Cry - iPod randomly erases an entire library without warning

My iPod touch and then nine (5 months) simply erased my entire library of my device, it can be the unit as this has happened four times woth my previous iPod Touch.

99% of my library is burned discs & iTunes titles, the last 1% are mine. Maybe 10 cartoons / episodes, the rest of my library are songs. It takes me almost a week to reorganize my library so I cry, I admit, since I have to do it again.

This morning I was adding a stubborn movie file - it show up under the list of movies from my ipod, but be invisible in the playlist customized device iTunes and the iPod.

I have "manually manage" checked. Today, I clicked on 'synchronize & remove movies' to add the stubborj file, but it erased EVERYTHING, music, music videos, home videos, movies to iTunes. WITH NO WARNING in addition to warning will erase movies, however I did have some movies!

Backup did NOT restore a single file!

What I've done wrong? Second, how do I not do it again? Or do I have a corrupted iTunes? My Windows 7 PC had a recent service so my laptop is fine.

You cannot change to manage manually synchronize it without it erasing unit. It should provide you with a warning well. In addition, your library must be on your computer. This is where you get your music to the rear, not from a backup. Synchronize your device to your iTunes library on the computer. If you want to add a movie, make sure that it is in a format supported by iPod, then add it to your iTunes, then sync the device again.

When you get the new iPod, you can use iTunes on your computer to select and synchronize the music you want on it, in the same way that you synchronize your current iPod - your iTunes will recognize them as different devices and will remember your choice of synchronization for each, it will not (unless, for example, you restore the backup of your current on her iPod) put the same content on both.

  • How can I keep an iPhoto library, update on two Macs without copying the entire library every time?

Sorry if this has been asked several times before, I looked but could not find an answer to my specific questions...

Currently, I keep my iPhoto on two different Macs library by periodically copy the package to the main computer entire iPhoto library to an external hard drive, then loading into iPhoto on the second machine.

The problem is that it takes a lot of time and I find myself doing less, which means that I am often without recent photos I want to join the second Mac. Is there a way to copy only the new pictures/videos added since the last copy was made on the hard drive, which I can then add to the library on the second machine without replacing the entire library?

I was wondering if it was possible to use the software of incremental backup to backup on the external drive that I could then use to update the second mac. In this case would be that I have to replace the entire library on the second mac every time, but at least it would be a faster process that also copy entire library since the first mac in the first place.

Or I can just select the most recent photos and videos in iPhoto and batch export via the external hard drive to the second mac? I think I read that this is not copy all information such as good changes? Or am I wrong?

If none of this is possible in the way that I'm demanding, could someone suggest an alternative photo storage software for Mac that I can have more control on?

Yes, you can use an incremental backup or clone (like Carbon Copy clone or SuperDuper) program for updating the second library - this will not libraries merge in order to not do that is you make changes to the second library on this machine - it only makes library 2 exactly as 1 library each time that you run

Back up your library, update if necessary iTunes and sync the iPod. This will not normally remove anything from the iTunes library, but other things can.

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

If I understand your post, you are a member of Apple's music, and you want to download all of your music on your iPhone for offline listening.  To get help this process, please follow the steps below.

Download songs, albums and playlists to listen to offline

You can download songs, albums, or playlists on your device so that you can listen to them when you are not connected to the Internet, you need to download tracks, albums or playlists on each device that you want to use for offline listening.

    * You can download music on up to 10 devices. These songs are only available during your membership of Apple's music.

On your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch

    1. In the music application, find the element you want to download.
    2. Tap the More Options to the right of the name of the song, album, or playlist.
    3. Press the download icon to the right of the article work. If you see a instead of the download icon, the question is not in your iCloud music library. Press on the to add the item to my music, then press on the download icon to download the agenda on your device.

Songs and albums appear under my music > library. Playlists appear under my music > playlists.

    On your Mac or PC

    1. In iTunes, find the item that you want to download in the tab my music or playlists. You cannot download items to listen to offline on the iTunes Store.
    2. Click the icon to the right of the name of the song, on the album cover, or cloud to the right of the name of the playlist.

Songs and albums appear under the music of my Playlists tab appear in the tab reading lists, under the Playlists of music from Apple in the sidebar.

