Copy-paste/Clipboard bug in Windows 7 if the target is not open before the copy operation

Copy-paste/Clipboard bug in Windows 7 if the target is not open before the copy operation

Behavior of copy - paste doesn't seem to work properly in Win7.

I just migrated to a new machine of Windows 7 with new Office 2010 installed where I performed tests on the problem.

If I copy the text to the Clipboard from an application open MS (for example Excel, but also other programs MS like windows Explorer, internet Explorer, etc.), and then open a fresh word (one instance open) document and paste the text, it appears as an oval-shaped blob image.

Similarly the same problem when I subsequently open apps package and try to make a hem

The problem does not arise

1. If the fresh Word document is already open before doing the copy operation

2. If another document is already open before doing the copy operation

3. If the copy on an Excel cell (for example) make it, stick first to Excel, and then open a fresh Word document (single instance) and paste to that

It is not just Word. Other target applications get the unwanted copy if they are open between the copy and paste.

This bug is not present in XP.

Thank you very much.

OK, it's more clear now. It is Office 2010 which trashes the Clipboard when the first instance of a program Office 2010 is open (well, I tried only Excel and Word).

Scenario 1: Open Excel, write a few essays in a cell, copier, copy to the Clipboard, open the new Word document, paste that and the oval blob error occurs

Scenario 2: Open Word, write a few characters test, copier, copy to the Clipboard, open new worksheet Excel, paste that and the oval blob error occurs

Scenario 3: Open Word, write a few test characters, copy to the Clipboard, close the word document, open it again, dough one and the oval blob error occurs

Scenario 4: Open Word, write a few characters test, copy to the Clipboard, open another document, paste and no error occurs

Scenario 5: With Excel and Word open, first cut an and stick to the others - works fine

Conclusion: the windows clipboard is always corrupted when the first instance of an Office application is opened.

Kind regards

Andrew

    Thank you

    Hi Mike,.

According to my experience, this kind of behaviour is symptomatic of the corruption of data on the hard drive. However, since you say that these applications work sometimes I am inclined to suspect that your hard drive may be failing, possibly with errors in sector where those applications reside.

I suggest that you take a backup copy of the any of your own data files and then run a CHKDSK command on your hard drive to see what he finds (this can make a right click on the HARD drive in my computer icon, then select Properties, then the Tools tab.) Check disk utility is at the top).

If it detects too many bad sectors, and then looking to replace the hard drive and reinstalling your system.

    Kind regards

  • Windows XP to the next operating system

I am a retired Senior who is a limited income.  I have Windows XP on my computer

I love him, but knows that she will become not secured soon.  My problem is that I can't afford to buy

a new computer or the next OS System.  So what am I, I guess what to do now?  Help?

Computers with a good performance that include Windows 7 or Windows 8 may be purchased for amounts relatively small (for example, $ 400 to $ 600).

If you don't spend any money, then you have two choices:

    1. Keep Windows XP and use your computer with care

      • do not click on links in the e-mail
      • do not open email attachments
      • do not go to dodgy websites
      • do not download the software that you don't know is safe
      • do not use peer-to-peer file sharing
      • In general, see http://www.techsupportalert.com/safe-hex-safe-computing-practices.htm
      • Install an antivirus program that will run on XP and keep up to date (Microsoft will continue to allow Microsoft Security Essentials XP at least one year; I suspect that other companies will keep support for XP at least as long, if not more)
    2. Replace Windows XP with a version of Linux (and use your computer with caution).
      • There are several "distributions" (distributions) or Linux versions that include a user-friendly interface which are pretty "Windows-like."
      • There are a few commercial versions of Linux which must be purchased, in general, Linux is free
      • The installation package usually contains at least a browser (Firefox or Google Chrome), an e-mail client, a multimedia player and often an Office suite (similar to Microsoft Office).
      • You will need to do some research at the time to choose a distro and - once chosen - to familiarise yourself with its operation.
        • There are too many distributions and too many opinions to give you a recommendation.  See some of the articles found in this research--> https://www.google.com/#q=best+linux+distro+for+beginners+2014
        • Or ask for advice at your local public library, senior center, computer club, or any other resource local tech

    Hello

I was surfing the net this morning, and in the background, I was installing "Logmein". I guess the site I got it off the coast is legitimate, as many of my friends installed it for playing games on a network. This is the site I downloaded from https://secure.logmein.com/products/hamachi2/download.aspx

While he was installing my laptop froze and ctrl + alt + delete does not work so I turned it off by holding down the power button and transformed then turn it on again.

It is now charging a screen that says "Windows error recovery" and has an option 'Launch Startup Repair' or 'start windows normally '. What that either an i select the result is the same--a screen that says "windows is loading files...". "followed by a login screen empty with only the cursor for the company, as shown in the image below:

I have no idea what to do and this is the first real problem that I have not been able to solve in the 2 years Ive had it.

I tried all the options in the "Advanced Boot Options" (F8 at startup) menu in the hope that something different happen, but every time is the same as the last.

I am running windows 7 premium x 64 on the Sony Vaio VGN-NW20SF. My laptop came with a disc of windows 7, so I can't reformat. I do not have the back for awhile and there are files, I want to keep if possible.

Any help would me much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Lewis

    Hello Lewis Tumelty,.

LogMeIn replaces the native for Windows login prompt.

If we are unable to boot into safe mode, we will need to use the repair your computer option command prompt in the F8 menu.

After this was accomplished, I recommend the following market article, the registry is probably corrupted:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/307545

Note that this article was written for Windows XP, but the steps are the same in Windows 7.

  • Frfx opens, showing the home page in small icon in the lower bar of Windows 7. But it does not open with a mode full screen. Tried to uninstall and download the most recent. Did not help...

I opened Frefx and shows a small icon of homepage above the bar at the bottom of Win7. But I can't open a whole page or use Firefox. I tried to uninstall and then install a newer version, but this does not solve the problem. Had to go back to IE

You can find your profile folder and start safe mode, manually, without using the inaccessible features.

In Windows 7, your profile folder is usually on a path similar to this:

    \AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\ProfilesyourusernameC:\Users\

This article contains more information on this: profiles | How | Firefox Help. Your profile folder a usually 'default' in the name. Make a copy of this file somewhere safe.

To start Firefox in Mode safe, close all Firefox Windows, and then hold down the SHIFT key and restart Firefox. (I got that from the article, but have not actually tested!) Then you should be able to tick the box "Reset Toolbars and controls."

    ---

Alternatively, do you have the menus and toolbars when you started this page in the search box?

    http://dev.jeffersonscher.com/jstest.html

If so, you could do it again and then start mode without failure there.

    Hello Jaycub,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community Forum.

What is the brand and model number. the phone?

The question may arise for various reasons, including a problem with the USB, all recent software update etc. So, I would suggest trying the following steps and check if the problem still persists.

    Method 1:

Please, try the steps in the following Knowledge Base article.

Windows Phone 8 is not detected by your computer

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/2749484/en

    Method 2:

You too, try the next solution.

Try to log in and cancel the success of sync, then try to uncheck auto sync - I hope that this should prevent the app crash the next time you connect.
For more information on uncheck auto sync, please see the following thread:

    http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/WinPhone/Forum/wp8-wpstart/wp8-connector-for-OSX-crashing-on-launch/fbe20bb0-2bcf-4B86-a1f9-fffaa69ac1eb?page=3

Hope this information is useful. If the problem still persists, please post back for further assistance, we will be happy to help you.
