Connection to the printer driver problem

I am trying to connect to the printer (hp business inkjet1100) that is connected to a computer running xp (sp3 pro) to my computer laptop under vista (home prem x 64). That just seems confused reading this way: (printer) >>>(xp/desktop)<(vista aptop).="" i="" already="" have="" a="" network="" set="" up="" and="" can="" share="" file="" with="" no="" problems,="" so="" i="" thought="" it'd="" be="" easy="" to="" connect="" to="" this="" printer.="" i="" was="">

I try to connect to the printer by going to control panel > printers > add printer > network printer > the printer name after what in fact share on the xp computer (the name displayed on the computer to vista so there no problem). While vista has attempted to connect to the printer (bless his heart), but had a problem (no surprise), he couldn't find a driver and asked me to manually find the .inf file. No problem, just download the driver for the hp site, right? Evil.

Apparently there is no driver for my printer for windows vista, however there is a solution. You can use the drivers for the printer series 1000 and basic functions should work (I hope it includes printing). The problem is that workaround tells me to manually configure the printer (port, pilot, etc.), then reconnect the printer to the computer (the problem is the printer is not connected to the computer in the first place).

Now I consider myself fairly well with the computer and fix most of the problems without help (and unfortunatlly end up helping a lot of family with their problems), but it's just annoying. I decided that it's time to call in the experts (from India).

I choose the live chat, because it always seems faster and I haven't had one that had playing music while I'm waiting (some may consider something positive). The problem is that I need to find my serial number and product number. I copy down the 2 easily labled numbers, but that is not good combonation. So, I searched for 'find the product number', and I get a page just like what I get (finally some lucky). After clicking on printers, I get to a page called "find the name of your product." At this point, I give up on the hp site and just write down every number on the back of the printer. Finally the stars aligned and I can start to chat with someone. A couple of auto messages pop up and then he asked me to confirm the information, I'm just entered (if she was wrong how do I live chat?), then continues to inform me that my warranty has expired and it will be $ 25 for support. I ask him if there is any other type of support, and he says that the best he can do (probono) is to give me a link to a Web page on the site of hp (I've been there believe it or not), I thank him for his time and move. I hope that the expired warranty matter here (but if it ignores just this part that was a total lie just to see if you would really help a guy without a guarantee (to test if you were really good people or just simply...))

Thanks in advance for your time

Laptop: AMD, Vista home prem 64 bit

Office: Intel, XP Pro 32-bit (x 86) Home

The following has worked for me, allowing me to manually select the driver

Another method 1. 1. click on the Windows icon > Search > printers Type and press ENTER. 2. click on 'add printer '. 3. click on "add a local printer. 4. click on ' create a new port:'. 5. do not change the "port Type:'." By default, it is selected as "Local Port". Let it remain the same. 6. click on "Next".

7. in the small ' Port name: "window, type the following command under" enter a port name:'

NOTE: Names must be exactly the same. They are case-sensitive.

\\computer name\printer name

For example: If the computer name is 'John' and the printer name is "HPprinter", you must type the exact name with all characters, including spaces.

This is why in this case it would be the following:

\\John\HPprinter

8. click on OK.  9. click Next and complete the wizard. (It will now install the printer and driver) I used the driver of the 7400 series for my 7550 but it works.10. Try to print a Windows test page and check the functionality of the printer. 1 click on the start icon on your control Desktop.2.Select Panel.3.Double, click on the printer icon.4.Select and right click on the printer HP Photosmart 7550 series icon.5.Click on properties.

6. in the Properties window, click on Print Test Page tab it starts printing a Page of Test Windows

    Hello

I installed all the drivers and the software correctly and the printer can communicate with my desktop pc for problem analysis, but when I open an editor like notepad, word, write something in them or when I open a photo and when I try to print, it cannot communicate with the printer. I used same HP print and Scan Doctor in order to study the problem by clicking on the button "Correct the impression", in the program, he sees even my connected printer (usb) or same (LAN), but printing HP and Scan doctor after reviewing all the steps and ticks as ok, when he said "try to send the test page" and when he tries to send it to the printer It does not send and I choose "no print" to see which program will thus be, discover the program this time said "send the in-house test page", and I chose this option to send it internally and the printer works. The program says "there is a problem which can not find this application for assistance. try to uninstall and reinstall the drivers as an adviser"but I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers and seems that there is no error, or any problem with the drivers, but seems that it cannot connect to the printer, even if I can use the scanner of my office and it connects to the printer without problem. What can be the problem? How can we solve this problem? any help would be appreciated. Thank you. Windows XP Professional Edition, 32-bit SP3 is installed on my desktop.

