  • Measurement conversion US Photoshop (user EU)

    Hello!

I'm a graphic designer who recently left Europe for the United States.

I would like to know what are essentially differences between the United States and the EU measure. I have always worked with cm/pixel and A1, A2, A3, A4 format /...

Now, I work as a graphic designer in an office and I would like to know if I can 'learn' new US design concepts before you begin.

Are there any specific changes in EU measure USA I should know? Or a design vocabulary used only in the United States? Or color change in the settings of Adobe?

    Thank you very much

The pixels are pixels, but here we use the inches (25.4 cm). Common paper sizes are letter (8.5 x 11 in), legal (8.5 "x 14") and tabloid (11 x 17 inches).

  • Download Photoshop to Yosemite

I have bought/downloaded the Master Series of Creative Suites in the month of July 2011 on the site (I have no copy of disc). Photoshop CS5.1 ran fine on my old iMac Lion running. He (PS) doesn't work at all on my new iMac running Yosemite. The rest of the suite looks good on Yosemite. I read in a blog, that there was a problem of conversion with Photoshop when it was originally installed on an older version of Mac OS X.

I downloaded a version of PS CS5 on Adobe site. Fine. I opened the installer for the PS, accept the terms and then enter the serial number that I received my Adobe ID codes I get the message "this serial number is not valid for this product." What should I do now?

Your product is a suite and you must use the installer of the suite.

  • Flash to organize 2 - up Vertical

Does anyone know how to get Flash or the Flash for this action?

    The closest you will get in these versions is app.runMenuItem (stringIDToTypeID ('tileVertically'));

  • Convert PSD files into InDesign RBG to CMYK

I design the layout of a book in InDesign Creative Suite. I imported the 77 .psd files in the InDesign document. I have them created in Photoshop in the RGB color space. How can I convert pictures into a working on them in InDesign CMYK color space? I prefer convert InDesign on their conversion in Photoshop, save it back and re-binder. Many thanks for any help!

Choose Convert to Destination and choose a CMYK profile when you export the PDF file.

  • points v pixels

Hi, I work with a simple button in photoshop. The button requires a cerebral/boarder stroke of 1 pixel. In photoshop, it would appear that you can use the points system. My problem is that 1 pixel is not equal to 1 point. .75pt seems not equal 1 pixel either. What is the correct conversion in photoshop?   Thank you

  • ACR + monitor calibration

    Hello

Recently I calibrated my monitor. I have little experience. Also with color management. Even though I know that there are...

I doubt if I did well. It seems to me that the result is a little on the gray side (file: P1090340F.) (JPG).

Is - this result (file: P1090340F.) (JPG) a good starting point to see how the final image will look like (Center of the photo)?

I have the standard (small) JPG + RAW + JPG RAW XMP + calibration-screenshots of files placed on the following link: http://we.tl/JdTOFrwaLw (8 days from now available on WETRANSFER.COM!).

    Please advice.

Assuming that you are in the Camera Raw forum because you shoot Raw files, the color in your camera profile is largely irrelevant. The RAW files do not have the standard color spaces. The camera color space setting is designed to in-camera processing, which produces the Preview on the monitor image back and (optionally) a JPEG image.

[Some people shoot JPEG and treat the latter with Camera Raw too.] Their options are very limited in this way, due to the constraints of JPEG format and the fact that a large part of the image has already been scrapped (and cannot be retrieved).]

The color space is defined at the time of the conversion, in camera, or on the computer. In the case of the cab, the settings of the workspace at the bottom of the plug-in window determine the target color space (not Photoshop).

Photoshop workspace color space setting sets the default color for a new document space. If you have imported an AdobeRGB ACR conversion in Photoshop (with sRGB as the default Photoshop workspace), he would normally ask if you want to keep the AdobeRGB color space, or convert in the sRGB working color space. I mainly use Photoshop for photo editing, so my working space setting is AdobeRGB - the same that my setting Camera Raw to workspace.

If I need images for the web, I use save for Web to create a sRGB conversion.

  • Recent changes to a color managed Workflow?

