Media Player Vista

I installed a new ProDefender 5 in 1 software after the expiration of the removal of the year last version on my Vista operating system.  I can't use my windows media player.  Whenever I try to open, I get an error message saying that the program will "not be downloaded correctly" and he asks me if I want to download now. It worked great for over a year before I installed the anti-virus.

Help!

  • Got its not visual on Media player Vista

I have Vista. My Windows Media Player transmits the sound from a chess site, but no visuals.

I have read several posts on this topic and have no idea what they mean. I do not know a codec of a Badger, much less how to replace this unit or this security system and reprogram my Dell laptop.

I wonder you think that those who are actually answers.

I downloaded as much 'updates' on the media player I can find. No luck.

It's old stuff. No problem with my old XP. I know that Vista is already old in your standards, but you know what? It still needs work.

If there is a solution that a human being can follow in less than ten hours of screen reading online and without ruining his computer, please let me know what it might be.

I am appalled to see that Vista can't handle this simple function that was never a problem on previous windows systems, I've had.

    Bill banks

    Hello Bill1809,

Ø you're reading of the content online to your Media Player?

You have this problem with videos or special videos that you are trying to play online?

There are some file formats that require codecs to be installed to read the file type.

Here is an article that should give you information about what a codec is:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/FAQ/codec.mspx

Also check if your proxy settings are correct check that your proxy settings are correct:

    1. in Windows Media Player, on the Tools menu, click Options.

    2. in the Options dialog box, under the network tab, in the Streaming proxy settings area, check your settings. If you don't know what should be the proxy settings, select a Protocol, click on configure and then in the dialog box Configure Protocol, select automatically detect the proxy settings or use Web browser proxy settings. (The last parameter is available for the HTTP protocol only).

    wileycoyote2,
Thank you for visiting the Microsoft Answers community forum.

It would be useful to have more information about what went on when the accident happened as you listen to music, watch a movie, burning a CD. etc.  Thus, all information about your system would be useful

This could be caused by a number of things.  So without more information, we'll start with a few basics.

Any third party CD/DVD burning software can cause problems, especially if you have tried to remove it and it does not uninstall completely.  So if you removed something like Nero or Roxie, go to their web site and download a removal tool which will get rid of their overs left.

You might have corrupted the file system, we will run the system for that files Checker:
To run the System File Checker tool, follow these steps:
Click Start and type cmd in the box start the search.
Right click on cmd in the list programs, and then click Run as administrator.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue
At the command prompt, type the following line and press ENTER:
    sfc/scannow
When the analysis is complete, test to see if the problem you are experiencing is resolved.

You can also try to restore the system to a point in time before the problem started.
To restore the operating system to an earlier point in time, follow these steps:
Click Start, type system restore in the search box, and then click System Restore in the list programs.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue.
In the System Restore dialog box, click on choose a different restore point and then click Next.
In the list of restore points, click a restore point created before you started having the problem, and then click Next.
    Click Finish.
The computer restarts and system files and settings are back to the State they were in when the restore point was created.

Let us know how it works and the information requested if you would like more information.
    Thank you

    ========================================
If it's a data CD you don't have to RIP it... You can
Just copy the MP3 files in a folder on your hard drive
and then add them to your library.

If you insert the disc into your optical drive and proceed to
Start / computer or click the drive letter
that drive and choose Explore... you can see the
Directory for the drive? OK now... just copy and paste
MP3 files in a folder on your hard drive.

    Hello bsstanfield619,

    ·        Have you an error when you try to play DVD on Media Player?

    ·        This happens with all DVDs you play or any particular format of DVD?

    ·        Have you checked if the DVD work on another computer?

    ·        What is the extension of the files you are trying to play from the DVD?

You might not have the required codecs to play the DVD on your computer. It would depend on new type of file that you are trying to play from the DVD.

I recently updated my Qosmio F20 for Vista.
I got most of the job functions, but my SD card reader and fixed keys for media player still haven't.

I can't find the drivers for them (I don't think they exist for a F20) so I was wondering if anyone had a solution.

    Thank you

    Hi faarn

You can't find the Vista drivers as Vista don t drivers is on the page of Toshiba. Some people have posted a link to the official document on the units of Vista support and the Qosmio G and F20 was not on the list.

But another clue. Check the drivers in another series as F30 or G30. But the chances are small that the pilots will run
