Configuration of the virtual desktop

I was wondering if these are the settings you use when defining to the top of your parent VMs for Win XP and Win 7

XP:

Virtual network - Flexible card

Win 7:

Virtual map of SCSI - LSI Logic SAS

Virtual NIC - E1000

In my lab environment I used e1000 for XP virtual machines but I saw in the view architecture guide 4.6 that XP should use flexible

Also, I'm only cockpit view now with about 30 users, my connection to the server should still have 4 vCPU and 10 GB of Ram?

Thank you

Mike

We have our XP and the installer of WIndows 7 machines for VMXNET3 adapter and Windows 7 use the LSI Logic SAS.

Concerning the size for the broker for connections, I think the configuration memory 10 GB is recommended when you have customers of 50 people or more.

  • Connecting the thin client to the virtual desktop

Guys, I'm looking to provide some knowledge of locations to my current View 4 implementation. I need essentially allow thin clients in the room for a particular virtual desktop access, but the user access to all other workstations when they are in a different room\different thin client.

At the present time, it seems possible to connect a desktop computer to an end user and not a customer light name or address etc.

Is there anyway that I can link a pool of funds or office to a lightweight client device so that the bureau is only launched from this location?

    Thank you

We are able to do something like that today.  Serve us our Wyse thin client and when the thin clients boot they go to an ftp site to obtain their configuration files.  The configuration file can be modified to configure how clients view client work light linux.  So, to process your request, we would put in class A on a network that has a config file that will automatically connect to a certain pool of virtual desktops.  In all networks, they would receive a configuration file that allows them to get the menu and choose what desktop Pool to connect to.

I don't know what light supplier customer, you have, but I'm assuming that Wyse is not the only one with a certain type of configuration like this.

  • Black screen when launching the virtual desktop

Thanks for your answer "vcpguy".  The solution was to delete the profile and recompose the link clones (specialized basin).  I'm just assuming recomposing would have solved the problem since that removes the profile completely unlike a refresh settings of I tried first.

    What you trying to accomplish?

Technical details really shouldn't be discussed here. They are better addressed in the Linux forum or forum Real Application Cluster.

The documentation in 11g RAC at http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/rac.111/b28254/admcon.htm#CJHJDEHJ says

"A virtual IP address is another public address that use customer connections instead of the standard public IP address. To configure the VIP address, you need to book a free IP address for each node, and the IP addresses must use the same subnet as the public network. »

In many cases with Oracle, the Oracle product will it create the VIP. In fact, if you work with CARS, you SHOULD NOT create the VIP. Instead, you simply 'book' IP address and the virtual hostname simply by adding an entry in/etc/hosts, and this entry should be in the same subnet as the public IP address.

Example: If the network adapter uses 192.168.2.123 as normal static IP, then the VIP address should be something like 192.168.2.124 and not lies with a ping.

  • Need help to report on the configurations of the virtual machine using PowerCLI

    Hi guys,.

I try to shoot down vCenter virtual computer configuration details and am not having much luck with vCPU multicore machines.

Looking at the lists of VMS in vSphere Client, it offers a column "Number of CPU" basis and does not include any other granularity (i.e. in terms of casings & carrots as opposed to simply 'CPU Count').

I thought that maybe I have better luck using PowerCLI and essentially, the cmdlet "Get - VM" has the kind of information I'm looking for, but I find that it lacks a bit when it comes to vCPU details.  Essentially, it turns out that does not do much better than the list of virtual machines in vSphere Client because it produces only a "CPU Num" value, which is not particularly useful.

For example, if "processors Num" 4, that '4' means?  This could mean one of the following:

    • 1 x 4 drivers
    • Core 2 x 2
    • Basic 4 x 1

I hope someone out there can help produce me a list of virtual machines with details of configuration that includes both sockets & carrots for vCPU?

    Thanks in advance!

    Try like this

    Get-VM | Select Name, @{N="CPU";E={$_.ExtensionData.Config.hardware.numCPU/$_.ExtensionData.Config.hardware.numCoresPerSocket}}, @{N="Core per CPU";E={$_.ExtensionData.Config.hardware.numCoresPerSocket}}

Did you watch NetWrix VMware Reporter?  It will monitor and audit of your VMware changes and much more.  Have you thought about streamlining your authorization center VC so that no one else can reach your VM and more groups specified admin settings.  You can then use the tasks & events to see what activities were conducted by users / specific actions.  We have implemented strict access to our systems of VC and the Strip unnecessary permissions to that effect.

  • Cannot create the virtual desktop in vCenter - No. Found HD

Don't know what I'm doing here wrong or missing. I'm in vCenter and try to create a virtual XP system. Configure the settings for the new virtual machine, power on it starts the process of installation from the XP CD but immediately said that it is not all hard drives.

    What's wrong?

XP CD not drivers scsi for the HARD drive, so the error.  According to what scsci adapter you have chosen you will need to press f6 to install the drivers, and then mount the .flp file.

You can get the BusLogic to http://www.vmware.com/download/server/drivers_tools.html

  • Not available in the configuration of the adapter VMNet8 virtual network

    Hi all

I have HAD the following config:

Virtual Server 2 on a machine with a physical NIC XP

Two comments machines two Ent W2K3 running.

IP address 192.168.1.1 and 2.1 default gateway of 192.168.1.5

Both machines network cards configured to use VMNET8. VMNET 8 configured through the virtual network with IP 192.168.1.5 Editor

The virtual card configured VMNET8 with 192.168.1.5 address in the host network configuration and the default gateway set as 192.168.0.254, that is the address of the gateway for my network home.

With this config, I have had my two virtual on the same network and "Native" computers to the internet via my home network.

Problem now is that somehow my journey becomes stripped on the host. The NIC VMNET8 achieved somehow a metric is lower than the physical host adapter. No problem when accessing the net from virtual methods, but when you try to access the net from the host machine, it attempts to route the internet traffic on the virtual interface on VMNET8 and of course fails.

In addition, the possibility to connect the virtual machines to VMNET8 is not an option in NIC on each virtual machine settings more. I only have NAT, connected by a bridge and host-only.

I spent some time on the issue without success so I uninstalled VMware and removed two virtual machines. After you have reinstalled, I am always presented with the same two questions.

    Does anyone have an suggestions?

    Kind regards

    Hamish.

    Welcome to the forums!

I would say to keep the values by default as long as you have a good reason to change.

    Configure:

I guess 192.168.1.0/24 is your address for VMnet8 network!

    The adapter VMnet8 host to:

no gateway 192.168.1.1 by default, it is not necessary here.

    Comments:

Either DHCP (served by the DHCP of VMware Server) or fixed IP 192.168.1. < starting="" with="" 10=""> , DNS, default gateway: 192.168.1.2
If you use the VMware DHCP server control if 192.168.1.0/24 is configured as network VMnet8 address.

Do not connect to the vNIC to VMnet8, choose 'NAT', which is VMnet8.