Many of our clients are now supplied us with "ready to print" PDF files instead of native files and in the past few months I had many of them ask me to leave images RGB placed in InDesign by making a pdf for printing rather than convert them in Photoshop.  In the past, I have always advised them not to do this and gave them an action to the batch to convert their images to our printing profile. This concept has changed recently? Is there a reason to keep the RGB images, other than the hassle of the conversion of all?  I was always under the impression that the conversion to the profile in Photoshop is the best way to avoid problems down the line color.

The reason to not convert to CMYK in Photoshop, it is that it does not limit your output on a single device file, so you can reuse for digital printing, leaves a press in the United States or in China, or even press one to display and get the optimal color of a single file, as long that you specify the correct output profile when exporting to the exit conditions.

The other side of this workflow is that you get the same conversion you would get by opeing the file in Photoshop and make a convert to profile. It's also the downside - there is no additional opportuinty to settle anything for projects that are REALLY essential colours, like Museum catalogs, I therefore always do my conversions in Photoshop and replace the RGBs in the .indd file. If I think that I'll ever need to reuse, however, I would like to put a RGB version, too.

  • SWOP to finally second Sheetfed

I've never had a customer change the color profile just before sending it to print as well service...

My question is... since I saved hundreds of images in CMYK SWOP, but now the client wants to print to a printer in sheets... is it necessary for me to go back and save the RGB files as in leaves?

I spent a lot of time to correct the original photos, and I don't want to loose subtleties of luminance or color.

    Thanks for any advice.

    Ron

    > So just change the profile AFTER the originals were recorded with a SWOP profile will not enlarge the range... right?

That's right (as are other things, you said), that's why I said there was no reason to make a conversion from SWOP in SFC. What will accomplish is simulating colour SWOP in SFC, you see no improvement, so there is no reason to lose time in Photoshop works with images converted, only the RGB.

There are subtle differences between the conversion to a new profile and assigning a new profile. Conversion attempts to keep the same color appearance by changing the numbers. Assignment keeps numbers but can cause changes in the color itself. Assuming that images have embedded profiles, it would probably be best to re-export the PDF by choosing the offset machine profile leaves and convert to Destination (preserve numbers), what will change the values in the image to preserve the appearance of SWOP (I'm guessing that you color correction), but let your native objects of ID and same type just to print the current PDF , but it's going to be not as good that convert the RGB.

If the archived images are all in a folder, it may be relatively simple to re-edit the link to the RGB versions help to reissue it to folder command in the wheel of the links Panel menu. If you did your corrections in RGB and the sizing is correct, or almost, it shouldn't be big differences in sharpness on the resizing and sharpening after in Photoshop and color will be exactly the same if you just did a profile conversion in Photoshop without setting it when you export the images RGB of ID using Convert to Profile (preserve numbers) and choose the profile to leaves , but you will get the best color you have now with the original conversion of SWOP.

  • Best way to deal with screen capture?

    Hello world

I have a lot of images captured with Snagit (computer screens). They will be printed in black and white.

I usually do the following: open the png file in Photoshop, select Convert to grayscale Mode and save it as PSD.

Generally, I get the results reasonably good in printed books (CMYK and n & W). [If I put the image I do usually only in Photoshop, but if the budget is tight, I do the scaling in Indesign]. I confess that I am not a very good "Photoshop" and I noticed that under Image-> adjustments there is a command to convert to B & W images.

I played a bit with this two options and I have concluded that the files obtained with this IVª of different shades of gray are a little different.

Can anyone advise me on the best method to use and the best way to do this kind of conversion in Photoshop. I'm on Windows using CS 5.5

    Thank you in advance.

    Maria

In fact, in Photoshop, black and white is really a neutralized RGB image - three channels balanced to have the appearance of a B & W photo. If you want the pixels that are either black or white, nothing else, a channel, you must convert it to Bitmap mode.

In the same way, "printing in black-and-white ad" is not accurate - you print in black and leave everything else without ink. To get gray you would use a halftone screen of a certain value.  I imagine that if you print monochrome (any single color, including black) you want to convert in grayscale, bitmap not mode. You might, however, want to use black and white conversion first, which lets you play with the sliders and set the contrast of the different colors in the screenshot to make the image as readable as possible, then convert it to grayscale. I prefer to use an adjustment layer for these adjustments, such as B & W, that can be done this way because it is more flexible and does not change the underlying image.

A consensus among users here who work a lot with screen capture is that you can scale to the ID and the results will be as good as scaling in Photoshop.
