Connection external iTunes

I'm trying to get an iTunes library that I used for years, stored on an external drive to work with my new computer. I went to Advanced Preferences and entered the right path. Ideas?

Seagate external drive

10 - Dell PC Windows

Change the iTunes media folder location to Edit > preferences > advanced do not control or change where iTunes expects to find the existing content of library - it determines only (in conjunction with other options on the same screen) where are the new additions to your library.

When you say you have the library 'stored on an external drive', this just produces contain folders and media files or the structure of complete and autonomous, library including the database iTunes (iTunes Library.itl file)?  This independent structure should look like this:

If that's what you have, then you can access the library in shift as you start iTunes, then when you see this message:

Click choose a library... and navigate to and select the file iTunes Library.itl on the external hard drive.

If, however, your external drive contains only multimedia files and folders, you have access to another computer that you are using, and if yes can you recover the database of the library of him?  If so, see the turingtest2 on to a portable split library user for a description of the steps necessary to combine the data base of the external library from your old PC with the media on the hard drive in the structure as described above.  Then use the SHIFT-start method to access the library.

Finally, if you do not have access to the previous library database, you can always rebuild the library as follows:

  • If necessary, change the folders to your external drive so that there is a folder called iTunes in the root of the drive that contains the folder iTunes Media content in this (that is, the above structures).
  • But in this case SHIFT-start iTunes, click on create a library.... and navigate to and select the folder iTunes external hard disk.
  • Check the settings Edit > preferences > Advanced -if your external drive appears to windows as (for example) drive X:, set the location of iTunes media folder Media X:\iTunes\iTunes and make sure the options copy files... and keep the library organized... are both checked.
  • If necessary, press Ctrl-B to turn on the iTunes menu bar, and then select file > add folder to library... and search for and select the iTunes Media folder on the external drive.  This will add all your multimedia content existing, leaving in the existing media files, to the new library.

Depending on which option applies to you, once you have completed the steps appropriate and verified that your library is as it should be, use a second external drive tocreate a backup of your library, and make sure you repeat this periodically to keep the current backup.

  • "iPhone is disabled, connect to iTunes" AND "iTunes can not connect to the iPhone because it is locked with a password" error message on the phone and the computer! Help!

So I recently had my password wrong too many times and my iPhone 4S locked out telling me "iPhone is disabled; Connect to iTunes'. And so I connected to iTunes and decided to restore my phone. I finished the process of restoration of the configuration of my phone, but ultimately, it was not even let me in the phone! Once AGAIN he said "iPhone is disabled; " Connect " to iTunes '. However, this time, this message appeared just when I turned on my phone with a black background. I didn't scan the screen for the error message is displayed (and there was no time to be shown). When I tried to connect to iTunes again as he asked, now it says "iTunes can not connect to the iPhone because it is locked with a password".

So now, he said "iPhone is disabled; ' Connect to iTunes' on my iPhone 4S and ''iTunes can't connect to the iPhone because it is locked with a password ' on my computer. WHAT should I do?

As described in step 2 of "Erase your device with iTunes" in this article, you will need to use the Recovery Mode.

Recovery mode is described in this article as well.  You may try to go into recovery mode more than once to succeed.

  • new iPhone7 cannot connect to iTunes: New Version necessary. I have the latest version

Hello. I have Windows Vista on my PC. Just got my new iPhone7. I'm upgrading from 6. I can't restore the new phone to my iTunes on my PC backup because I get an error message: "iphone cannot be used because it requires a newer version of itunes. go to itunes.com... "iTunes offers only version 12.1.3 for windows vista and I downloaded it. I have no idea how to solve this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

The download site offers only iTunes 12.1.3 because it was the last version to support Vista. He is one year old and can not support an iPhone SE or apparently the new iPhone 7. Here's another recent thread: 7 Iphone connect to iTunes on the computer. You can fix this by moving to a new version of Windows or Mac that can run iTunes 12.5.1.

  • Cannot connect to iTunes after update to iOS 10

First of all I have to say: Apple software is the same loss of time such as Windows or Microsoft. Since the update to iOS 10 I can't connect to iTunes with iPhone 6 Plus. Message: Please accept the new TERMS. Once accepted, it nothing happens. Login and download on my pc windows and itunes works fine.

When I see the smiling faces at the entrance of the support section I want to beat in every unique face on this page. Apple wants to convey the ease of use of apple software. I do not think, therefore, huge waste of time to solve the problems with it. Another very good example is the WIFI syncing between iPhone and iTunes (PC).

It was my last iPhone and I went back to android, byebye thx

More than the upgrade of the air seems to have issues, whether all connect at the same time or other problems. I had to plug my phone into the computer, update itunes to the latest, published today, then ios upgrade 10.0.1 and it is fine now.