Simply display songs, albums and playlists that you downloaded on your device

    • iPhone, iPad and iPod touch: In the Music my tab, click library. Then press one of the different points of view (artists, Albums, etc.) and only turn on offline music. A message that says "not showing music on this [device]. Display all the music. "at the top of the screen. Tap view all music to see all of your music.

  • How can I erase my Xbox library?

So Xbox Music pretty much truncated my large collection of music, change tags, reallocation of songs from different albums and others. I would like to erase it, difficulty my music library and then stay away from Xbox Music until the fix it. However, it seems to be in any way in the App XBox music to clear the library (and the songs he equalled in the 'cloud') without selecting delete, which actually removes the files from my local library. Now, I have a backup, so I can just delete all, but why it should work this way? EVERY music app I've ever used has an option to remove the commands of the library without touching the actual music files.

Large. I've already found the solution: return to iTunes and the iPhone. Everything works. And better quality.

  • How do I add to itunes library without duplicating files

I have two computers and therefore two local iTunes library. A while back, I moved my iTunes Media on dropbox folder location, like that I could have one place two libraries would draw from. When I got new music I would like to import into a library as usual, and in order to get on the second library I was going to just come to 'Add to library' on the second computer and reselect the same iTunes Media folder. For longer, it would scan this folder and import only new music, however for some reason any now whenever I try to 'Add to library' on the second computer it begins to import duplicates of the entire library rather than just new music. Not sure if I changed the setting on this, or if it is a change caused by an iTunes update? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you add a media to an iTunes iTunes library folder will ignore all media for which there is a reference specific dedicated location in the iTunes library file because it is already in the library. You see all the broken links! = What you say all your old references should all be showing broken links because you see everything add iTunes think it is different from that of the current storage location library tracks.

This is the risk of using something like Dropbox for storing media.  I don't really know what is happening in detail and it is unlikely, that it has nothing to do with an iTunes updated since iTunes behaved this way since version 1.  Sometimes of storage devices what top-level network address needs such as NAS play this kind of question and Dropbox is certainly network.

  • Photos.app download of my entire library after backup time machine

OS X El Capitan, Photos 1.5...

I've restored my mac from a time machine backup. Now pictures downloading my photo library 63 GB (on my poor 1Mbit upload connection shared with a household of users).

He had already done once before on my macbook, but I just discussed with him and took it to a place that had a speed of fast download for a few hours.

This machine is an imac so I can only do :-(

Why are the pictures reuploading my entire library if it is already in icloud? and how can I make it stop?

Seems that it must have a mechanism like dropbox where it checks if the file already exists in the cloud and then puts a check mark next to indicate that it is synchronized...

What makes it more problematic is the fact that the photos app is not download new content from my photo library until the download is finished... so I have about 5 days of photos in icloud which are not visible on my imac...

I tried searching but the photos.app unfortunately vague name and a ton of articles vague time machine has proved to be an obstacle that cannot overcome my Googling skills.

    Thank you!

Why are the pictures reuploading my entire library if it is already in icloud? and how can I make it stop?

Photos have no way to know if the 'new' restored library is the same as what is stored in iCloud photo library, then it is control a single photo at a time...

You can pause downloading pictures > Preferences > iCloud, and then resume it during the night when it is not slowing down your normal use.

  • iTunes command-L shows the current song and selects the entire library

I am running iTunes on OS 10.10.5 12.4.1.6.  command-L takes me to the current song, but select the entire library to play the next song.  In other words, if I chose a genre, artist or album to play and I command-L to see the current song, iTunes deselects the genre, artist or album and selects rather my entire library to play the next song.  command-L did not work that way - the genre, artist or album has been selected and the next song played would continue to be of the type selected, artist or album.

Someone has a solution for this, or is this a bug in iTunes 12.x.x?

    Hello jjnorris,

Thanks for this info. I know that having the command-L keyboard shortcut doesn't work only in iTunes isn't the Apple experience you expect. Command-L should show the currently playing song in the list according to shortcuts - using iTunes Web site.

After testing, I wasn't able to reproduce your problem in the same version as yours. The next step would be to re - install iTunes for this refining: OS X Yosemite: reinstall the applications that came with your Mac

The iPad does not have a SIM card. Most are wifi only.  The USB jack on the side of a machine very likely does not provide enough current to recharge an iPad. Use the power supply provided 2.1 watts (if you have one - if it isn't get a).
