Connection profiles have disappeared

I have Windows Vista Service Pack 1 and that you have used for 15 months.  During the last two weeks, I started to have problems to connect.  At first sporadic difficulties but now I can not anything.

When I turn on the computer, I can access the windows in light blue screen.  Usually, the screen has user profiles that I can click on connection.  Profiles no longer appear.  Or closes the red button that allowed me to select.

I ran all the controls available on the installation CD original and all past.

Hello

You are able to access the system in loading safe mode? If so, you must perform a restore of the system to a point before the appearance of this problem. In addition, it wouldn't hurt to run sfc/scannow from a high command prompt to validate the integrity of all system files.

  • Connected to Outlook Express and all my existing e-mails have disappeared

    original title: Outlook Express

Connected to Outlook Express and all my existing e-mails have disappeared.  Only those today showed.  I tried using the search of .eml files and get no results.  Can anyone help with location on the hard drive the .eml files?  Thank you.

You won't find files for Outlook Express .eml. They are stored in the format of data in the form of .dbx files.

Two reasons the most common for what you describe is disruption of the compacting process, (never touch anything until it's finished), or bloated folders. More about that below.

Why OE insists on compacting folders when I close it? :

    About file Corruption:
    http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/IE/community/columns/filecorruption.mspx

    Recovery methods:

If you use XP/SP2 or SP3, and are fully patched, then you should have a backup of your dbx files in the Recycle Bin (or possibly the message store), copied as bak files.

To restore a folder bak on the message store folder, first find the location of the message store.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, the .dbx files are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in the Solution Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder options | View.

Close OE and in Windows Explorer, click on the dbx to the file missing or empty file, then drag it to the desktop. It can be deleted later once you have successfully restored the bak file. Minimize the message store.

Open OE and, if the folder is missing, create a folder with the * exact * same name as the bak file you want to restore but without the .bak. For example: If the file is Saved.bak, the new folder should be named saved. Open the new folder, and then close OE. If the folder is there, but just empty, continue to the next step.

First of all, check if there is a bak file already in the message. If there is, and you have removed the dbx file, go ahead and rename it in dbx.

If it is not already in the message, open the trash and do a right-click on the file bak for the folder in question and click on restore. Open the message store up and replace the .bak by .dbx file extension. Close the message store and open OE. Messages must be in the folder.

If messages are restored successfully, you can go ahead and delete the old dbx file that you moved to the desktop.

If you have not then bak copies of your dbx files in the Recycle Bin:

A general warning to help avoid this in the future:

Do not archive mail in default OE folders. They finally are damaged. Create your own folders defined by the user for mail storage and move your mail to them. Empty the deleted items folder regularly. Keep user created folders under 300 MB, and also empty as is possible to default folders.

Disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the CPUs, slows down sending and receiving and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs, account setting changes and has even been responsible for the loss of messages. Your up-to-date A / V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more information, see:

  • Profile of camera in LR3 options have disappeared randomly.

I opened a few photos to edit this evening and discovered that the camera profile options have disappeared.  All that is available are two RTAs ones.  I shot with the same camera and lens I have before (Nikon D40 and 50mm) and I double checked, and I shot it in RAW.  I don't know what is happening.  I am running Windows 7 64 bit and have LR 3.6.  I really want to use the Standard camera and camera Vivid.  Thanks for any help.

I think I got it.  I closed and restared LR and all options seem to have come back.  I hope that this does not happen again!

  • I use firefox 16 on windows 7 with Xmarks and now all of my favorites have disappeared.

I recently started using Xmarks with Firefox 16 on Windows 7 platform. I got some kind of error message (I think only of Xmarks) about "bookmarks". I clicked on the message to solve the problem and zapp all my favorites have disappeared. I found my profile "bookmarksbackup" file but can not open it. I guess I need a JSON Viewer. I downloaded an opensource Viewer that looked good, but still not get anything that looks remotely to my old favorites. I thought I might be the victim of a virus, but I'm probably just the victim of my ignorance.

