Corrupted Windows Installer on the new Windows 7 laptop

I recently bought a new Dell Studio laptop, running Windows 7 (64-bit).  It is my first experience with this new version of Windows.  After search for and resolve a number of issues, I have still a few that I can't get rid of, and all these point to a corrupt Windows Installer (for example, when you try to install Windows Mobile Device Center, I get a dialog box saying "Windows Installer Service could not be accessed.  This can occur if Windows Installer is not installed properly.  Contact your assistance support team. ».  As is my personal laptop at home, I have no support staff).  I saw a number of detailed instructions on how to fix this in XP and Vista, but nothing specific to 7.  And when I try to find the correct file to download on the Microsoft site, all the ones I looked at seems to say that they are not compatible with my system.  Can someone tell me how to solve this problem?

First of all, make sure you have Windows Installer installed:

1. right click on an empty area of the taskbar, and select Task Manager.
2. click on the Services tab in top then Services button at the bottom.
3. see if you can find the Windows Installer service and if its started.

.. .on mine in manual/stopped.

If its missing or damaged for some reason, try to see if a SFC scan will fix it:

1. click on start-> Accessories then do a right click on command prompt.
2. Select run as administrator.
3. type SFC/scannow
4. a scan that will take a few minutes to complete turns on. If possible SFC will be auto-fix any problem files.

All the answers and suggestions are provided by an enthusiastic amateur and are therefore no explicit or implicit guarantee. Basically, you use my suggestions at your own risk.

My working group stopped working after the installation of the new wireless router.  Router was switched were to move from DSL to fiber optic.

I have a very simple home with two laptops working group, the two are connected with a wireless router.  A PC is running XP with the updates and service packs; the other PC is Windows 7 Home premium.  This working group was running without problems for a few years.  The Working Group has been used to share files between two laptops.  Internet access was through the DSL wireless router and print was with a wireless printer, without going through the working group.

I had my DSL set out to free fiber optic last week, which meant that a new wireless router has been installed by my local phone company.  Internet works fine; wireless printer works.  The working group no longer works.  When I try to connect from XP to Win7 and I click on mode workgroup computers, I get this message:

WorkGroupName is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.

The network path was not found.

I tried to create a new working group, the new name for the same workgroup on both machines, but this did not help.  Working groups are supposed to be simple; This seems to be a problem on the new router - telco tech support says that nothing is stuck on the router. I don't believe them.

What version of XP you use (Home or Pro)?

Can you access the Win 7 a XP computer?

You have identical accounts, passwords on both computers?

If all that was done was to change routers without making any changes on the computers, the most likely cause of the problem is a third party (other than Windows) firewall on at least one of the computers.  Being by default, a router automatically assigns IP addresses to computers on your local network.  Different brands of routers, but use different address ranges.  For example, Cisco/Linksys routers typically use the 192.168 form addresses. 1.1 with 192.168. 1. 254, while the D-Link routers typically use 192.168.1 to 192.168.0.0. 254.  A firewall configured to allow only the first IP range blocks communication to the scope of the latter.

So... What is the name and version of your anti-virus program?
What other security software is installed?

On every laptop computer, open a command prompt window
for XP: start > run > cmd > OK
for Win 7: type cmd.exe in the search box and press enter
In the black command prompt window, type the following command and press enter

  • Cursor not moving/working after the installation of the new keyboard

I just finished replacing the keyboard on my HP G72 due to spill water on the keyboard a few days ago & some keys no longer work after laptop parched. However, I find that things are not as they should because I can't get the cursor to move. I do not use a mouse & rely on the touchpad. I tried to remove the keyboard & reinstall several times but all about no. avail & wonder if anyone can give me some advice, even if it is the keyboard itself may be defective & I need to buy a new one. I don't want to just assume there is a problem with this new keyboard only to discover that the problem is somewhere else & that there is other things I should be doing or trying.

I had to install a new keyboard on this computer laptop sometimes last year afer having a similar accident with the flow of the water, but the installation of the new time was pretty much a piece of cake, I followed the guides on the screen, I have been looking & everything was perfect, once I had installed the new keyboard.

Thank you if you can advise.

    Hello

If possible, try a USB mouse for awhile. This way if the slider works, you can try reinstalling the drivers for the touchpad that could solve the problem. If the cursor does not work with an external mouse also then the problem could be hardware related.

