Criar como um capacity-planning

SRS,

Primeiramente gostaria of me get e convidar pela comunidade.

Penny associate of TI e 10 anos started an atuar strong VMWARE com a 6 meses, com virtualizacao atuo 8 Años mas com Citrix Xen Server.

Hoje me faith solicitado than verificasse o quanto a empresa pode crescer com os recursos virtualizacao than possuem, gostaria to Sabre is alguem ja Fez um capacity planning for VMware e o than devo analisar, por exemplo:

1 - Quantas VMs EU can criar com 4 processadores num 2 socket Quad Core host?

2 - Memoria fico limitado has sole hosts back física

3 - disco fico limitado a sole física OU o as vem back/place

Very to say that factory criar "N" VMs to 4 processors, 16 GB of e memoria 100 GB HD

Alguem Puder is me passar o caminho das pedras e o bastante ja only.

Grato

Bem Vindo.

By realize of capacity o um ambiente primeiramente voce precisa Saber qual e o valor limit taking back hosts our CPU quesitos, Memoria e Disco, or seja você tem sua segurança para uma falha host possible margem.

Exemplo.

Para o disco, a little different, pq e algo menos cibersexo e.

Disco por cada VM exemplo para sua will be using 116GB of disco (100HD + 16 GB of memoria vswap), EU recomendo estudar primeiro is havera backup dessas VMs, e caso esse faca leave Espaço snapshot backup book no datastore para nao gere problemas na hora of instant o apagar or coisa tipo.

Then e but or menos isso:

By CPU / Memoria e Disco: sword o consumo medio e o esperado growth.

AI com você do saber quanto isso vai GHz of Processador consuming VM em. Usually a sole vcpu core nao e limiting, pi os GHz Server fisico por terminate antes... rsrs

Abaixo uma logging da VMware perform esse tipo ability, no qual você do simular a Criação of VMs para saber quantos serivodres o fisico tolls will go suportar e tudo but. Acho vai cair bem pra voce, then tried catch a trial of 60 dias para testar.

Exemplo (Conta de Padaria) sem historical terms only the CPU...

PROCESSAMENTO 01 HOST PHYSICAL ABILITY

Physical host Kernel Clock Total
GHz proc 8 2.53 20.24

USE MEDIA VM / TOTAL ABILITY PROCESSAMENTO FISICO (TOTAL HOST 4VMS POR HOST, CONSIDERANDIO 100% CPU)

vCPU Clock Total Use media Use Media (GHz) Ability VM por host
VM 4 2.53 10.12 50% 5.06 4.0

  • What metrics to use for memory capacity planning? Active or consumed (in request or use vROPS)

    Hey all,.

I was wondering once more what metrics to use for memory capacity planning. Since the information from different sources (for example your ESXi host needs more RAM to Iwan Rahabok or VMworld 2012: Session VSP1729 - virtualized memory understanding performance management - Eric Sloof - NTPRO.NL Kit Colbert) pointing all assets (vROPS request), I expect that when we have high memory consumption / use in vCenter there will be no balloon / compression / permutation.

Also the metric active / request should not be used for all workloads (e.g. Java / DB), why is - this? I have not found the reason of this anywhere, only the fact.

Other sources such as Mark Achtemichuk suggests using consumed/use, which is the opposite (Understanding Active Memory - VMware vSphere Blog - Articles VMware vSphere).

So I thought I'll with active / demand as metric and ignoring the warnings inside of vCenter.

But the last time we have fixed half of our group, we had consumed/high memory usage and the vCenter began to inflate, compress, and finally to Exchange. Not a lot but I had not expected that, because memory active was only a small percentage of consumed.

Can someone explain to me why this happened and who is right on this issue.

    Kind regards

jengl I don't know if you asked the wrong question, or I give the wrong answer :-)

It is always good to attach screenshots, background to the issues, and what exactly you are trying to solve.

    You wrote:

    So to summarize:

-ESXi uses consume to decide when to start the recovery techniques of memory RAM

-To rightsize VMs for RAM, you must use the counter inside the BONE, not active

-If you do not want to commit too much RAM and have a lot of the balloon you should right-size your virtual machines or extend the RAM / buy additional servers

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

My answer: you are right. If you do not have access to the guest operating system, then Active VM and VM consumed are better guess. Better than nothing :-)

Sizing sizing of VM and ESXi are 2 different things (2 use cases) different. Please don't mix up the as soon as they are confusing. Do not try to resize the virtual machine when you are sizing the ESXi, unless you have a control total on them.

