Mac OS 10.5.8 and OfficeJet Pro 8600

Recently bought a 8600 (N911a) to support the new business project.  Printing for most of the iPad and iPhone (it works very well), but want to use scanning and printing features of a connected USB backup mac running its OS yield on 10.5.8.

Downloaded the recommended HP SW.  Test page print utility SO HP, but when I try to print from other applications, I get error "failed to /Library/Printers/hp/cups/Inkjet3.driver/Contents/MacOS/Inkjet3".

    • HP Officejet Pro 8600
    • MacBook Pro (Mac OS X, Version 10.7.5)
    • MacBook Air (OS X, Version 10.8.2)

    Question:

    • Why my Mac initially print fine, but now will not print?

    Full article:

I have a wireless network in my house that consisted of a 30 MB cable internet, Netgear 900n, HP Officejet Pro 8600, 2 laptops from Dell with Windows 7, a laptop Lenovo with Windows 7 and Dell with Windows 7 trick, all printed matter very well.

The HP Officejet 8600 was added to my network about 2 months ago.

I added a Macbook Pro and Macbook Air about 3 weeks ago.  The two Macs printed fine for about a week.  Then suddenly they stop.  I spent about 2 hours on the phone with HP's Service, and finally, they said to my router.  So I called Netgear.  NETGEAR was useless!  They wanted me to accept fees for services before they would even discuss the issue.

As a result of information provided by the HP support service, and because Netgear will not support their product, I quickly bought a new router - an Apple Airport Extreme.

Macs will recognize the printer will print if connected via a USB cable, but do not print wirelessly on the Officejet Pro 8600.  The fine impression CPA.

The frustration that is felt is made up by the fact that Macs printed very well with the Officejet Pro 8600 2 weeks and now the printer shows just "idle"... even with a new router. (see image below)

Please help, thank you very much for all support.

As a side note, the representative of the HP Service was very friendly and definitely tried to support the HP product, which is much more I can say about Netgear.

    Thank you

    Hello

More likely a problem with Multicast, which Apple devices are relies on to communicate with the device through the network.

First try unplugging the router for 30 seconds.

Connect to the power supply and wait 2-3 minutes.

Turn off the HP printer and turn it back on, then check all difference.

If it persists, try to change the configuration of your router as follows

Note: the settings below are not related with the HP product, I provide you with the steps as a best efforts and those based only on my own knowledge. You can try to change the settings of the router at your own risk:

    1. Open the router configuration page (you'll find listed as the default gateway by clicking the icon on the printer wireless, then print a network configuration report.
    2. Click the Advanced tab.
    3. Click the configuration option in the menu, and then click Setup WAN.
    4. Be sure to uncheck the box Disable IGMP proxy transmission and apply the changes.
    5. Click on the LAN configuration on the same Setup menu.
    6. Set the RIP RIP-2 Version and apply the changes.
    7. Restart your router and then check any change.

  • HP OfficeJet Pro 8600: Scan - disable the 'Save' button with MAC OS 'SIERRA '.

    Hello world

I have an Officejet Pro 8600 installed in a Macbook pro.

After having upgraded to Mac OS Sierra (10.12) 'Save' button in the HP scanning software is now disabled when the save screen appears. Save documents are possible using the 'Test' option in the menu "Preferences".

It worked fine with the latest version of 'El Captain'.

I've searched for scanning HP new version for Mac OS Sierra, but nothing.

Someone has any idea how to solve this problem?

    TKS in advance.

    Hello
The HP scanning application is not compatible with Sierra, so you may experience problems.
Remove the HP scanning by moving it to the trash, then empty the trash.

Instead install HP Easy Scan below, it will be installed in the Applications folder:
    http://FTP.HP.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/OSX/installations/Essentials/HP-easy-scan-1_7_0.pkg

If you experience additional problems, ensure that the latest version of the software is installed by following HP Easy Start below:
    http://FTP.HP.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/OSX/applications/HP_Easy_Start.app.zip

Finally, make sure that your drivers are up-to-date by clicking the Apple icon, select about this Mac and then press on software update.
Click on the Bank on the menu bar, click Reload Page, click all update if an update is available.

  • OfficeJet pro 8600 work pending complete on Mac

    Hello

I have the problem where, after printing, the I get the message "waiting for job to complete" which never goes away by itself. I can manually delete the item, and then continue to print repeating the process whenever I need pringt.

I read the forums and found similar issues but not exactly the same thing and recommended for this to reset the system of printing and the resinstall. I did, but the problem persists.

    Printer: Officejet pro 8600 more

    OPERATING SYSTEM: OS X 10.9.3

Connection: Wireless and USB (same problem with both)

When I originally installed the printer it worked fine. When I upgraded to 10.9 it worked fine, but the problem arose shortly after.

    Thank you

    Hello

Reset of the printer. Went back through the entire installation process, including ePrinting. I was then able to check the firmware - it ws updated.

