Yes, localmode is using a modified version of VMware Player/desktop to virtual computer runs locally and is in conflict with a version installed locally.

    Hello

I could not install on my PC Windows 7.01 vCenter. I was getting a "28035.Setup error". I was told that you can run vcs on a virtual machine, so I decided to create a machine virtual W2K3 just for my VCS. I have 1 VM ESX 4.0 and 1 VCS 4.0 VM on my PC. I'm using VMWare Workstation 7 to join my VM and vSphere Client on the desktop. How can I run VCS? Normally, it will show on vShere customer. Do I need to reinstall from the CD of vCenter? Any ideas? Thank you.

When I try to add my vcs on the domain controller server

I don't understand exactly what you are trying to add?

Basically, what you need to run a test environment is:

-a domain with DNS controller and - if you want - DHCP

-Member Server windows on which you are installing vCenter Server

-one or more host ESX (i)

On your client, you must install the vSphere Client and connect to the server vCenter Server by using your credentials of the AD. Using the vSphere Client, you can add hosts ESX(I) and your installation configuration.

  • Unable to set the "exclusive mode" in vmware workstation 8

I installed VMware Workstation 8, but when I click on "View-> exclusive mode" full screen, nothing happened. Someone else has experienced this problem or there are some workarounds to solve?

Well, I think that I am able to reproduce your problem.  Thanks for reporting this.  To work around the problem, you can go in Edition > Preferences > display and uncheck the box ' Edge see the toolbar when this marking in fullscreen.  This is to prevent the toolbar full screen to reappear in exclusive mode when you move the mouse to the top of the screen.  I think that the toolbar will also become well hidden if you pin the toolbar before entering full-screen mode.

  • Connect two VMs via the connection to the local network using VMWare Player

So this topic can be posted already, but I'm at the end of the roll, trying to find a solution. I have VMWare player installed 3.1.4 on an enterprise_x64 of Windows 7 system. I configured two virtual machines: OS1 comments: Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 5.5_x64 and OS2 comments: WIndows 7 Ultimate_x64. I need the Linux server to act as a database server in the system environment, that I am creating. The Windows 7 VM will be the client PC. The Linux server is configured to be it's own DHCP server, so ideally the client PC connects to the field of tht and also follow the Linux server IP address.

I tried all the options of networkign for each virtual computer, but no sem to create this type of connectivity. How to configure the network settings in VMWare Player to make two virtual computers can communicate with each other via a virtual network? (Communication with the host pc is not necessary)

The short answer is to manually install the lack vmnetcfg.exe, Editor of virtual networkand configure VMnet2 without DHCP and host vNIC and then configure manually each virtual machine network adapter to use Custom VMnet2.

The longer answer has already been given so many times that you should be able to find detailed directions, however...

To install the lack vmnetcfg.exe, virtual network editor, run VMware-player-* .exe-e c:\vmptmp go to a command line and then in the c:\vmptmp folder, locate the file c:\vmptmp\network.cab and extract (double-click on the .cab file) vmnetcfg.exe (virtual network editor) file in the working directory of VMware Player usually ' C:\Program Files\VMware/VMware Player ' you can create a shortcut to it and place it with the shortcut of VMware Player if you want to access more easily to her.  This utility is not installed by default is however necessary to turn off the automatic bypass on VMnet0 if the system is multihomed and two or more physical host from the NETWORK adapter is active or you want change VMnet1 and VMnet8 subnet addresses or additional VMnets.

The you must manually change the configuration of each virtual machine's .vmx file in Notepad, change an existing parameter and add another.

    Change:

    ethernet0.connectionType = "nat"

    TO:

    ethernet0.connectionType = "custom"

    Add:

    ethernet0.vnet = "VMnet2"

Note: Regardless of connectionType ethernet (n) shows it should be changed to "custom".

Be sure also to Machine virtual are stop, not suspended and VMware Player is closed when you edit the .vmx config files.

Here are some pictures to show.

Here in the VMnet2 virtual network Editor is selected and is how it should be if you what to use your own DHCP server and the host does not have a vNIC.  You can change the IP address as a result of your needs.

