Constantly higher than 50% even when idle CPU usage. NT kernel & system?

Hi, I wonder if anyone can help? I built my own computer and after I installed Windows 7 and only the drivers for the respective hardware, my CPU usage is consistently above 50% and jumped off from top down to anywhere between 50 to 100%?

I have a motherboard Biostar GF82000E with an AMD Athlon II Quad processor and also a Nvidia 9400 GT graphics card. For which I have all drivers up to date.

I tried to install Windows 7 completely fresh with nothing installed, I ran Task Manager, immediately, and you can see from the picture what I mean...

  • Qosmio F50 - 10Z - fan cycling on and outside, even when idle

My f50 is constantly the fan turns and turns off every couple of minutes, even when the computer is idle and does not run applications.

SpeedFan shows that the GPU is constantly cycling between 55 and 65 degrees C even if there are no applications running (for example just after the start)-the fan kicks in at age 65, died at 55, and then slowly warms up again. The noise of the fan is noticeable (I don't think it's going full speed, however), and it is a bit abrupt and boring happen constantly and is not normal behavior. Core 1 and 2 on Speedfan are cycles between 40 and 45 C

Outside temperature is 20 degrees, so the environment is unlikely to be a factor. I blasted air fan for dust (as much as you can because the f50 is not built to be taken by a user to the home page), but even when the fan runs at the output seems visibly warm.

I am only drivers of toshiba running on the site (currently 7.15.11.7590)

My main concern is that this will negatively affect the life of the fan. Am I being too picky or is there something else I could do?

    Hello!

It's not easy to say what's the reason of this problem, I so a few questions:
Did you install the laptop with the recovery disk or Microsoft?
What operating system do you use?

First of all, you should try to update the BIOS. You can find it on the Toshiba site:

  • InDesign - police on some pages document is darker than others - even when it is used to copy and paste!

    Hello

I have a multipage document in which a certain number of pages is the same formatting as it is a guide.

For some reason any some of the discrepancies are show my fonts as darker or bolder than others, even if the formatting is exactly the same.  Even if I copy a text box on one of the correct pages and paste on one of the darkest spreads incorrect that it is darker!

It must be something in the way the page is set up, but it uses exactly the same shape of base than others.

    Any ideas?

You probably have a transparency on the pages where the police is darker. This is a known issue on Windows.

  • Sky rockets on Windows IDLE CPU usage

I have a weird problem, but all of my windows 7 this machines. When the machine is Idle (that is to say, I don't touch it for a while) my macbook pro fans start race to 6000 RPM. activity monitor shows vmware_vmx of doping. As soon as I get back to the virtual machine (becomes active) the fall of cpu process. I know this might be either windows indexing (disabled) or windows update (enabled), but it is annoying as anything.

Parallels does something similar, but it is easy to fix, you can simply set the prompt to go to sleep when idle, and when he does parallels is smart enough to pause the VM is best for the life of the battery, etc. But in Fusion, it annoyingly suspends the VM when it goes to sleep instead (why?, hibernation should do, not sleeping).

Is there a vmx configuration setting or something to make this feature and cause the virtual machine to pause and not suspend? Anyone else having this problem?

It may be either (turn off) windows system restore or an anti-virus software that has defined for scan on idle.

Another option: disable the management of power/sleep on the guest completely and simply suspend VM manually when not on active service.

  • 3.1EA1 - High CPU on Mac even when idle

There are various threads autour on CPU, but I couldn't find one specifically for 3.1EA1 with processor high when the program is idle.

    Right now I am running:

    SQL * Developer: 3.1EA1
    Appearance: MacOS X
Operating systems: MacOS X - Snow Leopard (10.6.8)

I have 5 connections to different v11.2 databases Oracle, that don't perform queries... but the processor uses 50% (25% on each of the two nuclei) and 500 MB of RAM.

    TEST SCENARIO
    -----------------
If I restart SQL * quiet developer then the CPU at almost zero and 325 MB of RAM
Even after the reconnection of the sessions the CPU remains very low, and memory increases up to 360MB
If I run a simple query (select * from global_name ;) in each of the 5 sessions, then the CPU jumps to a constant 11-12% and 423 MB of RAM.)

I hope that this simple test scenario will help you reproduce the problem, but if not, then please let me know what you need more information.

  • Satellite A200 crashing when moved or when the CPU usage is too high

Well so recently my Toshiba Satellite A200 started crashing everytime I have to pick up the laptop or run any processes taking the CPU up to 100% usage.

This means essentially no rendering 3D games and no Photoshop or current iTunes running at the same time, etc. Here are the best even if it happens only when the laptop is plugged and not when only battery power. I tried to use another AC adapter, and I cleaned the hard drive for a new installation of Windows 7 that never solved the problem. I even went so far as to update the BIOS.

I am not quite determined that he is just a hardware problem, but I was wondering if anyone had suggestions about which party can act up on me. As I said still works like a dream when running on battery power.

