HI Experts

My current version is Oracle 10 g on the window and I want to convert on Oracle 11 g on Linux.
What will be the best way to convert it? can possible to perform the direct conversion
or I have to be the migration of database window Oracle 10 g on Linux, Oracle 10 g, then covert Linux Oracle 10 g on Linux Oracle 11 g.

If the direct conversion is possible then please let me know how or if you have the document then please share it.
I searched a lot but I have nothing...

Thanks in advance

  • Oracle ASM on Windows

I think I have I need help to get my right to ASM storage. Recently I changed businesses and the new place is a House of Windows, so Oracle databases are all on 2008 R2 machines. I run Oracle RAC on both physical and virtual before, but only in Linux/Unix environments (up to now, I still prefer) so I'm still learning some of the ins and outs. This company seeks also to travel to the RAC, ASM is in the mix. To start my tests, I have implemented an ASM instance for a single host that will eventually become a pole of development taking into multiple databases. However, before I set up data bases, the host is locked up. I think it has something to do with the configuration of the disk, because while the entrapment took place while the virtual machine is idling, several crashes occurred when I try to drop a disc from the asmca utility. I followed the Oracle documentation for Windows platforms, but this documentation does not offer overview of storage on vmware virtualization.

    Here is my configuration:

    VMware: vSphere 5.5

    OS: Windows 2008 R2 Standard

    Memory: 12G

    Storage: OS: 60G; ASM: 20G, 5G, 5G

Oracle Grid: 11.2.0.4 (more January 2014 CPU)

Oracle database: 11.2.0.4 (more January 2014 CPU)

Other details (perhaps important, perhaps not):

    (1) I have a large pages activated

    (2) drives are supplied thin. Note, I always thick-stocked my ASM, but our admin SR records. HE made a policy that all disks must be supplied thin for efficiency. I don't know if this could cause a problem.

    (3) the 3 ASM disks are running using the paravirtualized SCSI driver

    (4) the host also has an OEM 12 c Agent installed and running.

I'm new on the Windows platform when it comes to Oracle (I managed a lot of SQL Server DBs), blocks do not appear to produce any type of data in the logs.

Just for someone who comes across this post on the forum, update the ESET software kept interfering with the DSO, so I'm back in business. In response to the previous notice, I am the first full-time, home s/n they hired, and what I learned to work with is regardless of the parade of consultants put in place in recent years. Sometimes you gotta work with what you have. It's kinda a mess overall, to say the least, but I'm slowly getting it resolved. Linux is in the cards, but not in this series of changes.

  • Oracle database on windows

Hi, I have installed oracle 11g on windows to test the object. I am facing a few questions:

    (1) after connecting to the database. I ran the command "Shutdown". I took a lot of time. but after that I ran the startup. now, the database does not start uo back.
It is said: ORA-01031: insufficient privileges

    (2) how can we check the status of the database, either running or down
I know that in linux, we can check it in ps - ux | grep tns
is there a similar command in windows

    (3) in addition, I created the general database using dbca utility. but it has not made the default tables. IE emp, dept etc.
I guess these are the base that is created tables.

I grant you that Microsoft has some very smart, talented and creative technical people. Some might even be 'genius'... for what it's worth.
But none of this translates into an operating system technically superior, just an economic success. And from what I've read lately, the one that finally begins to lose ground to Linux.

I don't know what you mean by "windows OS is as tough as unix." ("tough"?) But I will say that I have worked with every major release of Windows since its inception. I worked with several flavors of nix (Solaris, AIX, HPUX, Linux RedHat/Oracle).  I started my career on the big iron IBM (s - 360 and various descendants and various derivatives).  And given the propensity of humans to prefer what they already know about something again, I should prefer Windows to the nix. But the reality is that I learned to avoid Windows I get chances. It can be a very good OS, but it is "too clever by half."

  • RAC with Oracle VM and Windows Server

    Hi all,

We want to implement the system with Oracle database 11g or 10g 64 bit (CARS) on the OS of Microsoft Server 2008/2003. We do not have enough licenses for all the hearts, and we want to find a way to implement the RAC database with existing licenses.

