creating tables in d2600-storage device

I am using HP StorageWorks D2600/D2700 Disk Enclosure, LFF, which is connected via a SAS cable to a server that is running linux ubuntu 12.04, I can access the storage via the terminal, my server is up to date. but I have the problem by creating raid 5 disk bays. can you please give the info of what patches, utilities, some operating-system-specific service packs, patch kits, orders, or other required tools.

    Thank you!

    Well!

    today I open a live chat with an EMC engineer session, he told me where is the problem!

    basically e line can't stand not VMFS on ISCSI with SRM replicationonly supports this replication with replication Manager (EMC product).

    E with Site Recovery Manager can only replicate with NFS format. The limitation is in the storage device, not MRS.

    Assessing other products, even on the other model that supports native replication block (VNX) or alternative to recovery after disaster as Veeam (to slow) or RecoverPoint.

    Thanks for all your help!

  • Re: NB550D - 'No mass storage devices' during the installation of Windows

    Hello!

    I recently bought a laptop Toshiba NB550D. It goes with Windows 7 Starter. So I decided to change the operating system, I want XP Pro or Windows 7 Edition Home Premium. Because the laptop is not a CD/DVD drive, I looked on the net for Windows USB installation.

    Problem is that when I install the USB, with regard to the partitions, it says I have no mass storage devices. I tried with XP and Home Premium, used 2 different programs to make bootable USB (WinSetupFromUSB and WinToFlash) and I tried with 3 different USBs to be sure that the problem is not of them. Both seem to do the job, but it still says I have no mass storage devices. I read on this forum, found [how to integrate a SATA AHCI driver into a Windows XP installation CD | http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB85017Z0000R01.htm] thread. I tried this, make an ISO with the built-in driver, made an another bootable USB key with it, but still, when I reached the partitions, they seem to be missing.

    I checked if the partitions will show if I start installing Windows directly from the Explorer to the laptop and partitions are then normally, so it seems that the problem only occurs when you try to install from a USB. But I want a * install own bootable *. I have no CD/DVD lens, so this isn't an option more.

    I'm really out of options on the left, tried everything I thought, it seems that I'm not the only one having this problem, but found no solution to it. Even if I put up with the Starter (even if I don't like), the HARD disk is separated into 2 partitions the two 116GB which is also very annoying.

    I'd appreciate any help! Thanks in advance!

    P.S. I also installed the latest drivers, BIOS seems to be too, but still did not help.

    Hey,.

    Which AHCI driver, I joined?

    Article you found how is just an example and is written for models with Intel chipset. I checked the NB550D specifications and this model has chipset AMD A50M, so you need another driver and the Intel driver will not work.

    So if you are looking for Toshiba NB550D European driver download page, you will see a driver called AHCI driver. This package contains the correct AHCI driver, but the problem is e for Windows 7 only. For obsolete XP it will not designed more pilots and that AMD is brand new. There is no old drivers.

    If you want to only Windows 7 Home Premium that s no problem. Therefore, you can use the mentioned AHCI driver. For example, to create a new Windows 7 bootable USB key with this driver and installation should work fine. :)

  • Problem of having to re - blackBerry Smartphones format memory to use Blackberry 8330 as mass storage device

    So I created it for my BB Curve 8330 (Verizon Wireless service) last night.

    • I formatted the 2 GB micro SD card
    • I changed the drive letter to avoid a conflict
    • I have all the latest updates I know from this announcement. (4.5.0.77 on the phone itself)
    • List of media cards: support 'on', 'none', Mode of mass storage card encryption mode 'on', scoped the mass storage mode when connected to 'yes '.

    Everything was fine. Even had a few tunes out there to jam to.

    Not even 24 hours later, I wanted to add more music and photos to personalize the BB more far. So I plug it into the PC but my computer Vista OS won't let me access the memory card. The BB has popped up on the list of drives, but if I click it, it says I need to insert a memory card into the mass storage device.

    I go to the BB Desktop Manager and go to the media. I have almost the same question.

    Even with a pop of the battery, check the memory card using a card reader (card is good) and the reintegration of the memory card, the problem persisted. I had to re - format the memory card on the BB again (to wipe everything), and then when I plugged in the USB cord, I could access the card again in the mass storage device.

    Reformatting was not a big deal since it's not like anything on the card has not been already saved elsewhere. However, I really don't want to have to do that on a regular basis. I understand the technology hiccups every now and then, but if I have to do every time, it's going to be a pain in the rear.

    So all that being said, is there something that I forgot that I need to check or trouble so I don't have to constantly re - format my memory card and re-load all on it? I have tried to do everything that I could think of and I tried searching these forums very, but I had no luck (or did not use the appropriate search string) in the generation of responses.

