  El '4 disco' no apuntar al you can do disco padre como lo llama o original disco. Cadena del disco 4 iria al 3, del 3 al 2, del 2 al 1 y el 1 are el as apuntaria directly al original. Como you ponia el comment earlier so eres capaz regenerar los descriptores en base al tamano los tienes than configurar cada descriptor con disco discos knew CID propio y el parentCID del disco previo, decir, CID disco 4 mas parentCID = number del CID 3 disco, disco 3 con el al knew CID y el parentCID = al number del CID disco 2 etc., complete the cadena hasta. • Fully connecting directly attached data warehouses in a cluster of ESXi?

  I have deployed two identical 5.1 ESXi hosts (servers Dell PowerEdge r720xd) each to 5,46 with storage to direct connection. They are both currently enrolled in our vCenter Server 5.1 and participate in a HA cluster. Their respective databases are also members of a group of data store.

  Each host is connected to its own data store, but not the other host data store. This effectively disables most of the HA/DTS features, and connection status of host for each data store is marked with a warning for missing connections. We have desire of VM migration and load balancing between the two hosts and the warehouses of data to be as homogeneous and transparent as possible.

  My question is simple: what is the most practical and effective way to establish the necessary connections to reach a State fully connected to hosts and data warehouses?

  in this case you need something like a virtual appliance that uses your local storage to make it a shared storage. Your hosts can then access the storage via iSCSI/NFS. At the end of the day, you will have the space of a single node left (CT ~ 5.46), because the device (s) will reflect your data for more security against failure of the host.

  The easiest way would probably be the vSphere Storage Appliance

  But there are also other solutions as a virtual of DataCore and HP StoreVirtual VSA facility.

• Query - moving from ESX 4.0 (cluster) to ESXi 4.1 (cluster) license

  Hi all

  Am very new to VMware, please bear with me.

  We have in our existing Production cluster, consisting of three (3) 4.0 ESX servers and the intention is to replace them with ESXi 4.1 (U1) (under license).

  The plan should gradually slide each ESX 4.0 Server and install ESXi 4.1 (U1) of an image from HP directly on top.

  No drama it (?), but what about the licenses...

  I have a few questions I have to date not been able to acqurie myself.

  1. With each of the VH in the Production cluster, are we able to move a server in the cluster, upgrade to ESXi 4.1 and go back to the same cluster?
     
     
  2. If NO to question 1, which would be the recommended upgrade path where there is one (1) cluster, three VH (currently ESX 4.0) and we replace with ESXi 4.1 (U1).
     
     We have x 1 vCenter Server Foundation 4 license and three(x3) vShpere4 licenses advanced.
     
     Must these licenses be updated too?

  Am deparate to find answers to these questions.

  The answer to your question is YES - you can re - allocate your ESX 4.0 license to your hosts updated. the license is generic and can be removed from a host and added to the other using the License Manager.

• Impossible to enable Fault Tolerance on a cluster of ESXi 4.1

  Can anyone offer any suggestions as to what I may have missed in the attempt of activation FT on our VM vcentre?

  The Setup is a cluster of 3 nodes Dell R610 (record identical machine) with an iSCSI SAN, licenses are Enterprise

  VCentre VM runs on this cluster and I would allow to FT.

  Cluster goes on Site 2.5.2 brilliantly, all green ticks and not a red cross. VCentre VM disk has been eager to zero cloned, CD/disks removed, only uses 1 vCPU

  When I try to activate FT I get an error "the VM runs in a monitor mode that is not compatible to the fault tolerance", which is breathtaking in its usefulness

  Any ideas where to go from here? Is there a more detailed log than that presented in the gui VI who can point me in the right direction?

  See KB 1036775 for instructions on changing the mode of monitoring.  For the compatibility of fault tolerance, you want to 'use Intel VT-X/AMD-V for the instruction set virtualization and software for MMU virtualization.'

  Ante todo decir este are a Québec fallo he revisado y las responses in different los don't post han well para help me, good os.

  El caso are that I have 2 servers DELL PowerEdge R420 fisicos identicos, cada uno con ellos 3 VMs sober instaladas VMware Workstation 9. The first virtual machine are an image of Kerio control, a second virtual machine to Windows Server 2012 con dominio Controladora, is the third VM con WS2012're donde quiero crear el cluster con dominio usuario. ESTOS servidores knew vez esta una cabina data via iSCSI connected.