  • Mac OS 10.5 Hello cannot find the printer driver for P1606dn connected via a wired network.

I tried to connect my HP Laserjet Pro P1606dn to my PowerMac G5 running Mac OS 10.5.8.  I have connected the priner to my LAN via the Ethernet cables and Switch 8 port NetGear.  I then properly installed printer driver from the CD provided on the Mac and went into system preferences / Print & Fax to add the printer to the list of the connected printers.  Click on the button «+»  The HP P106dn was listed in the table (kind = Hello).

I chose this entry in the table, and the dialog box immediately went into action: the pullodwn "to Print using" listed the message 'Please select a printer or driver model' greyed and a spinning wheel called 'Search for new drivers' appeared underneath.  The dialog box search but never find the printer driver (I waited for 20 minutes without success).  I installed some other HP printers in this way on this machine with no problems, for example, HP Color Laserjet 2605dn.  Why this method does not work with this printer?

I was able to connect to this printer with other (Intel) Macs in my house through this arrangement of LAN.  Is the printer driver for the Intel Macs only?

I disconnected the printer from the local network and connected directly to my Mac with a USB cable.  The same process, and I was able to connect to this printer.  Successfully print a document page.  Although it gives me a work-around for Mac G5, I need to share this printer with other Macs in my household.

I went on the HP download site and downloaded the latest driver for this printer, re-installed the printer driver on Mac and repeat the steps for the arrangement of LAN (above) complete the connection via the Print & Fax dialog box.  The result was the same: spinning wheel looking for a printer driver are not.

I don't know what else to do, or why this facility will not work.  I would much appreciate it if someone could give an explanation for this or any suggestions as to what can be done?

    Ed

I'm sorry to get back to you on this so late.  I was OOT Sunday all day.

Ok. So, here is what happened.  As I mentioned at the end of my last post, I was in the process of resetting my printing system, repair disk permissions, then restarting.   Reset the printing system wiped out all my printers in the "Printers" pane in the "Print & Fax" system preferences dialog window  I moved forward and fix permissions of the drive on my system disk.  A number of authorities have been repaired, but nothing that I could decipher impression related ro.  Finally, I restarted my Mac and went directly to the dialog box print & Telec.

As the printers pane was still empty, I'm gone before adding the simplest of my printers (LaserWriter 360 connected via AppleTalk) who has always been correctly added to the list printers in the past.  No chance!  WAITED a few minutes everything is was "Looking for new drivers.".  I tried the Color Laserjet 2605dn.  No luck.  Then the Laserjet P1606dn.  No luck.

Thus, this way of solution did not work, and now I was without any driver associated with one of my connected printers.  I decided that I had no choice to rebuild the operating system.  I started my DVD of Installation OS 10.5.4 to rebuild my system (without reformatting my HARD drive).  Once which was finished, I've immediately went to the Print & Fax dialog box and tried to add in each of my printers.  In a few seconds the LaserWriter was added successfully, then the HP Color Laserjet 2605dn, and FINALLY, the Laserjet P1606dn.  Thus, it appeared that my upgrade to OS 10.5.8 was at the origin of the problem.

I proceed with Sofware Update to restore the computer to OS 10.5.8 and again once, went to the dialog box Print & Fax to experiment with the addition of each of the printers again.  Stopping before the acceptance of each 'Add', I could find quickly and successfully the drivers for each of the connected printers.  So, it doesn't seem to be a problem with OS 10.5.8 find printer drivers.

After reflection, I concluded that the problem must have appeared during the upgrade to OS 10.4.11 OS 10.5.4, but it remained hidden until I tried to add these new printers to the list of printers.

I appreciate the reference to the last download Laserjet full feature software.   Since I was able to solve the problem without it, I mind not do the download.

