Convert PSD to the Illustrator symbol?

I struggled to transform a graphic into a symbol in Illustrator CC.

It's a combination of a JPG or PSD with Illustrator graphics on top of it. When I try to drag the work with a palette of symbols, it doesn't let me.

I saw videos of people using a PSD and use it as a symbol. I tried to use only the OSD itself and it still does not work.

Someone at - it a preview? Greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the replies.

I made the mistake of trying to add the graph as one symbol in another saved palette symbol and not the original palette symbol available when you press SHIFT-Cm-F11 - my bad! It sets obtained. Thank you, again.

  • Problem with the PSD file in Illustrator

    G ' Day,.

My problem is when I place the PSD file in illustrator, it opens menu 'Option to import Photoshop' ,
that allows me to choose either:
    (1) photoshop layers convert to objects (or)
    (2) flatten layers into a single image photoshop

all other options are greyed out (which means that I can't select them)

The 2 options above will embed the image in illustrator, so when I update in photoshop, they will not automatically update.

I don't have this problem in the past (which means that I do not understand this menu when I use the function of the place), but it is just poped last week.
But when I open OLD illustrator files that have PSD images embeded no, I am able to edit the PSD and Illustrator will be automatically updated.

Please help this is really frustrating to keep investment PSD files every time when I change.

    Thank you!

I hope you saw the link check the option above what I wanted, if not selected it would prompt you with a dialog box that you encounter.

  • How to convert a file .psd, .ai (adobe illustrator)

    Hi guys,.

I have a very high quality multi layer .psd file I need to convert to adobe illustrator to export it in autocad.

As I am very experienced, Ive tried to merge the layers in the psd file and then use Export-> 'Path to Illustrator', however when I open the .ai file is newly created, open a dialog box called "Convert into work plans" and any options, I chose (board graphic Legacy or culture (s) "my new illustrator file seems to be empty.

Thank you for any file anyone can offfer.

    Best regards

    Alex.

Update: If you have the latest version of photoshop and Illustrator then just open the .psd of the document version in Illustrator and make sure that the "convert layered objects" is selected and the image will appear in Illustrator.

  • How can I create and organize a symbol into the symbols in the Illustrator?

    Hello

I am trying to create a series of symbols for maps (North arrow, scale bars, etc.) and save them in the libraries of 'symbol' of the Illustrator - as the "cards".  The goal is that whenever I create a new Illustrator file, I can immediately grasp these newly created symbols without having to open another file and copy the line of the other file you want drawings (just trying to be more organized and efficient).

I am at a loss. I understand how to make them in my drawing and break the link to change.  I also went as far to make a custom symbol and drag it onto the dialog box "Symbols" - but it wont let me to drag it into the dialog box "cards".  And even if I did drag a symbol in the dialog box - is it automatically saved?  There is no instructions on how to record the symbols the user creates.

    Help, please!

    Happy Thanksgiving,

On a PC, they are in users AppData-> Roaming folder

This file will be hidden by default

  • The transparent edges in psd exported from Illustrator

    Hello community,

I have something to do when I export from Illustrator as a PSD using the artboard. It ends with a line of transparency around the edges, and is larger than the size of art exported. She earns environ.01 in. on the edges, and when I use "toppings transparent pixels" in Photoshop, it adjusts downwards so it won only de.07 inch around the edges, but does not lose the last line of pixels which are semi-transparent. I use a script that exports, then it re-imports and places it in the Illustrator file, effectively share the vector to raster. It is part of a larger process, I have no control, if the process is not something that I can change, otherwise I wouldn't do that.

Why it exported with this line of transparency at the edges? It is at the origin of the white lines appears in the file gets it re-imported to. So far, it was okay because it shows that in the bleed, which gets ready. Later, however, this process is supposed to be used for the non-purge elements, and the white lines are appearing. This is a close-up of an attached example.

Someone has ideas how to stop from happening?

    See you soon,.

    Emmy Williford

    white-lines.jpg

    Hi Emmy,.

transparent pixels are the result of the conversion of inches in Pixels.

    Thumb = 860.4 11.95 Px

As a pixel 0.4 is not one extra pixel is added to the file.

Set your Pixels (Ctrl-click sovereign) rulers and ensure that the work you want to export is only complete pixel.

Even if you work with whole pixels, you can also consult the resolution: 72 or a multiple thereof is ok, but some resolutions may introduce additional semi-transparent pixels anti-aliasing

  • Hello! I have problems with the Illustrator. Each of them is turning incorporated when I close the file.

Hello! I have problems with the Illustrator. I link images, close the file, but when I opened again all the links is not respected and turn to the software! Linked images are PSD files, apparently without any problem. Anyone?

