Continuous numbering headings/captions

I can not get a continuous numbering of the positions and the subheadings to work. It has always been easy, so I thought, and I don't have my old files available to look at. Here's the problem...

Level 1 and 2 positions are defined and numbering as...

1

1.1

1.2

1.3

2

2.1

2.2

2.3

For the beginning of the second section of level 1, I get the count field continuously by setting the level to '1' and aid of ^ #. ^ t

For the first subheading level 2, I upgraded to '2' and use ^ 1. ^ #^ t

I thought that the '1' in the above would be numbered automatically my second subtitle of level 2 as "2.1", but he he ' 1.1' labels.»» I mode = continue the previous number and check the numbers restart at previous level after level all. I was too tried different combinations

My doc looks like this...

1. INTRODUCTION

text...

1.1 context

text...

1.2 more things

text

2. OBJECTIVES

text

1.1 purpose (this should be 2.1, not 1.1)

I know that I can create a new style of paragraph for the 2 subheadings. OBJECTIVES, but it's not defeat the purpose of the recirculation feature numbering? Help! Thanks in advance!

Nevermind, it's late and very hot in Holland, I see now that you've written that it was all checked. Maybe they use a different list?

Is there a way in Pages for iOS to have the numbering of a list "continue to precedent", as it is possible in Pages for Mac 5.6?

Not as such, but there is a workaround. If you type the complete list (or well enough to reach the point where you want to insert something else), it will allow you to continue.

    for example

    1. an element

    2. two elements

    3. the points

    4 etc.

Place the insertion point ('Cursor') at the end of the third line, strip back twice and you will get a space with the numbering and the possibility to add an additional text or elements and have continuous numbering. Not perfect, but it is not quite as convoluted as it and it does not work.

  • continuous numbering pages in a book

I have a catalog with several separate Indesign files. We created each file separately, and then I tried to create a book with a continuous pagination. Nothing fancy, just directly a number all along. I have every document assigned to automatic page numbering and automatic chapter numbering. In the book numbering options, I marked it to continue from the previous document and automatically update. I feel that should give me what I want, but it's not. Each document shows still is the number of own pages, but the first few pages actually begin with the number next to the previous document, but they aren' is relying on the other. If the previous document has 12 pages the following document begins to 13... However, if this document on page 10 is in there, then the following document begins 11.

Have you tried to change the Numbering of Page option (in preferences) for "Section numbering" (instead of absolute numbering), then in the menu of the book Launcher, choosing dialing panel update > update all numbers?

  • Why numbered lists will not continue between the documents in a book?

    Dear community InDesign,

I am nearing completion of a volume of 1100 page, organized in book form in ID CS6 (OS X) composed of about 15 different documents. According to the excellent orientation in those discussions, I used a paragraph style to generate via the numbered lists figure captions.

For some reason, numbered lists restart between sequential in the book chapters, while I need them to continue between the blocks specified documents. Please note that I already have:

    1. Define continues numbered lists from previous documents
    2. Go to Type > > bulleted and numbered lists > > define lists > > edit list to verify that 'continue Document numbers in previous book' is checked
    3. Synchronize all documents in the book and updated the numbering via the book panel
    4. Read a lot of discussion on this site to try to locate this problem without success (but if you have a lead, I'm more excited to see)

Any suggestions would be welcome; I put things up through the proverbial book, and it seems that simply check the box "Numbers continue" should be enough, but it isn't.

Thanks a lot for your help.

There is a Update Page and Section numbers - and there is also an "update chapter and paragraph numbers.

Thing is to check that the numbering is set to follow the previous book - and then refresh the chapter and the numbering of the paragraphs.

