CS6 - assign a different page for the table of contents start on

I have a table of contents in a document ID CS6 page current 1 TOC starts on the actual coverage. I want to do the introduction and about me listed as names of page not page 1 or 2. I want to page 1 or 2 to start on what is now page 6. I know that there is a tute for any of this help?

RD

Select the 6 page in the Pages panel, right-click and choose numbering and Section Options.

Start a new section and then change the 1 bib, say OK. ID complain of duplicate page numbers, so do the same for the first page of the document, but this time change the numbering style. It is a tradition to use lowercase Roman numerals for the preliminary pages.

Acrobat Pro is certainly not the right tool for editing. You want to change the manual using the source - MS Word files for example. Once you have the full changes including OCD work as you want, Acrobat Pro is the tool to convert the source document to PDF format, and ensure the accessibility requirements of 508 - and preferably ISO 14289 (PDF/UA) - are met.

• When I generate the table of contents from a new .book, I get blank pages between each page of the table of contents

With FrameMaker 2015. When I generate the table of contents from a new .book, I get blank pages between each page of the table of contents, they are totally blank does not even a block of text. I click on Add> autonomous Create TOC. I keep the default settings. And that's what I'm left with.

I can get rid of them by special> Delete page. But I never had to do before the 2015 version. I tried with older files generated in frame 10. same thing. If someone has encountered this?

Master Pages are part of each document.

You can import master pages from another document (i.e. a ' model') in your current document using the file > import > Formats... option and select layout from the list (deselect all others).

If you have changed the current TOC for the problem of the Page Master on the left, then simply save the file and use the Edit > update book option for that OCD regenerated by using the new page templates.

• How can I exclude a level for the table of contents, but this amount as a bookmark?

I know how to exclude a level for the table of contents (or rather include only levels I want to be included) and also how to create bookmarks from the table of contents entries, but how can I exclude a level for the table of contents, but always include it as a bookmark?

Make 2 toc styles. One for the entries in the Bookmarks panel, you can generate a table of contents on the side of any page, and you must score in its definition to create bookmarks and other things that you use to build the table of contents for the visible part of your document to print. This should have unchecked the option create a bookmark in its definition.

• How to set different color for the table column header

Can I set different colors for the 4 following as being attached.

-color of the header text

-the head of the column of the background color

-color of the text of the content

-color of background content

The value of the cluster - 2, -2 to define all of the cells,

Then go back and the cluster the value-1, -2 to simply set the line header.

(If you also had a column of row headers, then -2,-1 would set them. Course the upper left corner which is the intersection of the column header and row header will change with any of them.)

• Captivate display default V4 for the table of contents - effect of overlay/entity

Here's something I've learned painfully. A brand new user, I couldn't understand why my OCD didn't show. Then I noticed that there was a button table of contents in the playback control. Clicking on that table of contents appears. But I wanted my users to have a KNOCK ON by default. I searched the tutorials and help, finally called support. The person no-Help me had create a new project and, since a new display TOC by default, she insisted it was a problem specific to the project, gave me a url for how to avoid damage to the files and said I had to redo my project! I said it must be a bug feature or without papers, but she said she wouldn't report it because I was the only one with the problem. She could not address my point that I had certainly not created the button table of contents in the playback control.

After getting off the phone very frustrated, I discovered this is a feature of the TOC/entity overlay option. If you choose overlay, button table of contents appears in the playback control and click for table of contents display.

Wishing Adobe would only add this point in the help file.

• topic is not highlighted in the table of contents

Hello...

Here is an example of what I want my CHM to look like. As you can see, when I am in the topic in the critical Section, I see that it is highlighted in the table of contents. This occurs for each topic.

highlight.jpg

In my CHM file, when I click on a topic, this topic is not highlighted in the table of contents. For example, when I click on a link from a different page in the table of contents, the topic I'm on is not highlighted. How can I fix it?

Another possibility to get the topic open / selected appears highlighted in chm TOC.

Open the box to generate (HTML Help Options).

Click on edit in the additional Options section.

The TOC Styles tab.

Check the box to show selection always.

• FM10 cannot generate the table of contents with main points

Hello world

I've read some useful discussions here on this issue but I still can not to be able to solve this problem of main points for my OCD.

I already assured that the reference for all my image in my book files have the same reference table of contents of the page entry page. When I generate my OCD the main points are missing!

I then, open the reference page for the TOC file and paste in the same entries of table of contents of my other image files and then update the book to regenerate the table of contents.

Also, this does not solve the problem.

Any help to fix this would be really appreciated!

