  I see a lot of threads with this problem, but none of them seem to have an answer.

  For some reason any right now when I try to open a PNG file in Photoshop it goes right down.  I find myself with an endless "hour glass".

  I had all my directories project website on a network share.  As I no longer sharing all these files with an office of people I decided to move all these files to my own local computer project.  Since I did I can't open PNG files in Photoshop.

  You can open any other file type?  Or are all opened files causing a freeze?

  If the latter, you can try changing your printer to a local device (instead of on the network).

  It could also be that you're clock looking for recently used files on the network (which is really a problem with the network driver code).  Disconnection of the server network can help.

  You should not actuall open/edit an attachment or a file on a USB drive, the file must be saved to a document on the PC first and opened/edited location.

  I am running the newest version of Photoshop CC on Windows 7, and it crashes whenever I try to open a PNG file. I rebooted my system several times, in addition to uninstall and then reinstall the software, but the problem persists.

  The problem may be caused by moving them to a different location than the one they were originally save to. It could also be cause by removing a font used in them, or if the police are corrupt.  Can you open in another program, such as Photoshop?

• 15.0 Firefox problem rendered png files

  I just upgraded to Firefox 15 and have noticed a problem in rendering png files. I rebooted, cleared the cache, run in safe mode, nothing works. I saw the same files with IE 9, and they look very good. I also copied the files on the desktop before displaying their but the problem remains of rendering. I have attached a jpg showing cropped images of FF and IE on the http://www.petapixel.com/ site and also attached the original png file.

  I would be grateful for any suggestion.

  Nothing I can think - my graphics driver is a default installation of the AMD software (although I do not install the Catalyst Control Center). I do a bit of photography and have gfx.color_management.mode set to 1.
  However, I followed your advice and created a new profile and the problem disappeared. Back to my original profile, and the problem comes back. This behavior has persisted through several reboots so, fingers crossed, the problem looks like a corrupted profile. But I'll give it a few days this time before mark the issue as resolved.

  I am trying to open an image file that was sent to me by someone who uses a newer version of the AI, I.  I'm working out of CS4.  I also work out of Windows if it matters.

  The preview of the file on Windows is something different. It is not vector data, but just a glimpse.

  Ask the person who sent the file to downsave to CS4 for you. Will be the best solution, because the PDF content is flattened in every possible way.

  Hi I was sent an EPS file. I'm running on Adobe Illustrator CS6. When I go to open this file it says I can't open it becuse he was created in a newer version of the software I have. Does anyone know a way around this so that I can open the file?

  Select it and then click on "embed" in the control bar. It might be a bit of a mess of traces of clipping subsequently. Ideally, to get the sender to downsave to your version.

• New problem opening Pagemaker files in InDesign

  I have a lot of files to archive in Pagemaker 6 and 7 and now use InDesign CS2. Until recently, I could open the pagemaker files in InDesign and save as files InDesign and there I went.

  But now, I get an error message just saying: the document is damaged and cannot be recovered. First off I thought it was really a corrupted document but then realized all my old .pmds said the same thing.

  Is there a known issue with perhaps a recent update of InDesign or something?

  CS2 + Windows XP Service Pack 3 = cannot open PageMaker files, at all.

  If my proposal is false and you are on a different OS, you can just ignore me.

• Problem opening FLA file

  I worked with a Flash file on and off for a few weeks and now I am unable to open the file. When you try to open it I see the dialog box error following 'a call API came out abnormally.
  
  Could someone tell me what can be the cause of this and how it could be solved. There is nothing too special is happening in the Flash file - it loads data from a couple of XML files and presents the news of pie charts. It has a number of screens that are set along the timeline, the user can navigate and load in external SWF.
  
  A considerable amount of work has gone into this file and it is due for completion today. I have used a trial version of Flash Professional 8 and am awaiting delivery of the software in a box. I tried another copy of the trial on a separate and asked a friend to start machine, but it gets the same error.

  See if this helps:

  1. Start Microsoft Excel.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  3. On the general tab, clear (uncheck) ""ignore other applications ' and then click OK. "
  4. Quit Excel.