    > Here is the kicker if this happens only when the laptop is plugged and not when only battery power.

The energy saving switch to another profile, using the AC adapter.
Maybe you can try to change the speed of treatment at a lower level and could increase the cooling method parameters in the energy saving profile when the AC adapter is in use.

Otherwise, it could be a hardware problem and in this case, you will need a help of ASP.

  • Satellite A500 - 14 c: fan RPM changing even when idle

I noticed that my fan is almost always above the silent mode.
Even to just look at Web sites, send emails... the fan continues to go from top to bottom... and usually stay in rpm higher for a while.

Air coming through the vents isn't hot, so I wonder if it's a problem of overheating or any drivers/BIOS problem.
    Anyone?

    Hello

The fan doesn't always work with maximum performance because is not necessary if the temperature does not increase to a higher level.
The module cooling fan works sometimes more fast and sometimes slower and it always depends on the temperature level.

If the module of cooling turns faster then that would mean that the internal temperature has increased. The fan would remain at this level, if the temperature would not go down.
But if the temperature drops then the fan might turn a little but slower and the laptop would be quieter.

This is common behavior of laptop and nothing unusual and not the problem

  • MJB: FF 3.6.6 falls down repeatedly, even when idle

[My apologies, I clicked on the incorrect URL and close the previous thread by mistake.]

I have FF 3.6.6 to random crashing when I am still doing nothing. I have two websites open normally, none of them use Flash or Adobe plug-ins. A self-actualization of content every few minutes, but it's the text and graphics of JPG/GIF base (managed by JavaScript I presume). The other site does nothing if I don't take no actions. But several times a day, FF just stops silently.

I'm running on linux Mint 9 KDE edition.

Subject: accidents indicates the URL is not valid. ~/. Mozilla/Firefox/crash reports / there is no; ~/. Mozilla/Firefox / contains a single file called. profiles.ini - nor could I find a folder with this name in one of the directories related to FireFox.

One of your modules could be the culprit too. Try running Firefox in questions to troubleshoot Firefox in Safe Mode with all disabled add-ons. • Windows 7 hard drive stolen when idle and during programs execution system

I can hear my hard drive C beating away when my system is idle, and even though my system is running programs.

Think it might be Firefox that uses the hard drive much - checked, uses the hd a little, but not more than usual, but I can still hear the hard drive clicking suite. So I close Firefox. Still ongoing.

Tried to switch browsers Chrome, and even has a lot more use of the disk by cycle Firefox did. But no matter whether Chrome is open or not, I can still hear the beating of hard drive.

Tried to use IE as my main browser, still no luck.

I checked on the Windows Task Manager, but no 1 process shows a lot of the use of the disc. I tried then to resource monitor and 'System' appears at the top of the list of processes sorted by use of the disk. But there are a lot of sub-thingos (forgive my ignorance of jargon) ongoing enforcement under 'System', while originally the beating of disc?

I disabled the process that has been suggested on the forums, without any change in the use of Windows Media network share drive.

Then I saw a thread in which someone talked about disabling Marvell / RAID drivers remains other manufacturers (where the system has no installed RAID array) slow down its use of the disk.

I have no RAID array on my PC either and noticed a Marvell driver under the heading 'System' using SysInternals Process Explorer.

I also noticed that some other drivers stray, maybe one of them is originally the use of disk problem?

It is terribly random - will start and continue for 30 to 40 minutes and then stop for hours, then start again.

I don't think it's a virus, as I have Avast! and can use the shield of file to control what files Avast! analysis - strangely, although I hear the hard drive in use, Avast! does not pick up/scan all files that the disc is supposed to be using.

Here are the various screenshots that I downloaded in the hope that someone can help me solve this problem of disk hard until it wears out and dies a lonely premature death: P - thanks

I downloaded SysInternals Process Monitor of

    http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/Sysinternals/bb896645.aspx

But the program is much more complex than Process Explorer and I have no idea how to use it.

Can someone tell me please how to run a trace through the events that may help determine which of the processes analyzed in running process monitor is / are the ones that are causing high disk usage?

    An analysis more

Restarted in safe mode (without network) and entered the resource (part of Windows 7) monitor and SysInternals Process Explorer (in Microsoft TechNet) to see if I could pinpoint the problem.

All the time, I was in safe mode, the hard drive kept in fly! : O

I started first of all resource monitor and saw that the 'system' with the PID of 4 remained the more intensive process of disk. Using the disc went from 100 KB/s to 1 MB/s as before when you are connected to Windows 7 normally.

    I also saw

    svschost (netsvcs),

    Svchost (secsvcs)

    Svchost (dcomlaunch)

    and like other processes

    wmiadap.exe

wmiprvsv.exe appear. 2 wmi processes disappeared after a short while leaving svchost and remaining 'System '.

