Could corrupt InDesign CS6 files be planting my iMac?

I have by mistake upgraded to El Capitan, while using CS6, and it caused problems since. My iMac would be cut and then turn again, turn off, suite... repeatedly. Apple and I did a lot of troubleshooting before I checked the compatibility and realized CS6 and El Capitan are incompatible. Duh!

I erased from my hard drive and reinstalled my old OS, 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) and then used my saved .dmg since when I bought CS6 years ago and resettled. The computer always crushed.

I then downloaded new files from Adobe and ran to InDesign and Photoshop, sometimes all day yesterday and it was fine. Today, I was once again, the two, but in USING Photoshop running when it crashed again. When it crashes, the screen goes gray white and it takes several tries in Recovery Mode or Cmd Option PR to get it back in service again.

If I am to the old OS and files installed in new ONES from Adobe, I don't understand why it always crashes. I was wondering if anyone else has had similar problems?

Apple ran the diagnostics on the computer last week and they said that the material was normal, so there must be software I'm running.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Everything Apple say looks like a hardware failure. If they say that it is the application software you their ignorance is alarming. A key point of Mac OS is that an application cannot crash the system. So, if an application does not seem to cause this, the system or equipment is defective. Note that the selected as system boards and video as the hardware device drivers. I have a Mac where the video card is faulty and blocking the Mac when you run too.

Applications can cause all of the closed system, freeze, restart or BSOD/Kernel Panic.

These behaviors can only be caused by bugs in the operating system, bug in low level drivers, or faulty hardware.

By far the most common cause, that we have seen is faulty RAM.

The gray screen say anything? If so, it's a kernel panic, and Apple technicians can get more information from the system. (don't let them blame Photoshop, because they should know better.)

Diagnostics of natural material of Apple (the genius bar or in the backroom of the store) would not catch errors like that - they would fail only for the same types of errors that could prevent the machine from running at all.

For example, test RAM problems with accuracy to swap the memory, or send the machine to a regional repair center that has the best material (and more experienced).

  • Illustrated with icons CS5.5 InDesign CS6 files

I recently installed CS6, I found myself with a lot of icon and extension problems, so I uninstalled CS6, ran Adobe Script cleaner and reinstalled. Everything is now in order except for one thing. The .indd files shows the CS5.5 instead of the CS6 icon. The standard program is set to InDesign CS6 (D:\Program Files (x 86) \Adobe\Adobe InDesign CS6\InDesign.exe). I also checked the registry and everything is in order.

Open the file results in CS6 commissioning. So I don't know what is happening... But it's pretty boring, I just want everything to be in order. I even tried to download third party software like "FileTypesMan", does not. Does anyone know a clever work-around?

Notice the screenshot below, the program is set to CS6, the icon in the lower right corner is set to 5.5

  • Cs6 InDesign does not open InDesign cs6 file? says he's got cs7... but it is not

I'm working on a HUGE project for a few years (fault of customer, months between changes on their part) and I just got a huge amount of changes I want to start working. When I go to open the Indesign file, it won't open! I get the error 'cannot open 'file name.indd' because she has been saved with a newer version of Adobe InDesign (CS7.0). You must use this version or later to open the file. To then allow him to open up in this version, click Save as InDesign CS4 or later version, or exporting to IDML. »

The thing is, I don't have CS7 or CC, I never have. Only worked on this file on a computer. When I click on the file in the Finder, it mentions it as CS6, just like older versions of the file (previous incarnations of the project, changes, etc.).

What the heck! I'm on a Macbook Pro running Mavricks suite CS6 full, and everything was peachy until now. Absolutely not saving the file in CC or CS7 and is itself classified CS6 (in the finder info as I mentioned before)...

Anyone has any ideas on this? I'd like to get operational and get this project going again.

    Help, please!

Someone had CC (maybe a trial) and saved files... Still, it is said in the finder doesn't mean anything - the operating system knows only the latest version currently installed.

  • InDesign CS6 and OpenGL 1.5 / image images grey out in INDML

    Hello world

I work for a non-profit and I just upgraded to InDesign CS6 on my machine (signifcantly more robust). Now, their machine (significantly wimpier) must be upgraded as we too send INDD files back and forth on a monthly basis and the two sides only changes in the file. The INDML file I export out CS6 is grizzled on many related photos (but not all) when they read the file INDML with CS4.

    Two things:

    (1) upgrade the slower machine CS6 is the place, but the problem is that this computer has a graphics card that is only OPENGL 1.5 capable (GMA X 3100). The CS6 care state that you need a card that supports OPENGL 2.0. We can afford to replace the computer, therefore: I dream of turning photoshop CS6 on this old machine, but could operate InDesign cs6 on OPENGL 1.5?

    (2) if not, why are only some of the grizzled pictures outside in the INDML file? Can I repair this CS6 > CS4 question without upgrading to CS6?

    Help! Thank you!

The requirements for ID standalone does not mention OpenGL at all. You can download a trial version and see how it works.

. IDML does not include previews of link (it is one of the main reasons for the file is so small). Images that are emerging at the other end must be available for this ID can regenerate previews.

  • InDesign Cs6 running really slow!

I edit, create and produce manuals for a company that gave me training on Indesign! I use Indesing Cs6 Manual of already produced edition and slowly started to create my own. The company has an external company, who had started working on a new project until I'm relevant. They use Indesign CC, the guy also creates books in book form. He sends me the files and a file IDML which allows me to convert what he sent in the version of Indesign (CS6) that I use. Everything is perfect!

