Computer won't read DVD / CD
I put forward to CD/DVD a few minutes... nothing...
I go to work, and then on the drive itself...
I double click on the drive to open the CD/DVD inside the computer and it ejects the disc saying that I need to insert the disc...
What is happening and why it won't work?
Hello Zee3,
Thank you for posting. This happens with every DVD that you insert into the drive? If it is only happening with 1 disc may be a bad DVD but if it happens with all DVD/CD that you put in the drive then the drive may have failed. If this is the case on all disks I recommend to contact your OEM to see if the drive is still under warranty.
Thank you
Jack

Try to remove the drive from Device Manager.
After phone restart the operating system should recognize the drive again.
Maybe it helps. -

Subject: QSI SBW 242 CDRW/DVD not play DVD or BURN a CD (music CD will PLAY) [AFTER the HD FORMAT and re - install}ResponseHello
1. are you able to read any type of file .doc or .txt of DVD?
After following all the steps (including the update of the MP9 for Media Player [MP] 11) below
I can get the drive to DISPLAY all the data from the DVD (Master & Commander 'movie)
on-screen MP11. He plays (automatically) the intro (ONLY) from the DVD music (as when you put it in a DVD player, forward to press PLAY) MP11 shows all of the content and all the files on the DVD and SEEMS ready to play, but pressing on PLAY don't either not anything.
2 , what exactly happens when you try to burn the CD? You get the error message?
Not nothing... He's here
3. How do you try to burn CDs?
MediaPlayer, selection of a track list, made a list of titles, and then click BURN... nothing happens
4 have you tried to play the DVD content in ? windows media player
I had not before, but now I have. Previously it was default to my SELECTION WIN DVD4 as the DVD player (I think I've EVER SEEN the WINDVD format/start page on the front screen - it wasn't the default front DVD player either but don't remember what program PLAYS the DVD, he ' comes of "). Now, go back and see 1. above for MP11 more details.
Try to update the drivers of CD-RW/DVD drive and check. Also update the graphics driver.
I did the entire bottom.
1. click on Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click System.
2 click on the hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or click continue.3 right-click on the CD-RW/DVD drive, and then select set to update driver.
He asks if I have an OEM driver and / disk... NO.. I run the program through...

4. right click on the graphics card and select Update driver. »
There is no "graphics card" on the material. This machine has integrated graphics using a part of the main memory (or other) to run the video section:

How to troubleshoot common problems that occur when a Windows XP-based computer cannot read a CD or DVD
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/321641
Did yesterday. It installed/ran "MR. Microsoft Fixit' with the result:
"Question: media in the CD-RW/DVD drive is not readable" CLICKED top DIFFICULTY... and after computer "worked" on this subject awhile, he says STATUS: fixed. St ill did not. MP9 introduced the format of the DVD player but don't seem to read anything other then showing a list:
UNKNOWN
Title 1
Title2
Title 3 etc., but could not do anything with this list.
He appeared a box asking if I wanted to update my MP9... sure why not so I shut everything down and uninstalled 9 and installed Media player 11.
Go BACK to # 1. now once again. This is where I am. MP11 shows all DVD data, the chart "the Album/DVD cover, all"titles"on the DVD, AND play the track audio 'intro' DVD but will not actually READ the DVD. "
So far it's PROGRESS. We are at a point where it SEEMS at least that we are ready to PLAY and MP can SEE all the info on the DVD.
I see many people on other sites of the same question: Player does not work after FORMAT operating system and reinstall of WIN (and in my case: WinXP SP3 and WIN DVD4 of OEM disc)
Thanks a lot for your help so far... I hope that we can get to the next step and get the reader of CD-RW/DVD on 'PLAY '.

Home Edition Vista won't read DVD
my system will not read DVDs, why? I am not computer savy and I can't understand this at all. Help, please?
Hello
Thank you for contacting Microsoft Community.
Can you clarify your question - if the DVD is not read by your PC (not detect the DVD) or just the video does not play?
If the DVD-video is not played, you need to install a codec appropriate to play DVDs, no codec is available in your system to read the DVD. You can use PowerDVD, WinDVD, or any other software that you like. Once you install them, will also be installed the codec and so you can watch DVDs using Windows Media Player or Media Center.
If this is not the case of many to answer.

my computer won't read or recognize CD or DVD. What can be the problem?
When I try to install a software, play a CD or DVD, nothing happens. I hear a few clicks and a humming noise, but then nothing. I have the default to auto-play. The instructions for the software says to follow the instructions on the screen, but they never show. Is this a driver problem, and if so, how can I solve this?
Hello
Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward

My computer won't read or recognize my CD/DVD drive.
I tried all the solutions on the support page of Microsoft here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060/en-us#top when I went to the registry folder there were no upper or lower filters filters. I tried to manually assign a letter to the reader, but it gets immediately deleted after being assigned. I tried the windows troubleshooting tool. The computer reads even the disc and the mouse has a CD icon next to him when I insert a disc. He jumps up in my computer or ask me how I want the files to be read. I'm on Windows 7 Student Edition? If there is a student edition or whatever the standard version of windows 7 is. I know that I got a discount on it to be a student.