    A card microSDHC fixed the problem. The old card memory, I got in it was a regular 2GB microSD card. I bought a 4 GB microSDHC card and the problems no longer exist.

    I wanted to get a card greater new anyway, so I'm glad that all worked where I didn't have to do anything unwanted. The old card memory is great; It would be not just works perfectly in my Blackberry. I'll give it to the lovely lady of the House, who can update the 1 GB card in her phone.

    Newly created table not appearing is not in ESXi

    HP DL380 G5

    ESXi 5.5.0

    Smart Array P400

    I created the table using HP via SSH command line utility with the command on 2 x 300 GB drives

    hpssacli slot = 1 ctrl create type = ld = 1I:1:7, 1I:1:8 size drives = raid 300 = 1

    Grand - LEDs are lit and all is good - do a quick check of the State (note the new table is table C)

    Array has

    then 1I:1:8 (port 1I:box 1:bay 8, SAS, 300 GB, OK)

    Problem, I have now, is that it does not appear in storage, even when I re-fresh it or try to add additional storage. Is there anything else I need to do for the newly created table? On a quick google, I see nothing. I wonder if it is because I created the mirror with the actual size of the readers, however if this was going to be a problem, I don't know that it would be bombed when I created it.

    The problem is probably that the partitions exist at all. Unless you need these NTFS partitions, take a look at http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1008886 ("information partitioning compensation in ESXi using the DD utility" section) to see if that solves the problem.

  • Update to version 4.1 EXSi 5.1 with NetApp Filer as storage device

    It is simple to upgrade a single host EXSi the old version to a new version. But how to change a host mounted storage NetApp Filer (data store). I'm not familiar with NetApp Filer as storage device. Receive detailed information or step by step example 1) disassembled the NFS share? (2) the driver update from 4.1 to 5.1 3 exsi) then go up the NFS share?

    Hi ginger8990,

    It's me again by reviewing some of your recent posts, I see that you're eager to learn, so I'll throw a little more treats to snack on there.  That's just my opinion and how I do things, your and other approaches may vary.  A large part of it, you'll already know so forgive me, but better too much, not enough, I say.

    Compatibility

    Always check the compatibility and interoperability of the matrices for all suppliers.  When in doubt degenerate to a provider and ask, it's their job to answer.

    BIOS / Firmware

    When you upgrade, you can also take the opportunity during this downtime to update your BIOS Firmware server, etc. to the desired standard.

    vmkping

    Once the server is online and ESXi has been updated, you can confirm own access to storage by a vmkping on the IP Address of the file server to a session of putty/SSH on the VMHost (particularly useful for testing the frames extended if use you it).  Other than that, if you see that data warehouses are not grayed out (i.e. you can right click and browse their) then you should be good to go.  Set up a test of the virtual machine and discover things.

    VSC NetApp data OnTap Versions

    As you upgrade your VMHost 4.x to 5.x, this means that the version of vCenter was already updated (requirement hard as you know).  I see that you mentioned that you use vCenter (VCSA).  You also use the Netapp VSC?  If so this would be installed on a Windows Server of some sort I don't think that it is still supported on VCSA (but I could be wrong).

    See the version of your NetApp VSC plugin and talk to your storage team to decide if they want to update.  They might want to consider their Data OnTap version among others before deciding (OnTap version is also very relevant if research of VAAI and SIOC features... don't worry about these last 2 If you have not yet started it in this way).

    IVMS

    After the upgrade of the VSC, you should review annex IVMS (NetApp snapshots) If you use those.  Do not skip the IVMS review or you can violate SLAS for lack of shots every night.  The reason is that after a VSC your schedule component upgrade snap may have to be reconfigured.  In any case, the VSC upgrade is optional, but desired.

    Advanced settings (vmkernel)

    Using the traditional fat vSphere C# lient, you must also confirm that each of the ESXi hosts have the best practical vmkernel advanced settings for NFS.  You can view your VMhost conformity of the Home > NetApp plugin on the vSphere client.  I don't have it in front of me now, but I think it's under the "host discovery" in the plugin.  Just scroll your host in the plugin and see if it is consistent.  Alternatively, you can right-click and apply the settings to the VMHost in question (required restart ESXi).  The advanced settings can also be made manually in the Client vSphere for each host, or using PowerCLI.

    CDP and own Communication reports

    As always, before making any upgrade, it is always useful to collect a RVTools report and store it off to Excel for reference.  A COP report (as this or that) is also useful.  The CDP report shows the switch ports that your host is connected.  Send this report to your boys network and tell them of ' contempt restarts on the following interfaces during upgrades of the host'.»»  It's always nice to communicate, more if you have trouble the ports in question are clear for everyone.