I want to thank you for patiently stay with me during the last two weeks, your advice and comments.  Just having someone to "talk" about it, it was reassuring and useful that I went along to apply each suggestion to the problem.  I tried to solve this problem several times on my own before that, the search of the forums, and I hesitated to participate actively – to reach out.  I'm feeling very different about it now.  Once again, thanks a lot.

    Hello

I have a Windows XP pro (Lenovo) that I recently ran the recovery and returned to certain configurations of 1.5 years. Now I can't add a network printer and get always the message error «Windows cannot connect to the printer or the name of the printer...» ». I ping the printer and all on my network can add these printers, it's just that a machine that fails to add network printers.

I disabled the firewall, but were still unable to add the printer. Then I found some difficulties to register for a similar problem, but they were not useful... It really becomes a big headache, especially Windows restore does not work...

I strongly suspect that 1.5 years, someone has renamed the printer.  Use Windows Explorer to navigate to the print server through My Network Places and see what it's callednow .  Otherwise, you could ask your network/system administrator.  You should know... • How to get around the problem of printing from the printer driver Adobe PDF for Notepad instead of a PDF Document?

How to get around the problem of printing from the printer driver Adobe PDF for Notepad instead of a PDF Document? I tried the tool 'Repair Acrobat Installation' and other problems listed on the forums, but nothing worked. In the Notepad document is the following ' % [ProductName: distill] % X937B6DD4 not found, using the mail service.» X07BB154E not found, by using the messaging service. % [Page: 1] %% % [Page: 2] % % [Page: 3] % % [Page: 4] % % [Page: 5] % X4EEBB81F not found, by using the messaging service. %% [Error: invalidfont;] OffendingCommand: show; ErrorInfo: CharOffsets ss %% [Flushing: rest of work (end of file) will be ignored] %% %% [warning: PostScript error.] No PDF file produced. ] %%."

The log file indicates that the Distiller cannot find fonts and besides, fonts with very weird names. (These names can often appear when printing from an application, WPF such as Internet Explorer 9, 10 or 11.)

My best guess is that the problem is with the options set for the PostScript of PDF from Adobe printer driver instance. Exit the application you were initially impression since. Open the Adobe PDF printer Properties . Then click the Advanced tab. Then click on the button default printing . This should produce a significant window default print Adobe PDF is already opened in the Adobe PDF settings tab. On this tab, there is a checkbox to rely on system only fonts; do not use fonts in the document. If this box is checked, uncheck it and press apply , then OK. Then go to the general tab and press the button Preferences giving the window entitled Adobe PDF printing preferences. Again once, look for the box to rely on system only fonts; do not use document fonts. If this box is checked, uncheck it and press apply , then OK. Then back in the Adobe PDF Properties dialog box main, press apply (if it is enabled), and then click OK. Re-enter the app you were original print and try to print again. Let us know if that fixes the problem.

PS: Unfortunately, rely on fonts system only turned on by default, causing problems for many applications. I always recommend turning it off (i.e., unchecking it)!

    @Lancer3

Welcome to the HP Forums, it's a great place to get help, find answers and advice,
Thanks for posting your request, I'll be more than happy to help you

If I understand correctly the printer to scan does not work after the recent update of the Sierra,

Don't worry, even if the following document does not mention Sierra, the Apple article will guide you through the steps to scan through

    • Image capture
    • Overview
    • Printers and Fax preferences in system preferences
    • Scanner / printer queue

The basics of the Mac: using a scanner

I also suggest to use the Apple Scan while you wait for the HP software update. You can use the link below to confirm that your printer is still compatible with your operating system: software of the printer and scanner for macOS Sierra, El Capitan, Yosemite, and the Mavericks.

Click Start and then click Run.

  • Cannot add the printer driver for Deskjet 1010 on Mac OS 10.9.5

I installed the printer driver on my Mac Mini running 10.7.5 almost without problem (Finally, among the first impressions really get a glimpse of accentes, but that was only once and can be another problem) and it print fast and well. But now I try to add this printer to my MB Pro runs 10.9.5 and he's still that software can currently not be loaded from the server (since 2 days now).

I guess that means that my Mac Mini, which probably only has drivers for the oder to OS X. I also tried to install the drivers directly (downloaded from Apple support pages) but always without success. I always get this horrible message.

He resolved myself: connected the printer via the USB port, which has installed the driver. Then I could remove the local USB printer and use the network printer.

