Confusion with Windows 7 networking

I use Windows 7 Professional to set up a new network in my office.

I have a previous network which was on a Win 2000 Server and using PC on XP Pro.
I can connect my computer Windows 7 Professional and I can see my old network and 5 computers XP Pro on this area.
I feel that I have to create a new professional network on my Windows 7 machine.
Is there a way to simply 'patch' in the previous network?  Or is there a problem feature?
I'm not an expert user, so I don't know if I use good jargon.
Thank you
AS

  • Unusual problem and confusion with Windows 7 and Dropbox

It is an unusual problem and confusion between Windows 7 and Dropbox. Here are the main elements of the problem.

    1. the dropbox on my PC Windows 7 folder contains a folder named Desktop which contains the same data files and records as the normal desktop folder in Windows 7.

    2. we know do not how the desktop folder got in the Dropbox folder. It was certainly not the intention, so I want to get rid of it.

    3. the desktop to Dropbox folder is the owner or the folder Desktop PCs (see screenshot). Sist icon desktop folder in the desktop in Dropbox folder icon.

    4. as a result, delete a file or a folder in the desktop in Dropbox folder also deletes this file or folder in the folder of desktop PCs.

    5. If the desktop folder in the Dropbox folder is removed, and then click the folder of the Office on the PC, an error message appears indicating that the Office file is not found and that there the path is:

C:\Users\Chris\Dropbox\Desktop (see screenshot). This suggests that the folder Desktop PCs is a 'child' of the desktop folder in Dropbox.

6 restore the desktop folder in Dropbox makes the Desktop PCs accessible folder again.

    7. the PC been temporarily separated from my dot com Dropbox account.

    Please notify. Sincere thanks, Chris.

    Hi Paul,.

Thanks for the link, I was able to download AR816X_V.0.14.15_WHQL.

The driver works for Windows 2008 Server R2.  I just need to find the drivers for the wireless card.

  • I'm trying to uninstall iTunes from the PC with Windows 7, but get a message "the feature you are trying to use is on a network unavailable resource." How to get around this? (Apple don't give customer service!)

For the third time! I'm trying to uninstall iTunes from my PC with Windows 7 Home Edition premium as the statement on Apple's site, but get a message "the feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable." I'm then offered a chance to "try again or enter a different path to the folder that contains the package"iTunes6464.msi installation in the box below. " With my limited knowledge, I can't find such a record.

For general advice, see troubleshooting problems with iTunes for Windows updates. Start by Missing MSI errors .

The steps described in the second case are a guide to remove everything related to iTunes and then rebuild what is often a good starting point, unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach.

Review the other boxes and other support documents list to the bottom of the page, in case one of them applies.

More information area has direct links with the current and recent buildings if you have problems to download, must revert to an older version or want to try the version of iTunes for Windows (64-bit-for old video cards) as a workaround for problems with installation or operation, or compatibility with QuickTime software or a third party.

Backups of your library and device should be affected by these measures but there are links to backup and recovery advice there.

  • Age of Empires 2 cannot host the game with Windows 7, Server networking DirectPlay

I recently installed Age of Empires II: The Conquerors Expansion on Windows 7 Ultimate RC1 at home.

This game does not work on Windows 7 with some work. First color is screwed up because it runs using 256 colors. Killing the task of 'explorer' in the Task Manager, while the game is running fixed that.

My new problem is that I can't host a game in network on Windows 7. I've done some packet sniffing and I think it has to do with Directplay Server does not properly.

    According to Wikipedia

    • In Windows Vista , DirectPlay has been deprecated and DirectPlay Voice and NAT Helper of DirectPlay have been removed.

I can join Games hosted on a Windows XP with Windows 7 machine, but I'm not able to host my own games.

At work, we all use Windows 7 to play after hours is not possible because we do not have an XP machine to host the game.

How can I me Directplay specifically Directplay Server run on Windows 7?

I tried AOE2 running in Compatibility Mode for XP SP2 as it as an administrator.

    Kind regards

    Joey

If, after upgrading two machines Windows 7 Beta to Windows 7 Professional Retail, I managed to get the machines to see after turning off UPnP on the router. I guess AOE2 is the ad itself and the router it's treat as UPnP.