    OOB (out-of-band access)

    Ideally, you should have the band access to the server (that is, KVM over IP, HP ILO, Dell iDRAC, IBM RSA, etc.).  These are all examples of the technology used to reach the server where the management interface is not reachable on the network.  If you do not, you should have physical access to the server, or planning your upgrade, when you know that someone who does not have physical access can reach the server if you have trouble.

    DNS and time synchronization

    Make sure that the synchronization host is NTP correctly and that the DNS addresses are correct.  It is a town that gets loser on fresh builds.  Your upgrade which should carry on but without problem.

    Profiles of the host

    If you use the host profiles, the final step would be to update or create a new profile of the newly updated reference host host (host > Host Profiles), and then verify the compliance of each improved host.  This view hosts and Clusters by selecting the Cluster in the left pane, and then clicking on the 'Compliance profile' tab in the right pane.  Then, right-click on the desired host and select "Verify profile respect" (then scroll way down to see if something fails verification).  When in doubt, stick to the upgrade of a host at a time and test/prove your success.

    Tools and vHardware for virtual machines

    After the upgrade, you can choose to update tools VMware, then the material as usual (both optional and can be postponed to a later date to support simple roll-back to 4.x if necessary).

    Note: since you're going to 5.1 we still call vHardware.  5.5 it is called virtual compatibility.  You can be several versions behind on this and always be supported.  Most people just do it sooner than later however.  Always just, don't forget to make the tools before hardware.  I think you have it mastered well

    Summary and closing

    OK, so it's a lot of techno babble I just typed (and believe me there is more) but the reality is that you would be fine not to read all this and just upgrade.  Try and do your best to organize your approach and research / ask questions until you are comfortable.  In the end, the best way to learn is through practice.  Anyway, NFS is very forgiving and is probably the easiest support in VMware thing.  Good luck and have fun!

  • The network for ZFS supports "virtual storage device.

    Hello

    I'll put up a 5.1 ESXI machine to test the performance / proof of concept with a "storage device" in a virtual machine on a host computer.

    Right now I use a version of solaris (community edition of nexenta) to test.

    With success, I was able to set up the machine with through disk controllers and add a vswitch initial with a configured vmkernel port and a group of ports for virtual machines. -J' was able to set up comments solaris vm with two adapters e1000 in the vswitch, to be used for the management and the other configured with an address within the same private network that the port on the management... network vmkernel and things seem to work well.

    I wanted to test if there is no improvement in performance using the vmxnet3 adapter and have a completely 'virtual network' dedicated solely to the nfs traffic.

    So I created an additional vswitch without adapters attached to it, with an another vmkernel port and a second virtual machine portgroup and added a vmxnet3 adapter to my "vm storage" to go on this vswitch.

    Before I do, I was wondering if VMCI or anything else already going to do what I want (i.e. ESXi allow communicate with the computer in virtual storage on nfs with speeds above that the limitation of the e1000 adapter would provide by default)

    I say this because my initial test with iozone gave me numbers that seemed beyond 1 GB...

    So, to summarize, the e1000 would be made generally better than 1 Gbit of networking 'local' (in the same host); and (assuming that the handles of the tcp/ip stack of the guest OS UI VMXNET3 well - IE drivers, configuration, the efficiency of the OS.)  the VMXNET3 adapter would be even better.

    It can even better if the uplink to the physical network is faster.  The rate of 1GBit 'link' basically means nothing.

    If someone could point me to a 'best practice' guide or the discussion about setting up isolated networks 'private host' for best performance with NFS virtualized shared storage, I'd appreciate it. My plan is to implement three hosts, with the majority of local data stores to the same host, with little nfs traffic going to each box...

    Well, there's really only 1 way to set up a network of 'host-only', so I don't think you will find a guide BP.

    Also the terminology escapes me a bit, because 'virtual private network', 'private network' have other meanings in other contexts. Don't know what to call a network which has not set the physical network adapters and is localized to a single ESXi host...

    Most called it a network invited only.

  • no storage device found more by guest operating system installation on a virtual machine

    Hello

    I'm trying to install a guest on a new virtual machine operating system, but I can't go forward.

    I use a Dell PowerEdge 2850 , the hypervisor Server VMware ESXi 3.5 update 3 and the VMware Infrastructure Client on my computer with operating system Windows XP host.

    I am able to create a new virtual machine, but also to start on a cd for installing a guest operating system, which is (still) of Windows XP. During the installation-Setup asks me to press on enter for a new installation, the next thing is a screen with the message that Setup cannot find any storage device! It's weird, because I use the same as other data store created vm is imposed and other virtual machines always work. I created the new virtual machine several times and deleted, this is no problem. I restarted the server, but that did not help.

    Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

    I also met this problem with a fresh install of XP VM.  Windows XP does not have a driver for the BusLogic or free storage controller... without that driver, only the virtual controller is not

    recognized and drives are not found.

  • Create table as select execution Issues

    I have a table that is 190 million lines (TableA). The database is on the storage of very old and slow. I'll try the following: create table TableB in the select * from TableA where field1 < 10000 [this should translate into about 36 million lines for the new table]

    The problem is: I started this work at 20:00 and 02:00 is still not create the table. My thoughts are that it accumulates the lines into a temporary table, initially based on the where clause and then it goes to create the table. fix? That being said, the customer has a problem with the execution of this request during the opening hours, BUT it does start in writing during the outage window (20:00-02:00) and, in fact, I never get to this point. In fact, the early stages making the ETG is not this CPU intensive, I should be able to start the ETG before 20:00 without too much grumbling and I hope that the part of writing occurs during the window [i.e.: start the ETG at 14:00]. Is there a way to determine how long a DEC will take before you actually create the table?

    Anyone know if I'm wrong about the way that Oracle treats this type of DEC?

    Thank you

    To speed up the DEC options

    (1) NOLOGGING
    (2) PARALLEL

    http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/E11882_01/server.112/e25523/parallel003.htm#BEIFIDIE

    How useful PARALLEL might be depends on your environment (in particular, the number of processors).

  • CREATE TABLE to another OWNER/SCHEMA and in a different TABLESPACE?

    I am connected to a user of the SYSTEM. Now, I want to create a table of aaa. The owner of this table should not be SYSTEM but user KARL. and STORAGE space should not be SYSTEM but the tdtc TABLESPACE (existing).

    As far as I know I can do this by running the following command:

    CREATE TABLE KARL.aaa (an INTEGER,...) Tttt TABLESPACE;

    Regarding the TABLESPACE parameter, I'm not sure. Is it possible to return a user Karl TABLE in a TABLESPACE that is not assigned to him?

    In addition, I have another problem.
    I have a script with hundreds of CREATE TABLE, ALTER TABLE + CREATE INDEX DDL statements.
    Each of them are not prefixed with schema/owner and a TABLESPACE clause.

    I can put a single statement at the top of the script somehow that such Oracle
    to use
    -Karl OWNER as a schema/owner for all DDL stements
    -Thomas TABLESPACE as TABLESPACE for all DOF stements
    ?

    In MYsql, there is a statement «use < database >» Is soemthing similar to Oracle?

    Thank you
    Peter

    Yes... you can do. For example, a user who has a secret password that you do not want to give... as a schema of the application. User B needs to make paintings/objects in A schema and you want to follow this as user B. First configure Oracles Fine grain auditing and then grant "connect via" user A to user B as follows:
    -----

    SQL> create user b identified by abc123
      2    quota unlimited on users;

    User created.
    SQL> grant create session to b;

    SQL> create user a identified by abc123
      2    quota unlimited on users;

    User created.

    SQL> grant create table
      2      , create session
      3     to a;

    Grant succeeded.

    SQL> alter user a grant connect through b;

    User altered.

    SQL> connect b[a]/abc123@a486
    Connected.

    SQL> show user
    USER is "A"
    SQL> create table a.my_proxy_table
      2  ( c1 number
      3  , c2 varchar2(50)
      4  , c3 date
      5  );

    Table created.

    -----
    See I have connected using the syntax "username [proxyuser]." Also note that user B is by proxy user has, as evidenced by my order 'show user '. The connection through can be granted/revoked as needed without disclosing A goes to B. In addition, your audit tables or xml logs will follow the fact that user B created the table a.my_proxy_table.

    Hope this helps,
    John

  • Create Table As select from a PLSQL Package

    Hello

    I'm trying to use an Assignment statement in a stored procedure using Execute Immediate.

    I first create the script in a variable:

    v_sql: = 'CREATE TABLE ' | v_archive_partition_name |
    "TABLESPACE TBS_ARCHIVE |
    "STORAGE (INITIAL 20 M) |
    "AS COMPRESS |
    ' SELECT *' |. '
    'FROM ' | v_table_name |
    «PARTITION (' |)» v_archive_partition_name | ' ) ' ||
    "ORDER BY". v_sort_order | '';

    Then I run:

    EXECUTE IMMEDIATE v_sql;

    When I run the present, I get an error of incorrect permissions, but if I run the SQL that is created manually by using the same user it creates the table correctly.

    Can someone tell me what grants should I apply for my procedure create this table correctly?

    Can someone tell me what grants should I apply for my procedure create this table correctly?

    acquired through ROLE privileges do not apply in the PL/SQL procedure named.
    GRANT must be explicitly made

    IMO, application should NOT do the DOF between application version releases.
