I just configured and shipped a WRT-150N to my sister on the coast opposite, so that the settings are retained during feeding off the coast.

    I also used WPA2 with TKIP/AES.

  • Cannot connect by Satellite A305 Linksys WRT160N wireless

I have a Satellite A305-S6839 with Windows Vista Edition Home Premium that I tried to connect wireless to a Linksys Wireless - N WRT160N router but I am unable to get the service.
I can configure the router and it transmits properly, but for some reason that I can't connect to it. I tried to reboot several times that the manufacturer suggested unplugging the cables, but that did not work. I suspect that there are drivers I need to download for this operation.

    Someone give some advice?

First, visit the Toshiba support site we and install the latest BIOS and Wifi Driver.

Second, try to change the Wifi settings-Wifi card-> properties > Device Manager. Increase power output, select "802. 11 g-only", turn off energy-saving.

    Try this McKieus

I had exactly the same problems that you described with technical support. I found this link in a post by Basiltoo on 12/15/2008. It worked for me. Previously, I had the x 86 machine error when loading the software upgrade. I have a 64 bit system. There are still a few problems with some of the options, but most of the time it works.  The link is http://update.linksys.com/autoupdate/

I also uninstalled LELA however add remove programs and restarted before I installed the new version. On the new version, he has a place where it asks if you have a 64 bit system. If you choose the download you receive will be correct and you should not get the 'x 86' mistake.'

He seems also to stop correctly in this new version.

    Good luck.

    It worked for me.

  • Can I use my WRT160N V1 as a signal booster/access point?

I have a router Linksys WRT160N I want to use it as an access point for the devices in my basement. The main modem is a century link PK5001A. How could I go to set it up?

Yes cascade would be wired AP.

If you mean you want to change the WRT in a wireless Repeater that is different. In this case, you are lucky DD - WRT is compatible with V1.

    http://www.DD-WRT.com/site/support/router-database

Change the firmware for this 3rd part and configure the WRT as wireless Repeater. It is not easy to config but there is a lot of documentation for DD - WRT.

  • hard set static ip on wrt160n

Hi, I tried my new cisco wrt160n router, but when I save the following, I have a message "LAN and the wan ip address are the same. Please check again! ", I get confused. My wrt120n have the same configuration and I don't have this message when e record.

If you want to use the WRT as simple access point, leave the type of internet connection on automatic/DHCP, disable the DHCP server and a LAN port thread to the main router LAN port.

There is no purpose other thing put on the internet connection that you do not use the internet port anyway.

  • Can I use my WRT160N to replace my ISP

Hello. This is my first post here. I'll try to make sure that I'm not asking too many stupid questions.

I have a home network with nodes wired & wireless setup. Right now I use my ISP unit 'all-in-one' WAN/LAN/router to do this, but I want to disable wireless to my ISP and my WRT160N unit allows to replace the Wireless part. If there is no way to go JUST the wireless part, tor if it's easier to use the WRT in place or in addition to the device from my ISP, which also works.

    My ISP router is 10/100Mbps cable & 802. 11 b / g & the WRT160N would give me a lot more speed if I can integrate it.

    My questions are:

    (1) is there anyone on please tell me if the WRT160N is able to do this?

    (2) if so, how? Are there ways to do?

Thank you in advance for help.

Hello bamim2. Here is a link to give you an idea on how you can configure your with your ISP modem-router WRT160N: http://kb.linksys.com/Linksys/ukp.aspx?pid=80&vw=1&articleid=3733

  • Encryption advice please WRT160N router/gateway/modem wireless

I would like clarification on security and encryption please.

I have a WRT160N router/gateway/modem wireless with WPA security is enabled.  I have a wired office with LELA installed and a wireless laptop.  A key is required when connecting the laptop but on page properties in LELA, it says "wireless encryption - no ' is this extra encryption in addition to the security theWPA. WH n I try to enable it, LELA asks the password admin but after entering that does nothing (except once again ask!)  What I am doing wrong?

    Thank you

That your network is already reached, but him dosent software LELA display you something on your safety. This means that the LELA was not able to properly synchronize with the router and its wireless settings. So in this case, you do not have to worry about this, if you want you can uninstall and reinstall the LELA software on your computer, that might solve the problem. Or of another Complitely uninstall LELA software from your computer.

  • WRT160N V3 does not restart after change of IP address

I have a router WRT160N V3 I want to use it as an access point to improve the signal strength on the floor of our House.  When I change the address LAN IP of 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.2, disabled the DHCP server and save the settings, it says.

    The settings are successful.

After a few seconds, you will return to the previous page.