  Add tambien when performed the tests of validation led Cluster, todo lo tengo OK. El caso are so creo el cluster con el Nodo 1 y 2 Nodo (sugar Québec cada uno fisica Máquina distinta ellos y bajo mismo Dominio) me error UN da has the el crear hora cluster. In cambio, if creo el Cluster con este nodos if any to crea, pero el fallo viene a hora of connect UN nodo adicional (ya sea o 1 Nodo Nodo 2). Este fallo viene cuando el nodo TR checks are completely funcional in el Cluster, is is "pensando" y da fallo por tiempo sold.

  He revisado problemas similar y he visto that el antivirus can be una causa e caso no lo're are only aun no he wont any AV...   El problema're (sniffer lo of UN pones veras TR), Los nodos assume ip-spoofing y arp spoofing cuando salen por tarjeta of Red led host.

  Para hacer eso as pides, deberias workstation pasar an esxi.

  UN tenemos con 2 nodos ESX cluster. Los nodos replaced its ESX 3.5 version back. Queremos ampliar el cluster con UN tercer nodo y los existing migrar a 4.1.

  I have a 2 cluster nodes ESXi 5.0.0.

  I intend to spend one of the 2 nodes to ESXi 5.5 U2 by inserting the CD of U2 ESXi 5.5 in the CD from the host and performing an upgrade: is there a question I should?

  Since a few days/weeks, I can't upgrade the second node.

  Is there any problem if one of the 2 i ESXi 5.0.0 and the other nodes is 5.5 U2?

• Migration of virtual machines to vCD and again in a standard ESXi cluster itself?

  We currently have a relatively small cluster of ESXi (5.0.0 1489271) which uses a dedicated installation vCenter (5.0.0 1300600) and an instance of vCD (vCD 5.1.2.1068441).  Our goal is to move the virtual machines running in this configuration to our standard ESXi clusters (5.5.0 1892794) supported by installation of different vCenter (5.5.0 1891313).

  The instance of vCD seems to add additional parameters to the level of the virtual machine that prevents the VM of to be easily transferred out of the instance of vCD.  What we are looking for is a way to easily migrate these servers on and completely remove the vCD of the equation.  The only details around that we found cause downtime for exports out of vCD can be extended to reason the total amount of drive to the VM and VM level, which we really do not think it is an option to open a window of time to stop long enough to work through this process.

  Did someone went down this road before?  We have approximately 120 virtual machines in the cluster vCD using about 52 TB of disk.

  Maybe we're wrong understand something fundamental about the nature of migration of VMs on the vCD instance, but we have not been able to find many details on what options exist to make this move.  We have spoken several times with VMware support in this regard.  They mentioned a potential tool in the work within engineering migrate vCD to vCAC (which isn't really fall under our goal unless vCAC would then provide a clear path to return the virtual machines to a standard ESXi cluster).

  Any suggestions or ideas are appreciated.

  We have built a new Cluster on ESXi 5.5 with 2 servers DL380 G8 (hosts) and a HP Storevirtual 4330 connected via iSCSI to SAN storage. ISCSI all have 4 cards attached to an iSCSI network 1 GB Switch.

  The HP Storevirtual 4330 has 7 TB of space but will be 1-1, 5 to virtual machines and the data on it. processors Xeon 2 x 16 and 256 GB of RAM in each host.

  There are 10 VMs (2008 R2) server on the cluster.

  I also have a G8 DL360 with 5 TB of space on it and an autoloader CF HP 1/8 (I need to make the weekly and monthly strips for compliance requirements).

  I have 4 additional network adapters in the present to connect to the iscsi san network if it is an advantage.

  All my previous backups were backups on tape, but will have to be different.

  I was wondering what is the best solution for me compared to

  What types of backups are best (instant storevirtual, POS or software (Backup Exec and VEEAM are my options)

  Where to store data backups (SAN or a space on the backup win2008 server)

  What kind of backup gives less impact on the performance of the SAN, hosts or VMS running.

  Deduplication is assistance in the management of space, if so what should it be set up.

  If you use StoreVirtual as the underlying storage, no doubt, then take a look at Veeam that deeply integrates the device said, allowing you to use SAN snapshots during the backup process. This, in turn, considerably improves iterator and reduces the impact of the activities of backup from the production environment.

  We have a request from MS Failover Cluster configuration on Windows 2008 R2 2 guests with a storage shared for a web application. However, there is no VMFS storage of data or the ability of the CF to presending RDM. So, I created the disks shared on a NFS datastore using option "Setup for Failover Clustering and Microsoft Cluster Service" and have added the cluster disk and tested successful failover.

  But the MS cluster validation control cancelled storage and I want to know if that configuration is not taken because of supported.

  A notice would be useful.

  We are also working on setting up a cluster of ESXi for iSCSI storage, which can be leveraed for this purpose.

  4.1, your only options supported are:

  • CF storage with pRDMs
  • iSCSI storage with initiators guest.
