Create a backup before reinstalling the server VM

Hello

How to create a backup from a virtual machine on vmware server 2.0.2 on linux debian 6?

I need to re - install the server, because of this I need the virtual machine on an external drive backup. How to do this? THX!

Best regards, jan

Take a look at the following article to find out how copy/move the virtual machine files: KB VMware: move or copy of the virtual disks in a VMware environment

Basically we need to stop the virtual machine, remove all snapshot and copy/move the files of virtual machine (or the whole folder) to the new destination.

But now, we have the following problem: the Enterprise Manager show the old hostname.
I see the wire Re: Oracle reports stop working after joining the server to the domain!
that points to the script "cmd /c chgiphost.bat - mi".

    What's wrong?
And what I need to change the hostname in DB as well? (I searched a few dbf files and found a lot of old hostnames...)

    Thanks in advance

Regarding the error you get to run the chgiphost script, make sure you have your env $ORACLE_HOME. the properly defined variable (pointing to application server not the Pb of House).

  • Creating a backup image of the disk HARD Portege M400

I tried to create a backup image of my HD but can not find software that is compatible with the M400 which will generate the image on a separate USB drive.

Does not see the local disk but can see USB drive - that someone has managed to generate a backup HD picture?

    Thank you

    Hello

What application are you using to create the image?
I use Symantec ghost and I m very happy. I created an image file that has been placed to the second request, and if something goes wrong, I m able to install the OS from the image file.

In addition, this unit supported RAID and the RAID driver must be installed in order to recognize the HARD drive.

I reinstalled the OS X Lion, but I forgot to disable CS6 first. Is that going to be a problem? I'm counting on two installs...

If you get 2 activations that allow you to install the software on machine 2, so if you have exceeded the number of activations then contact Adobe technical support for activation back to zero in the case otherwise it shouldn't be a problem.

  • Reinstall the server vCenter Server on x 64 Windows

    Hello

I reinstall a vCenter Server on the same hardware, because the operating system is Windows 2008 x 86 at the moment and I want to spend to vCenter 4.1.

I don't want to migrate databases, because it is only a very simple configuration with two hosts in a Cluster of CVS.

I frist to remove the existing vCenter hosts or can I just add them to the new installation of vCenter? I ask, because I can't delete the hosts in the Cluster without putting them into maintenance mode.

    Thanks for your help.

    Rodix

You can remove hosts to a vcenter which is part of a cluster.

I had exactly this scenario last week.

Everything I did was right click hosts each, once disconnected you can right click again and select Delete.

This will not affect the virtual machines on the hosts and can be done while online, make sure that there is no current vMotions when you do this.

Reload the VirtualCenter with the new OS and vCenter. Click Add a host and do the normal procedure.

In fact it is really unnecessary to disconnect the old vcenter for import into new, because when you add the host it will tell you it is managed by a different vCenter, but you can import it again. I just did it to make sure (in my head :-))

Tip is to make a copy of the license key from vcenter for you save the trouble to go online and get back again

    Hi tedfms,

You can try the following steps to see if it helps with your problem at all:
It is a solution that has worked for others with the lapse of the well-known writer, 0x800423F3. He has contributed to: WAW8

    Try the following:

    1) start the computer in Mode safe mode without network.

    2) open an administrator command prompt

    3) type "net stop winmgmt" without the quotes and press ENTER to make sure that the WindowsManagementInstrumentation (WMI) service is not working.

    4) go to the windows\system32\WBEM\ and rename the drop folder.

    5) reboot and restart normally

    6) open an administrator command prompt.

    7) type "net stop winmgmt" without the quotes and press ENTER to stop the wmi service.

    8) type winmgmt /resetRepository and restart the system.
    I hope this helps.
  • How to install a new hard drive and create recovery disks before installing the new drive?

    HP Pavilion Dv5 - 2077 cl/entertainment laptop
    Product #: WQ799UA #ABA
    Windows 7 64 bit

    Hello-

So for a while now, I get a blue screen randomly, popping up all the time and some time, who is going to "clear my physical memory" or something and then restart after like 30 seconds. I posted in the forums, once it all started and support told me to run tests and finally told me that my hard drive has been the reason for these constant errors. Then I backed up everything, in anticipation of a real accident.

I'm about to order a new hard drive from Newegg.com, and I would like to know if it is difficult to replace a hard drive in a laptop, or if I should have Geek Squad do it for $50. In addition, I don't think I have the disk for the operating system that came with my computer, how do I order that HP and how much is it?

And, last but not least, is there a message or a video with instructions on how to install a hard drive and operating system?

Here is the hard drive Im currently looking, if could let me also know if this would be my laptop and if it's a good idea that would be great:

    Thank you very much.

    Hello

Yes, that's exactly what you do

  • Uninstalling on old computer before reinstalling the new

I have creative cloud loaded on my laptop at home and my pc at the studio. The video card on my laptop at home has failed. Nothing but a white screen when I turn it on. I bought a new computer, but have I not uninstall Photoshop (et al.) out of my laptop until I can load on my new computer at home? If so, I do not know how to recover the license info and am not sure I want to pay for a new video card installed; Can I use the old laptop as a door (LOL) stop. Help me understand how to proceed to the loading of the Adobe on my new computer, under these circumstances, including Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator, and InDesign. Thank you in advance. Best regards, Kevin (Elberton, GA)

Ideally you would disable (help > deactivate) ps on your old laptop.  but it will be quite difficult when you can see what you're doing.

then, contact adobe support.  they can help by resetting your number of activations, http://www.adobe.com/support/chat/ivrchat.html

  • Reinstalled Vista on my Gateway computer. There are 2 users, how to find the files saved by Windows before reinstalling?

My C drive was blue screens so that I couldn't get into my computer and it became useless. I'm a total computer not so smart person, (politically correct too) :) In any case, after finding how to get in safe mode and fishing around a solution, I got the solution from scratch. It was April, which should give you an idea how well informed, I am when it comes to such things.

So I took the option that would save all user files before reinstaling the operating system which is original bought the 2008 version. Vista 32-bit. Yes I know it's old but it works again. So since then I tried to get it updated and secure. Gateway won't help me at all, of course, out of warranty and all. So I downloaded the service Pack 1 and 2 for vista and all the security updates and Microsoft security essentials and IE9. So now I'm finally back to normal, which I think is a relative term.

So now, I want to find all the files of the user who have been registered by windows before the reinstall took place. My folders and files from my sister. Treatment of text and pictures and stuff.

Once I found how to make their return to where I am and where it is?

    You are welcome.

Unfortunately, you have not yet told how you have saved the files.

If you used the Auromatic backup gateway, they say that the files are in the C:\Backup folder on the hard drive.

You will need to open that folder and either copy and paste or drag and drop them where you want them to be.

It's a question you'd have to ask Gateway:

    http://support.gateway.com/support/ask_gateway.aspx

    .

If you sustained yourself using Vista DVD files or an external hard drive, is how do to the files from the point upwards.
