Copy of files slow PowerEdge 2900 with SBS2003 to Windows XP Client

Hello

We have a PE2900 SBS2003 Premium running with Windows XP clients. Copying files between the server and a client PC is VERY slow (e.g. 3-4 minutes for a 14 MB file). Copy on the server from the same client PC is VERY fast (a few seconds). Can any one help notice on accelerating the speed of the server copy? I post here and in the hardware forum as I'm not sure where the problem lies.

FYI the PE2900 has a NIC Dell installed/configured Broadcom BCM5708C NetXtreme II GigE (NDIS VBD customer) clocked at 1 GB. The XP client has a Broadcom NetXtreme 57xx Gigabit Controller NIC running at 100 Mb. speeds on both network adapters are set to Auto in the Windows Device Manager network adapters dialog-Advanced tab. All devices operate via a switch of 3448 10 / 100 / 1000Mb Dell PowerConnect with server connected to a Gigabit Ethernet port and the clients connected to the ports 10 / 100Mb.

BTW, we also have a 'old' PE1400SC exemplary on the same network running SBS2000 (100 MB) and between that and our customers work quickly both ways!

Any help would be appreciated.

Add the URL of the application to the trusted sites list and disable pop-up blockers. In addition, please confirm that you have no errors in the database log file.

  • PowerEdge 2900 showing predicted failure after disk replacement

    Hello

I posted this same message in the forum of the disk drives, then I realized there's a specific forum for disks hard server so I'm copying here.

We have a Poweredge 2900 with HDs 2x500Gb on RAID-1. One of the drives has failed and we replaced it with an identical disk that works very well (same brand, model number Seagate, etc.), but without a Dell PN.

After replacement, the controller began to rebuild the RAID, but it shows "predicted failure = Yes" for this new album. The disc is currently still under reconstruction.

One thing to notice is that apparently the Perc firmware is outdated. OpenManage shows that the current Perc 6 / i firmware version is 6.0.2 - 0002, and the minimum required version of the firmware is 6.2.0 - 0012. If I go to the Dell support site and enter a label for the Server service, it shows me a download available for the Perc firmware with version 6.3.3 - 0002.

    The questions are:

-Is generally allowed to use not Dell certified readers if they are of the same brand and model as the other disk?

-How would I determine the source for the warning of predicted failure?

-It would have something to do with obsolete Perc firmware? Are there risks associated with Perc firmware upgrade?

Thank you very much in advance for your help!

Update for our fans to the forum thread. Original poster concluded that used replacement drive was indeed bad. He is later replaced by a good drive and will update the server accordingly.

  • I get an error "Setup cannot copy the file els.dll" during the installation of Service Pack 3.

The installation fails every time with this error. I can see and select the file in the temp folder, but it won't work. Any help would be appreciated. '

Original title: 'Setup cannot copy the file els.dll' during the upgrade to Windows XP SP2 to SP3.

In fact, I corrected it an hour ago and was meaning that close the message. I cleaned with CCleaner temporary files, downloaded the SP3 Installer on its own (no windows update) and disabled the antivirus. I was able to complete the installation.

    Thanks for the reply!

    Hi all!
I try to format my PC and what configuration is loading my Kingston USB key, said he: Setup cannot copy the file XPtspCom.inf.

I use Windows XP Professional Edition SP3.
How do slove this problem please to continue to work with my PC?
    Thanks in advance!

You should not use these programs, but if you want a USB key to install then you should make an ISO file and then using Unebootin according to me this is a best software to USB for xp and if you have windows 7 installed in one of your system, then you can use tool usb windows 7.

  • PowerEdge 2900 Perc 6 / i internal Raid Controller

OK, so I use a server Dell PowerEdge 2900 with a PERC 6 / i integrated RAID controller

I have configured the RAID array very well, installed Windows 2008 R2 and works fine and dandy

The only problem I encounter is that, when starting the server (Post), I get a message on the cable SAS B are not connected or misconfigured.  The bottom of the basket on my server, which goes to the internal drives, has only a port where I can plug a cable between the Perc 6 / i.  Where is the 2nd wire supposed to go?  I can't find the second port.

    Thank you

    Hello

    joeyjojo56
I get a message on the cable SAS B are not connected or misconfigured.  The bottom of the basket on my server, which goes to the internal drives, has only a port where I can plug a cable between the Perc 6 / i.  Where is the 2nd wire supposed to go?  I can't find the second port.