Thank you, but the problem was simple: the box to save the file was with the option 'include linked files' and I do not understand. I never click on this option, but I discovered that my friend had clicked on this (we have both worked with the same campaign files).

And as for the pdf compatibility, I thought this could be the cause of the problem and I have enabled sometimes and try to save it again, but it wasn't the cause. And Yes, the file remains much better with less than half the original size ():

    Thank you!

  • When the path is missing from the Illustrator file, the problem occurs

When the path is missing from the Illustrator file, it keeps duplicating well the path is absent from and cannot do anything else in the file

Sorry about that - it happens to PSD files too. The solution is either to the back file where she there or, if you do not have the file, the set (of the same type) _any_ file in the old location renamed the old file name just if she continues to complain.

Or, if you don't need the project, just leave Ch and delete project - it will create a new on the next launch.

If you know in advance that you will be willing to delete the files to work on disk that are still referenced, you can avoid this problem by selecting the puppet in the project Panel, and unchecking the option "Auto-sync with the work" in the properties panel. Manual synchronization is then possible to check and uncheck this option.

We have already fixed this bug here at the factory in Seattle, so it won't be a problem in Preview 2 and later versions.

  • Help with the creation of color sets in the Illustrator file

I'm repeating a specific background image on every page of a calendar and want to change its colors on each page. There are 2 shades in the image using a total of four different colors. I am not at all skilled in the theory of color and I was wondering if someone can please tell me if there is an easy way to come with harmonious color combinations that I can apply to the original Illustrator file? My solution shortcut would be to convert color to grayscale and apply a color overlay, but the image will seem just flat when I do this. I prefer to set the gradients individually but do not know how to find the compatible colours.

Here's a preview of the image, followed by a DropBox link to the Illustrator file.

    Thank you!

    Couple for you ideas:

First of all, try to use the color wheel on color.adobe.com.  Select the middle color and add your hex code of the color.  The app will automatically show you similar colors.  See an example of here. You can also experiment with other rules of color in the color rule menu (just click on one of them).

Second, take a look at themes created by others.  If you are generally looking for colors that work well with the yellow, you can browse the most popular themes and identify some that use yellow.

    I hope this helps.

  • InDesign and Illustrator, a catalog with for most of the Illustrator designs

-Very well, have a bit of an Enigma here. I am quite familiar with InDesign and Illustrator. However, for the laying of the catalogues and printed material, I tend to prefer to use InDesign for obvious reasons.

However, I'm working on a project, a sheet of goods of 10 pages that presents Illustrator of various items of clothing designs. All of the dozens of sketches, I need, are spread over 2 Illustrator .ai files. That's what I have provided with.

When I paste the artwork in InDesign, the features of illustrations become wobbly and InDesign must convert the material pasted sliced EPS. Essentially, it becomes ineffective, after some pasted artwork and my InDesign document file size grows substantially. It feels like I'm doing something wrong. Thoughts?

Or... Since I mainly use vector sketch, it would make more sense just to build a catalog of 10 pages in Illustrator? In this way, when I paste between documents everything dimensionnera properly, etc. I'm just worried about having to do any type of work and lay-out in Illustrator. Thoughts?

I would isolate each Illustrator illustration using the work plan.

Make sure that The show Import Options is checked when you place in InDesign so that you can select each individual work plan.

Update changes to the Illustrator file in the links of InDesign Panel (double click on the yellow triangle).

Thanks to individual work plans, you can take advantage of InDesign options for mounting on the frame work.

  • Watching a .psd on the problem of the other computer?

OK, I have to bring a project from photoshop to the school to present.

    Problems

-You cannot install fonts, brushes, etc. on the school's computers

-J' used custom brushes and fonts that do not come with photoshop

-need to be a .psd project

So, what would be the best way to see/transfer of the project to the school's computer?

    Thank you

Convert forms via the Panel menu.

To work on it without your fonts, the school's computer would substitute a font installed. For a plain font book-type would probably usable, but a fancy display typeface would be probably pretty Bleh.

  • Acquisition of the police Symbol in MS Word to Indesign

I'm working on a work in Indesign and import text from a MS Word file. The formatting comes through MS word and a lot of bullets is used. My Indesign file displays the message that the "Symbol" font is missing whenever I open the file. It's fine on my computer, but I'm afraid that when it comes to the press, there will be a problem of missing fonts. Does anyone know a work around, or how to acquire this font for use in Indesign?

That could be caused by a few different possibilities:

What is the police Symbol used in a linked picture?

The Symbol font is used in a paragraph or character style? (See box "Redefine style when changing all" in search a font.)

Is is a bullet in a bulleted list? (Convert all lists bulleted text under Bullets and numbers, and try again to search for a font.)