I am currently using OS X Yosemite 10.10.5. I bought in 2009 iMac with Snow Leopard and have to Lion then updated my current operating system. The internal dvd player has worked with much fussing, (insert the disc - closing - turn after a wait - by pushing the drive when he jumped on reboot). If I had the chance after a few hours, the video disc show up on my desk. When this happened, I was opening the dvd player that was in the Finder and the disc would play. I also tried to open the dvd first player and then insert the disc. That no longer works. Yesterday, only it just stop working. The reader still takes dvd and swirls and click as before but then ejects the dvd. Repeatedly stop and restart is no longer works. I make sure that the dvd be clean before I use it and have tried many different DVDs without success. I think it's a software issue. Does anyone have an idea/instructions a nearly dead grandmother brain that can follow to update or redate back to original factory setting to help this poor Smartdrive not so smart?
I have no TV, only my computer and phone at low prices. I need to watch that my library borrowed from the dvd.
Thank you.
Try a cleaning CD/DVD
You can also try to clean by:
How to clean a Superdrive DVD using a credit card!
I suspect the optical drive has failed. My 2009 Mac Mini could not shoot with same symptom 4 years ago.
To confirm a drive failure, insert a Snow Leopard installation DVD and try to start with the C key.
If this isn't the case, they drive could not be started.
I would just get an external optical drive, one powered with an AC adapter. The Superdrive Apple USB does not work without a hack.

Equium A200 - won't read DVD / CD more
Hello any help would be appreciated... I'm not very technical so please keep things simple!
Laptop: Equium A200-1VO
Model: PSAF5E
OS: Windows Vista Home Edition 32-bitMy laptop won't play is no longer DVD or CD
Work ok bootable CD but when I insert any other they seem not be recognized the drive. I tried to play original movie DVD and CD on a Toshiba DVD player, multimedia Realplayer and VLC Player. I don't get an error message and I see "DVD RW Drive (d :))' in my 'work'I searched other threads and followed the advice given. But nothing has worked, so far, I have:
-removed upper and lower filters
-updated audio driver
-update the BIOS
-reinstalled realtek High Def Audio DriverAll advice welcome! Help, please!
Confused chick
Hello!
I agree with Akuma. Normally, it looks like the upper and lower filters. You must then maybe try again and read all the instructions in the Microsoft document.
I'm pretty sure that it is a software issue because you can boot from the CD and so I doubt that it is a hardware problem.
Maybe you should try to update Windows and check for yellow exclamation marks Device Manager.Good bye

Computer won't read or write CD's
My office will read and write DVD - but lately it does not recognize a CD disk. When you insert a CD in the drive, the drive will be clicking on and light flashes for about 30 seconds, then it stops and there is no message. Any advice? I use this computer now for five years and never had a problem.
Hi applebaum.
I've never seen this before DLL file, which could mean that it is malware.
I suggest to run a full system scan using your favorite malware scanning software.
If the reader is not reading/writing on CD but is DVD playback, it is likely that the drive is failing.
They have a laser for the CD functions and a laser for DVD functions.
Each laser can fail and the other format still works.

Satellite P200-1EE won't read DVD
When he was working, DVD automatically play of Toshiba's HD DVD player. Now the disk swirls around a few times and then. Nothing, except for the odd work.
If I click on the DVD player on my desktop, a box comes up saying "the specified drive is not found. Check the setting by going to settings - settings of the shares - Source, or otherwise verify that disk has been correctly connected to the PC.
I have not checked the settings that I have no idea where to get them, but I guess that the drive is properly plugged to the computer he uses to work perfectly.
Any help, or even a pointing direction in will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
Hello
Do you mean that you can not ready no matter what DVD using the Toshiba DVD player?
Have you tried using other software like VLC player for example?I know that there is an update for Toshiba DVD player, but I don't know if this problem is related to the drive to DVD Toshiba or ODD (optical disc) of m.
Therefore, you should test if you can use another software. Are you able to burn something to DVD disk?
If not then a hardware problem may be possible -
I have this CD/DVD which will play normal CD but will not play any DVD (DVD + R, DVD-R). I noticed that the DVD would not work when I was a BONE
RESETTLEMENT. I put in my Windows XP restore disc, and installed successfully. Then I put in my drivers disk that was on a DVD-ROM drive and it wouldn't work!
I could hear the spinning, but it sounded abnormal, and nothing appeared in my computer. Not open same AutoPlay. Frustrated, I decided to get the drivers of
sites of different manufacturers, including the driver of CD-ROM to see if I could start the DVD. Even after that I installed the drivers for the hard disk, DVD will not play again.
Any ideas?

Hi jeremyjones1960,
- How many times to change the region settings of the DVD drive on the computer?
- You are logged in Windows by using the administrator account?
Check and make sure that you logged in to the administrator account and check if it helps.
If you have changed the settings for region of the DVD player more than 5 times then you will not be able to change more.

Hello
I don t know why it isn't possible, but have you checked all other CD for writing?
If this problem occurs with any type of media, so it s best to contact a Toshiba Service partner and ask for verification of the disc.Read CD - RW discs, to a UDF reader software. Discs CD - RW are written in UDF 1.5 format. This UDF reader software can be downloaded from Adaptec "s web site: www.adaptec.com"
This software can play CD - RW discs written with rewritable CD drives that are written in UDF format. Without UDF reader software, CD-ROM/DVD-ROM in s Toshiba laptops can only read ISO 9660 discs.
