• Cannot print just black and white - cannot print all black when a low cartridge

  I had this 6700 Officejet just long enough the warranty has expired. Go figure. I have 2 problems.

  1. from my PC, it will print not just black and white, even if I chose "printing black and white only. I have to go through the whole syetem of dialogue ect ect, which is delayed. It prints perfectly just black and white of my portable Macbok.

  2. it won't let me print a document all in black and white, because I have a low color cartridge. Whey do I have to have color cartridges to print just a black and white document. Very annoying and frustrating. I'm almost ready to use as target.

  Welcome to the Forums of HP Support! I understand your frustration and want to enlighten us and also bring some answers to your questions about the ink on your HP OfficeJet 6700 systems.

  1. you are able to go to your printer properties and change your settings for printing in black and white only, without having to change it whenever you want to print something. See the steps listed below:

  * Go to your devices and printers

  * Right-click on your 6700 and select Print Options

  * Select your desired default and press Ok

  2. you cannot print without all cartridges installed because even if printing black and white printer will still use the ink contained in the cartridges of color for maintenance tasks. It takes little ink from all cartridges in the service of the print head and avoid any clogging. To get a better understanding of take a look here: use of inkjet printers ink.

• Photosmart Premium: does not copy after replacing black toner XL and colors - but has not replaced the small black

  Printer recognized all the replaced cartridges. It shows a black small as 'used '.  You wonder why it won't copy from the XL Black cartridges.  page is completely blank, unless I select color copy and then only a header is printed.

  I was wondering if I should also replace the small black cartridge.  If so, what is the purpose of the XL Black cartridge?

  Welcome to the Forums of HP Support! I understand that you have recently changed the cartridges on your HP Photosmart Premium, you have not replaced a smaller, and now, you are not able to copy.  One of the black cartridges is regular black and the other is a photo in the black, which is the difference between the two. Although you can't print photos, it gets ink in the cartridges.

  Please replace the used cartridge and you should be up and running again. I hope this helps!

• Weird problem of Windows 7 Ultimate with thumbnails and jpg files

  I just installed Windows 7 Ultimate on my laptop and I have a strange problem with jpg files.  I have an archive of hundreds of JPGs, all in different directories.  When I consult these directories in the Windows Explorer window, I can see the jpg files listed in the view ' display large icons "but I do not see a thumbnail; just the Irfanview logo.  No matter if I choose large, medium or small, all I get is the Irfanview logo, no sticker.  But here's the weird part; in some directories I * can * see the thumbnails, not just the logo of Irfanview.  Directories have just jpg files.  This could be the cause?  Thank you.

  If I am undersatnding your problem correctly you should go to the Control Panel and then open Folder Options. There, you should go to the view and under files and folders you will see "always show icons, never thumbnails" remove the check mark in this box, and then click apply at the bottom right. You can also check to see that he has a check mark in the box 'display of file on the pictures' while you're there.

  This should do what you are looking for. Now, you can choose an image as a .jpg or .bmp file, etc. to use as the basis of the record. You can also change the icon that is used to display the folder when you right click on properties and click on the 'Customize'.

• Failing to read about ADE software able to read when they have framed color graphics and text files EPDF, how do fix us?

  We have 2 different InDesign files read does not correctly in the drive of the ADE. The two files have framed color images and texts in them. The original file EPDF one showed blank pages for the entire page with text boxes inside when open in ADE (they are wrapped in DRM). Pages that do not have the sidebar appeared fine. Our ebook distributor said us we need to rasterize the file. We are working in InDesign with Adobe Acrobat X Pro 6. We made each page JPEG files and re-imported in an InDesign file and exported in PDF format and our player ADE then showed pages from the sidebar. The file is quite large but and I have a book that has the same problem. What is the problem with our boxes and what are the best solutions as JPEG files for each page? Thank you.

• Color crazy CR2/JPG files

  Just improved LR3 to the LRCC. Both types of files uploaded a jpg and CR2 files are something that I've never seen before.

  No idea what could be the problem? Restarting the computer/program and always the same poster. Windows 8 running all updated display drivers.

  LR3 and PS6 open my files fine/run perfectly. Have not yet test these files in PSCC because it crashing everytime I open a file .

  

  Try to uncheck use Graphics Processor under Edit > Preferences > Performance.

• Acrobat documents print all black

  Our 'workhorse' LJ 5if has been with us for YEARS - and has almost always been able to do everything...

  This 5if has a JetDirect Ethernet connection on our local area network and all prints him regularly... it gets a lot of use...

  But now we suddenly have a recurring 'new issue' with ONLY ONE OF OUR EIGHT COMPUTERS (!).

  Suddenly, it seems that each document Acrobat "PFD" he tries to print generates a page that is totally black point of being unreadable... coverage of 100% (except the margin areas)...  As this user has described: «as dark as the black cat in a coal mine in midnight...» ».

  Mysteriously, this also happens when it prints to our other printer "workhorse", a HP LJ 8500 color laser... so it is obviously something to do with THIS PC and PCL drivers for these two lasers, as NONE of the seven other PC has this problem...  They all can print without problems both of these printers.

  They can print the same documents that this PC cannot...

  And yet, a cantankerous old HP LJ 4 prints like a gem... every time... from the same PC.  (PCL 5 vs PCL4...?)

