Creating partitions in windows 7

OK, this is how my drive looks like. I have 3 primary partitions, including the system reserved drive and the boot disk. I want to create is 2 more discs out of unallocated space of 25 GB to install ubuntu. When I tried to do, I got a warning saying that the drive to convert to custom and dynamic type can load another os from another partition. Even if I don't have another os right now, that I intend to install a. Now, I tried an external partition manager to create a new simple volume, but he asked me convert one of the primary drives a logic. I will lose all data in the process. Why Win 7 makes it so difficult to create additional partitions? Windows xp is so cool man.

You are not well prepared for what you want to do, and as has been pointed out by Palcouk, your Windows 7 partition is much too small. You need to sort that first with a 3rd party partition manager...

Aomei... http://www.aomeitech.com/aomei-partition-Assistant.html

Increase the size of about 150 GB, has space to D drive.

Then add the 28 GB on drive E. You can reorganize partition sizes once you have increased C.

You now have a working PC where Windows 7 isn't going to crash.

Your next priority should be to backup everything that you have stored on D and E, and for this you will need an external hard drive.

Re Ubuntu, if you just want to try it, run it from the CD/DVD drive, but resist the temptation to do a full install. If you really install it, and you have a style desktop machine, buy a second hard drive, install in the case, disconnect the player from Windows and install Ubuntu. Reconnect the Windows disc.

You can use the assignment of F keys on computer startup screen to select one or the other. "This is a configuration to boot" parallel ", not a"dual boot ". Parallel boot is much less of a problem and if ever you decide that Ubuntu is not for you, a manufacturer of hard disk utility will remove the partitions ext14 and the disk is available for Windows.

If you have a laptop, I'd be tempted to do the same as above, by accepting that the swapping of disks inside and outside is not exactly convenient. However, if something goes wrong with Ubuntu, it will NOT affect the installation of Windows.

Note that any major change to disk configurations can lead to data loss...

    Problem reinstalling Windows XP

I'm having a problem reinstalling Windows XP.  After formatting the disk and create partitions, it will not complete the installation.  He goes back and reinstall Windows again.  I go through the installation of 39 minutes, the computer restarts to complete and it loops back and start the installation again. Why it does this and what I can do to move beyond this?

Go into the BIOS and make sure that you your hard drive is not set to off, and that is the first priority boot CD and your second HD.

Don't push when it restarts anything just to let him do what he does and report back if anything I'm sorry I have no idea.

What is disadvantages of creating partition after installing windows Xp or windows 7 or Windows 8?

None in general, you can assign optical readers or card readers a different drive letter for drive letters may be consecutive.

Specifically, if you're talking about reducing the existing operating system partition it is pretty reliable but could save all important files 1.

The choice to create more partitions during setup of the system instead of when Windows is online I would choose the first when possible.

  • Satellite C650D: How can I create partitions?

    Hellooo

    can someone help me?
I have laptop Toshiba Satellite C650D when I bought it, there is only one partition of hard disk, I want another 2 or 3 partitions it how can I do it?

    Hello

You can create partitions in Win 7 disk management.

Firstly, it must reduce the old partition. You will then get a free space on the HARD drive where the new partitions may be created.
The entire procedure is very delicate. Further details on the Microsoft Win 7 page:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/fr-FR/Windows-Vista/create-and-format-a-hard-disk-partition

I hope this helps a little.

But before you change this, I recommend creating a recovery disk!

  • Install the new partition in Windows XP

Hello, is it possible to install an extra partition of Windows XP on my laptop with the recovery dvd satellite? I wish I had 2 win XP partition, and then choose the desired win XP. It will be used to have a stable win XP and a win XP that can be used for insalling and try new software.
    Thank you

    Hello

You can use the recovery CD to create two partitions, but before do you these record all the data because the whole HARD disk will be formatted prior to installation. If you want to do this without reinstalling the operating system persistence, use Partition magic software. It is very powerful tool.

Don t forget to install the boot manager that allows you to choose which operating system you want to use.

  • Computer in safemode, blocked: "multi (0) disk (0) partition (1) \WINDOWS\system32\config\system"

Original title: laptop won't start Windows XP. Shows only a black screen.

I work on a laptop Gateway MX 3416 running Windows XP Media Center Edition.

When I turn on the laptop, I see the gateway logo, then white text that says press F11 for recovery of the system, but it goes to a black screen. Pressing on F8 does nothing and if you press the power button, the laptop shut down immediately.
After you run the Bootcfg command in the Console of a Windows XP disk recovery, I managed to get the ability to run safe mode.
When I try to run safe mode, it gets stuck at the "multi (0) disk (0) partition (1) \WINDOWS\system32\config\system"
I have already run chkdsk from the recovery console and it did not show anything.
I am running out of ideas and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Follow the steps in this article to resolve this problem:

Warning Do not use the procedure that is described in this article if your computer has an OEM operating system. The hive system on OEM installations creates passwords and user accounts that did not exist previously. If you use the procedure that is described in this article, you may not be able to log in the recovery console to restore the original registry hives.
  • How to extend my main partition in Windows 7?