  • Creation of captions with chapter numbers

Redesign of our guides and we trying to create captions for our figures and tables that include the chapter number as the figure is (i.e. Figure 3.5). The problem is that we do not use the book feature; each of our guides is contained in a single document, because some of our chapters are so short that it seemed unnecessary to place each in their own document. I know that if each chapter has its own document, we could create a paragraph style numbered list with a number as a Figure ^ H. ^ #. Is it possible to reproduce without real, separate document chapters? Up to this point, we had a separate paragraph for each chapter style (Figure 1. ^ #, Figure 5. ^ #, etc.), but some of our guides have received more time than we expected and which becomes more and more annoying. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. We use CS5.

Review your document guide just like a list of several levels, as a plan, with chapter, section, paragraph, text, figure and styles of paragraphs in table. Number of any levels are important, such as chapter and figure. Set the styles of paragraph to continue numbers across stories and restart figures and tables after the previous levels. The number format for the paragraph style figure must begin with the text "Figure" followed by a space reserved for the chapter-level number, number then '. ', the space reserved for the paragraph in figure style.

  • How to create a numbered list continues?

    Hello

I would like to know how to create a continuous numbered list. I mean, a list where each issue begins on the same line as the previous one, instead of from the next line.

    Thanks in advance!

    Paula

Create a paragraph style that increases the number in the list section and bullets.

    Define a list for it.

Set a different styles of paragraph based on the other model to start with 1 and following the precedent.

Select all the paragraphs, right-click on the style with number 1 and apply cela and style according to.

Or what you want on a single line: create a paragraph style with the numbers of the car, nothing else. Create a text frame entry '. "and copy this image to the Clipboard and paste it everywhere, you want to find the number. Optimize the size of this small frame. Reference grid could help align them.

    Hi all.

I have several themes that use the same 5 steps in a process, that I put in a code snippet, and then add several numbered steps more to the list that are specific to this topic.

I want the additional steps that are not part of the extract of continue numbering. for now, I have the 5 steps numbered in the extract and additional specific steps for each topic restart at 1, rather than continue to 6.

    for example.

    1 go to search

    2. Enter your text

    3. Select your criteria

    4 Select the...

    5 click search.

1 of the window... click... - This step is a continuation of the previous 5 but numbering does not, on the contrary, it restarts.

Is it possible to continue the numbering from a snippet?

    Thank you.

    Nick

The only way to achieve this is to restart the numbering of the item in the list after the code snippet in the required number. You can submit a feature request for it.

  • RoboHelp 2015: Problem conversion of numbered paragraphs

    Dear readers,

For a project I need Robohelp 2015 to convert a text Word 2010 numbered section headers (1. Title 1, 1.1. Title2, etc.). I would like to as Robohelp to generate topics separated for each of these headers. Not numbered headers (default value of Word) it works very well, for numbered headings I get a single subject with headers converted to Favorites. Anyone knows how to generate topics separated for each heading numbered by Robohelp?

I use Robohelp 2015 on Windows 10 Pro.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Peter,.

Thanks a lot for your answer. You're right, I had checked Pagination, I forgot to mention that in my original post.

Numbered headers are required for the project, unfortunately. After many tests I found what caused the document do not split into several pages on the numbered headers. In the Conversion Settings window, other parameters section, I had 'List Convert Word' also checked. This causes the headers interpreted as list items and not as headers, where they were not converted into several pages. Once I unchecked, everything worked fine. Currently I do not see why they have been converted to Favorites, but at least my problem seems to be resolved.

    Thanks again for your help!

  • Numbering of lists. Makes me crazy.

I have some notes at the end of a chapter, with 58 notes. I imported from Word in my file ID of 2015. The last numbers incoming were not working for me, so I deleted and define style paragraph to make a numbered list. That he does, but it numbers each note with the number '1 '. It's crazy. And I literally go to every note and choose "continue numbering" for numbers to be incremented. Why would he do that? I don't want to do this 58 times.

    Thank you.

Never mind. I found it. In the style of paragraph, under numbered lists, it has been set to "start at" number 1. I changed that to "continued from previous number" and now they are all numbered properly. Odd, that. Of course, I want to start at number 1. So, why would not, by default, continue numbers from there? No matter what. I'm fine now. Thank you.