In addition, if the bookmarksbackup files folder it contains, you can try to restore one of it via Firefox Bookmarks (Alt + B) > show all bookmarks > import and backup. See also this.

Alternatively, you can also check your account of Xmarks for bookmarks. If it had been transferred successfully in the past, you can install Xmarks, connect to Xmarks Firefox, and then download the backup.

  • Bookmarks have disappeared, impossible to recover

Hello Mozilla community! I turned on my computer, after that I went to work, namely that all my favorites have disappeared. The only ones that appear are YouTube and Google (which does not work because the address is ' https://ww. "for some reason any). When I try to add another bookmark, it allows me to name it, but he never recorded the address and rest just to "subject: vacuum. When I try to recover bookmarks, it says there's an error on every single back upward.

I've tried all the "solutions" they've listed including restarting it, putting it in safe mode, and completely uninstalling it and re-downloading and installing it twice. If anybody can help me, I will be so grateful. I'm about to completely give up on Mozilla because of this. Thank you very much for your time.

Literally, right after that I posted this question, I closed Firefox, then when I opened it, all my favorites appeared at random. I even uninstalled twice and delete my old profiles. I guess that nothing on the internet gets actually removed more, huh? I would remove this issue, but I don't think you can.

  • Cannot set new bookmarks; Some have disappeared; saved but rebuilt; lost a lot more. Help!

Problem has grown gradually over a period of 2-3 days. First of all, some favorites have disappeared from the toolbar. At the same time, 'Bookmark this Page' has stopped working, and cleared from the list "recently set bookmark". When I followed the recommended procedure Firefox for backup and restore, I repeatedly had the message that Firefox could not process the restoration. Then 3/4ths my bookmark folders disappeared. This happened it try with different dates backup. Now, I find that a number of other people have similar problems. Like some of them, my problem may have begun during a restart because of a deadlock in another program. Mozilla's Support system seems far too complicated, time-consuming and circular, and talking to a person live doesn't seem to be an option. If this is not corrected within the next 24 hours I'm trying other browsers, after use Firefox almost exclusively for several years.

I see that you have the extension of Maintenance of places. Using this fact no difference to your ability to add bookmarks, or stop losses?

To test the integrity of your backup files of bookmark, I will suggest you try to restore one or two of them to a new profile.

Since I'm a Windows user, I apologize in advance if this answer is not entirely applicable to your system.

Bookmark backups in a convenient location

Open the settings folder (AKA Firefox profile) current Firefox help

    • button "3-bar" menu > "?" button > troubleshooting information
    • (menu bar) Help > troubleshooting information
    • type or paste everything: in the address bar and press enter/return

In the first table of the page, click on the button 'show in Finder '. This should start a new Finder window. Then, double-click the folder bookmarkbackups . Copy some of your recent backups on the desktop or another location.

    Create a new Firefox profile

Leave Firefox runs. Start up in the Profile Manager using the method in this article: use the Profile Manager to create and delete profiles Firefox.

    Notes:

    • Do not delete anything here!
    • Any time you want to switch profiles, leave Firefox and return to this dialog box.

Click on the button create a profile, give it a name like Test0426 and skip the option to change the location of the folder. Select the new profile from the dialog box, and then start Firefox.

    Test bookmark backups

Firefox in the new profile should look like a new installation of the plant. You can use the steps in this article to test one or more of the files you copied to your desktop (or another location): restoration of the bookmarks from a backup or move them to another computer (use the option of choosing a file instead of one of the dated options).

Firefox in the new profile read and restore the backup?

    Return to your Normal profile

Exit Firefox and look at this article: use the Profile Manager to create and delete profiles Firefox.

When you return to the Profile Manager, you might be tempted to use the button Delete a profile on Test0426. It's a little too easy to accidentally delete your 'real' profile, so I recommend you to resist the temptation. If you don't want to clean up later, I suggest to make a backup of all your profiles first in case something go wrong.

  • Only in the area is visible - all records have disappeared.