Sometimes to repeat the installation process of the keyboard all over again also helps.

  • update of Windows 8 corrupt my installation of the HP software

I have a HP C7280 all-in-one on a wired network connection. I have a desktop Windows 8 with the HP software installed. It worked fine until a week or so, when I discovered that among the updates of Windows 8 installed corrupted my installation of HP. I don't remember precisely the update was responsible, but there was about 24 Windows updates installed so far this month. Now when I try to open the HP Solution Center, I receive a message indicating that the configuration is not complete and re - install. I have downloaded the software suite, performed a "Uninstall" and then reinstalled the software. However, the printer still fails to complete now.  I could perform a restore of the system to a date in early October and then disable the updates of windows. But this isn't an optimal solution.

So, I'm stuck and could use some help.

I found the updates of Windows 8 corrupt my HP environment security. Maybe it's just my computer Windows 8 (x 64) pro, but if you have the same problem I did, see if the follow-up to the security update is installed.

  • Correct installation of the new hard drive for Windows 7

Have a disk hard fatal crash with Dell OEM Windows 7on, so I bought a new hard drive compatible system and have my old system Win 7/recovery of data on a memory stick. It's been years that last I formatted, partitioned and installed an operating system on a new hard drive and I totally forgot how it's done. Vaguely remember some DOS commands were required to work out of BIOS (?). Can anyone list the individual measures to be taken, assuming that the hard drive is physically installed and turned on? It would be a great help!

Unless this stick memory has on her installation files as well, you cannot reinstall win7 on the new hard drive

You will need the DVD / or the ISO of Win7.

And no you do not need BACK. Just the dvd or ISO / to boot from. Then you can format / partition in the configuration screen

  • Error in the installation of the new iTunes update. Windows 7, 32 bit.

    Hi all

After download and save the last iTunes updated during the installation I received the message "Service"Apple Mobile Service"was able to start. Make sure you have sufficient privileges to start system services"pressing retry, I received the same message. Pressing Cancel, the installation of the canceled update. Ignore pressing them, I got a successful installation message. Then, by double-clicking on the shortcut for the program, I received the message "Itunes is not installed correctly. Please, reinstall ITunes.  Error 7 (Windows error 126).

I followed the whole procedure to uninstall ITunes, update the software Apple, Apple Mobile Device Support, Hello and Apple Application Support.

I restarted my computer. I ran the apdate as administrator and I'm done with the same message that icudt49.dll is missing on my computer.

I received, in addition, the message MSVCR80.dll is missing on my computer.

I went to the Services section and tried to start 'Apple Mobile Service' (it was my first error during installation). I received the error 1053, the service did not open on time.

I tried sfc / scannow without error message. In fact the screen in the command line moved up very quickly.

I visited the Itunes support page with the same results.

I apologize for this very long document.

Any idea to solve this problem? It seems that the update is incorrect. Do you agree?

INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE bug control has a value of 0x0000007B. This bug check indicates that the Microsoft Windows operating system has lost access to the system partition during startup.

Important information if you have received a STOP Code

If you have received a blue screen error, or stop code, the computer stopped abruptly to protect against data loss. A hardware device, its driver or software might have caused this error. If your copy of Windows is shipped with your computer, contact your computer manufacturer. If you purchased Windows separately from your computer, Microsoft provides support. To find contact information for Microsoft or the manufacturer of your computer connect with Support.

If you have experience with computers and try to recover from this error, follow the steps in the Microsoft article solution STOP (blue screen) errors in Windows.

The following actions could prevent a mistake like this does not happen:

    1. Download and install updates for your computer from Windows Update device drivers.
    2. Scan your computer for computer viruses.
    3. Check your hard drive for errors.

    Cause

Bug INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE control often occurs due to a failure of the boot device. During the initialization of the I/O system, the boot device driver could have no initialize the boot device (usually a hard drive). Initialization of file system may have failed because it does not recognize the data on the boot device. In addition, repartition the system partition or installing a new SCSI adapter or disk controller could encourage this error.

This error can also occur because of incompatible disc material. If the error occurred in the initial configuration of the system, the system have maybe installed on an unsupported drive or a SCSI controller. Some controllers are supported only by the drivers that are in the library of drivers Windows (WDL). (These drivers require the user to perform a custom installation.)

    Resolution

This error always occurs during the startup of the system. This error often occurs before the debugger connection, kind of debugging can be difficult, if not impossible.

