Control Vista's Parental blocks access to iTunes Store

I searched some forums looking for a solution to this.  I am the admin on my computer at home, my wife is a standard user without parental control.  We may as well go to the iTunes Store to our accounts.  Our children have the Windows Vista's Parental control and when they try to go to the iTunes Store in the iTunes app, the status bar runs indefinitely, and they can get in the store.

Parental control is configured to allow all programs, which the Web Restrictions 'medium' value and the following Web sites are allowed:

http://AX.iTunes.Apple.com/
http://AX.Phobos.Apple.com.edgesuite.NET/
http://iTunes.com
http://store.Apple.com/us

This certainly seems to be a question of control Parental of Windows via the process of elimination.  Thanks for the help!

On another site, I found an answer that seems to work. Must change the registry, but he worked on 3 different computers:

"Rock you.  Yes, it seems that this problem could be solved by adding iTunes in the HTTPExemptions list.  In particular, adding a String key under:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Parental Controls\HTTPExemptions

The key name and the value must be the path to the executable to iTunes (c:\program files\iTunes\iTunes.exe on my machine).

I guess the drawback here is that now that my kids could, theoretically, use iTunes to access any URL on the internet, but to my knowledge, there is nowhere in iTunes where they could just type a URL and go.  In addition, there are Parental control built into iTunes as well.

Thank you! »

  • iBooks access to iTunes Store does not not on ipad

When I try to enumerate all the libraries of iBooks but mine on my pad, I get a blank screen and shows nothing.  It's used to work fine before some time last weekend.  I tried yesterday and today, updated system software and did a hard reboot, but no luck!  I'm a big user of iBooks, this is the app I used 95% of the time and have probably more than 1,000 books on this topic.  So my personal library of meager could contribute to this problem, but it woukd still be nice it the application was functioning normally.  I'd be happy for any suggestions.  Thank you.

There are a number of threads about the same problem (since 9.3.3 came out). For me logging on via back to my account settings > iTunes and App Store briefly fixed (until I then opened a book on my shelf), others seem to have had some success by closing the application via the taskbar of the iPad or do a soft-reset/reboot. • Vista's Parental control prevents the launch of iTunes Store - allowing sites Web does NOT resolve.

My daughter is unable to launch the iTunes store in iTunes when parental control is on.  If I turn off parental control it works.  See this post- http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistamedia/thread/64a593eb-8ae4-4605-86f6-8a941244f2d1/ - the answer it does NOT solve the problem, and you can see at least 3 others have the same problem as I am.

    To reproduce:
    -Download and install iTunes.
-Create a user of Vista with Parental controls active.
-Log in as user, and launch iTunes.  This method works.
-Try to access the iTunes Store.  It hangs and never ends.
-Add web sites to the list of 'Green' in the Parental control as suggested in the post mentioned above.  This has no effect.
-Select "allow all websites and content.  There is still no effect.
-Disable Parental controls for the user.  link iTunes Store arrives without problem.

I find that my daughter is unable to access the iTunes store unless I have turn off the parental control.  I would use Parental controls.  Help, please.  Thank you.

    1. On the Start menu, point to all programs > Accessories and then right click oncommand prompt and choose run as administrator from the context menu. If Windows needs your permission to continue, click oncontinue.
    2. In the window that appears, type ipconfig/flushdns , and then press return on the keyboard.
    3. You should see a message that the Cache of DNS resolution was emptied successfully.

Note: If, in the command prompt, you see this message: "the requested operation requires a rise", close the command prompt and repeat steps 1 and 2 above to be sure that administrator privileges are used to access the command prompt.

  • iTunes Store not to display properly - oversized images - 12.4 to

I had problems to access the iTunes store.  The problem began in 12.3.3 and continues in the new update to 12.4.  (My OS is Win 8.1 64bits)

Problem - all images/writing are 2 to 3 times higher than normal, there is no sidebar to scroll with the sliders in each section do not work and there is no scroll bar. I can't scroll to see the rest of the page or look in the column that is usually either to the right.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the application several times and I keep getting the same problem.

How can I solve this problem?

I've posted previously about it and don't really have an answer to my questions.