All of my subfolders have disappeared from Thunderbird. The folder is visible is the box. None of my subfolders, sent items, trash etc. are listed beneath it. It's as if the folders pane has been turned off. They are not hidden on the other side of the window either - tried. I have "All folders" checked under view/files-don't know what else to do. I use Thunderbird to start my gmail account and then connected directly to my Gmail account and all my files are there. How to change the view so that they come back.

  • All messages have disappeared from Thunderbird Inbox.

All of my emails have disappeared from Thunderbird Inbox. "Sent" and "Trash" messages are OK. I tried to delete the file "Inbox.msf", as some have suggested, then restarted TB, but the mailbox is still empty. My messages are apparently still in the "Inbox" file (under 'profile'), but all the gobblety-gook with loads of codes and numbers. I copy all of this mess, but don't have a clue how it back in my Inbox and make it readable. Can anyone help?

I don't know why the size has changed... maybe I deleted something?

I tried importing and had nothing but issues (details on my previous answer).

I spent 3 days on this now and I'm tired. I guess I'll try using some email recovery program.

    Thanks for the help.

  • Update of Firefox, and now history, open tabs and bookmarks have disappeared

    Hi all

I rebooted and Firefox automatically promoted in 15.0.1 v. All my favorites, history and open tabs have disappeared. I am running Vista.

I tried the solutions on the firefox page, nothing has worked. For example, tried to find the profile file, any file it.

Such a pain that all disappeared! Hoping someone can help. Thanks in advance.

First save your profile, place it in a safe place off-trail of Firefox (Vista desktop will do).

Download an official updated copy of Firefox (it's now 16.x) of

Run the Setup program to install Firefox 16 on the existing version, there is no need to remove any personal information (for which destroyed the passwords and bookmarks).

Run the new version of Firefox, if it doesn't work try to run in safe mode

  • Some user icons have disappeared from the Office

I use a Sony Vaio laptop running Vista business with Service Pack 2.

Earlier today, most of the icons on my desktop disappeared. Who else is shortcuts in the folder C:\USERS\PUBLIC\DESKTOP.  Those who have disappeared are those of C:\USERS\MYNAME\DESKTOP.  When I look in this file by using Solution Explorer, all the files are still present. It's just you display the icon on the desktop that is missing.

I am connected to my usual account that has administrator privileges.  Office properties are set to "Show desktop icons" and "snap to grid".

Earlier today, I installed an update of AVG Internet Security and performed a full scan, but can't say for sure if the disappearance of the icons has coincided with this.

It seems that the system is linking the visible office with the files in the Public folder, but not those in my personal file.

I tried to restore the system to the earlier dates, but this did not restore desktop layout.

Can anyone tell how to recover? Help will be very appreciated.

    Hi Jessen

    Thanks for your reply.

In fact, it became obvious that the registry has been damaged.  I restored the registry to a previous state by using a backup, and that solved the problem.

    Thank you for your suggestions.

  • All my documents (images, music, videos, etc.) have disappeared or been displaced.

So a few days ago I connect my computer to the family and see that my wallpaper changed the regular background of Vista and all my desktop icons and widgets have disappeared. I look in the 'My pictures' folder and see that none of my pictures are there, except for the examples of photos. I go on iTunes and my music disappeared. I went to Microsoft Word and none of my documents work. My sister somehow found them by writing a document name is located on the search bar 'computer '. She found a paper and found where it was. Everything was in a folder called 'downloads '. Then we found everything and she put everything back where it belonged. Then a few days later, I log back into my account and notice that, again, my desktop icons have disappeared. I go to my pictures and all my pictures have disappeared again. So all my music and documents. My sister has tried to do the same thing she made last time. To try to find a document passed and find where everything is, but when she gets in a document name, nothing more appears. Its not not to find one of my things. I lose all my photos and music? How could this have happened? is it possible that I got hacked? And is it possible at all to get back my stuff? I do not back up anything. And all this happened today because yesterday everything was where it was supposed to be. Please help, I'm really confused. Thank you.
