Connection of a fifth generation iPod to iTunes in Windows 10

Hello world

I'm really racking me my brains on the subject. My good friend has already been browsing these forums to try to find an answer to his question.

She has iPod fifth generation, using Windows 10 and the latest version of iTunes on a Dell Inspiron laptop.

Following an upgrade to iTunes, her cell phone is not able to see your iPod as a device. I can force the Device Manager to recognize the iPod temporarily by uninstalling it and then looking for the hardware changes. When iTunes is open, it gives an error message indicating that the iPod in question is not recognized, then it disappears from this PC.

When we uninstall iTunes, the computer can see the i pod as a storage, only my friend then impossible to download its music from iTunes account. When we try to install an older version of iTunes, it says that the library was created in a newer version of iTunes and therefore will not be open.

What this means, is that my friend is not able to add or change the music on his iPod, or download new music from iTunes library to listen to in his car.

Does anyone know a fix for this or she's going to have to buy a new iPod?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Start with a clean install of iTunes. If it still seems to be a driver issue after that will show the device in iTunes if it is in disc mode?

For general advice, see troubleshooting problems with iTunes for Windows updates.

The steps described in the second case are a guide to remove everything related to iTunes and then rebuild what is often a good starting point, unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach.

Review the other boxes and other support documents list to the bottom of the page, in case one of them applies.

The more information box has direct links with the current and recent if you have problems to download, must revert to an older version or want to try the version of iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) as a workaround for problems with installation or operation, or compatibility with third-party software.

Backups of your library and device should be affected by these measures but there are links to backup and recovery advice there.

  • How can I connect my 1Connectez 1st generation iPod (original iPod) to a laptop

I have an original iPod and it has a screen old port how to connect it to a laptop and they don't have these kind of show ports more

Not sure what you mean by "display port"...  The dock connector of the original iPod (2001) is a FireWire port.  You really have an original 1st gen iPod, with a (not key or click) scroll wheel that physically turns a circle?  Looks like this

If so, it can connect to a computer equipped with a FireWire port .  To do this, not to connect to a USB port.  There are "scam" products that claim to be a USB-to-FireWire adapter cable, but they don't work; they can even cause damage to the iPod if used.  FireWire and USB work very differently (and even use different power supply voltages); You cannot connect them just by changing the shape of the connector.

If your computer is a Mac (no FireWire port) with a Thunderbolt port, Apple sells a Thunderbolt-to-FireWire adapter.  On a Windows PC, to connect to the 1st (or 2nd) gen iPod, you add an expansion card of a certain type that provides an actual FireWire interface.  For more details, please provide more information on your situation.

    Hi Adam1996,

    Follow these steps:

Check your hard drive for errors

    1. Click Start, click run, type cmd in the Open box, and then press ENTER.
    2. At the command prompt, type chkdsk/f and press ENTER.

Note If you receive a message similar to the following

Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another process. You want to schedule this volume to check the next time the system restarts? (Y/N)

Press y and press ENTER, and then restart your computer.

  • I can't sync my ipod with itunes for windows installation 8

the ipod has worked until I installed windows 8... now when I plug it in, it tells me that there is a problem with the drive. I ran to the resolution of problems and came away with useful info that the correct driver is supposed to be there and that the reader is not working properly. What should I do now? Use another computer for my music? return to windows 7? I've been enjoying windows 8 and never would make me happy to have to go back - and if I can't, I want my money. anyone figured this out? I know I'm not the only one.

In fact, I did. I had to reinstall everything because I got a horrible malware virus & had the intestine of the computer. I decided to move to 8 at the time. Next?

The 'Next?' has been communities of Apple.

Windows 8 works.  If you have installed all the drivers motherboard and chipset (direct card mother/chipset manufacturer - never depend on any embeddable application "for a driver location" mechanism or a third party) for Windows 8 (not ' for Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP or something else, maybe in compatibility mode)-then your choice is to visit the support forums of the manufacturer for the product that you are having problems with.

My father just bought a new iMac as recommended by my brother and me.

He has an older iPod Touch which is limited to run only the e/s 6. Hey Msdefied,

I understand that you have a problem with your iPod touch not appearing is not in iTunes. Let's go over some additional troubleshooting to get this sorted out.

I would start by reset lock folder on your PC as well as to try cables and different ports if you have access to your PC. Take a look at the article below to continue what you have already started to get this to work for you.

  • IPod nano not recognized by iTunes - 10 Windows

My new iPod Nano (7th generation) is not recognized by iTunes (version 12.3.2).  Windows 10 is pleased to recognize the Nano as a USB and I can copy files to the Nano using Windows Explorer.

When I open iTunes and connect the Nano screen Nano said that it is connected, windows 10 tells me that it is connected, but iTunes displays the message "an iPod has been detected, but it could not be identified properly.  Please disconnect and reconnect the IPod and try again. "

Tonight, I uninstalled iTunes, followed the instructions on the Apple support site to stop and restart the "Apple Mobile Device Service".  I also uninstalled the windows drivers, the computer uses and then reinstall the drivers, but the only ones that appear are the original windows ones.

Hard drives - Apple iPod USB Device

    Mobile devices - IPOD

  • 3rd generation ipod white screen

I know it's old, but working well... so far.  White screen.  It is recognized by itunes when plugged into the computer.  Restored successfully on the itunes screen, always white.  Tried the fix with holding home and power button.  Tried to hold the House, volume and power.  Screen remains white.

My question - is all hope gone and I must finally remove this ipod?  It's been great and it's a sudden death - hard to see it go.

    Thanks for any help...

The 3rd gen iPod "classic" has a great sound.  If you tried to do a restore already, its likely to be a hardware problem, unfortunately.

These older iPods are easier to repair because they are assembled from items separated and not so integrated and miniaturized.  My work 3rd generation iPod was reassembled broken iPods that I bought on eBay, by swapping pieces.  The screen is not the thing that is broken, most of the time.  If you are somewhat technically inclined, you can remedy.  You can post back for more information.

  • Connection to the server to update iTunes on Windows 7

Hi all, grateful for the advice. I'm trying to sync my iPhone only 6 and iPod touch to my iTunes library on my Windows 7 PC. It's an older version (2012 - I can't see the exact version). The computer recognizes the devices when it is connected, but iTunes is not. Tips suggest that I should update my iTunes. However, this is where I struggle. I get the message that "the iTunes update server could not be contacted. Please check your internet connection or try again later "." This seems to be a common problem and I tried all the troubleshooting tips that I could find. I am connected to the Internet and can connect to the iTunes Store for connectivity is not the problem. I've disabled the security settings and edited my host settings too. Still no joy. Grateful for all of the other suggestions that I could try to fix this annoying problem please.

  • Can't remove my iPod in itunes podcasts

I download Radio 4 podcasts for my ipod Nano.  The part of the subscription will easily and podcasts download without problems.  But when I want to delete a podcast because I have already heard, it remains on the ipod or downloads again the next time I connect the ipod to iTunes.

I change to delete 'manual' on the summary page and then I go to Podcasts on my ipod page.  I click the program, and then make a right click to click on the button Delete.   The program then is more present on the iTunes page, but is often always here on ipod or it downloads the next time I connect.

I see a lot of other people have the same problem, but when I clicked on them, nothing came.

Why not use the built in options to automatically include a limited selection articles unplayed will then remove themselves automatically during the next synchronization if they played?