  We have tried to 'update' the HP PCL drivers (after all first try the drivers Microsoft 'default', then we downloaded new drivers of HP), we tried the Acrobat upgrade, we tried EVERYTHING UN-installing this (as well as Acrobat printer drivers), we tried to uninstall and remove all records for both partners - we even tried to create a new user account...  Looks like nothing works...

  I am about to "blow out" Windows and reinstall EVERYTHING (and it is a DEMORALIZING, probably... task as an architectural firm, there is a lot of software to re - load), so before I resort to this 'last resort scenario', I thought I would post a "HELP!" here and see if anyone has a clue as to what the Devil's going on here...

  I REALLY the don "t hope to spend the next 10 hours re-building Windows XP Pro and the configuration of the software on this workstation...

  Even if this PC is less than one year (Core2-Duo @ 2.66 GHz, 4 GB of RAM DDR2, HDD 250GB RAID - 1, etc), I'd rather buy a NEW PC quite that spend my time to rebuild this Windows operating system and all the software...  Yee-gods!

  Help...?

  So from my understanding, printing only from the Acrobat of a PC for 2 different HP LaserJet causes pages out of the black.

  Print test ok pages?

  pages printing ok other applications?

  It's probably a matter of adobe, probably some sort of conflict with an update or something, have you tried slowly roll back updates of windows on a date where the printer was working?

  The only other off-site thing I can think of is a really funky network problem or bad cable but that should theoretically make all requests.

  Good luck, but I think you look a complete uninstall/reinstall if the removal of the driver/app has not resolved.

• Windows 8: WINDOWS and Desktop files lose all of a sudden

  Two months ago, my Windows 8 system hung. When I restarted, my appearance of windows has been changed! None of the shortcuts and Desktop files were there on my desk. I opened the desktop workstation directory. Find the files here and them saved! However, my office and Windows does not appear as before. ALSO, once my lap top was closed, the directory Desktop my computer didn't have the files, more.  No programs have been lost.

  I worked with this Windows until today. Today my Skype rang. When I tried to answer, my lap top hung. I restarted. This time, the old windows two months ago started and my project files on mu Desktop have increased with any folder, because I was working on them. I save files every minute. They are not hidden. I searched for them. No results! No recent updates to my laptop. I open Power point and check recent documents. They were all two months. There is!

  I have one of my last day files urgently needed! How and where can I find it? I tried safe mode, too. Useless!

  To determine which files can be repaired by the System File Checker tool, follow these steps:
  Step 1:
   
  NOTE: When SFC is running, it records its actions in the C:\WINDOWS\LOGS\CBS\CBS. NEWSPAPER. You can find specific entries of SFC searching [SR] tags in the newspaper.
  
  For how, see the SFC analysis details in the CBS. JOURNAL:
   
  * Open an elevated command prompt.
  
  * In the elevated command prompt, type findstr/c: "[SR]" %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log > %userprofile%\Desktop\sfcdetails.txt and press ENTER.
   
  * Close the elevated command prompt.
  
  * Click the sfcdetails.txt file just set your desktop to see the SFC scan details (those with the tags [SR]) to the CBS. NEWSPAPER.
   
  * You can safely delete the sfcdetails.txt file later if you wish.
  Reply back with the details in the log file.
  
  If it does not help to complete the scan, you can complete the steps below and check out them.

• Why don't the colors in my JPG file look right when printed?

  When I downloaded a few psd files to an online print Center, the color changes radically.  I've flattened the image and checking Basic (standard) when recording in jpeg.  I tried two different printing centers.  What is happening, and how can I fix?

  Yes. They expect sRGB.

  So copy your master file. Flatten it. Go edit > convert to profile and choose sRGB. And just to be safe, I would not send low file. Go Image > Mode and choose 8-bit per channel.

• CP1215 won't print in black

  My HP Laserjet CP1215 print not black (even in black and white mode).  The cartridge is fairly recent and has left more than 1,000 pages.  I'm unable to print documents.  The leaves come out blank or they will show as the colorful items.  It's something new.  FYI - my color cartridges are low, but still have pages left.

• HP Laser Jet Pro CM1415 can only you by default for all print in black to save color ink?

  My impression is text I want to print using black ink only.  I tried using shades of gray, but ran out of all my color cartridges and still have 70% of black left!  Is there a way to get the printer to use only black ink, unless I said to use the color (for photos) so that my color ink will last longer?

  If you use the "Print in grayscale" checkbox in the properties of the printer, which will force the printer to use only the black toner.  You can check by looking at the page printed under magnification.

  Of course if your photos are full page that will use much more ink than, say, 5 x 7.  If you are printing photos on glossy paper rather than the typical plain paper, which will tend to use a little more toner.  Keep in mind that yields of the cartridge is based on the coverage is low (such as text), and the photos have a much higher than the text coverage.  I'm curious about how many photos and what size, don't you think that you have printed this year?

• When I import TIF and JPG with the same metadata files, only the TIF files are imported. How can I change this?

  I imported and renamed TIF and JPG files with the same metadata about the date and time of the recording. Only TIF files are imported, the JPG files remain unimproved. So I in 13 Finder e. g. image files in the same folder where Lightroom is only 10 files. Ideas for the resolution of welcome!

  Disable the option Preferences > General > process files Next To Raw files as separate Photos JPEG.  Then again an import.  It appears that, in this case, LR consider a TIFF image to a file "gross".
