Conflicts of the Windows XP antivirus?

I am running Windows XP (slowly) and have a number of security / anti-virus programs currently installed.  One of these is perhaps unnecessary or conflicting between them? They are: Ms Security, install MSN, Ms Fixit, TrendMicro Anti-spyware, Defraggler, Spybot Search and Destroy, CCleaner, Ms Downloader, Speccy and Stopzilla.

All this on a Dell Inspiron 9300.   What can / should I do, PLEASE.

You need an active resident anti-virus software and an active resident antimalware software to complete your profile for security in a decent way.

Install MSN, Ms Fixit, Ms Downloader and CCleaner even not count in these categories.

I suggest a fall: Ms Security, install MSN, Ms Fixit, TrendMicro Anti-spyware, Spybot Search and Destroy, Ms Downloader, Speccy and Stopzilla.

I have a conflict between my computer settings, Windows Live Mail and Windows Live Hotmail/Calendar.  When the computers ' regional and Language Options | Date - short Date Format"settings are set to"dd-MMM-yy"is in conflict with the Windows Live Mail and Windows Live Hotmail/Calendar 'date of birth and birthday' date formats.  Whenever a date is placed in the Windows Live Mail "birth date and birthday" field the date in the field becomes "mm/dd/yy" which generates a conflict in date format.  Enter "mm/dd/yyyy" in the date field of "birth date and birthday" in Windows Live Mail when your computer settings are set to "dd-MMM-yy" and Windows Live Mail passes the numbers 'mm and JJ '.  Is there a solution?  I'd like to see dd-MMM-yy on my computer.

  • What is the Windows Security Center and is compatible with Avast antivirus Protection?

I installed a paid for version of Avast on my Windows XP computer. (I won't be upgrading to a more modern version of Windows.)

I also called Windows Security Center.

Is the Windows Security Center virus protection, or is it simply a place to control and discover whatever you have antivirus protection?

If it is a virus protection, it would hurt Avast and if so can I uninstall it?

If I removed Avast and didn't have Windows Security Center, I should any type of protection against viruses on my computer?

The only type of protection against viruses in addition to Avast, I am sure that I have on my computer is Windows Firewall. I turned that off and am now strictly protected by the firewall of Avast. Windows Security Center notifies me of cannot have two firewalls upwards at the same time.

If Windows Security Center antivirus protection it would do no harm to leave it on if the firewall is disabled and Avast is installed? Part of Windows Firewall Security Center Windows or another program?

    Guesses are welcome. Thank you.

    Hey there Clinton!

I've identified two questions here, your normal text questions and my answers in bold:

Is the Windows Security Center virus protection, or is it simply a place to control and discover whatever you have antivirus protection?

Windows Security Center is not a virus protection it's just simply a place to control and view the status of the installation of malware * protection software, but also the firewall on your computer.

Part of Windows Firewall Security Center Windows or another program?

Windows Firewall is a separate component.

Does Avast! Damaged, if I have another antivirus running program?

It is not clear what might happen, but software may conflict with each other and may not work as expected.

I hope that I have answered all your questions!
    Sincerely,
    -Alex

    * - Malware is the generic term for all malicious software in the calculation. The virus is actually a sub-category.

during the windows vista pack 2 update my antivirus will become obsolete?

    Hi victor,

It would be useful to know the name and the version of the antivirus program that you use. However, in general (and frankly I can't think an exception) upgrade Vista SP1 to SP2 will not make your out-of-date antivirus.  In fact, it will improve the overall security of your system.  But just to be on the good side, I suggest that you update your AV software once you have completed the upgrade to SP2 and installed all the additional Windows updates which will become available once you do this (and you may need to run a few times to get everything as some may be presented until others have been installed).

If you want suggestions of security software, please post your version of Vista (e.g., 32-bit Vista Business) as well as the names and versions of any software security you are currently using or have used or had installed even if you've never used (and when the definitions for the software in use have been updated).  These suggestions will be excellent and work well together (even if you can not install two AV programs at the same time, these are not all the AV programs but still aid in the detection and removal of malware, viruses and spyware.  And they are all completely FREE - nothing we suggest will not cost you even a penny and that they will be as good if not better that people pay money to get the bits.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

I have an Asus computer with windows 7 installed. My internet provider is verizon fios, and this problem does occur at home with my computer. Other computers or devices work fine on the network. I get a message that says: there is an IP address conflict. I rest and renewed my IP address through cmd with no luck. I found that if I troubleshoot the network by clicking on the red x, recover the wireless connect 2 and it will work for a period of beginning of disconnect and reconnect. I'll try to diagnose the problem to get the error message of 2 wireless connection doesn't have a valid configuration. I tried everything in the forums for weeks without success. Cmd prompts including changing DNS, Hello settings, but nothing has worked.

  • Problems with macros on the conflicts of the mouse with windows shortcuts

    Hello!

I just bought a Logitech G930 wireless mouse to use in my mmo games. The mouse has 13 programmable buttons and I use most of them to bind the different tricks to use in games.

However, when using a few things related to CTRL-1, 2 and 3, it does not work as I intended. When you press the makro and bind for CTRL-1, for example, I am thrown out of the game and face the screen to change windows. CTRL-2 set up a Web page, Google search in my case. The desired function is not the case in the game at all.

I tried to find a way to disable shortcuts in windows vista, but only to find instructions on how to disable those using the Windows key.

  • The free AVG antivirus program disables the Windows Firewall? Is it safe?

I have Windows 7.  After you download the program AVG free anti-virus, the Action Center tray icon will display a warning indicating that the Windows Firewall is not enabled. After checking the Windows Firewall settings in the Control Panel, this message appears: "Windows Firewall is disabled or badly adjusted upward.  If I click to re - turn on the Windows Firewall, the center of the Action WARNING disappears.  I don't think that there is a firewall that is included in the free version of AVG.  Is it safe to leave the Windows firewall stops?

No, it is not without danger. You should have a firewall running. A firewall running on the PC, such as WIndows firewall or a firewall on your router, or preferably both.

I don't use AVG can not tell for sure re its features recent firewall, but at the time where I use it on an old PC it doesn't have a firewall in the free version.

Which AVG have you loaded, AVG9, 2011, 2012? and where did you?

You can test your firewall here (or similar sites) click https://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2 go ahead and run the common ports to test (at least). If the firewall is running ports report . If they bring or then it is not running.

    Hi EmogeneHutchinson,

    ·         Did you do changes on the computer before the show?

    ·         You install updates?

    ·         What is the full error message?

    Follow these methods.

Method 1: Temporarily disable the security software.

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time that your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Method 2: Put the computer in a clean boot State to see if there is a software conflict as the clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

Note: After completing the steps in the clean boot troubleshooting, follow the section How to configure Windows to use a Normal startup state of the link to return the computer to a Normal startupmode.

After the clean boot used to resolve the problem, you can follow these steps to configure Windows XP to start normally.

    (a) click Start, run.

    (b) type msconfigand click OK.

    (c) the System Configuration Utility dialog box appears.

    (d) click the general tab, click Normal startup - load all services and device drivers and then click OK.

    (e) when you are prompted, click restart to restart the computer.

Method 3: You can also manually install updates (KB number) by downloading from the Microsoft Download Center.

We asked you (I have the feeling that you were) If you have one of the following AVs (antivirus), installed in your machine?
    Norton
    McAfee
    AVG
    Windows Security Essentials

If the answer is Yes, then you do have a problem, that the AVs are supposed to close Windows Defender. It is because they have their own advocates and 2 defenders running at the same time will create conflicts as well as redundant.