    You wrote:

The question for me is: how many cache (standby under Windows) inside the VM is really necessary for the virtual machine to get the best performance without wasting resources. Perhaps this issue can be resolved only by tests or do you know another option?

My answer: it's a different topic brother :-) It is different, because it is within a guest operating system (Windows in this case) and is no longer at the level of the ESXi. Suggest that post you another, possibly under Windows or vSphere too :-)

  • Recommendation of the capacity planning tool

Anyone have any suggestions about a good capacity planning tool?  Aware and some exposed to the CapacityIQ and vKernel and reflected on the operations of vCenter.  Someone at - it experience with VMTurbo or SolarWinds?  Thank you

I would also like some the best analytics that I saw in the treatment of pre-virtualization capacity planning through immune in the mix - as long as the ongoing capacity management.

  • The P6 capacity planning

    all. Thank you.

Notice of capacity planning draws a number of recordsets (projects in a portfolio, project types, roles in a portfolio, the role data spread and role schedules) that are used to display the planning grid capacity, but according to the user's selection, that it applies to a logic of treatment (i.e. adding by chronology) before the user discover interface is rendered.

I played around with this a bit and here are a couple of SQL which may help you point a response (just a guess on my part, I hope it will tell you in the right direction).
On a side note, I think that using the web services of P6 SpreadService.ReadProjectRoleSpread would be easier and less messy!

I think you need some SQL queries to get recordsets which are necessary for the capacity view planning information use.

    1. the projects of a given portfolio
    2. the roles on projects within a given portfolio
    3. divide the data for each project by role
4 data on the calendar for each role (play time more so I don't look in this dimension)

    Projects within a given portfolio:

    DECLARE @PortfolioName varchar (255)
    SET @PortfolioName = ' key projects plus $500 K.

    SELECT pw. WBS_ID, pc. PROJ_ID, pw. WBS_NAME, pc. PROJ_CATG_ID, pv. PROJ_CATG_NAME
    PCATVAL PV
INNER JOIN PROJPCAT ON a pc. PROJ_CATG_ID = pv. PROJ_CATG_ID
INNER JOIN PCATTYPE pt ON pt. PROJ_CATG_TYPE_ID = pc. PROJ_CATG_TYPE_ID
INNER JOIN PROJWBS pw pw of ONE. PROJ_ID = pc. PROJ_ID

WHERE pt. PROJ_CATG_TYPE = 'Type of project.
    AND PF. PFOLIO_NAME = @PortfolioName
ORDER BY pv. PROJ_CATG_NAME, pw. WBS_NAME

Roles of the projects within a given portfolio

    DECLARE @PortfolioName varchar (255)
    SET @PortfolioName = ' key projects plus $500 K.

SELECT sr. SUMTRSRC_ID, sr. PROJ_ID, sr. WBS_ID, sr. ROLE_ID, pw. WBS_NAME, rs. ROLE NAME
    OF SUMTRSRC sr
    INNER JOIN projwbs pw WE sr. PROJ_ID = pw. PROJ_ID AND pw. PROJ_NODE_FLAG = 'Y '.
INNER JOIN PRPFOLIO pr WE PR. WBS_ID = pw. WBS_ID
INNER JOIN PFOLIO ON PF pf. PFOLIO_ID is pr. PFOLIO_ID
LEFT OUTER JOIN PROJECT pj IT sr. PROJ_ID = pj. PROJ_ID
    Pw1 LEFT OUTER JOIN PROJWBS ON sr.wbs_id = pw1. WBS_ID
JOIN EXTERNAL LEFT rs ROLES WE sr. ROLE_ID = rs. ROLE_ID
    WHERE sr. SPREAD_TYPE IS NULL
    AND PF. PFOLIO_NAME = @PortfolioName
    AND sr. RSRC_ID IS NULL
    AND pw1. PROJ_NODE_FLAG = 'Y '.
    ORDER BY pw. WBS_NAME

Data propagation for each project by role

    DECLARE @PortfolioName varchar (255)
    SET @PortfolioName = ' key projects plus $500 K.