  • MP560 on a Mac OS x networking with Windows 7, recognizes the network but does not print text

I have a Canon Pixma MP560 connected to a MacBook Pro with OS 10.9.5 which is wire connected to the network via a modem from Time Warner Arris TG862 to a Dell Latitude E6410 laptop computer and a desktop computer, Lenovo, which have two Windows 7. The printer is the USB cable connected to the MacBook and works very well. On the Mac in System Preferences > sharing, printer sharing is enabled, the MP560 put highlight and users > 'everyone can print. " and the system of preferences > printers, Scanners & "share this printer on the network" is selected. On the Lenovo and Dell, I installed Hello, and both can 'see' the MP560 and file > print on both, the printer is recognized and activated. BUT she shoots a white sheet; the text is not printed. Obviously there is something that I did not, any box I've unchecked. I'd appreciate any ideas! Thank you.

A few days after posting here, I asked this question on another Canon Website and learned that in similar circumstances to mine described here, Canon recommends that the MP560 "be connected to your Windows computer then shared to your Macintosh', rather than, as in my case, saw the MP560 connected to the Mac and then sharing with Windows computers.

  • Error read-only during the Windows XP networking with a Windows Vista-based computer

Help, please.  We have set up a working group, the destop with Windows XP behaves as the server and laptop with Windows Vista is the other computer.

We can share and open all files.

The problem is with a mortgage loan software. (Chalice)  On the Vista computer, when you try to open a file, we get the error "the file is used by someone else.  You want to open the file in read-only Mode? "We have worked with their Tech Support who insists on the fact that it's a Microsoft set up the problem with the server computer.  In their diagnosis, they say that the cause may be "the server has locked files or you don't have full access to the records.  Their Technical Support remotely connected to our two computers and verified that we have the network set in place correctly-"everyone" has full control of the files.  Both computers have disabled the Windows Firewall.  How can I check if the file is locked by the server?  And why would he block specifically for mortgage loan software?  Any other troubleshooting help would be most appreciated.  They have guaranteed that this software can run on both Windows XP Vista computers & a set.

Another question - when I right click on the folder that this error message, and then click Properties, on the general tab, attributes, the 'Read only' box is populated with a solid green box.  It can also be a check mark or a cache.  I deleted the solid green box and tick, apply settings, but still no luck.  What is the difference between the solid green box and the checkbox for that?

Thank you to those who can help - we are really at a loss!

    Edit:

  • Laptop with Windows XP pro does not connect to the home network. Has been fine with the Linksys router. Updated Netgear router again and now will not work.

Improved the old Linksys G series to new router Netgear N600 - now can't connect wireless or directly with the ethernet cable. Status shows: "acquiring network address" or "little or no conectivity.  Worked through all the options of repairing typical network with no luck.  Also reset router, I tried direct cable modem & shows 'connected icon' but still does not connect to IE.  Another new computer with Windows 7 works great on this network.  What is my next step to repair?

Use a static IP address and see what happens.

  • Network with Windows Home Server hard drive. With the new files that wouldn't be no automatic update.

Installed Windows Home Server 2011 on my files allocatted to share on my wireless network, including a hard drive 2 TB external. Worked well able to watch movies, listen to music etc... As several files have been saved on the external hard drive (800G now) he would not recognize the new content (files or movies) previous content is ok, but nothing new would not reconise. Unplug the hard drive from the PC, pluged into the TV via USB and all the files are there, old and new. My PC is 3.2 GHz 1 G RAM and running Windows XP I was wondering if anyone know what would cause this? It would not be because I only have 1 g of ram?

  • With windows media center on the network.

I have my directv and computers connected to the internet and I try to use windows media center, but it says that it cannot find the tuner when I try to set up the tv. I have a Toshiba A215 with Windows Vista home premium (which apparently has no tuner). I need a tuner since I have everything connected to a network?  My tv wil recognize the computer: I use directv VOD and can get pictures from my computer, but the library does not recognize the tv. I use media center as it seems it would be an easy way to organize media.  I was also wondering if you can use media center or y at - it another way to other internet videos on TV (i.e. youtube...).  I have some suggestions that I'm not a person savy very tech.

    Hello

You will need a TV tuner card for watching live TV in Media center. If you already have a TV Tuner card and you get this error, then update
the drivers for your TV tuner card to solve the problem.

  • A hard time with the drivers for Vista Home Premium computer laptop computer network with Windows 7

OK, I've read tons of information on that and I'm stumped.  I have an Epson Stylus CX6600 all-in-one printer.  I have my Windows vista Home premium networking with my 64-bit Windows 7 computer.  I go to the step where the machine Vista attempts to connect to the printer on the network, then it asks a driver.  The driver file is already on the vista machine.  I installed the latest drivers from Microsoft and epson on the Windows 7 machine and he always asks a driver.  Can someone point me to the exact file name and the location of the driver in the vista vista machine so I can simply copy and point to it my windows machine 7.  I did the updates from Microsoft to get all the latest drivers.  Thank you.

You do not install the Vista drivers on Windows 7 computer.
