character set and the capacity planning

Hello and happy new year everyone!

A question again:

How the impact encoding charset (e.g. UTF8, WE8MSWIN1252. etc.) on the storage space uses?

I would like to a planning capability for a large DWH with 10 TB of data that grows to about 1 teaspoon per year.

Thanks in advance,

    Hi Experts

I am a (32 bit) 9i upgrade to 11g (64-bit) and I tried to understand the character of the next Oracle doc sets section. http://docs.Oracle.com/CD/E11882_01/server.112/e10897/install.htm#BABCABAC

PL indicate how you plan to upgrade. If you are about to upgrade directly on-site using DBUA scripts or migration, the characters will not change as part of the upgrade. The character set can be changed if you create a new 11.2.0.3 empty database and then perform an upgrade via export/import.

Oracle recommends to use the AL32UTF8 (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e25494/create001.htm#ADMIN13343) characters, but if your application does not expect never to use any characters that do not appear in US7ASCII, you can continue to use this game.

  • Changing the character set in the database 11G

Running Windows 2008 Server 64-bit and Oracle 11 g (V 11.2.0.1.0). I would like to change my default character set when installing from 11 G to CS AL32UTF8.

I read the utility Guide and Guide Support for globalization (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/server.111/b28298/ch11charsetmig.htm#g1011430), but none of these documents shows how you can effectively change everything / the character set of the migration. I would do this using the export and import utilities since this seems to be the most popular recommendation. But I'm really not sure of the procedure to follow to change the CS. For example, should I first export and then import then run the CSCHANGE script that is described in the globalization support Guide?

I would be grateful any guidance on how to actually change the character set to AL32UTF8 and all documentation that explains not only the concepts, but the STEPS of HOW this can be done. Thank you, J

  • Is it possible to set the character set to the instance level?

    Hi all

    I have some confusion.

means my database character set AL32UTF8.

and I want tio character set of instance is WE8MSWIN1252

He is liable to set the character set to the instance level?

Please answer Yes or no and why?

    Thank you and best regards,

Instance is memory process structure and background.

Character set is for the data and the data is stored in the database that differentiate the instance.

    So the answer is no.

  • character set and block corruption

    Hi master,

It is not a kind of question, but a discussion...

I would like to know how we can find the character set of database with dynamic display (under Oracle 10.2)? can we change after the installation of the database of characters?

in fact I was facing a problem when you import a .dmp file...

I was importing a dmp to oracle oracle 10.2 10.2 but the character set is different, so importation has not been started, he said possible character set conversion...

and another topic is very different from the previous... What are the causes of corruption block?

So what is the solution for this? I searched the net and got "try the new export file error or a State to support."

and what is the difference between NLS_NCHAR_CHARACTERSET and NLS_NCHAR_CHARACTERSET? and how they affect datbase internal operation?

    any suggestion is appreciated

  • Difference between file system capacity and the capacity of the disks in Capacity Planner reports

    Hello

I had to go on my Capacity Planner tool training soon, but I have a question on the front that frustrates me. In the evaluation report that comes out of the tool after the analysis, a use of disc section, which lists all the servers for analysis there. A column of this report is directed to file system capacity, another disk capacity. In all cases, the first is less than the latter. What is the exact meaning of these labels?

Some of the numbers differ substantially between the columns, for example 20 GB for a capacity of 36 GB of disk space for a server and file system. He said that only 20 GB to 36 GB disk is formatted/partitioned to use?

    As previously stated:

Disk capacity is 36 GB - physically, there are 36 GB of storage.

File system is logical capacity - the amount of space used by files on the disks.

File system and the capacity of the disks will never match because fees General table of file.

    I hope this helps.

  • How to interpret the data cache setting and the current value of data cache?

How to interpret the data cache setting and the current value of data cache? We found that even, we configure a larger data cache in Essbase 2 GB for example, the current value of the data cache is always much lower. Does that indicate an activities of data at very low recovery or something else?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello

When a block is requested, Essbase searches the data for the block cache. If Essbase is the block in the cache, it is immediately accessible. If the block is not found in the cache, Essbase in the index for the appropriate block number and then uses the index of the block entry to retrieve from the data on the disk file. Retrieve a block requested in the data cache is faster and therefore improves performance.

So as you say that its current value is much lower then % is very low, that a requested block is in the cache of Essbase data.

Hope that respond you to the.

You are the very welcome, Justin.

    Yes, that's correct. 2 x 8 GB PC3-10600 memory.

