Estimating size of backup before running the RMAN

DB version: 11.2
OS: Oracle Solaris 10

I need to take a cold ad hoc RMAN backup a DB from 200 GB on a Local disk. With RMAN, is it possible that I can check how much backup size would be before I take the backup to cold?

Read the metalink how to estimate the size of a database [1274720.1 ID] RMAN backup.

    Hello

    The link I gave in my previous post features a display of very good example:

    Primary:

    Pfile/Spfile name: initprim.ora/spfileprim.ora
    db_name=prim
    db_unique_name=prim

    Standby time:

    Pfile/Spfile name: initstnd.ora/spfilestnd.ora
    db_name=prim
    db_unique_name=stnd

    In your case:

    While adding a static entry to the listener of the day before, SID_NAME should be the DB_UNIQUE_NAME of the database pending. Also the pfile/spfile Eve must be associated with the DB_UNIQUE_NAME of the previous day.

    The pending database ORACLE_SID would be the DB_UNIQUE_NAME of the database pending. Hope that's clear!

  • Is there a way to know if the current modules are compatible with the latest upgrade of Firefox before running the update?

    I want to know if my Add-ons and current themes are compatible with the latest update of Firefox before running the update.

    Hello azdec.

    You can check the add page - we in addons.mozilla.org so it's just one or two. In my view, there is an extensions in the Gallery of modules that allows you to see if your modules are compatible with the newer versions of Firefox. But you'll have to look for them, because I don't know how it's called.

    I remind you that if you want an add-on to be compatible with a newer version of Firefox, you must contact its author.

    In addition, the version of Firefox you are using right now has been suspended and is no longer supported. In addition, it has known bugs and security problems. I invite you to upgrade to the latest version of Firefox, for maximum stability, performance, security and ease of use. You can get it for free, as always, to getfirefox.com.

  • Initialization of the LEDs before running the second test.

    I am novice programmer Labview using LV 8.6.  I have an application where I have a lot of lights to indicate success or failure throughout my application in many different cases. After running these tests test that passed are indicated on the front panel with a light green. These failed tests are lit with a red LED. Is there an easy way to initialize all the LEDs return to their shutdown state before running the test a second time without reload the application?

    Here is a small example. First the Boolean values are changed to true, then they return to their fake. Does that help?

  • How to run the rman output files, which are more days of retention

    I use for my rman backup tasks.

    I have format my output files of rman to a specific path, instead of the fast recovery area.

    Also, I spend below command in RMAN

    RMAN > CONFIGURE RETENTION POLICY to RECOVERY OF 7-DAY WINDOW;

    And the "control_file_record_keep_time" parameter is also set to 7.

    I've been running rman for 8 days. Everything seems good. But I find several rman output files are more than 7 days.

    So, I just want to know how to handle the rman output, which is longer than 7 days files?

    In fact, I assumed that these older files should be obsolete files, but rman is not to declare that they are obsolete.

    So how do now?

    So how do now?

    Windows 7 day average recovery rman will protect everything necessary for the recovery to any point in time in the last 7 days.  In fact, in the last 604800 seconds.  The same will mean that he need the files OLDER than that.  Simply because a backupset is older that your recovery window does NOT as yet, it is obsolete.  Any recovery begins with the last FULL or INCREMENTAL backup ZERO before the recovery point.  And it does not matter how old the backup is, it will be obsolete.  Suppose you take a level 0 backup, 1 January and for the rest of the year taking nothing but level 1 and backup archivelog.  31 December than and only the full backup will still not be obsolete, even though he is a year old.

