Connect Fex 2208 to 6120 FI

Hi all

Is it possible to connect a chassis with modules e/s 2208 to a system with fabric UCS 6120 interconnections? If its possible, we need to update the firmware of UCSM 2.x?

Thank you

Kassim

Hello Kassim,

Yes, they are compatible.

http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/prod/collateral/ps10265/ps10276/data_sheet_c78-675243.html

And, Yes, we need code of 2.0.x on FI for 2208 module e/s.

  • The relationship between C-200 and 6120XP

    Hi all

I set up a lab of the UCS enviroment fot our society. I have 6 servers of C-200 M2 (only with the ports of 2x1Gig LOM) couple of blades and 2 x 6120XP x. I have no problems on the connection of chassis to 6120.But, I have a few questions about the connection of the 6120 C-200 servers.

I want to use 1Gig LOM ports for traffic data so I need to use some type of (or type in) SFP + for the creation of links between c - 200-6120.

or I can do something else.

for now, I have no FEX or other solutions. We ordered and waiting for delivery.

    Hey Burak,

For the integration of series C, you must have the FEX to which LOM plug ports for server management and then ports 10 gig (to an ANC) on the 6120 for the data path.

Without the FEX you will not be able to connect them to the 6120.

  • HP 6120 t BIOS does not recognize the second IDE hard drive connected via IDE-SATA controller

    Hello

HP 6120 t (vista) BIOS does not recognize the second IDE hard drive connected via IDE-SATA controller. The other SATA disk and the DVD player came with the machine.

I hooked my old 200 GB Hitachi drive via the controller. I also put the jumbers in the present as a slave. I also took the original WD drive and just connect the IDE hard drive. BIOS do not show any drive at all.

I would try something possible at this time I have a lot of my data on the old disk.

    Thanks appreciate any suggestion.

Try to enter the BIOS and I believe under change of Advanced menu of SATA to IDE or Enhanced.

You need to do when you install Windows XP or you will get a blue screen and it does not start.

Don't forget chang back when you put it in your drive home hard sata.

  • Connection Cisco UCS 6120 FI directly to Cisco Catalyst 6500?

I watch a lot of design with the Cisco UCS solution guide and everywhere it is Cisco Nexus 5000/7000 connects to the uplink ports of Cisco UCS 6120 FI with the benefits of technology to the vPC.

How about connect Cisco UCS 6120 FI directly to 10GE ports in Cisco Catalyst 6500 (without VSS and VSS)? It is possible to design?

If I use C6500VSS there will be port-channel of the aggregation of the UCS Nx10GE all the bandwidth?

And what happens if I use C6500 (without VSS) - how it will be on the many links between UCS and two boxes C6500? It will be blocked by STP? A little on the other?

Please explain to me, because we have only C6500 switches in our data center and want to test a Cisco UCS schassis.

Yes, you can connect the 6120 s to cat6500s with or without vs. With VSS, you get a vPC as port channel where 2 links to a single 6120 can be connected to different 2 6500 s in a port LACP-channel.

VSS is not necessary, you can connect a 10 G uplinks / 1 G of 1 or more of a 6120 at cat6500s. I you have 2 cat6500s (non - vss) and 2 uplinks by 6120, then you want to connect 1 cat6500-1 and the other to cat6500-2. I would recommend going ahead and creating a single port-channel port so that you can easily add the uplinks in the furture without interruption of service.

    Ideally, for non - vss, I would have 4 10 uplinks by 6120; 2 in a channel port cat6500-1 and 2 in a port in cat6500-2 channel

I don't think that if you need the Ethernet107/1/47.21 you already have L3 vlan 202. You can just do port Ethernet107/1/47 as trunk and allowed vlan 202.

    int Ethernet107/1/47

    switchport trunk

    switchport trunk allow vlan 202.

  • 6120 UCS connect to the Brocade 300 FC switch

We buy a UCS with 6120's and will connect the CF modules to our 8 GB Brocade 300 switches.  My questions are:

1 are there problems with the connection of the 6120's to the 300?

    2. can I have two separate fabrics?

    3. are there potential loop or latency problems as I go to my EMC CX4 of 6120's by the 300?

Basically, any comment is welcome :-)

    Thank you!!

    1. Brocade switches will work very well connected to the 6120. The main requirement is that they support NPIV.
    2. Yes you can, and indeed, what would be the recommended path. Fabric Interconnect will connect to A Brocade, while the fabric interconnect B connects to the Brocade B. The interconnections of fabric or the brocades are interconnected, leaving you with two different fabrics. In each UCS Manager Service profile, you can then set up a vHBA for each fabric.
    3. No loops exist, although the fabric of the interconnections will be set up a small amount of latency, as shown in this link. Tiny enough to be negligible if and as the link explains the fabric is lossless.

  • Connection Cisco 6120 to a NX5000

    Hello

Even if I know the way normal, I should have the FI to connect to a MDS.

But someone has Cisco 6120 FI successfully configured to connect to any 5000 series nexus, which is connected to a storage?

Should what additional steps I perform?

