET are Live drive

You can also try to do a system restore before you start experiencing this problem:

http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/HT/system-restore-Windows-7.htm

There are some that will hide your files/folders so that you don't normally see them. I strongly suggest to run a scan on your computer with your antivirus/antimalware software. If you need to, you can also use the Microsoft Safety Scanner, it's free:

http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Also, if your files are hidden, check out the following article on how to display the:

I wanted to download Facebook messenger for my office, but it won't work. (don't ask why I want it, I know it's what you thinkthe small bar at the bottom of my screen pops up and had only save and cancel optional.) If I hit, it won't download because it can not open the backup file. If I hit Cancel and then it freezes just straight up. What happened to the "Run" option and why it wont download? It's the same thing the other day, trying to download my songs on Amazon. My computer doesn't have that program to open an .amz file. Once I found a link to let me download Amazon downloader all of this came together and worked for me. It's almost the same thing. • Equium A60-692 - cannot open the start menu and keyboard problem

I have a problem starting my laptop A60-692 and I'm not near the points of service.

When I push the power button the screen goes through its startup routine gives her marching band welcome charge to the top of my desk.
But when I click on the start only the start window flashes for a split sec and remains standing. If I press the windows key on the keyboard I can then click on the start and the start window appears on the screen.

However if I open a program like note book or internet explorer, the keyboard will not and only gives a Bell sound when I use the keyboard. If I click Start, then shut down and click on restart the laptop turns off and then restart everything works fine!

It's very boring and tedious. I'struggled with this for a long time, although it was not like that when new.
Everyone had the same problem or have any advice to give?
    I would be very grateful!

    Hello

Believe me it is not easy to say what the problem is here.
I would like to know where the mouse you are using. Use you touch pad s notebook or external mouse?
If you use the s key to laptop please disable it with FN + F9 and test with an external mouse only.

What about the response of the keyboard? You can also try to test with external keyboard only. Only in this way you can see if this issue has something to do with the internal keyboard.
Please do some testing to see if this issues can be related to defective portable equipment.

  • The turn of my computer in the start menu has changed to Shut Down

Can someone tell me how I can get check it off my computer back in the start menu? I now have what looks like the old classic style of 'Shut Down' with the screen following with a "Shut down Windows" dialog box.

Shut Down using works well but I prefer to return to "shut down the computer. Style Windows XP still appears for the rest, in other words I'm not "Classic view."

I must add that I have just completed a complete reinstallation of Windows XP and did a lot of restoration / importers etc. I'm not sure of what I was doing before turn off the computer Shut down Exchange. I prefer not to use system restore I'd lose a lot of work.

  • Opening of the "Documents" on the start menu

When I select 'documents' on the right side of the start menu and then click twice on the doc to open it, I get an error message that the requested doc not be found.  However, if I open the MS Office application (Word or Excel) and then go to open the document, there is no problem.  How can I fix the problem of not being able to open the start menu?  This device worked well for a long time, but the end does not work correctly.

Right-click on the Documents icon and check the path on the general tab.  Does say "C:\Users\?  Otherwise, click on the location tab and type the appropriate path and click OK, and then see if the process works.

You can also open Documents by clicking on the Start Menu on your name and user then scroll on the left side to the Documents and then clicking on it to open it on the right side.  If you do so, the same problem occurs with the impossibility of finding the requested document?  It doesn't work anywhere in Windows Explorer, but works in real-world applications?  Have you tried other types of files outside the Office (as a PDF)?  The same problem occur?

If this is the case, it looks like there may be something wrong with the Windows Explorer.

Do you know when this problem started?  Try a system restore to a point in time BEFORE the problem started.  Here is the procedure: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/using-windows-vista-system-restore/.  Don't forget to check the box to show more than 5 days of restore points.  If the first attempt fails, then try an earlier point or two.  NOTE: You will need to re - install any software and updates that you have installed between now and the restore point, but you can use Windows Update for updates.

Make a boot minimum http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/929135?p=1 and see if the problem persists.  Otherwise, follow the procedures in the article to find the program/process causing the problem and either remove or uninstall.  Don't forget to put your system in normal condition when done as explained in the article.

Boot mode safe (repeatedly clicking the F8 key during the boot process until the menu appears) and see if the problem exists in this mode.  Please post back and let us know that this information is important to track the cause (regardless of the outcome).

Your user profile may be corrupted.  To fix this use http://windows.microsoft.com/en-AU/windows-vista/Fix-a-corrupted-user-profile.  If that is the only available Administrator Profile (you need to be an administrator to fix this), enable the Hidden Administrator Account (HAA) using http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx?&lang=en&cr=US&guid=&sloc=en-us&dg=microsoft.public.windows.vista.administration_accounts_passwords&p=1&tid=d20f9db4-7b2c-48be-a087-7835dc2a9055&mid=d20f9db4-7b2c-48be-a087-7835dc2a9055.  If you don't remember the password, try nothing because that's probably what you (or seller) did during the installation.  Once that is done, don't forget to disable the HAA to save it in case it is necessary once again and for safety reasons (since people often try to hack into systems using this account).  Do NOT use the HAA as your administrator account because if you lose the only administrator on the system account or it is damaged again, then you're watered. If that doesn't work, then let's try to check your hard disk for corruption and system files:

Go to start / all programs / accessories / command prompt and right click on command prompt, and then click Run as administrator.

Type sfc/scannow, go and let it run.  It will scan and try to correct some of your system files.  If all goes well he comes complete with no corruption, it could not repair (if it has these post of corruption here or try to analyze it to find the problem or files using http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928228.  Try to put all the corrupt files here so that we can see if they can be repaired with good copies of the installation disc (unless there are too many).

While in the command prompt, type chkdsk /f /r and enter and let it run.  She might want to plan itself to start at the next startup.  Okay, then restart so that the program can run. It will scan and attempt to resolve any corruption or bad sectors on your hard drive and remove especially as a potential cause.

If it doesn't (or if SFC detects corruption it cannot repair), we you will need to do a repair/system upgrade using the Windows Vista Installation disc authentic (you own or that you can borrow from someone).  Here is the procedure: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/88236-repair-install-vista.html.  Although this will not affect your data, settings or programs, you should always back up your data before you start just be on the safe side. If other procedures do not work, it is almost certain to work.  You can have a lot of updates to re - install (including all you need to remove service packs).  If the version of the system came with SP1 or SP2 preinstalled and the disc is an earlier version, then you will need to make a record of slipstream as follows: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/151606-vista-sp1-slipstream-installation-dvd.html.

I hope this helps.  Please post back and let us know in all cases (and if the problem persists - try to include the answers to the question asked above).  If you have any questions as you go along, feel free to post back.