    SELECT sr. SUMTRSRC_ID, sr. PROJ_ID, sr. WBS_ID, sr. ROLE_ID, sr. Start_date, sr. END_DATE,
    SR. SPREAD_TYPE, sr. STAFFED_TOTAL_QTY, sr. UNSTAFFED_TOTAL_QTY, sr. STAFFED_REMAIN_QTY, sr. UNSTAFFED_REMAIN_QTY
    OF SUMTRSRC sr
INNER JOIN PRPFOLIO pr WE PR. WBS_ID = sr. WBS_ID
INNER JOIN PFOLIO ON PF pf. PFOLIO_ID is pr. PFOLIO_ID
    WHERE sr. SPREAD_TYPE <> 'FinancialPeriod '.
    AND PF. PFOLIO_NAME = @PortfolioName
AND sr. SPREAD_TYPE IS NOT NULL
    AND sr. RSRC_ID IS NULL
AND sr. PROJ_ID IS NOT NULL

Still, I didn't spend at any time to check to see if I had all the records of right and I really think that the using the SpreadService.ReadProjectRoleSpread would be more approach better to get the information you want but it was fun looking for a solution.

  • SOA - EAM capacity planning

I was handed a subpoena to prepare the "documentation of capacity planning" for what we call «Enterprise Application Messaging "(EAM).» I'm looking at the Oracle Fusion Middleware documentation and in particular Oracle® Fusion Middleware Guide of Installation of Oracle WebLogic Server Release 1 (12.1.1) 12 c that has certain essential prerequisites for mounting. This is a good start, but I know that there more planning capacity in the context of this notion EAM, as for example a database to persist messages etc and then, there are the "speeds and feeds" to consider.

My question is: are there white, recommended books or presentations of open world that are more recent than the 10g documentation and presentations that I found on the research that would throw the Oracle Fusion middleware more in a 'generic EAM context' this installation of 12 c documentation produced, I am to research to?

  • Capacity planning

    Hello

We have a problem with the space being exhausted very quickly. Our database is 10 TB earlier this year (January 2012) and we used up to 1 TB of space at the end of June-that is to say in less than 6 months. Currently, the size is 11.5 TB. It is an unusual growth. We want to follow exactly how we use space. Please suggest the best ideas of capacity planning.

I tried to find all the indexes whose size is larger than the size of the actual table, which did not much help.

I want to try and discover the unallocated space. any ideas?

    DB version: 11.1.0.7
    The EBS version: 12.1.3

    Thank you

  • capacity plan

What is the capacity plan when creating the database...

Generally, it is the projection that make you about how much space or other equipment, you'll need over time because the database grows. If you build a data warehouse, for example, you can expect he will move from an initial size of 500 GB to 2 TB, say, the initial period of 2 years. Which may require the purchase of hardware over time or buying a bigger server initially. Of course, there may be a lot of variation how accurately the capacity plan is, how far it goes and how sophisticated it must be. For example, if there are a lot of unknowns, you may need to several capacity plans for environments 'weakness of growth' and 'strong growth' or from other kinds of contingencies.

  • SmartView v11 has no batch and capacity planning?

Reading documentation, it seems that Smartview v11 has no batch and capacity planning. Am I wrong?
So if I want to schedule my reports Essbase and run reports in cascade to be grouped and sent by e-mail to different users (each receiver reports customized for their Business Units), how do I go about it?
Can we establish the rep; orts using financial reports and batch out by e-mail to users, who can then convert these EN Smartview reports so that they can run Drill-in analysis of detail?
    Thanks in advance.

You can also optionally run a VBA excel macro function to create a process of 'Batch' which would be updated on a worksheet or create a new workbook and send the file to an end user. Research in the smartview VBA commands there are a few very useful commands that could automate this process for you. I don't know about the process that you would use to automate a process to send reports of EN, but emailing from in excel is not usually hard to do through VBA and could help automate this process.

  • Create a report based on reviews of capacity planning

It is sort of a noob question, but I don't know how to do this.  I have attached the screenshot, I want to be able to send this form as a report.  I would do this?

The report which is probably the closest to virtual machines VMWare Cluster capacity, just plan or run.

  • Is it possible to create holes in capacity planning to HFM to end of PeopleSoft?

Usually this drill is not possible because the current version of FDMEE, she cannot use HFM as the source. Am I wrong in this assumption? But is it possible to achieve through customization possible? How users planning allows to drill holes in back to the source of the PeopleSoft system, if there is no direct integration? Why is it not possible?

    Thank you

    B

    Hello

How do you load data from HFM to Planning? I don't think a drill through the planning-> HFM - > Peoplesoft is not possible in FDMEE 11.1.2.3.700. 11.1.2.3 *, drill-back is supported only when the data is loaded via FDMEE.

  • Do capacity planning on an existing vmware environment

In the first phase of virtualization made us build 1000 VM on 120 esx host.

So we produced vm mass until 2008.

Now we found the overall architecture X 86, (CF) storage, (1 gigabit) network is very old.

