  When you want to run sfc/scannow now, you need to run in "elevated command prompt."

  Follow these steps:

  Please bear with me here that I try to explain all the questions I have with my computer right now. I'll try to explain everything that self-organization as possible, but if you need more information or file papers to provide a solution more precise, do it me know.

  To start, I use a HP Pavilion dv6000 series (dv6748us to be exact) with Windows Vista Home Premium (32 bit) installed. (Service pack 2). About 6 months ago I got this laptop from what I believe was the conflicker virus (kept forwarding pages, arrested updates and antivirus programs, etc.) and I managed to get Windows Update works again. My help and Support did not work well, it only worked in Mode without failure, so I did some research and tried a bunch of suggested corrections (update the registry, etc.) and got it work yet once again. I don't know if one of the tools that I used all by setting the Help & Support could have caused problems that I now (as I literally tried everything under the Sun until I got to work), but my Windows Update does not work properly again.

  A few weeks ago, I installed some updates and restarted the computer, but updates did not finish install on reboot. He said the usual "Configuring Updates, do not turn off your computer", but never showed percentage complete or whatever it is. It restarted, and when I open Windows Update, he said the last time I checked the updates has never been (obviously not true), and when I tried to check the updates, it jumped right to the message telling me I have to restart my computer to complete the installation of updates. She continues to do everytime I open Windows Update.   I don't know that this is not what you want to hear.  However, from the beginning of your notes, you said that the system was installed with an invalid Windows operating system CD and since you bought Windows XP SP 2, which is the authentic product.  If I am wrong please correct me.

  If you try to run SFC scannow from Windows XP SP2, you will continue to receive the request for the additional CD cover Service Pack 3.

  If you have two options:

  (1) do a fresh install with the Windows XP SP2 and upgrade to SP3 on sites I've proposed below.

  or

  (2) simply download the Service Pack 3 of one of the websites below and use this CD to finish the scannow SFC.

  I think you'd be a lot better off takeing the time to back up all your important documents and files.

  Provide information on your system, the better you can:

  What is your system brand and model?

  What is your Version of XP and the Service Pack?

  Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..

  The afflicted system has a working CD/DVD (internal or external) drive?

  You have a genuine XP installation CD bootable, which is the same Service as your installed Service Pack (this is not the same as any recovery CD provided with your system)?

  If the system works, what do you think might have changed since the last time it did not work properly?

  What is the problem you are experiencing that you think that sfc/scannow will correct?

  See if the remote procedure call (RPC) Service is running.   If it is not executed, it should run and many other things will not work if the RPC Service is not running.

  To do this, click Start, run and enter in the box:

  services.msc

  Click OK to launch the Services applet.

  Locate the remote procedure call (RPC) Service and see what he says in the status and Startup Type columns.

  CD looking for the file system (CFS) checker is the Windows XP installation CD.  If you need a CD with service pack 3, you must combine sp3 with a CD of full installation that includes sp1, 1a or 2.  If your XP CD is 'original' (i.e. pre-service pack 1), you will need to integrate sp2 (or sp1a) first, then the sp3.  Seehttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/322389

When I got this error, I had a mid-2012 Mac Pro running El Capitan 10.11.2 and an Apple ATI Radeon HD5770.  You can't update the drivers with Apple, but El Capitan should have giving me the latest video drivers.

  First try to open but after loading everything it errored out with the "can't find a video playback device adapted." A very cryptic message in my way of thinking. They mean the monitor, video card or what?  In any case, I decided that I must have my video card, so I bought a 4 GB Nvidia GTX 970 MacCards.com card, put it in and got the latest drivers for it, than MacCards.com current guard.  This resulted in no gain.   After an upgrade from Vista to Windows 7, everything on the system seemed to work properly. up to what I tried to re - install everything deleted software or install new software.  As soon as Windows Installer starts the following error message appears: "error 1325 - 'Documents' is not a valid short file name.

  If this could have something to do with the new pads MSFT security permissions on folders (with padlock) during a upgrade as well as related hidden junctions by compared to the user by the system?

  I tried to install the update system of Lenovo and MSFT Windows Installer Clean Up clean in the hope that the software would help alleviate my problems. See below the link on advice from MSFT on the same error.

  Unfortunately, I cannot even load the previously recommended THAT MSFT software to solve this error.  I also tried to install the software as 'Run as Administrator' and in 'Safe Mode '.  Even if I could not load the software recommended to MSFT, I was able to install iTunes to Apple through Apple Software Update, I guess, that they do not use Windows Installer.

  With the new structure of junction there is several files or links to the same folder across file system, if it is a folder authorization number which specific files/links are I need to remove restrictions?

  Any help would be appreciated, if not I'll have to do a clean install and individually reinstall each piece of software... Thank you.

  I think I found the solution for this point, because I have just encountered the same problem in our environment and here's what I did to solve it:

  -Create a higher level permissions at the root of the folder redirection (for example \\servername\mydocredirfolder): grant the Group authenticated users the following permissions and apply it to "this folder only" ALLOW: list folders/read data, reading, reading attributes, read extended attributes, create files / add data

  I think the MSI is trying to read the free space on the disk on the server, but it cannot because it tries to access the folder where your my documents redirection is sitting.