Memory will not run any more quickly than the FSB of the processor. Your CPU FSB is 1333 MHz.

For example: If you have installed 2 x 8 GB PC3-12600 (1666 MHz) memory, he would go only to 1333 MHz.

I don't think that there is no outside but except DDR5 memory in video cards.

But you can not mix DDR memory types, because they work with different voltages and the notches are cut at different places on DDR, DDR2, and DDR3 memory modules to prevent someone to install the bad memory in the PC and damage memory, motherboard or both because of the different voltages they run on.

  • Setting up the workforce planning

    Hello

We have an obligation to put in place a planning that is a requirement of the day 2 of the workforce.

    1. can create a normal planning application and then convert it to a workforce planning? If so, how?
2 have we not create a separate Plan with the workforce planning selected type when creating the application, implement the planning of labor?
3 Prereqquisites for the manpower planning?

    Help, please

    Hello

    1. can create a normal planning application and then convert it to a workforce planning? If so, how?
Rep. : you can have a separate planning application and customize it to planning by creating your own labour
dimension custom as an employee etc. But you cannot convert in workforce planning that comes with the installation of vanilla from planning.

    2. don't we have create a separate Plan with the workforce planning selected type when creating the application, implement the planning of labor?
Rep. : You don't have to create the type of separate plan for labour. When you select labor during the creation of the planning application
and initialize after the creation of the app, it will automatically create the actual cube plan type or of the active population of Essbase for her.

    3. prerequisites for the manpower planning?
Rep. : No configuration required, you can see the workforce_admin guide to learn more about the workforce planning.

  • Location of Composites of the EBS and the deployment Plan generator

    Hi all
I have a question of high level on the AIA.
I understand that a PIP (process integration Pack) is an integration of end to end into the information system from one end to the other. If the names of a pip could be:
SAP for integration of Ebiz invoice
    Ebiz integration Portal invoice
    Etc.
I also understand that a BSE (Business Enterprise) is a reusable service that can be invoked by a number of different applicants. For example, InvoiceEBS, etc.
My understanding is that an EBS can be part of many glitches.

I worked through the update and I got to the point of using the deployment Plan generator to generate a deployment plan. When you run it I came across this message:
    [java] EBS composites should be under $AIA_HOME/pips / < projectCode > or $AIA_HOME/pips / < projectIndustry > / < projectCode > for the seeds of the industry.
[java] The CBA and the AdapterServices must be under $AIA_HOME/services.

That said, it is expected that the composite EBS under the directory of a PIP in particular. This means that if SAP_to_Ebiz_Invoice_Int and Portal_to_Ebiz_Invoice_Int use the same EBS then composite EBS must be duplicated in the two directories. This is clearly wrong that we would have to keep several copies. (This has implications for maintenance, Version control, etc.)

It is not sensible, so there must be an error in my logic. Does anyone know where I have gone wrong?
Oracle expects that in a few years when we need to make an update to BSE or other objects in the PIP as go us back and use the same project in PLW or should we create a new project in PLW and add all objects?

    Thank you
    Robert

    Robert,
I checked with the genius of the FP and it comes to new behaviors introduced with 11.1.1.4 that I wasn't aware of the institutions. I have recorded a request for internal improvement because I think that it is not ideal for the clients of the FP.

It seems it must be under $AIA_HOME/pips /, where is the code that you have entered in the PLW and you would also find in the BOM.xml. Have you tried both?

Just to make sure that I understood: the error means only that RFP generator cannot find the composite and, therefore, can not assing a path to the composite in the DP and you will need to add that manually. Or is the generation of DP even stop alltogether?

  • Character constants and the color constants

There are many useful character constants,

but sometimes (if English is not the mother tongue) is not easy to guess what it looks like on the device

is there anywhere a document showing the visible result of all character constants, or can I do it by myself?

even for constant colors - is there a document where you can see how would resemble a color?

For character constants, you can look at the code published by the Unicode Consortium tables. They have an alphabetical list of all Unicode characters to http://www.unicode.org/charts/charindex.html. Each character links to the appropriate code chart.

Alternatively, there is a nice searchable data base of characters at http://www.fileformat.info/info/unicode/char/search.htm. Just type the name of the character (without the features of underscore) as it appears in the documentation of the api for the characters.

A web search for "html color table" shot to the top of http://www.devguru.com/Technologies/html/quickref/color_chart.html, which shows the HTML colors by name.