PERC connector 0 goes to the bottom of basket. Connector on the PERC 1 connects to the modular Bay. If you don't have the module Bay optional then you ensure that you use the 0 on the PERC and not the connector 1.

    Thank you

  • Copy the files from ESXi vmware.log

    All,

Need a bit of help here. We were asked to keep the vmware*.log files in the folder of each VM. Using the viToolkitExtensions, I can get the files in each directory, but I can't get copied off in my server Windows so that they can be saved. It has been suggested that I use TkeDatastoreFile copy, but I ran into a wall, make it work. Here's what I have so far, once connected to the VC.

    $x = get-VM VMNAME | Get - views | % {$_.config.files.vmpathname}

    $y = $x Extract-TkeDatastorePathElements

    $z = get-datastore $y.datastore | Get-tkedatastorefile | where {$_ .path - like "vmwareJournal"}

I can now browse each journal found in the folder, but I can't get copy-tkeDatastoreFile work to copy each file to a destination on the Server Windows where the script will run, for example D:\Data\logs. Any ideas on how I finish that?

    Gary

Here's a transcript of a session that has worked for me. I added - noSize - noType and - noModification to Get TkeDatastoreFile because it speeds up things a bit.

  • Problem with OpenManage on a T300 with R2 2012 Windows

When I install OpenManage on a PowerEdge T300 with R2 2012 Windows and it is originally a 'limited' warning of network connectivity and connection to the gateway is lost. I have to run a network card 'repair' every time that the alert go away and the restored network connection. Even after a reboot, I still have to run the repair. When I uninstall OMSA network card works fine. I tried OMSA version 7.3, 7.4, 7.4.0.2, 8.1. The matrix of compatibility on the Dell site seems to show that it should be compatible with 8.1 and 7.4 (on a T300 with 2012 R2). Our network card is a Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit (version 17.0.0.3 driver). Everyone knows about this problem? I come to a legacy version, although compatibility documentation does not appear 2012 R2 as as operating system supported?

    Tstout21,

The problem you are having sounds like an updated version of firmware on the network card. I suggest you uninstall OMSA, then restart and update the network map. Although the update of the firmware should fix, I suggest that we update the driver as well up-to-date. You can not the driver and firmware here. After completing the updates, restart and go forward then reinstall OMSA.

Let me know how it goes.

  • Why is still as slow as Vista with copying files from Windows 7?

I expect Windows 7 to be quick to copy a file, as this has been one of the sour points with Vista.  However, there is no difference!  How can we get back to XP speed regarding copying files in Windows 7?

I expect Windows 7 to be quick to copy a file, as this has been one of the sour points with Vista.  However, there is no difference!  How can we get back to XP speed regarding copying files in Windows 7?

Background intelligent transfer service has been my problem.

    Changed to manual/stopped.

Win 7 slow, moving and copying files, all fixed.

Update - BITS was not the problem. Do not disable.

After a new installation on a new HARD drive, I had the same problems.

I have an ATI FireGL v5600 graphics card. After I have updated to Feb. 2012 pilot, NO more problems.

I have long suspected that the graphics card was the problem. Problem solved for me.

Best advice: update all drivers as soon as possible.

  • Why can't I managed to install the iso file in my USB? I've tried different usb and hard drives and disassembled a lot or time usb but when, it comes up with an error copying the files on and it stops loading? What should I do?

Why am I unable to download and copy iso files that need to go into the USB drive, it always comes up with an error when copying the installation files and none of the solutions have worked (some of the things I've tried are different from the USB, disassemble and repeat the download process windows files)

You cannot use a simple USB as a source and destination. You must copy the ISO file (it's a single file, not the full installer) in your Documents folder and then run BCA to create a USB installation program. 2015 macs do not create a USB installation program.

    bastyav,
We use the exact and some error message in more detail on the issue.  This problem occurs with any file on the disk or only some of them?  You are logged as administrator?  Has anything changed recently (hardware or software)?

The first thing I would say to run a Virus scan and malware.  If you do not have an antivirus program, then you can get one here: http://www.microsoft.com/Security_essentials/

If there are no problems found then not try the following steps:
    Run the following commands.

    Chkdsk /r

    sfc/scannow