Here's the value VM card network NAT settings.

This is what network settings Virtual Machine map will look like after you change the configuration of the Virtual Machine's .vmx file to use Custom VMnet2.

BTW if you replace the Machine network card virtual settings through the user interface customized by something else then you will need to manually edit the .vmx config file to retrieve.   With VMware Workstation, you do not need to manually install the virtual network editor and should not manually edit the .vmx config file as the custom list box is still present and shows all VMnets to select from.

  • Failed to create virtual machine using VMWare Workstation 11 (test)

    Hello people,

I installed VMWare Workstation on my machine Windows 10 and trying to create multiple virtual machines to test the object. I have done this before on the Windows 7 computer and did not face any problems, but this time, as soon as I gave the location of the file to deploy an operating system it comes up with some fatal errors as error BLK_CACHE IOERR if I have enough space on the HARD drive and everything is not going further. So, my question is if my computer has compatible with Windows 10 problems or there is something else that would cause this problem. Any help or comments would be appreciated on this topic.

    Thank you!.

    Thanks for your answer, Noel

  • installation of leopard to Mac using Vmware workstation/server

    Hello

As Vmware Workstation/server doesn't have a Mac (in the list when you create a new operating system). This is why I would like to know that all versions of Mac leopard and Tiger can be installed via VMware Worksataion/server on Windows XP host computer.

Also, I would like to know how I can install Mac 10.5.5 Leopard in my virtual system on top of a Windows Xp operating system?

    Thank you

    The answer is 'nothing. '

It is a violation of licensing/EULA Apple to run OSX on non-Apple hardware.  Virtualization only allowed Mac OS x is currently Leopard Server as a virtual guest on the OSX OS - then only under VMware Fusion on a Mac.

  • Fusion records instant non-OS on a different computer using VMWare Workstation 11 virtual

I recently had a guest OS VM frequently crash that had some shots that are associated with.  I had an OS VMDK disk as a secondary data VMDK disk.  I couldn't go back to the snapshot because it would mean that I would lose all my data on my disk of secondary data.

I look forward moved and deleted from the OS disk drives data to another guest VM VMDK and attempted to use it only to see all the files on the secondary data disk.

However, when I tried to mount the drive of secondary data in a guest VM, I couldn't so to find all the files in the snapshot.

Is it possible for me to merge the data between the 2 shots in the drive to have a single consolidated file?

I tried to try to run a command in r - vmware - vdiskmanager.exe, but I think that the parent disk has been converted to a newer version, so he put the 2 discs out of sync and I got this error message:

VMware - vdiskmanager.exe: VixDiskLib: invalid configuration file setting. Failed to read the configuration file.

Cannot convert the disc: the virtual disk parent has changed since the child was created. Content of the virtual disk that ID does not match the ID of parent to the child to the parents content

    (0x3e88).

Please advise as to how to get these consolidated data between my photos on my secondary data disk.

Can please provide an example of how to do this using the dsfi.exe command because I'm not familiar with this command and the documentation on the site doesn't seem to much enlighten on how to accomplish what you have described in your answer.

Thanks again.  Your help is greatly appreciated.

Assuming that you have checked the first 1536 bytes using dsfo.exe, backup and then edit this file and then use dsfi.exe to inject the file changed in the hard file again by using the following syntax:

    DFC

    for example: DFC.exe vmname.vmdk 1536 0 modified_file.bin

Prior to the injection of the modified file, check that it sill has the same size and allows to check that only the parentCID has been changed e.g. fc/b extracted_file.bin modified_file.bin .

  • 40 users with vmware workstation virtualization

    short version

    1. is there a tiny linux distro or another way to run workstation or player without having to start a host bulky all OS?  I would like to than most of the resources that will be displayed at the operating system PROMPT in my computer or player, but I can give him only what the host operating system is not relaxing, right?

2 is it possible using startup scripts or similar for the workstation (or reader) run as soon as the host OS, boots and open a certain virtual machine mode full-screen, to make the user experience more like using a non virtualized desktop computer?

