  Please read the instructions to install the memory modules, I gave the link in my first post.

  Completely open the clips, align the notch on the bottom of the module with the crossbar in the connector, place several fingers on the top of the module, and firmly press the module into the slot until the module snaps into position.

  If the module is correctly placed, the clips will be switches in the recesses at each end of the module.

  If the above does not work, re - install you 'audio drivers, although I would only do it as a last ditch measure.

  I suggest you to uninstall all the audio drivers from the computer.
  a. click Start , and then click RUN.

  There are a hundred things that might be responsible for you no longer have sound on your computer (driver/firmware/software equipment problems, hardware problems, change settings, simple things like the sound is turned down or file corrupt system mute, malware, and many others).

  The way simplest and quickest way to fix this is with the system restore.  Do you know when this problem started?  Try a system restore to a point in time BEFORE the problem started.  Here is the procedure: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial56.html.  If the first attempt fails, then try an earlier point or two.  NOTE: You will need to re - install any software and updates that you have installed between now and the restore point, but you can use Windows Update for updates.