    Thank you

    Andy

Ensure that NPIV is enabled on the N5K.    Obviously, you'll need create all areas & sets of areas like you would on an SDM, but the procedure is very similar. The N5K should NOT be in VAN mode.

    Are you having any difficulties?

  • RAW server host paths FEX & pin Network Port

    Hello

I have a UCS - B Series chassis with 4 blades M2 B200 2 6124 FI connection with 4 Ports of server at each END.

I wonder if someone can help me understand the BRIGHT paths & FEX "pin"?

Here is a screenshot of the RAW paths for server 1 tab:

From my understanding each blade has two host Ports of FEX (right & left) and PIN to FEX Network Ports (aka Server Ports).  Unlike SAN & LAN pinning I can't understand how to specify the Port of FEX pinning or control his behavior.

The reason why I wonder it is because I was doing a Test Plan execution and pulled the right/1 & left/1 FEX silmultaniously Network Port.  This made me lose connectivity to my server 1 that has been pinned to these ports.  I would have thought the blade would "automatically" fail-to/use the following FEX Network available Port, either right/2, 3/right, right/4 or 2/left, left/3, left/4 but that was not the case.

    Can someone please explain?

    Thanks in advance,

    -Brian

Pinning of the FEX/IOM of the blades is hardcoded by the FEX during initialization. It is not configurable by the user. Pinning is determined during initialization by number connects between the FEX and YEW.

Now when you pull on a link between a FEX and FI we repin never links in case of failure. I'm not surprised that you have lost network connectivity when you pulled all the links. If you re - ack frame after pull you a FEX link will be repin connections, but we do ever automatically. Keep in mind that a re - ack will mean that the blades will have a network failure short while connections are repinned.

With the second generation FI (6248) and the IOM (2208) second generation, you can create a channel of port between the FI and the IOM. In this case if a link fails the traffic will get re - balance between the other links.

    So, to summarize.

GEN 1 material than anything is automatically pinned by the IOM. Failure of a link, we hear that these servers lose the network on this fabric connectivity. A chassis re - ack, the problem will be solved but could cause a short on the other servers network failure

Material of Gen 2 has the ability to make a channel of port between the FI and the IOM. In this case by pulling a cable between the FI and the IOM should not cause a failure of the server network.

    Hope that helps.

  • FEX-Uplink Failover, loadbalancing

I would like to understand more of the technology within a vblock
I have a few questions gradually

So I'm out. pls be patient and thank you in advance...

VBlock 720 with the following generic configuration

    Switch 2 x Cisco 5000 Series
    2 x FI 6248
    6 x chassis 5108
    FEX 2204
    VIC 1240 (no Mezzanine Card)
    8 x M3 blade, 2 CPU

uplinks of 4 x 10 G of each FEX to FI (port channel)
uplink of 8 x 10 G of each FI for Ciso 5000 series swith (vpc)

    Assumptions:

    All chassis are completely fill

Each blade has consistient thoroughput of bandwidth, but 6 GB

    1. When the blades connect to FEX A and B FEX, are active active connections?
    2. For exampleIs blades 1 and 5 has made the fallen on the same ports on the same FEX FEX?
    3. What is the method that load balances blade ping?
    4. Assume 1 Uplink fails between FEX and FI, is the uplink 1 on FEX B overexploited.
    5. How the virtual machine decides which ANC port to send traffic?

    She now...

    See online

When the blades connect to FEX A and B FEX, are active active connections?

    I assume you mean of FEX = IOM in the chassis;

Yes the two fabrics are active; all VIC are double hosted the fabric a and b

For exampleIs blades 1 and 5 has made the fallen on the same ports on the same FEX FEX?

You have the choice between static pinning (made by UCS Manager) blade slot to an Uplink of IOM, or set a port between IOM and fabric channel interconnection; port channel is the preferred mode.

Static pinning depends on model of IOM, 2204 / 2208 and the number of uplinks, for example

    2204-4 uplinks

    slot 1 and 5--> uplink 1 chassis

    2 and 6-> uplink 2 chassis slot

    ......

    2208-8 uplinks

    Chassis slot 1-> uplink 1

    Chassis slot 2-> uplink 2

    ......

Pinning static if a rising fails, the fabric slots correspondent has or b, are declining. There is no repinning for remaining uplinks; grouping and multipathing will take the appropriate action.

If you have a port-channel, and you lose a link, no problem, as long as there is at least a link to the top; your bandwidth will decrease, but th vnic/vhba are still in place

What is the method that load balances blade ping?

Don't understand; To be more specific

Assume 1 Uplink fails between FEX and FI, is the uplink 1 on FEX B overexploited.

Yes, in principle. but you will have to design oversubscription from end to end in any case!

How the virtual machine decides which ANC port to send traffic?

It depends on the hypervisor; Take, for example, VMware ESXi and vswitch: load balancing can be configured by switch and / or port-group; important caveat: do not hash IP as interconnection of fabric does not support the Protocol LACP; by default, the original virtual¨port code.