    ============================================================================

    removal of the obsolescence of RMAN

    Day 1 - level 0

    Day 2 - level 1

    Day 3 - level 1

    Day 4 - level 1

    Day 5 - level 1

    Day 6 - level 1

    Day 7 - level 1

    Day 8 - level 0

    Day 9 - level 1

    Day 10 - level 1

    Day 11 - level 1

    Day 12 - level 1

    Day 13 - level 1

    Day 14 - level 1

    On day 14, your window of 7 days is up to date 7.  A recovery to date must begin by restoring the backup of level 0 of the day 1. So it may be outdated.  Some level 1 between 1 and 6 days backups might be obsolete, depending on if they are incremental or cumulative, and it also happens with archivelogs.

    If you have access to MOS, you can review the notes 462978.1 and 463875.1.

  • LVDT offset before running the program

    Hi all

    I use an LVDT to measure the movement of the ground. This must take into account both the consolidation and swelling and therefore requires the LVDT to move in both directions. As a result, the voltage must be reset after the LVDT is pushed so that it can record both negative and positive direction. So far I managed to do it using a business structure that runs when the "zero" button is pressed. However, it comes into force once the program is run. What I need is a button "zero out" which can be used before the program is executed. I want so push in the lvdt, click on the "zero" button, then start running the program to avoid these initial tensions is recorded on the xy graph.

    I found a vi file that does this, but it was very complicated and used old version of labview. I'm relatively new to labview and therefore could not follow the coding on it.

    I've attached the vi file to make it easier to understand. Your help is greatly appreciated

    See you soon,.

    Gurung

    Two screen grabs show how I did the same 'Auto zéro' function when you use an LVDT to measure displacement, I was also saving strength at the same time then graphically representing the post record results.

    On the first race the true / false loop is set to TRUE, in this case the displacement is subtracted from zero to provide compensation, this offset value is then passed to the shift register where it remains as a constant for subsequent itterations of the main loop, while the value is simply passed straight through the true / false loop with nothing done to it on all iterations after the first.

    The offset value is then added to the data read from the LVDT to provide a number of displacement from zero since all that the program was headed all first. There is a 'Save' button on front of who's in a hurry to start and stop recording data - hope this is a help - Mike

  • Using the Scheduler to run the rman script directly stored in the recovery catalog

    Hi everyone, I usually automate my backups rman, using either cron or dbms_scheduler to call my stored in a sh file NIX rman scripts.  Everything works fine but anyone know how / if it is possible to call a stored in the recovery catalog rman script. Let's say I have create a script in the catalog:

    RMAN > create script showall

    Comment "just one example of demonstration."

    {

    VIEW ALL;

    }

    Can I use dbms_scheduler to call this script directly? If Yes, how and if not then how can we plan for this or a stored script stored in the rman catalog catalog.  Been looking all over the place, but everything seems to indicate leaving Oracle to call .sh or .bat file.

    Kind regards

    Dave

    Well, let us know the result.

    The link you supplied refers to 12 c Scheduler improvements it seems, it may not be applicable to lower versions of Oracle.

  • How to force the compilation released executable before running the distribution of LabWindows/CVI kit?

    I am new in 2015 of the CVI. I used CVI 7 and when I chose "Create the Kit of Distribution", when I was still in debug mode, Labwindows asked me to build the executable of setting before creating the Distribution Kit. This does not happen to CVI2015, and the Distribution Kit is created with the latest built executable version, although I made a few changes in my code! This is a problem since I work in debug mode and I usually forget to build the executable of liberation before calling the distribution kit, so I need CVI to do it automatically like CVI 7 did. I suppose that there is an option to do this, but I can't find. Can someone tell me please how to resolve this problem and force CVI to build the exe version before building the distribution kit? Thank you.

    Today, I've solved quite simply create a new distribution. The previous like unsing was automatically imported by CVI7 project. By creating a new distribution, now when I change something, CVI ask me if I want to build the release. So I did not understand the problem but I solved it by editing a new distribution kit.

Now, I want to implement a strategy in the folder which must first check the log on the table of the source data before execution of the respective interface. If the number is 0, then it will not work this interface. The advantage to implement it will be time to load. Is it possible in ODI? Waiting for a quick response.