Fix a defective boot device: If a boot device is at fault, you must change the boot options. For more information changing these options, see Software Configuration on the target computer.

Solve a problem of incompatible hard disk: If the installation program automatically detects the controller, you may have to skip the detection and the disc of the specific manufacturer allows to load the driver. Also, check the availability of updates for the firmware of the system BIOS and SCSI controller. Updates of this kind are usually available on the website or BBS of the hardware manufacturer.

Delete all material recently added, especially of hard disks or controllers, to see if the error is resolved. If the problematic material is a hard drive, the firmware version of the drive may be incompatible with your version of the Windows operating system. Contact the manufacturer for updates. If you have removed another material element and the error is resolved, conflicts of port IRQ or i/o likely exist. Reconfigure the new device according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Confirm that the hard disk drivers, hard disk controllers and SCSI adapters are listed in the list of the products tested Microsoft Windows market.

If you have recently added a driver, restart your computer, and then press F8 to character-based menu that displays the choice of operating system. In the menu of Advanced Options , select the last known good Configuration option. This option is most effective when you add a single driver or service at a time.

In addition, check your computer for viruses using any update, commercial software that examines the Master Boot Record of the disk hard antivirus. All systems of Windows files can be infected by viruses.

This error can also occur due to corruption of the hard drive. Run Chkdsk /f /r on the system partition. You must restart the computer before the start of the analysis of disk. If you cannot start the computer due to the error, use the Recovery Console and run Chkdsk/r.

If you cannot start the system in the last known good configuration, you should try to boot from the Windows CD. Then, you can run Chkdsk from the Repair Console.

Warning   If your system partition is formatted with the FAT file system the long file names that use the Windows operating system could be damaged if you use Scandisk or another MS-DOS-based disk tool to verify the integrity of your hard disk from MS-DOS. Always use the version of Chkdsk that matches your version of Windows.

If your system has SCSI adapters, contact the card manufacturer for updated Windows drivers. Try to disable sync negotiation in the SCSI BIOS, check the wiring and the SCSI ID of each device and confirming the proper termination. For IDE devices, define the IDE port integrated as primary only. Also check each IDE device for setting good master/subordinate/stand alone . Try to remove all IDE devices except for the hard drives. Finally, check the system log in Event Viewer for additional error messages that might help identify the device or driver that generated the error.

  • How to share tabs between my various Firefox installations using the new system of accounts of Firefox?

I use Firefox Nightly (2014-02-18, 30.a1, x 64) on my laptop (Windows Pro 8.1 x 64) and I was using Firefox Beta on my Nexus 5 (Android 4.4.2). Recently, Mozilla announced the new system of accounts of Firefox (which replaces the old Firefox Sync account) and I created an account of Firefox for my computer laptop installation every night. Because the new account in Firefox does not work with the old Firefox Sync account, I replaced my installation Android of the beta version of Firefox with Firefox Nightly and signed account Firefox on my Android. However, when I try to send a tab of my Android installation to my installation of laptop using intend to 'Share for every night', every night asking me to implement a sync account, which is impossible to fill in my computer laptop system every night. I tried to replace my Android installation every night with an Android Aurora facility, but the same problem occurs.

What's worse, is that even with my laptop and Android facilities signed on the same account in Firefox, I'm not all information is synchronized between 2 facilities. No story is shared, and I don't see the list of tabs opened from the other device. I can't move tabs between my phone and my laptop, which is something I've used every week I visited websites and read that my RSS FEED on my phone. Does anyone know how to share tabs using Firefox's new accounts? Does anyone know why Firefox accounts doesn't seem to be synchronization of data between my 2 installations?

    Hi gfactor:

An update on this issue. I think that this (965811) was fixed in Firefox Beta 29.

Please try beta if you have some time (just search for Firefox Beta on the google play and then install firefox beta) and let us know if Firefox 29 beta sendtab now works for you.

  • HP T610 more: HPDM deployment for t610 image more crashes during the installation of the new initial start of the image

We are working on the update of our thin clients HP T610 more.  Update us the thin clients in the last image of the OS WES7P and also update to IE11 and Citrix receiver 4.4.

    We use HPDM 4.6.4

We have successfully several T610s and update the image of the OS and related software with no problems.  We are then able to use the 4.6.4 to successfully shoot HPDM and image of these thin clients updated in the master repository.