    / short version

    long version

We need to standardize workstations XP users and decided to do it using virtualization.  We're not really big enough (40 users) to benefit from the view, or be able to afford.

We would like to use VMWare workstation to create a virtual master we could do get out for users instead of having to do a format/reload every time they break a system.

However, I want the user experience to be as transparent as possible for end users (of which most is not technical at ALL) the idea of "boot from an XP host, open desktop (or reader), then open their 'real' workstation vm is too much for them, really.

Also, I personall dislikes the idea to run a full blown (XP OS) to host VMWare Player, to host an OTHER OS full blown.  I want to give on the guest virtual computer system resources as well.

    / long version

    1. Yes - it's possible. See it in action http://sanbarrow.com/moa24/videos/kiosk/kiosk.html

2 Yes - XP for example you can set up the shell. Change explorer.exe to a command that starts with a VM specified in modepleinecran vmplayer

  • VMware workstation and ReadyNAS to store the virtual machine

    Hello

I just bought a Netgear Readynas box for home (Readnas RND2000 XRAID SIN) and it seems like a big box to keep a backup of my critical data and flow data and video music.

Now that will take about 100 GB in space and I'll always have weird to play with 400 GB and it made me think if I host all my test VM I created using VMware workstation, for the moment I use a local computer, but its lack of disk space, I tried to put the virtual computer on an external drive and performance is ok on it as well but for me , it would be ideal if I could store them on the readynas and open them through VM workstation.

Of course put it on a NAS box could be problematic, has anyone tried this on one of these boxes ReadyNAS? its probably not designed for this type of data and traffic, but if anyone has got, it works, I would be interested to hear comments.

One of the potential problems in my view is I'll be going through a wireless router with a 4 port 100 mb go and see that as a problem, it replaces a gigabit switch would make a huge difference, or would it still slow?

I would appreciate any advice on this.

    Thank you

I'll guess that your external hard drives are USB.  In this case my answer is Firewire.  I run several of my virtual machines to external Firewire drives very good success.  While I ran a few virtual machines from USB, USB just isn't the sustained performance of Firewire.  This is the case on my Macbook Pro and my HP Pavilion (with built-in Firewire.)

That said, even if I don't have any experience with the ReadyNAS, I use a Windows Server as NFS storage to an ESX Server.  The gigabit switch is almost a necessity.  Possible about 100 MB, but significantly better on gigabit.  In addition, the link of the ESX to Windows NFS is on a physically separate local network segment, so I don't have any problems with the network traffic slows down the virtual machine.  I have not tried Workstation with storage NFS, as I always got Firewire on all my machines so I kept for most of the virtual machine from the network.  YMMV, of course, but I suspect that you will have to keep the rest of the traffic network in mind if you can not create a separate network for NFS storage.  (for example: no internet surfing on the host while the virtual machine is running.)

  • VMWare Workstation 12 and 18 of Linux Mint (Ubuntu 16.04) and vmware tools or open-vmware-tools

I created a new virtual machine using VMWare Workstation 12.1.1 build-3770994 with a guest OS from Linux Mint 18 (which is built on top of Ubuntu 16.04). I have two monitors on my system, the two 2560 x 1440. I am unable to get this virtual machine Linux Mint 18 to cover all of my two monitors when I disable "Accelerate 3D graphics" in my vm settings, I get an error. I have another Linux Mint 17 VM running on the same VMWare Workstation 12 on the same host machine from Windows 10 and it is able to expand on my two monitors very well with "Accelerate 3D graphics" disabled, but he does not open-vmware-tools.

I have read instructions telling me to install open-vm-Tools-Office in this guest operating system of Linux Mint 18. I did it. Then I restart the guest operating system. When starting, I can click on 'Enter full screen mode' in my menu of VMWare Workstation, and the guest OS has a monitor as expected. When I then click on "Cycle multiple monitors", I get the following error. "The virtual machine could not be changed to the selected screen layout. If you add a monitor to the host computer, you must turn off and turn on the virtual machine to use this monitor. »

    vmware-monitors-error.jpg

I can optimize my VM to automatic adjustment, only one of my two screens, but not both. I tried to uninstall and reinstall open-vm-tools, open-vm-tools-desktop and restart. I tried to use /vmware-tools-distrib/vmware-install.pl's original vmware tools and who does not work either.