  • Figure/table numbering in several files

    Hey gang,

I have a book of multi-fichiers in FM 11 requires this page, the paragraph numbers, figure and table be sequential (3.1 - 1, 3.1 - 2, etc.) between the files.  Issues page numbers and paragraph were fairly simple: Format > Document > numbering, continue the numbering from the previous chapter, to update the book and your Uncle Bob.  Now, the numbering of the relevant paragraphs is the following:

    H: < $chapnum >. < n + >. < = 0 > < = 0 > \t

The numbers in the figure and the table are more severe; using the following format

    H:table (or digit) < $chapnum >. < n > <><>- < n + > \t

I can get the paragraph numbers to work, but the numbers individual figure/table restarts at 1 in each file.  The problem is that there's nothing say FM to continue numbering the tables or figures in the previous file in the book, but I can't understand how do.  Any ideas?

    Kind regards

    -terry-

These counters are considered paragraph numbering for purposes of prosecution for parts of the book.

The list of the usual suspects when it gets unexpectedly reset includes but is not limited to:

    1. Conflict between book and part of the dialing properties file
    2. Some rogue paragraph is using the same counter and reset.
  • Unique automatic numbering, need full page for book counter

I have searched all over the Internet.

I am trying to add a variable that would make a total number of pages of the complete document... While it is not unusual for a request, the book is not a continuous numbering system.

For my cover, I need a total number of pages that make up the book. However, each chapter has its own set of numbering.

    For example:

    Cover page - 1

Table of contents - 2 pages

When the generation of this chapter page number would be under numbering, using the "first Page #: 1 Format: (xi) novel.

Chapter A - this has total 10 pages, but the page numbers are a supplement to a previous edition and would be pages 13-23. When the generation of this chapter page number would be under numbering, using the "first Page #: 13 Format: digital.

Chapter B - has 11 pages total, as above, it would begin on page 40.  Generation of this chapter page numbers would be under numbering, using the "first Page #: Format 40: digital.

If I add up the total number of pages in this document, it would be total 24 pages.

I need a way to count each section and add a variable to the coverage that would say something like 'this document contains 24 additional pages for document XYZ' where 24 would be a single variable that would change when more pages are added to the complementary document.

Find out the number of pages <$lastpagenum>variable. Insert your last page (or use an invisible color specified using your point of view of color) and then refer it to your cover page.

  • Photo captions are not dial correctly

I'll put together a book that has several "chapters", each in its 'own document.  There are pictures all over and I have numbered captions under each photo.  This paragraph/list style works very well.

In addition, I have a separate numbered legends style/list for each photo that is HIDDEN.   This is so that I can include details on copyright information, etc. in an Index of Images on the back of the book.  It works fine until we get to the chapter of Normandy American cemetery.   The list needs to pick up its "numbering following the chapter on the historical Photos.  (Prices and quotes that lies between the two has no numbered photo captions)

Historic Photos chapter begins with photo #203 and ends with photo #213.  Instead of starting with photo #214, the list HIDDEN in the American cemetery in Normandy leaves with #203.   It's as if the software for this list is not just see the chapter historical Photos.

    3 chapters.JPG

Note: The legends of numbered photos that are displayed on each page work fine.

It occurred near the front of the book, and to fix it, I had to create a new HIDDEN.  Then renumbering of strength and it corrected itself.   This time however, create a new list doesn't seem to work.  (And why would it get corrupted?).

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

    SET UP INFO:

Book set in place with the chapters in individual documents.

    Book chapters.JPG

Each chapter has 2 layers.  Layer 1 is the main content of the book and includes a list of numbered photo captions that will appear on each page.    Layer 2 is the HIDDEN layer.

    Hiden layers.JPG

The following paragraph/put in place for the legends of the numbered pictures that will appear on each page:

    PictureNumbering.JPG

Here's the whole upward to the paragraph for the picture with numbers HIDDEN style and the list:

    Hidden picture numbering.JPG

You must anchor these images and their captions in the flow of the main text to keep the numbering correct.