Here are some screenshots of my reference page for my OCD (below). I have ensured that this section is present for all of the image files from my book too (in their sections of the reference page for the table of contents).

• How we can print the page numbers for the shape of the TABLE OF CONTENTS when her excluded from the form page count?

Hi Experts,

We have the TABLE OF CONTENTS, followed by 100 forms totally 215 pages.

We checked in the exclusion of the option of number of form page SUMMARY form at the level of the group.

Followed forms of TABLE OF CONTENTS forms all use FORMSETPAGENUM rule at the bottom of page.

the first form followed by TABLE OF CONTENTS form the number starts page 1 of 215 and the last form closes at 215 215.

Now, I want to print the Page number of SUMMARY form only.

How can do us? Any thoughts?

Kind regards

RAMAN C

Hello Raman,

I guess that you included "Exclude the number of pages" option in the form of table of content (TOC).

There is a limitation in the studio. The functions of page number (PAGE NUM OF FORM / FORMSET PAGE OF NUM) will be ineffective when we choose the option "Exclude the number of pages" in the form of table of contents. Therefore, you was not able to print many pages of form as a table of contents.

The only way to print the number of pages is to deselect the option "exclude the number of pages. Then you can print the number of pages in the table of contents in the form of table of contents normally. However, this number of pages in the table of contents will add to the Total number of pages form set. The number of pages all forms can be controlled by Postransdal using the script [FORMSET PAGE NUM = TotalPages() - 1]

Kind regards

Mahesh

• Tags for accessibility - what to do with the Table of contents & more

I'm looking for assistance and advice concerning the marking of a PDF document for accessibility using Acrobat 9 Pro.

So far, the most I've ever done with Acrobat's create the occasional straight-text document and a few simple forms. But my boss asked me to score a manual of programming for accessibility and I'm a little lost. There are a lot of both the images and the code examples in this text that I have no idea how work with because auto-tagging is seems to be haywire.

I downloaded the Acrobat 9 Pro accessibility repair Workflow document and have done the following:

1. Determined that my document is not a scanned document.
2. Determined that there are no forms or the buttons in this document.
3. Set the language to English.
4. Set security for document "no security".
5. Determined that the document contains bookmarks.
6. Determined that the document is not a document labeled.
7. Run the accessibility full check.

This is where I ran into problems - both because of the nature of the document and my own ignorance of the process 'make accessible '.

My table of contents is divided into several areas indicated in the form of tables, but the individual elements of the array are improperly identified - I have no idea how to do to make them appear correctly. Advice would be appreciated. Suitable for the Table of contents even being a table? I know it's called a table, but it has several levels and I'm not sure what to do with it.

There are also several tables in the document. They appear especially OK, but Acrobat seems to think tables are made up of individual and figures produced "No alternative text for Figure" errors on some of them.

I mean, how the hell can I make text flow on code? The code is all text, not images.

If someone knows something about this whole thing accessibility I would greatly appreciate your comments.

Thank you!

Jenn

Assuming that the original manual is the WORD, it is probably best to simply go back to WORD and PDF Maker allows you to create the PDF file. Which will add bookmarks and other tags which will provide accessibility. Probably all that is needed. It is much easier to create your own tags. Of course, I guess you use style sheets in the original and this marking would be. If you have not used the style sheets in the original, you probably have a lot of work in front of you.

• Conditional User Defined Variable in the table of contents to RH10

Hello

I have a unique project created with tags of conditional compilation for a product in several countries. The name of the company was the same in all three countries, but now the name of the company in a country is about to change. I created UDVs with conditional compilation of tags to apply the appropriate name when aid is produced (Yay for RoboHelp 10 for allowing this).

There are 58 topics in the table of contents that include the name of the company in the title of the topic. My problem is, if I include the UDV to the title of a page in the table of contents, conditional text is ignored.

I guess that's because the table of contents allowing in conditional constructions apply to the page or the book itself and no text in the name of the page or the book.

Please can someone confirm that this is the case? If so, I'll make a suggestion to Adobe.

Thank you.

Hello

I hope that Willam won't mind my expand a little on the issue.

I note that you already seemed to be aware that the UDVs are possible in the text of the table of contents. And if I understand correctly, your problem here is that you want to condition the UDV in the table of contents, right?

Certainly a way to do that would be to have two different TOC entries. And apply tags to each, so that one or the other would be excluded. But to be honest, I always avoided tagging the elements of the table of contents that I saw myself mixed results.

The thought here for me is that I wonder why you feel the need to apply a condition to a variable? Why not use a different version of the variable? Of course, you create variables and insert them, but you can actually create different sets of variables that have different values, then when you create your output you simply choose the Variable you want to use.