However, he never returns, regardless of how long you wait.  After that, he won't answer originally 192.168.1.1 address or the 192.178.1.2 new address.  I can reset the router back to the default 192.168.1.1, so the firmware is not damaged.  Just to be sure, I downloaded and reloaded the latest firmware V3, but there are always the same.  I can make changes to the configuration wireless, admin settings, etc. and she always accepts the change refers to the management software.  The only problem occurs on the main configuration page when you try to save the changes.

Has anyone ever experienced this before?

    Thank you

    Phil

Rockstar - thank you!  I established the second 192.168.1.2, successfully ping router it and was able to access the router software.  Your comments and instructions made perfect sense, once that I thought about what I was doing.

A great way to finish the day.

  • Linksys router WRT160N v3 warning disconnect and reconnect

    Hi all

I know that you've all probably seen this thread before. (I know I have).

I have a WRT160N v3 Linksys router and it keeps disconnect them and then reconnect. It disconnects wireless only. LAN still works fine.

I tried many different methods to solve this problem, but none does not seem to work.

I'm very disappointed with the quality of the product. He did everything since it was purchased. I personally would have sent in for repair, but others in my household would not have agreed to that.

    Additional features:

-Firmware Version 3.0.03 (no later than as of July 2010)

-A a SSID set to broadcast

    -A encryption WPA2-Personal

    -Mixed-mode network

-Width of the channel set to Auto (20 MHz or 40 MHz)

    -Channel set to Auto

Please help me solve this problem.

    Thank you in advanced.

In my view, that it is corrected. I'm using dd - wrt firmware instead of ciscos

  • A WRT160N V3 can be used as wireless access point.

I have an AT & T's broadband router.  A WRT160N is connected, so I now have Wireless N capabilities.  I have a second WRT160N I want to put in my living room as a point of access, so I can connect my BluRay player and video stream.  How can I configure the second WRT160N as access point?

    Thank you in advance,

    Andrew

Topic 1. Yes, you can use your second WRT and put in place as a second access point to your network. First of all, unplug the second WRT to your network and wire a computer in one of its LAN ports. Open the web interface at http://192.168.1.1/ on the main configuration page, change the address LAN IP of 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.2 and disable the DHCP server. Save the settings. Unplug the computer and connect the cable to the first router on one of the second router's LAN ports. Do not use the internet port of the second router! Now you can use the wireless access point in the second router as access point additional for your network.

For a wireless roaming the two Wrds with identical wireless settings (SSID, wireless security, etc.) and don't forget to enable the SSID broadcast. Only the channel assignments should be different. Different channels spaced at least 5 avoids duplication of canals. Now your laptop can connect to your network via either WRT and internet through the first WRT. It must also be able to move between the two Wrds without losing the connection.

Re 2. Because the WRT160N has only the ethernet 10/100 ports a CAT5e cable should do. Of course, you can consider getting a better cable, for example a cat6 for future enhancements to your network. It depends on how much effort it is necessary to replace the cable later if you decide to go for gigabit ethernet on your local network.

  • WRT160N router broadcasts not Internet

    Hello

I had a Linksys WRT160N router for about 7 years and recently started having a few problems with it. I guess it is old and needs to be replaced, but before I got up to get a new one I wanted to check.

The connection displays the full bars, but gives the error that there is limited internet access. I am still in the same room with it when using the computer, did sit no more than 5 to 10 feet away. When I plug my computer directly into the modem, then there is no problem, that's why I'm assuming that it is the router. I tried to look for similar problems in the forums, but if I missed the appropriate thread, I'm sorry in advance. Also, I'm not sure what information would be required to solve problems so I'll add some to start basic info:

Description: Intel (r) brand double wireless AC 3160

    DHCP enabled: Yes

    IPv4 address: 192.168.1.1

    iPv4 subnet mask: 255.255.255.0

IPv4 Default Gateway, DHCP server, WINS Server and DNS server are all: 192.168.1.100

    Thanks in advance,

    Liz

You have tried all the steps and I would say that the router has served you well. I think that now is the best time to upgrade to the latest model.

  • WRT160N v3 - WiFi max 270 Mbps?

    Hi guys,.

I would ask someone to confirm if the fastest speed I can get over WiFi with WRT160N v3 is actually 270 Mbps (and not 300 Mbit/s as advertised), please.

And there is still one thing - it is normal to have signal:-51; Sound level:-93, SNR: quality of the Signal of the 43, 53% if I'm only 2 meters far from a router? TX power is set to 28.

    Thanks for the reply.

It is possible that you can get up to 300mbps but it will not hold this speed forever. They announce that he will arrive at this speed but there are up to thing to consider. Just make sure you use WPA2-Personal (AES) for security and you can always change the channel width wireless 20 MHZ only (instead of self), and you can use the 1,6,9,11 channels and see if that will increase the speed. Honestly, the speed you get is not bad. It's more than what most of us usually get with the N-connection.