I closed the resource monitor shot to the top of Process Explorer and found some weird-looking process:

Under wmiprvsv.exe, there was a file called locale.nls, with no manufacturer name/description (unlike some other services/sys files having a "Microsoft Corporation" as their name)

Under each of the svchost.exe process, out of all the files that have name descriptors (Microsoft Corporation), there was a little without name descriptors that caught my attention:

A file that found in Windows/Globalization/Sorting/Sortdefault.nls

A file called locale.nls (sorry don't remember the location of the file)

A file that found in Windows/Registration/R00000000000.clb

A file that found in Windows/System32/C_28591.nls

All the files above with the exception of the R000000.clb one found in svchost, lsass and csrss.

The R00000.clb file was found only in svchost.

I noticed these files because they had no name description next to them - could all of the files I mentioned contribute to the problem of the use of disc?

Hard drive stolen continues even after I Logout

I have my own PC and use an administrator account (not the default "Administrator" account, but my own account with administrator privileges).

I tried logging my regular account and another account limited, I have on the PC. Not only the disk thrashing hardcontinue while I was connected and on the screen of welcome, but he continued even after I had connected to the limited account.

    Weird Hey?

  • My laptop is often spiking to 100% CPU usage and always > 10%, with a physical memory to 25% + even though I have no programs running

Recently, I reformatted the drive, reinstalled Windows and have no personal data on this subject. The only application there is office, which I am not, using McAffee and my browser:-I use it mainly for web browsing.

It seems to happen mostly when I was using the browser, then left the machine for a few hours, then come back and tried to use it again. I turned off the screen saver and specify power options to keep permannently because she seems to be that the question was restartinjg rest. When the CPU usage is at its peak, and I try to return to the browser (or whatever it is) it may take some minutes to answer - just to load the Control Panel, for example.

I can see from the Manager tasks, which is currently running, but ideas on how to identify the process that all take this resource, I can stop safely and therefore to save resources?

    Processes are:-

    CSRSS
    DWM
    Explorer
    mcagent
    MSASCui
    rundl32
    Sidebar
    taskeng
    Taskmgr
    Winlogon

Also a lot of services - too many to list!

All the processes you list, apart from mcagent, which is McAfee, are essential components of Windows. If you finish one of them outside the sidebar of your computer stops working to a greater or lesser degree. You could try gadgets on sidebar of closing in case one of them is wrong to behave.

Another thing that can cause the CPU to boost with no application running is Windows Update and probably analysis and updates from McAfee.

Don't you have the CPU column shows in the Task Manager, so that you can see which process is using most of the CPU? What processor is it? What is a heart?

A better tool than the Manager of the tasks for these circumstances is Process Explorer.

    http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/Sysinternals/bb896653

Process Explorer is a chart of the CPU where you can put the mouse on a cob and it will tell you what process is using most of the CPU.

There is an introduction to Process Explorer here.

    http://Channel9.msdn.com/events/TechEd/NorthAmerica/2010/WCL314

As for the memory of 25%, 25% of what? Computer laptop 2 GB I write this on shows 42% of physical memory used with any running application. It's Windows. It's big enough.

In your situation, one thing I would try would be to uninstall McAfee (run the removal tool then http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=TS100507) and install Microsoft Security Essentials.

  • High CPU usage when more than 30 sessions disconnection/connection

    Hi guys,.
I had this problem for a long time.
Environment: RAC 10.2.0.5. Oracle enterprise linux 4.8. Application Java B2C with dbcp and oc4j dirver.

Server type: Dell R815. 48 processors 128 G MEM for each node.

This is a lot of the web application connects to the database and when one of them is down it will restart soon and try to connect to the database again. Each of them will try to get 50 connections simultaneously initially.

So when it happens, the sys cpu usage % will pass to more than 70, 80, 90 percent each time.

BTW, it also happens in more than 30 logout simultaneously.

Could someone tell me what the problem is?

    Thank you very much.

So when it happens, the sys cpu usage % will pass to more than 70, 80, 90 percent each time.

BTW, it also happens in more than 30 logout simultaneously.

Could someone tell me what the problem is?

The task of creating a connection and the session must be serialized, and if you start a number of connection or disconnection is trying at the same time you can end up with a storm of activity on the relevant latches that effects serious knockon. I'm a little surprised that you see that with only 30 to 50 connections, but maybe you have a couple of processors.

I made some comments to this topic on another thread a while ago: Re: generals to have a high value of the init process (or sessions) parameter

It is possible that you can configure the application server in order to limit the speed at which he tries to create or cancel the connection - for example, there may be configuration settings to say things like: 'create no more than 5 both', 'just wait a second between disconnections. (Oracle introduced parameters to logoff storms - but maybe they don't work in your version).

If you mark never questions answers people decide later that it isn't worth trying to answer you because they never know if yes or no, their response has been of no use, or if you even bothered to read it.

It is also important mark responses that you thought useful - again once it leaves other people know that you appreciate their help, but it also acts as a pointer for other people when they are researching on the same issue, also means that when you mark a bad or wrong the useful answer someone can be invited to tell you (and the rest of the forum) which is so bad or wrong on the answer that you found it useful.
