Configure the security settings to allow silent printing

I'm a developer of software for clinical drug manufacturer. Our software silently to print a pdf file using an ActiveX object to open Adobe Reader, keep the minimized window, and then run a line menu item to print the document to the printer. Our workflow is around radiation and we want to minimize the interaction of the user with the software which in turn reduced his exposure to radiation. With Windows XP, the first use of the silent printing emerged from a script dialog box and asks to accept or decline writing scripts. All silent prints instance arrived as expected with no further user action required. However, transition to Windows 7 introduced the different behavior. As expected with the first use of the dialog script pop upward, but whatever the choice, it continues to appear on every use of the silent print command.

I poured the enhanced security features and JavaScript and can not find a way to set it up so that the pop-up only happens once and therefore recalls the selection of users to allow the script.

Any suggestions?

Thank you

Doug

Found the solution. Was to add the register HKCU item manually. Some of my deployments that automatically created the first time that the user selected OK to print. The machine was not. Once I added it manually, it worked as I expected with no dialog box.

  • Can not access the security settings

    Hello

I don't have a password on my computer since I don't don't need one. And in the past, I was able to enter the security settings and allow installation of non-apple software, leaving the field blank password and unlock the feature by pressing return.

I wonder now a password that I don't have, and if I had, I must have forgotten. I don't know what to do to get into the security settings.

    Your help is greatly appreciated.

    Faurie

Well - I found the answer to my own question.

It seems - so that you cannot use a password to connect to your computer, that when you want to deal with the security settings, the computer expects that you must have a password. In other words: you can not have a password.

I solved my problem by creating a password, then use it, and I was able to access the security settings and do what I had to.

    Thanks to me.

What are the security settings to lock a form with fields to fill and still allow someone drive to fill in the fields as as to save the form and print it?

You want to allow someone to open your document and fill in the form (the fields that you have created), but not change or edit the form, right? Here is the answer - assuming you use Acrobat Pro and someone will open the PDF with the Acrobat Reader 9 minimum and more:

    Tools > Protection > encrypt< encrypt="" with="">

    Select YES to change security.

    Opens in a new window:

Do not select NOT open the Document (or will require a password to open the document.)

SELECT: Permissions (check the box next to ' Restrict editing and printing of the document. ")

Change the following 2 settings in the drop-down list box:

    Printing allowed: select high resolution

Changes allowed: select commenting on, fill in the fields on the form and signature of signature fields
Selected leave: "enable access text for playback devices to screen for people with visual impairments.

Change password Permissions (insert a password)

Leave all the other settings alone in 'Options '.

    OK - OK

Again enter the Permissions password (the one you entered above)

    OK - OK

Save the PDF file to apply security [notice that (SECURED0 will appear after the title of the document]

  • Remove the security settings for a document can be inserted in the annex.

I have a document provided by someone to add an annex to my report.  However, the security settings are in place because the document was "signed" and it will not allow my to insert in my report as an annex.  I tried "printing" to PDF and create a word document.  I try to avoid printing a hard copy and analysis 190 pages by making very large file size.  Is it possible to disable the security settings or remove the signature, so it can be inserted?

OK, if you believe that you have the right to use the document, security permissions can be removed by a number of third parties which are available utilities. I use this one: http://www.elcomsoft.com/apdfpr.html

  • What matters to add it to the security settings for the documents folder

    Hi all

This is my first post.  I finally got so tired of not being able to access My Documents files (files stored in users / folder withname/My Documents) on my PC - or on the PC of my friends they bring to me for repair - when a re-install OS has had to accomplish, that I thought I would try adding a new account to the security settings of my My Documents folder to allow these files to be accessible by the new operating system.  Don't you think it would work?  It could be classified as undesirable from a security point of view, but it would do the job?

Comparison of Document files my files vs non - My Document shows that the no - My Document files have authenticated users and users (PC name) as well as accounts of network in addition to the accounts in the My Document files.  The reason on behalf of the network is obvious, but what about the other two?

Which account will allow me to access the files stored in My Document If the BONE had to be re-installed without having the possibility to save the files beforehand?

All hope before logic.  Thank you very much for reading this far.

Thanks for this forest.  I think that on this but I was wondering if it would reduce the level of security too, if you know what I mean.

Assignment of access rights protect you against access by other users. It offers no protection against the pirates - they can easily circumvent these restrictions.

  • Back to link documents button shows the security settings pane

I have a PDF file with many links between documents (links to pages viewed in another PDF format in the same folder). When users have these configured to open in the same window, the planned actions occur: the source document closes (or seems to close) and the destination document opens to display the selected page. However, once that we password protect PDF files, there is a strange behavior. When the back button is used to go back to the source document, it brings back the user appropriately; However, if the user has their pane bookmarks open in the source document, the security settings pane is opened instead when the back is used.

    So, to summarize:

-Connection of the cross-document doc source to destination doc, preferences set for the latter to open in the same window.

-Source doc and doc of destination the two password protected.

-Initial view of these two documents is Panel bookmarks and Page.

-L' favorite user pane open in the doc from the source, click on the link between documents.

-Closed source of doc, doc destination opens as you wish.

-L' user press the 'back' button.

-Close destination doc, doc source reopens at the appropriate location - but the Bookmarks pane is now replaced by the Security Panel.

We would really like to find a way to avoid this; It is a pretty useless part for opening and the structure of these docs means that users will often view them with their bookmarks open. Is this a bug? Is there a setting that I can dig? We believe that this is not the case in Acrobat 9 (I can't confirm, but that's what my client says) but is happening in 10 and 11, as well as in the current version of the reader.

    Anyone can shed some light?

Do not forget that you have here in the community of other end-users. Not the Acrobat team engineering.

as far as I know - it is built in the behavior. Similar to default to display in the thumbnail pane pages on the navigation when a page "insert" is made.

There is a certain logic to it, so it may have been deliberate. As an end user, I don't appreciate such. Some "assistance developer user staged" I can do without.

  • Combine the files blocked on the verification of the security settings?

    Adobe Reader X 10.1.1 Pro Mac OS X 10.6.8

I tried to combine 2 pdf files (scanned to PDF using Preview on Mac) in Adobe Acrobat format. However, it leaves stuck on checking for a long time security settings (see screenshot below).

I checked the security settings on each pdf file and they both are evidence of no security.

I opened the original file using an excerpt, open the print and saved in PDF format under the different name and still I can't combine the files. Is there another way to do this? I searched on Google and this forum for hours and found no solution to my problem.

    Thank you.

Adding Pages is the normal tool to combine PDF files, maybe thousands of pages; the particularity of the file menu is a new tool and not more effective in its results. To combine two files, it seems much faster to use.

After combining files, it is important to use SAVE AS PDF not only SAVE. This not some cleaning, otherwise the resulting file is much larger that it must be.

  • Change the security settings?

    Hello

I have created several documents and converted to PDF. I just upgraded to v.9 and I'm having problems. I was previously using v.6 and could modify the security settings so that a person who views my doc had to know the password in order to print. I'm unable to change these settings in v.9. How can I get a document so that it does not print without a password that I select?

Also, is it possible to create a link? I used to create links all the time in v.6 but may not understand in v.9

    Thanks for the help!

It is possible with Adobe Acrobat.