I have windows 7 installed on my drive C. I have allocated 10 gig space required to install the operating system. After the updates there is not much space left in the drive. I can't expand the space in the partition. Is there anyway that I could do with the relocation of the operating system? I try Norton Partition Magic, but it did not work.

If you have more than one partition on the hard disk that Windows is installed, you must first "Shrink" the partition immediately after the Windows partition. Windows 'Disk Management' cannot shrink the beginning of a partition (only the end of a partition), so you need a third party utility first reduce, not the Windows partition and then "Extend" the Windows partition in "Unallocated" space created when you narrowed down to the front of the partition Windows no.

  • How to remove additional partitions on Windows 7?

I tried to install Windows 7 on my pc
While the installation when I reached the point of partitioning
There, I found two partition extra IE 0.0 MB unallocated space and 3.0 MB unallocated
which I am unsable remove so I need help on this question
earlier, it was not used to arrive but its been going on for a few days
I tried another window 7 software also but same problem happening

I want to delete these extra self-generated partion

    It shows installation only
There is no such discs formed after the installation in my computer

    Help, please

Those are not partitions and unallocated space on the hard disk that could not be assigned to your partitions creating partition, possible due to the alignment or the disc read error.

They cannot be deleted because there is nothing to remove.

You see them once the operating system is installed

  • Removal of partition of Windows 7 from Dual Boot Windows 7/8

I recently installed Windows 8 on PC from a parent, because it's the upgrade $ 14.99, uncertain about whether my parents would be as W8, I decided to double it start alongside W7.  However, my parent loved W8 and he now uses as its main operating system.  My problem is, how safely get rid of the partition of Windows 7? Try to remove it cause the laptop to be unable to boot because it seems that the boot files are still on the W7 partition.  Is there a way to make the W8 the 'boot' partition, perhaps by creating / copying the boot somehow files?

Solved, here is how I fixed it in case someone else runs into a similar issue:

1 installed and run EasyBCD on Windows 8

2 open the BCD Backup/repair and C: set as default boot drive

3 used Minitool Partition to delete the partition in which Windows 7 has been installed and extend Win 8 partition on unallocated space

4 restarted, Dual Boot screen appeared, though there is only a single OS installed, so re-opened EasyBCD on Windows 8 and remove the entry from Windows 7 in Dual Boot menu

Note that this is a VERY good idea to keep a Windows 8 installation disc/USB on hand at any time during this procedure, in case something goes wrong.

  • Boot partition of windows 7 64 bit as RAW device in VMware workstation 7.1

My setup is a laptop to dualboot Lenovo W510 with Windows 7 64 bit on a 200Gig partition and Debian GNU/Linux Squeeze on partition of 100Gig. I've got workstation 7.1 installed on Linux and it works very well for virtual machines. The hard drive is a SATA.

I'm trying to start the 64-bit Windows 7 as RAW device partition. After different assignment on this forum as well as on the web, I had gathered that I needed to change the entries from scsi to ide in the .vmx and too hard. Even with these changes, I get a BSOD 7 b error when starting windows VM. Previously, I had been able to do it on a Lenovo T400, with exactly the same Setup to dual-boot.

I also read a KB that SATA is not supported as a CRUDE device. Linux guests see the SATA as SCSI device.

Anyone has the fresh ideas on this or have met and solved this problem?

I stick it on my site: http://sanbarrow.com/p2v2008r2.html#patching

It shows how to configure the vmx file and how to fix the 7B...

    Patching - easy Variant

This procedure is used when otherwise the VM would start in a kind of bluescreen 7B.

This means that VMware is the target and that you configure the computer virtual with VirtualHardware type 7.

It applies only if the virtual disk is configured like this

    scsi0.virtualDev = "lsisas1068".

    scsi0:0. FileName = "imported.vmdk".

On the platform target start the virtual machine, newly created in the Windows 7 recovery CD.

After the initialization is complete, click CMD and run regedit.

Select HKLM, then Menu > file > load hive.

Navigate to the Windows directory on the virtualdisk > system32\config and select the file SYSTEM.

When asked for a name enter p2v.

    Then find the key

    HKLM\p2v\ControlSet001\services\LSI_SAS

and the startup type of the REG_DWORD value 0

Select HKLM\p2v, and then click Menu > file > unload hive.

You can now close regedit and restart.

The next time you start, you can start in the 2008 R2 or Win7 system. He should find the drivers and probably need to reboot when finished.
