  Hi all -

  I noticed that on Windows 7 command prompt, if you type the COMMAND (it must be uppercase), it transfers you to another line of command that reads:

  Microsoft (R) Windows BACK

  (C) Copyright Microsoft Corp. 1990-2001.

  Is it in any ay different from that of the ordinary command line, or if it doesn't work anymore like BACK than the ordinary command prompt?

  command.comis a MS-DOS 16-bit application. It loads a simulated environment of 16 bits in the form of ntvdm.exe (NT Virtual BACK Machine; NTVDM). You will see ntvdm.exe listed in the Task Manager process tab.

  cmd.exe is 32-bit.

  You do not get command.com on 64-bit operating systems.

  I don't think THAT you must type in capital letters. Heh

  You can use the loops GarageBand off charge, even for commercial products, but YouTube is free restrict the display of any song, if this is any claim to the copy just by other parties:

  The GarageBand software license agreement says:

  "GarageBand software. You can use the Apple and third party audio loop content (Audio), contained in or otherwise included with the Apple software, on a royalty-free basis, to create your own original compositions of music or audio projects. You may broadcast and/or distribute your own musical compositions or audio projects that were created using the Audio content, however, individual audio loops may not be commercially or otherwise distributed on a standalone basis, nor can they be repackaged in whole part as audio samples, sound effects or musical atmospheres. »

  So don't worry, you can make commercial music with GarageBand, you just can't distribute the loops loops.

  I used the ecological system of the Copyright Office in Firefox on Windows without any complications that I remember. You may need to allow popups or Flash in order to get the media uploader to work. Usually, Firefox will display a notification if a popup or a plugin is blocked and you can click to enable it. Sometimes you may need to reload the page or close and restart the window after that.

  Hello Marlin29, this is currently an issue in firefox when you close all firefox windows open first and then close the application subsequently - the bug should be addressed in a more recent version of firefox.

  a workaround in the meantime, you could close firefox (via firefox > quit) while the browser window is still running or try this: enter: config in the firefox address bar (confirm the message information where it appears) & search preference named browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash. Double-click it and change its value to false.

• Utility disk and MS DOS

  One of my friends asked me to try to format a 8 TB new drive he bought. He needs to FAT32 for his playstation and I think it is either running leopard or snow leopard. I've got El capitan.

  What he did:

  Initially the ability to format with MS-DOS was dimmed, he partitioned the drive into partitions of 7.9 TB and 0.1 and the ability to format to MS DOS became available, he went ahead and disk utility reported that have successfully completed. I suspect that he does not check readers reported sizes in the finder at this stage, but when he turned on his PC that reported the largest partition 1.68 TB.

  It has reconnected to the Mac and re-partioned into partitions of 2 x 4TB with much the same result.

  What I did:

  When I plugged the drive, Get info reported volumes 2 x 1.8 TB but made each utility disk volume count volumes of 2 x 4TB with 2.2 TB of space in use. I then wiped the drive and created a 8TB Mac OS volume that has been reported correctly in the finder and in disk utility. The ability to format in the MS-DOS was available on my Mac even if it was divided into a single volume of 8 TB, I am gone ahead and utility disk has reported formatting was successful but get info reported a single figure of 1.8 to.

  I tried since a 7.8/divided 0.2 TB and ended with only a volume of 1.2 to get info and 6.6 TB of space used of the CT 7.8 according to disk utility.

  The thing is every book that I try again with MS DOS I seem to get a smaller usable volume.

  I'm not familiar with the help of MS-DOS formatted, but we had problems when it restructured a 2 GB usb key that we sometimes in the past, although I suspect that he reformatted his PC. So I don't know if there is a problem with a 8 TB disk, disk utility or even its PC.

  FWIW, Microsoft has imposed a limit of 32 GB for FAT/FAT32 partitions, but it is possible to create partitions of 2 TB. I suspect that's what you see.

  You should be able to create 4 partitions of 2 TB ExFAT.

  It looks like a known issue reported here:

  There was a workaround solution posted, but I have not tested it myself. Here are the steps.

  1. Go to the Yahoo Messenger Options - change the window in the tab menu and press OK.
  2. Then go back and switch to the small window and press OK.

  Once the bug is resolved formally, you could try to run every night or Aurora build to use the hotfix at the beginning.

  I try to install any operating system (DOS, or a Microsoft Windows operating system specifically) on a Toshiba Portege 610CT. The hard drive in the unit has been cleared, and the system boot with the message:

  No floppy drive or CD-ROM drive, I try to use a 2.5 "to 3.5" adapter player with my PC to install all the files necessary to boot the system.

  (a) can you tell me which files I need to have installed on the hard drive to have it boot properly?

  (c) could advise me an other resources regarding the 610 CT and fresh OS installs?

  The fact is that you have 13 laptop and I am quite skeptical that someone will write here the whole story how to get this laptop for work. After reading your ad, I was a little concerned about this laptop and I found the info Portege 610CT shipped with Windows 95.

  I also checked the Toshiba support page and there you can find the drivers and utilities for this model of laptop. Anyway, if I remember well do like this:

  Move the hard drive in the laptop with a CD-ROM, but instead of install, just copy the CD of windows 95 disk hard (if there is a folder win95 on CD all you need).
  Then put back the hard drive in the laptop Portege, go to this directory and launch the installation.