In my vmware.log, I get these two lines that occur when I get the above error.

    2016 07-12 T 15: 43:19.068 - 06:00 | MKS | I125: ToolsSetDisplayTopology: send rpcMsg = 1 DisplayTopology_Set, 0 0 2560 1440

    2016 07-12 T 15: 43:24.853 - 06:00 | vCPU-1 | I125: TOOLS of the call to DisplayTopology_Set failed.

When I activate "Accelerate 3D graphics" with the configuration described above, I am able to use both of my monitors. Why is this the case?

I think remember having to disable "Accelerate 3D graphics" in my Linux Mint 17 comments vm because it would crash randomly. I try to run this VM Linux Mint 18 with 3D acceleration and see if it crashes, but why is there a difference with spanning multiple monitors?

    Thank you.

I didn't experience this problem for a few weeks. I don't have a definitive answer to my original problem.

I installed Mate instead of cinnamon 3 to my MINT 18. Then, I created a new VM with Ubuntu Gnome 3 16.04 running as the OF. I did have problems with both approaches. I also tried using Firefox as my main browser instead of Chrome, as I read that Chrome can have problems of memory. It could be a combination of several of these changes that have allowed me to work without problems.

Knowing what I know now, I think the move away from cinnamon 3 is what seems to have fixed my problems. I can certainly say that you use Firefox consumes less memory, as I can monitor the monitor system under Ubuntu. Chrome would eventually eat all my system memory, that I could see. The extent of the why? I'm not sure at this point.

Hi akpraveenand welcome to the VMware communities!

Your laptop has Avast! Antivirus installed?  We have seen some recent reports of Avast! origin of the failure you see there.  If you have Avast! installed, you will need to uninstall temporarily to be able to install VMware Workstation (disabling Avast! is not enough).

If you use another system antivirus or antimalware software, it may be interesting to try to disable it during the installation of VMware Workstation.

Let us know if that solved the problem for you!

  • How to run VMWARE Workstation 7.1.2 securely on Windows 7?

    Hello

I downloaded a trial version of vmware workstation 7.1.2 to check, if I could use it to keep a proven windows 2000 on a windows host environment 7.

When I run a virtual machine, the system tells me, that the "VmWare authorization Service" does not work. When I try to start from the list of services of the Task Manager, I get the error code_6000004.

On a forum German vmware, I found the advice to disable windows security feature 7 UAC completely. But that has not yet solved the problem I've tried with a non-administrative user account.

Finally it works, but only in a dangerous way:

So far, I only managed to run VMWARE 7.1.2 on Windows 7, if I disable UAC AND log in as administrator. Which would be Ok for experiment from time to time, but do not regularly the computer as is - for good reason - not recommended by windows.

Can someone please give me some adivce on my questions:

How can I use VMWare Workstation on a host of Windows 7 with an non-administratif account?

Better would be, how can I use VMWare Workstation as a standard user AND you have UAC on a recommended security level?

Is disabling the functions of central security in fact the adivce official to run VmWare on a host of Windows 7?

I know, Windows 7 is quite new and a lot of software has not properly adapted to him so far, but in the meantime, it is still not easy to find an older host OS to be able to correctly use VMWare (on Windows 2000 as a host, it worked great and I do not want to give it up so easy)

    Kind regards

I just removed the XML that has been added automatically

I used Vmware Workstation 7.x for Windows 7 without problems so far. I installed the package as an administrator, of course, but then used the user to create and manage virtual machines. I have UAC in default mode and does not get a prompt either do anything.

The option "Run as Administrator" is just to load an application with administrator credentials already loading in the token to access at the outset and you will get a prompt later, but there should be no difference here.