  • Unable to connect to websites win xp sp3

Hi I have a problem with one of my laptops. its an old HP Compaq 6120, with XP SP3 installed, Norton 360 as AV, and I have a DSL for Internet connection.

my brother borrowed about 2 months with little or no access to the Internet, and when I came back I immediately updated everything. The problem started when I saw that Norton began to have problems with update and its SONAR tab has been disabled. I then checked to see if XP has been updated normally, and he did at first, then after restarting, I found myself stunned that it connects to the internet again. so I tried all the tricks I know to repair winsock, tcp/ip and I managed to get the connection works again, but the only thing left that does not connect is web browsers. Can I update Norton very well, but the rest need a URL does not yet connect. I tried to diagnose using netsh diag gui controls and I see a lot of things failed. When I checked the ipconfig command, I get one? for an ip address.

I would like to avoid a clean format and install so if there is anything that can help me, I would really appreciate it

  • Remote Desktop connects then stops after a few seconds

I have two laptops to Windows 7.  We run OpenVPN which I will refer to the VPN server.  The other is the Client and with me on trips.  Open VPN is configured on the Client and the VPN server, and I can connect from inside and outside the network without any problems.  I also have an Open VPN Client with another port configured on a server QNAS.  I can connect without any problems.

I want to run the OpenVPN server on one VLAN separated to prevent users to see my internal network and only sees another NAS.  I also use the VPN to offer our few users (3) the ability to connect and use my static IP address.

I have a router TP-Link-ER-6120.  I can configure the three ports to run in 3 separate VLANS.  When I configure the VPN server works on my regular network to exploit the VLAN1 and VLAN2, I can always connect to OpenVPN and all I want to do works (NAS and Internet access with my static IP).  However, when I try to establish a Session to the VPN server computer remote desktop, I get the login and enter my user name and password.  I see the remote desktop window, open and usually see the remote desktop wallpaper and loading the desktop icons.  Then it crashes.  If he does until I can see the desktop, it automatically attempts to reconnect.  If she makes it that far, it stops with a window that says Remote Desktop connection has been disconnected.

If I come back in the configuration of the router and change the configuration of VLAN for the server VPN is on the same virtual network, I can connect and the remote desktop connection is successful, as long as the customer is located on my network.  If I connect the Client to the VPN server from outside my network in this configuration, the remote desktop will always fail in the same manner described above.  I also have a QNAS on my network with OpenVPN configured and operational.  If I connect the Client computer to the QNAS, I can connect to the VPN server until the VPN server is placed in its own VIRTUAL LAN.

Thus, work Desktop connections to local computers.

However, since a remote off-grid remote office connections begin to work, but are stopped when connecting.

-J' I ping the VPN server during connection attempts and never lose the connection.

-J' used telnet to Server VPN 3389 port and it connects.

-J' turned off the firewalls on both sides and went up to remove Symantec on the VPN and BitDefender server on the side side Client to use Windows Firewall on both.  And then disabled Windows Firewall as well and still no joy.

Is there a setting in Windows I'm missing that allow the desktop connection remote on the LAN, but not enable during login remotely even if I can ping, telnet and usually access the rest of the network?

Is it maybe a configuration problem on the side of the router?  Installation side route is a very simple graphic interface.  I configured for the VPN service roads and they remain in place (one for the QNAS) and one for the OpenVPN server.  I set up a static route (virtual server) for port 3389 go directly to the IP address of the VPN server, but that did nothing.

Miss me probably something simple, but it launched my ass for weeks now.

    Any ideas?

  • Link 93180YC-EX and FEX

    Hi all

    We have 2 93180YC-EX with FEX 2348TQ, NXOS: 7.0 (3) I4 (2).

And we have problem: fex ports do not properly communicate with connected devices.

Like the ports of L3 or L2.

We simplify our test configuration to resolve this problem and use to test a N9K and a FEX.

So erase us config, perform the initial configuration, install and activate fex feature set, configure the port-channel for FEX and get fex module online.

After that all ports configured as ports of L2 (access mode) and use the default vlan 1. We connect two hosts via unique to FEX ports link and they are unable to establish a connection and don't respond via ICMP.

If configure us ports FEX as ports of L3, and connect hosts, we don't answer you via ICMP from all sides.

However, if we use onboard N9K ports everything works fine.

What we have to check, activate or configure to use FEX ports?

    Hello

It looks like a configuration not supported.

Note: The switches Cisco Nexus other than Cisco Nexus 9332PQ, 9372PX, 9372PX-E, 9396PX, and the 9500 series switches do not support FEXes (extensor of fabric).

Hi FEX interface can be configured as L3? The uplink is connected to Nexus7710. Thank you

Beginning with version 5.2 Cisco (1), you can configure a fabric port Extender (FEX) as an interface layer 3 for host connectivity, but not for routing. See the configuration of the Cisco Nexus 2000 series fabric Extender for more information on the tissue expanders.

What are the system requirements for the configuration above to UCS?

I configured ports UCS FI as server ports and connect them to an external FEX with Twinaxial cable. But the ports are the link down. Cable Twinaxial is supported? I have to do additional configuration that we do when you plug a Nexus 5000 on a FEX?