As I begin to edit these newly produced manuals I have problems with the program... It turns very slowly especially when typing or importing images.

I move the files from the server to the external company has access too.

Put it on the server I work for.

Open my Office Cs6 and create a book

I then save the book in the same folder on the server, I moved the files too

I open all IDML files individually and then save it in the same folder as an Indesign Cs6 file.

I then open the book and add the necessary files in the book.

    Can I save.

They are the steps I take before I start editing the files, with open book, I tend to change the sections individually, unless I'm updating of the cross - references.

I'm not sure if there is something I am doing wrong or if there is a certain set/format should I change. I'm not very computer Tech companys guy seems to think that this is an error with the program rather than my computer as he checked and inserted also more memory.

    HELP PLEASE!

Do a save pennies on each of the files to erase old data from change. If there is between documents cross-reference ID open constantly files and close them while you work unless you keep all the files in the book open again.

  • I tried several times using IE, Chrome and Firefox browsers (win) to download the files for Indesign CS6 - all of these attempts have failed to extract the files. Other parts of the plant extract successfully, so I don't think I have

I tried several times using IE, Chrome and Firefox browsers (win) to download the files for Indesign CS6 - all of these attempts have failed to extract the files. Other parts of the plant extract successfully, so I don't think that's my machine or OS (Win 7 Pro). I have been fighting for three days and am losing patience fast. Advice or assistance will be appreciated.

I finally got it to work using a different machine and copy the files on a USB stick for transfer to the machine I need installed on!

  • Why can't I open INDD files using exactly the same InDesign CS6 product I've used to create them?

I tried to modify the work sent by another designer. He sent me the INDD files (as part of the packages) but I could not open in my version of Windows of InDesign CS6. My computer told me that I had not any software installed that could open the file. While searching on the forums, I thought it could use InDesign CC, that for some reason any crazy I can't open INDD files created using the CC version and so I have to send him the IDML files. OK, fine, he sent me the IDML files.

IDML files open correctly in my version of InDesign CS6. Large. They open in the form of documents not saved, so I save them as files InDesign CS6. OK, well. Except that I can't open files INDD, that I just created. Yet once, my computer tells me that I don't have any software installed that can open the file. But how can this be? I just create the files using this software!

If I do a test. I can't open a file that I create from scratch? N ° it seems that I can't open INDD files in my version of Windows of InDesign CS6, even if I create them from scratch. Can anyone help?

I found an answer here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/2604646

    1. I opened Windows Explorer and went to tools >... Folder Options > File Types.
    2. I selected INDD and click Advanced.
    3. I chose the action open and press edit.
    4. I went to Adobe InDesign (for some reason any, that adobe does not appear in Program Files by default, but if I go to Program Files and then type Adobe in the zone file name and touch open then I can browse the Adobe programs).
    5. I chose InDesign and press open.
    6. Then back in the editing window of action, I added '%1' in the application used to perform action text box, so that all read: "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe InDesign CS6\InDesign.exe" '%1 '.
    7. I entered indesign in the Application text box and then click OK.
    8. InDesign CS6 will now open INDD files. Finally!
  • InDesign CS6 how to set image-link directly to the original file in the folder

    Hello!

I am running Mac OSX 10.8.5 using Indesign CS6.

In the previous Indd, 5.5 I have set the image directly, binding not only the record, but also to the image itself, so that the original image was 'caught' and automatically highlighted.

This is very useful for me. I can't find this setting in CS6. Does anyone have an idea to solve this problem?

    Best

    / Magnus

I'm not sure that it works for everyone, and certainly will not work if the file is not in the folder (and if ID takes you to the folder where the image has lived, or the last folder where you relinked, is something preferably, make things even worse).

  • I want out of my computer, CC and go back to Indesign CS6 and convert my IDML files

I never liked CC on my computer.  It's very weird things, to freezes sometimes and I converted CS6 and updated to the latest version, which is of course far behind what CC is to (v 10 something now?).  However, when I open my newly saved as file IDML Indesign CC file, he loses the file name, I gave and it reopens as 'Untitled'- and it drives me crazy.  What is going on???

Normal behavior. IDML files always open as untitled.

  • Location of the InDesign CS6 preferences file

I'm unable to find file preferences InDesign CS6 on my Mac. I don't have a library folder under my user name, but there is one for the comments and macadmin. Is it hidden? How to display this folder?

    Macintosh: Disk hard/users / < USER > / Library/Preferences/Adobe InDesign / < Version # > / < language > /.

It is hidden. User library files see hidden access | Mac OS 10.7 and later and replace your preferences

  • How can you Place of LibreOffice rtf files in InDesign CS6

I'm new to InDesign CS6. I'm having a problem placing LibreOffice rtf files in InDesign.

I use LibreOffice 4.3.2.2, Lotus WordPro and Windows 7. I save my work in rtf files. Each page has two columns.

Placement of WordPro in InDesign rtf files works without any problem, but - I wonder just how long WordPro will continue to operate with Windows 7 so I would switch to LibreOffice.

When I Place a rtf file that has two columns of LibreOffice in InDesign, I get a loaded text cursor, but nothing loads. I can take this same file, delete columns, so there is only a single column, and it loads just as it should. In addition, if I insert the file of a column in a Master set up for two columns, the file is loaded in two columns with all the appropriate formatting.

Please guide me in how to place files rich text in column two LibreOffice in InDesign.

    Thank you.

    Carole

Thanks to all of you who have read my problem. I solved it myself by using the 'import RTF Options.'