Is this a good solution to use virtualization, as Oracle VM?
How much is safe to use virtualization?
Can we do Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) environments Oracle VM with Windows Server 2008 64-bit (or 2003 Server) operating system and use hard partition?
Is it better to invest in licenses or try with Oracle VM?

Oracle VM can be configured so that it is recognized as a difficult score.
Hard partitions allow customers of one license these CPU used by the partition instead of license all the processors on the physical server.

  • Oracle SQL Developer/Oracle 11 g/Windows 7 - cannot connect 'sys as sysdba'

    Hello

I downloaded and installed SQL Developer 3.2.20.09, the latest version, separately from Oracle 11 g, because the version provided with Oracle 11 g did not work properly.

Now, I'm trying to connect SQL Developer 3.2 to my instance of 11g Oracle installed on Windows 7.

I can log in with the user name SYS AS SYSDBA using SQLPLUS, text bundled with Oracle 11g, with a password to null and without any problem.

However, when I try to connect to the same instance using the graphical tool based on Java, Oracle SQL Developer 3.2 I get this error:

Status: Failure-Test failed: ORA-01031: insufficient privileges

I already checked the computer management and I am already a member of administrators and 'ORA_DBA' groups.
I already checked tnsnames.ora, etc. and everything is indicated as it should.
I also checked my SID and it corresponds to what was named during the installation of Oracle 11 g.

Is someone can you please tell me why I can't connect using SYS AS SYSDBA?

    Yes that's correct.

    Hello;

It should be possible. The ORA-27040 is

"O/S-Error: (OS 3) The system cannot find the path specified."

and the second error ORA-27040 seems to be an effect of the first.

File create error, unable to create file

Could be a permissions problem, so if you can mount the disk space windows, but cannot write to it (yet)

There is a note of support Oracle that covers this:

ORA-19504 ORA-27040 during Rman backup in a Directory Windows mounted under Linux [464267.1 ID]

Which confirms, in my view, the answer is Yes.

    Further that:

One faces this question erlier? then helpme out.

    Hello

    1. If your files are located on a remote file system, you will need to copy one of your files to the computer that Designer ODI runs to allow ODI retrieve the metadata of the file information.
    2. in the topology to create a physical schema, the directory you enter data and the scheme of work must point to this local file.
    3. then set the file data store in the designer of the ODI. Enter a name, browse and select the file and fill each deposited the files tab.

    * If it's a fixed file, click on the network icon in the column into the columns tab and have checked auto adjustment.
    * If it is a delimited file, use the reverse button on the columns tab to reverse the columns.
    * Right-click on the Datastore folder select View Data, if you can view the data, which means that store file data has been correctly set.
    * If this is not the case, check each tab of the database file to make sure that everything is set correctly and try again.

    4. once the display data to be successful, now change you directories (data and the scheme of work in topology) to point to the remote file system. These directories must be accessible to the ODI Agent that will be used to perform transformations. The directory can be an absolute path (m:/public/data/files) or a parent in the ODI Agent startup directory (.. files/demo /). It is strongly recommended to use a UNC (regardless of the location of execution) name for the path. Executing transformations "agentless", the directory is relative to the directory where Oracle Data Integrator was installed.

You must have an agent process running on the system that contains your source file.
Then during the race, the odi interface choose this agent.

    Thank you
    Fati

  • Oracle cross-platform Windows to Linux migration

Have a problem to need advice.

    I have a WIndows server 2003 R2 (32-bit) with Oracle 11.2.0.1 and I migrate to Linux with Oracle 11.2.0.4

I've been reading on and try to use on windows expdp and impdp on Linux.

I have the sequence right to make this migration?

Export to create 1) file form Windows (expdp) I need I create full dump?

    (2) then import them using impdp on Linux. Little bit confused becuse windows and linux by using other fails the path to data files and how Max easy to do this?

    Thank you very much!

This happens because you have a different character in the source to the target database database.

For example, if you export a character defined single-byte and import into the multibyte character set it is likely that you will encounter this problem because a single character who now uses a single byte in the source database can use 2 bytes (or more) in the target database.