I am running windows 7.  I have experienced the same problem after 12.4.0.119.  I can solve it by going to adjust my screen resolution and then click on "make text or other objects more or less.  I still had mine average 125%.    If I change it to more small 100% the problem is resolved.  But then, everything else is too small for me.   So I am stuck so to know what setting to use.  Never had this problem before, only after the upgrade.

  • problems connecting to iTunes store

For the last week or two, I was unable to connect to the iTunes store.

    I use a MacBook Pro running OSX El Capitan v 10.11.2 mid-2010

    8GB memory with a 2.66 GHz Intel Core i7

I am running the latest version of iTunes v 12.3.2.35

My wifi works well, I have no problem with browsing the internet, I can connect to the App Store, I can connect my Apple ID.

I checked the date/time settings, I refreshed cookies, I reset my router, it turned off for 10 minutes, rebooted, rebooted the computer, stop, watched keychains, but apparently not s.o.s. keychain more, so I'm not sure if this may be the question. I disabled the iTunes Store into preferences and stop iTunes, restarted, reactivated, rebooted, without success. I don't get an error message, all I get is "access to iTunes store...". "with the blue loading bar, but it does not seem to connect to the store. I tried another Apple ID with the same result. I also cancelled the computer. So far nothing has had no effect whatsoever. Any ideas/advice/suggestions on other things to try?

    Thank you

Oh and I also tried to adjust the firewall as well... no luck.

And I have no problem connecting to the iTunes store on my iPhone which is on the same network. Or logging in to other things apple with my Apple ID related she seems to be a purely iTunes on the Macbook, related question.

    Hi amandajrs,

It seems that your computer is able to access the iTunes Store, but your phone has trouble doing the same thing. I suggest you look at the section of iOS of the following article on this kind of problem. It may seem like a lot, but it should help you get this resolved:

If you cannot connect to the iTunes Store

    https://support.Apple.com/en-us/HT201400

On your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch

If you cannot connect to the iTunes Store on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch:

    1. Make sure that your date, time, and time zone are correct. Tap Settings > general > Date & time. Time zone can list another city in your time zone.
    2. Make sure your iOS software is up-to-date. Tap Settings > General > software update to check for updates. You can also connect your iOS device to iTunes and click on search the update on the summary page of your device.
    3. Check and verify that you are in range of a Wi - Fi router or base station. If you use the cell service, make sure the cell data are lit settings > cellular. If you are connected to cellular data, large items can not download. You may need to connect to the Wi - Fi to download applications, videos and podcasts.
    4. Make sure you have an active Internet connection. Check your device Manual for Internet connectivity.
    5. Check if other devices, such as laptops, are able to connect to the network of Wi - Fi and Internet access.
    6. Reset the wireless router by turning and then again.

If there is still a problem, learn what to do if your device connects to a Wi-Fi network.

  • Disable defender and Security Essentials due to conflicts, has blocked access and control other programs.

Hello, I use Windows 7 on a HP G60 laptop. I disabled Windows Defender and Microsoft Security Essentials because I started running free Panda and Malwarebytes Antimalware version. Now an error window Defender blocking access and control of a large number of programs, the window message trying to force me to turn Defender. Disabling Security Essentials is causing other things to not work. I can not yet re - turn on Defender, if I try clicking on the link in the error window, it will not restart, expires.  Tried to turn it back on using the Task Manager, but there is no response at all if I click Start. Access to Services and programs in the start Panel are all both blocked by Defender error window.  I actually want defender and Security Essentials, because they are redundant and are in conflict with other programs I am running, but apparently they cannot be disabled without blocking access to my computer. I thought it was harmful to run all these programs of security in conflict between them, now I can't use my computer at all. Thanks for any advice you can give me.

Thanks much for the advice. I have a few other questions. Defender is not separated from the essential? Then uninstall Security Essentials would have no effect on the Defender isn't it? My problem is that Defender deactivation now blocks access to many other programs with a Defender error window.  I read that Essentials was supposed to replace defender and Defender should have been stopped or disabled when Essentials has been installed. Is this correct? I didn't, got them both running.  When I installed Panda, I got a notification from Windows on the conflict and choose which program to use. Although I chose my own safety programs at the time, which was never disabled Defender or kept from running. So I finally did it manually by accessing the properties in Services to change the startup type to disable, which is when all the trouble started.