  • Unable to connect to the printer wireless HP D110

Bought a new printer D110 last week.  Turned on, it has detected my wireless router Actiontec (Verizon FIOS) with signal max, and I logged it, using my WPA key.  It appears that he successfully connected and returned a hard copy report indicating that he has passed all the tests, at the address IP 192.168.1.4, which is within my reach.

However, when I told the installer to use wireless rather than in USB mode and entered the IP address assigned to the printer, she returned with a message that it cannot connect to the printer.

I disabled all firewall and antivirus software and repeat this step again and again, same result.  It's on a laptop Toshiba Satellite brand new under Windows 7 Home Premium.  The laptop has had zero problems wireless in and of itself.

I repeated the installation on a 8 years old Sony Vaio laptop running Windows XP Home Edition with all the latest service packs and updates.  Same result, failure.

I checked the software admin to the router, checked that it has detected the printer and assigned to this address.  However, neither the router nor either laptop can ping the printer successfully.  Laptops can ping each other, and the router pings successfully.

I went to USB mode and connected the printer to the new laptop.  Works very well.

I'm guessing there's a permissions/firewall problem going on here.  I don't use MAC filtering.  I opened the port 427 incoming UDP activity.  No change.  Any help appreciated.  Thank you.

You can try to run WIndows Update again and again to make sure that your system is the last and largest.

Also, download the latest version of the software for your printer from the "Support & Driver" link at the top of this page.

  • HP LaserJet MFP M425dw 400 pro: cannot connect to the printer via USB

    Hello

    My problem is as follows:

Since December 2014, the HP printer has been connected via USB to the desktop (at the time using windows 8.1) and by the network to other computers. The problem is with the 10 windows desktop where it is widely used for double-sided scanning.

Yesterday morning I came only to find out that HP will not work in no case with Office for Windows 10 USB - connected, changed the ports that are 6, the cables, the office will say it is not connected. However, it connects through network for printing but not scan, it gives an error about Scanner HP not connected but will scan with Windows Scanner and fax with the printer using the scanner for the work of network folder - which can not scan two-sided.

I uninstalled the driver, reinstalled with HP Support Assistant / downloaded directly from HP, same thing. The problem is that it be increased to 99% on the screen that shows the connection to the printer (the one detecting the USB cable) when it will say:

    "

    Error

A Setup operation took too long to run. It is a fatal error, preventing the use of the product.

If please restart your computer and run this installer again. If the problem persists, please visit the web site of product support for your product. »

I tried the original shipped with the printer CD, it gives the same error message.

If anyone can help I will be very grateful. Thank you!

Too bad! Fixed it myself using the Hp Smart Install supplied with the network interface of the printer.

  • Error message when you install the printer driver

First of all, let me tell you that I was searching and tried solutions for ten days, but can not solve the problem.

My HP P1102w printer is three years old and is connected to my PC via a USB cable. It is not a shared printer. It worked correctly until 10 days ago. Suspecting corruption driver, I downloaded the latest version of the driver on the HP website. When you try to install it, I met with this error message:

Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error trying to install it.

In the printer driver is not compatible with a policy enabled on your computer that blocks NT 4.0

If you know the manufacturer of your device, you can visit their website and check the support.
My PC OS is Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. Let me know what additional information may be required.

    Please sent me useful information.

Thank you so much.you sent slove my problem how.

It seems that the problem was due to corrupted driver files that were not replaced when I reloaded the drivers. I was able to solve the problem by deleting the files in the driver manually. I followed the following steps:
    step 1:
Check out C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository and delete everything that associated the P1102w printer, such as the hp1100.inf_amd64_neutral_56c36f106bed03b4 folder. If I remember correctly, there are two or three similar files that I deleted.
    step 2:
Then I tried * 1102 on the path c:/windows/system32 and removed from files that have been associated with the P1102W printer.
    step 3:
I'm not sure that this step is need, or you need to do this step before the other steps. However, in this step, I ran uninstall. exe from the HP driver CD supplied with the printer. After about 10 minutes I forcely closed the uninstall.exe process in Windows Task Manager because the uninstall process seemed to be hung.
    step 4:
I ran setup.exe from the HP CD supplied with the printer and the printer installed successfully.
I hope this answer helps anyone with a similar problem.