• A link to a bookmark in the table of contents?

I couldn't find this anywhere in help. The only time where it says link a bookmark to a table of contents was if you have used the feature of automatic creation of your table of contents.

I think I figured out how do it, but wanted to run it by the forum to see if this is right.

This is how it is done?

1. Add a new page to the table of contents.
1. Enter a title.
2. The file name, choose the topic that contains the bookmark.
3. Click OK to save. Your page should appear in the table of contents.
2. Right-click on the page, table of contents, that you just created. The Table of Contents Page Properties window opens.
3. At the bottom of the page, where it says "link to", add # and the name of the bookmark at the end.

For example, if your subject appears in the form Entering_a_New_Customer.htm and the bookmark is called address, you would add #address the end of the filename. Gives you a link to Entering_a_New_Customer.htm #address

Is there another way to do it? In this way requires two steps and requires that you know the name of the bookmark; You can't navigate to it.

Hello

It should be simpler than that.

• Script errors in the table of contents in RoboHelp 9

Hello, all. I can usually find the solution to my problem by searching for existing threads, but I can't seem to find a solution this time. I recently upgraded to RoboHelp 7 to 9.0.2.271. I published WebHelp locally and checked the files in to a Team Foundation Server to be deployed in a test environment. Locally and on the QA site, the output seems fine for me and the table of contents works as expected. However, other users on Internet Explorer 7 and 8 (I have IE8) are getting script errors when you try to click on the pages of the table of contents.

I compressed my files the and dropped on a shared and player asked a user to copy on his machine and open the start with his browser page. He always gets the script errors, while another user can open locally without any problem. This makes me think that the problem is not in RoboHelp files themselves, but I'm not sure.

To further complicate things, in this environment, another server of QA, the table of contents and Index are empty! This is obviously a separate issue, but I'm stumped. This problem occurs in IE 6, 7 and 8. It does NOT occur in Firefox or IE 9.

Any ideas?

This problem has been resolved with a response from another discussion:

Re: RH8 > WebHelp > TOC will not be rendered in IE8 via HTTPS - Fix/workaround solution?

If the table of contents/Index/Search does not work in IE7/8/9 via HTTPS, try the following steps

1. Go to https://acrobat.com/#d=WqbdTq-2R79ToU08-zfBEw
2. Download the IESearchIssue.zip file. Unzip it.
3. It will create an IESearchIssue folder. It has two subfolders
1. RH8.0.2
2. RH9.0
4. If you use RoboHelp 8.0.2, go to the folder RH8.0.2.
5. If you use RoboHelp 9.0, navigate to the folder RH9.0
6. Navigate to the \RoboHTML\WebHelp5Ext\template_stock folder and rename the file whutils.js in whutils.js.bak
7. Now, paste the new whutils.js already copied into the same folder.
8. Now again generate webhelp output the required project.
9. Host it on your server and check if it works.
• Content filtering to display in the table of contents with Actions (possibly using ActionScript?)

I have 7 Captivate and would like to know if it is possible to filter some slides of OCD.

The point here is that they may not be static, but change the slides to show transparently based on the choice of the user.

== Example ==

You have a file containing below 3 slides captivate. (A, B, C)

And each slide content is needed for the subject in []. (I, II, III)

A [I, II AND III]

B [II, III]

C [I, III]

Lets say the user wants to know about the topic-II.

While the user should only see slides A and B.

If the user wants to know on the subject-I, then only slides A and C are shown in the table of contents.

== == End of example

In my view, that's not possible with only using Captivate and research to achieve anyway. (for example. Load the captivate through Flash and control the captivate Flash with AS3 file).

Thanks in advance for your help.

You have no control of this type on the default TOC THAT included with Captivate. You can have this control, if you create a custom table of contents and use advanced/variables actions. Advanced actions are converted on the duration of AS3 (for SWF) or JS (for HTML5). Since you talk about Flash, I assume you want SWF-output. I know a lot about system variables supplied, there may be some hidden variables that you can solve with AS3 or (better IMO) with JS, but only system variables for the table of contents is to lock or hide/show it (if in overlay).

• Where are the table of contents images stored?

Hello. I created an application with DPS on my Mac that I have to study.

I used some images for the table of contents chapters which stupidly I deleted but they are always visible when building/testing the application, I need to change the structure and the use of these same images. Is there a place I can find the images that I used for the table of contents?

When you preview your application on the desktop using LCA, the assets are registered in: ~/Library/Application Support/com.adobe.dmp.contentviewer/Local Store/FolioCache/YourAppName/ArticleName/StackResources/toc.png (or toc.jpg)