Then, I removed all installed printers and scanners. Then I reinstalled the printer using the IP address option on Mac only (it was already fixed IP not DHCP).

After that, it works. Note that I analysis of the HP app that the scanner does not appear in the Mac printers and Scanners - which is fine for me.

It's hard to see what makes the difference, but I'd say it's one or more of

IP, DNS 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4, using IP printer (with HP AirPrint driver option not), have dull ePrinter fixed / apps to implement the same if not used and not to scan that appear in the Mac

I'm not sure but I will mention to help any other people watching this thread.

The problem is now resolved, and I now try to mark the thread as such.

    Hello whatkatiedoes,

I understand your frustration I want to gather some information so that we can begin troubleshooting.

  • Unable to scan from my HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus to my Mac iOS 10.10

Just bought a new Mac and execution of Yosemite. Tried to add my 8600 and it prints but will not scan. When you try to scan to the computer, a message "the HP software required for the Scan of the computer could not be located on this computer. Please download and install the latest HP recommended software for your device to http://www.hp.com/support and then try again. "When I followed the link, he directs me to download the driver again... and the beginning of the cycle. I tried to uninstall completely while following the previous suggestions in the forum, but nothing did.

I'm a new Mac user, but just can't understand why it would work on my PC and not the new Mac.

    Hi castagmc,

    Welcome to the HP Forums.

I see that you experience a problem when you attempt to get the new Yosemite driver installed for the printer.

I have some suggestions that we can try to solve this problem.

First of all, please remove the cable usb from the printer and Mac and leave that it disconnected until further notice.

I have a link that I give you which gives detailed instructions for uninstalling the printer software.

Once the uninstall is complete, reboot the Mac for changes to take effect.

When the Mac is back running, disable any anti virus protection, you can running. We don't want anything to get in the way when reinstall us.

The next step is to download and install the HP Officejet Pro 8600 series full feature software and drivers.

The installation will prompt you as to connect the usb cable then please do not it connect before hand.

Please do not hesitate to write me again if you have any other questions.

If troubleshooting doesn't help not solve your problem, then I would say call the HP Technical Support to see all the other possibilities for you. If you call in North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions, please click here: click here.

  • Need help to set up officejet pro 8600 and scanning to the network on OSX Lion folder

    Hello

I'm trying to implement my Officejet Pro 8600 more scan to a network under OSX Lion folder.  I have correctly set up the printer otherwise (and can scan and flown from my Mac).  I created SMB sharing as described in the documentation.  My only question is what to enter in the Web server of the printer when it asks for the network path of the shared folder.

For example, I have the following shared folder:

    / Users/me/Documents/scans/Durable goods received

on my computer that has name is:

    My iMac

    has an IP address:

    172.16.1.4

wonder web server of the printer a network path (for example: \\mypc\sharedfolder) but I do not know how to translate my way above in the correct format.

    I tried the following:

    AFP://172.16.1.4//users/me/documents/scans/durable------Goods\ recipes

    but he doesn't like it.

    I also tried:

    Recipes of \\172.16.1.4\Users\bvz\Documents\scans\Durable of goods.

    Nothing helps.

Thanks for any help or ideas!

    Hello

First of all, make sure to install the latest firmware for the printer.

SMBX (used by Lion sharing protocol) support added lately, and the device fails to access any forlder Lion shared with an older FW version:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c02919168

You have shared the folder durable goods received ?

If so, I guess the correct path would be as follows:

    \\172.16.1.4\Durable goods received

Please let me know of any changes,

  • OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus: HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus - Can no longer print with my Mac

I have been using a printer HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus via my MacBook Pro (OS X Yosemite version 10.10.4) for about two years with no problems until recently.  Since a few days ago, I'm more able to print wireless, despite the fact that the printer is connected to the network.  Interestingly, the print queue reflects the print job completed, but pages do not print.  In my attempts to solve the problem, I have (i) restore factory settings and re-written information of network required on the printer; (ii) disconnected the printer and waited five minutes;  (iii) unplugged and reset the router. (iv) deleted and reinstalled the software and drivers printer on my laptop.  My laptop is in communication with the printer as evidenced by my ability to scan using HP Scan wireless, but I'm unable to print the document once it is scanned.  Finally, I am able to print the network settings Page in the menu of the printer, but not the printer web page... I get an error message saying 'the printer is busy. Try again later.  Any ideas to fix this frustrating problem would be greatly appreciated.  I apologize if my descriptions are not technically accurate because I am a novice when it comes to computers and networks.  Thanks a lot for your help.

Thank you for your response and suggestions. I really appreciate it.  You beat me to the punch... only a few hours ago, I was able to get the printer working again... but I forgot to update my post.  As you recommended, I have reset the printing system, downloaded a new driver... hpprinterdriver3.1.dmg... added a new printer... restart the printer, my router and my laptop... and the printer from work once again from my Mac.  Yet once again, I appreciate your efforts... Bravo.