We believe that we have many pieces of equipment and it is difficult to monitor and that the performance (disk quick access is not very good)

We thought about to use Scheduler capability to analyze it is VMware infrastructure, to know what we really need for an environment VM 1000.

But we do not know if the capacity planner has been designed to analyze the vmware environment it self, because it was only used to analyze the physical environment.

    I only know platespin.

    Lanamark (?).

    Free 5nine Planner (?)

    Are there other (free) market

Vmware capacity planner would be better it self.

I've done many evaluations of virtualization using Capacity Planner. Many of them were in organizations that have been partially virtualized, so the analysis includes both physical and virtual servers.

Capacity Planner will identify the virtual servers and mark them so they can be recognized in your inventory.  This is true of virtual machines running on ESX or Hyper-V. I don't have a problem using capacity planner to size a physical infrastructure refresh, and I am sure it would work in your scenario as well.

    Kind regards.

  • VMware Capacity Planning without using an Internet connection

    Hello

I tried run VMWare Capacity Planner without using an Internet connection. I have run Performance and utility collection of inventory and then I synced data. I was able to see the CSV files in the Outbox. I copied the folder on an interenet connection machine having when I click on synchronize data, it began to send the data to the dashboard. the data has been sent successfully, but when I am logged into the dashboard there is no data view. A message was displayed as not enough data.

Please let me know if I made a mistake in my approach.

    Thank you

    Pravesh

can u check with the administrator of your organization, which has admin on dash rights and see if the data is correctly downloaded to the dashboard.

also can ensure you that you use the same credentials on the two boxes on the client side. simple reason being it might be issue with the property user and group data that are downloaded.

  • Capacity planning: how to configure thresholds and installation for specific measure alets

    Hi all

I need some help/suggestions to set thresholds and alerts for settings storage.

    What I am doing?

    1. create a threshold for adapter EMC attributes as IOs, IOs read write

2 alert if the value is less than or greater than the configured threshold

    What I've done so far?

    1. create a new attribute on page vcops-custom packages

    vcops panel-> environment-> configuration-> atribute packages

Here are the properties of the attribute.

Attribute name of the Package: EMC storage processor

Type of adapter: adapter for EMC

    Resource type: SP

Attributes configured on the storage processor

    Disc: Written (e/s)

Selected settings are attached a screenshot.

    Question:

Could someone help me answer following questions?

As I receive all the alerts currently, I think I'm missing some configurations,

could you please show me how to get alerts for the specified thresholds?

Either way, Setup of thresholds in the screenshot is for testing purposes.

    Please show me the way.

    ARO

    Tom

I see that you asked the question 1 in a separate thread, How to export (if possible) vCOPS information -good, check this answer (hopefully it's very good).

Question 2: No, unfortunately not - he not automatically send mail. You found where you can configure the SMTP at UIS. On the admin page will work for sending reports and alerts triggered on ui vcops-vsphere. For the custom UI vcops alerts, you will need configure filtering with the 'filter_alertplugin '. This means that you need to configure an xml file, which is found on the analytical vm: /usr/lib/vmware-vcops/user/plugins/outbound/filter_alertplugin/conf/emailFilter.xml

This can be difficult and post in the forum would mean a complete manual. You can check the configuration of this file in the manual on page 82 in this document: http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vcops-57-custom-ui-admin-guide.pdf

    See you soon!

  • DRS and HA Capacity-Planning

We have a cluster DRS/HA of the four armies and so far it plays well for us.   Control Panel says we could potentially lose up to two guests and retain all the customers who live on them.  I have HA settings to not allow constraint violations.  Does this mean that I can continue to add hosts, and the VI software to prevent me to add too, such that we could lose a host is no longer and keep the guests?

I'm curious to know how I can load on the cluster before you start seeing performance issues and still be able to tolerate the complete loss of a single host.

I think what you mean by "adding more hosts" creating virtual computers, not you? If so, you can continue to create without any problem, in time that the HA cluster it can't handle more it will give advice you, given that you have configured the cluster to not allow any violation of constraint. This occurs when you try to turn on a virtual computer that will violate any constraints (cpu, memory). HA always respect all the resource pools, configuration of resources to virtual machines and amount of memory for each virtual computer.

Now, you should not be confused with computing power, since 1 VM that are really time CPU can eat as much as an ESX can give. I mean, both of ESX failure, you will notice a small reduced CPU power, since you will have multiple VMs per host until you retrieve the lost ESX.

    Hope this can help you.