We then create a task to deploy the new image to several thin clients.  We configure the task to use the imagery being cached, and then run the task.  HPDM then successfully deploys the image for thin clients.

Customers accept the image cache and once the image is fully downloaded they restart to deploy the image.   After the restart, the image unfolds and decompresses correctly, then the thin client, start the original installation of Windows.

But for 90% or more of these newly imaged thin clients that they get hung up during the installation of Windows (usually during the message that windows is written to the Registry).  Once the thin clients get hung at this stage they are inaccessible and unrecoverable by HPDM and must be copied via USB.

We believe that the issue is somehow related monitors are connected to thin clients.  If isolate us completely thin clients monitors, then deploy an image the new image is OK.  HPDM reports that the image has been deployed successfully.  If we then go back to thin clients and reconnect the monitors of the thin client is updated and the screen seems to be in standard vga mode low resolution.  A restart of the thin client then recognizes and sets the appropriate screen resolution, and the thin client is good to go.

What is normal sound monitors must be separated to deploy a new image?

Thanks for any idea or thougts.

From the point of view HPDM, disconnect monitor is not required when you deploy the image. Personal thought is that there is a compatibility problem between the display driver, graphics card and the system. Installing Windows intend to write a default registry value based on connected monitor (maybe display settings), for some reason, he was stuck. I'm not the driver or the operating system that you are an expert, I would say that you submit a ticket to HP for additional troubleshooting.

I copied all my files of music from the TC at the new internal drive and have disappeared in the iTunes preferences and changed my iTunes Media folder location for:

    / Users/username/music/iTunes/iTunes Music

When I have my Time Capsule mounted all works fine (even if I'm missing some album artwork that was there yesterday before I disassembled the TC). When I disassemble the TC a window saying:

"There was a problem connecting to the server"My name Time Capsule.""

The server may not exist or it is not available at this time. Check the server name or IP address, check your network connection and then try again."

After clicking on OK one iTunes window says:

"The song 'xxx' could not be used because the original file cannot be found. You want to locate? »

When I click on 'Yes', he takes me to a finder window titled "open type" at the top which is under 'Music' on the left side of the window.

When I use Spotlight to search the iTunes Media folder it takes me to a window showing a path:

Users > my name > music > iTunes > iTunes Music > music > iTunes Media

The title of the record is "automatically add to iTunes". Get Info says that it is 152 KB 1 point, but when I open it it seems empty.

Yesterday it was working fine. First I dragged everything music in iTunes, but it didn't work. When I opened the folder music and copy all the files (group names) using command + A to select all the and then slipped and fell in all copied iTunes on iTunes. Most of the work was there and I added the missing if necessary illustrations.

Today, I'm having the problem described above with a huge loss or the cover of the album art. It seems that all the files on my TC are also on my internal HD Somethings doesn't. What Miss me? I understand my folder paths (?) are probably a bit redundant in some way or other, but I don't that would be the problem.

Another thing I noticed. When I get the info on a track, it says the file path is:

    / Users/username/music/iTunes/iTunes Music track name / artist / Album / 01 1.m4a

Yesterday, I searched for duplicates and trashed the duplicates with 1.m4a while keeping the same files without the 1 and just track .m4a name

Changing preferences tells iTunes where start storing any future media that you add.  It does not get iTunes to inventory a location for old media.

Looks like you were using an optimal inferiority configuration when your library has been shared between two discs. You have media in one place and all support files in another.  If you do it this way, you will have to use iTunes to move files by consolidating them to the new location.

12 iTunes for Mac: change where your files stored iTunes - http://support.apple.com/kb/PH19507 - unfortunately it is misnamed.  It should say "where your media files but not change where your library files are stored"-more information: https://discussions.apple.com/message/22026652#22026652 - and steps 5 to 8 in https://discussions.apple.com/message/24491967#24491967

12/2015 https://discussions.apple.com/message/29475217#29475217 - "after you change the location of the iTunes Media folder to a different location, you must use the"consolidate library"command so that iTunes copy media files to the new location.  iTunes has to do, so that iTunes can keep track of where all the media files are stored.  It is a menu bar control->-> library-> organize the file library, and then consolidate the files (checkbox). "

In your current situation, you can try to find a lead when iTunes asks you to locate him by going to the right file on your internal drive. If you're lucky iTunes will take time to try to reconnect to the others based on the location of this one track on the new disc.