  • Cannot convert oracle.jbo.domain.DBSequence to class java.lang.Integer

    Hello

I have the following problem with my ADF application developed in JDeveloper 12.1.3:

In my model, there are two entities MeterEO and MeterTypeEO with the following attributes:

    MeterEO

    TenantIdBigDecimalTENANT_IDNUMBER
    MeterCodeStringMETER_CODEVARCHAR2 (48)
    TypeIntegerTYPENUMBER

    MeterTypeEO

    IDDBSequenceIDNUMBER
Name of the vendorStringNAME OF THE VENDORVARCHAR2 (32)
    TypeStringTYPEVARCHAR2 (16)

Type of MeterEO reference Id in MeterTypeEO.

Appropriate VO of the meter uses a MeterTypeVO LOV to create a list containing the provider and Type as well as the user's selection.

In the ModelTester, everything works well when I try to change a counter, select a new type and validate my changes to the database.

A JSFF, it looks quite different. Selection is made by SelectOneChoice with the LOV list containing the provider and Type. Of the LOV the appropriate values are selected for the (integer) to the meter, then the user gets a readable text instead a few cryptic. But when I change the value by selecting a new choice I always got the error ' Can' oracle.jbo.domain.DBSequence to class java.lang.Integer.

Why it works without problems in the Modeltester but not on the page?

    Screenshot 2015-08-31 12.48.55.pngScreenshot 2015-08-31 12.49.09.png

Please see the attached screenshots to make it clearer what I mean.

    Any hint is appreciated,

    Björn

I solved my problem now in view objects. Maybe someone who has the same problem and is interested in the solution:

In MeterTypeVO - which is the source for the LOV - I added a new transitional field called IntId of type Integer that refers to the field Id of type DbSequence by Expression. DbSequence is automatically converted at length which can be also automatically converted in full.

At the counter, I changed the key of the LOV to IntId instead of code.

    It works like charm.

  • How to convert Oracle DB SQL?

Hello everyone, nice to meet you!

First of all I apologize for:

    -my pretty terrible English

-the fact that I am a complete novice in databases and that my question may sound like proof full for most of you

-the fact that there are probably a billion discussions on this subject, but after many hours lost in the research in this forum or elsewhere, I just dropped...

So now that these points are mentioned, here's my problem with my own green words:

Goal: Be able to log in and then convert it using SSMA SQL restore an Oracle DB from a dump file (.dmp).

My first step was to be able to install Oracle Databese Express 11 GR 2.

Then, I installed MASA and launch it to reach my goal.

To connect to Oracle, I now have to choose a mode of connection, including one of these two ( https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh313203(v=sql.110).aspx text):

    1. If you select the Standard mode, provide the following values:
      1. In the server name box, type or select the name or the IP address of the database server.
      2. If the database server is not configured to accept connections on the default port (1521), type the port number that is used for connections in the Oracle Server port box.
      3. In the Oracle SID , enter the system identifier.
      4. In the user name box, enter an Oracle account that has the necessary permissions.
      5. In the password box, enter the password for the specified username.
    2. If you select the TNSNAME mode, provide the following values:
      1. Of the login , enter connect (aka TNS) of the database identifier.
      2. In the user name box, enter an Oracle account that has the necessary permissions.
      3. In the password box, enter the password for the specified username.

.. .but I don't know even how to find the SID of the Oracle... I tried with the name of the server: localhost, Oracle SID: XE and SYSTEM and password, but it didn't work.

So I tried with the TNSNAME, identifier of connection mode: XE (found on my default tnsnames.ora file), SYSTEM/password and it still does not work.

It would be really nice of you to reflect on this and share your ideas on how to get through this stage of the process and the weather, you have an idea to do the rest (BD restoration/conversion) too!

    Thank you very much.

This is my point of view. I don't know what means the "ORACLE_SID". "XE"? Something else? I don't know where to find it!

Everything we've seen up to this says that your ORACLE_SID is XE.

BTW, ORACLE_SID is the name of an environment variable.  The value associated with this variable should be "XE".

As I said, I'm stuck at level zero here.

I certainly miss to run a crucial step for, I don't know, to create a standard database where I could connect or something I don't know, but the fact is that I can not even use impdp on my .dmp file because I can't seem to log on before...

Everything that I did is to install Oracle DB Express and MASA in practice. I missed something to do after that?

If your installation of Oracle DB Express went well, you should have a database named XE and you should be able to connect to it.
