DAQmx resource issues

Hello

I am using a cDAQ 9172 with the following modules:

9237 to measure the force

9205 to measure another similar in

9263 to produce an analog voltage

9472 to control some relays.

I started with a simple program to configure the channels and run but I get the message to one or more resources is in use.

Attached are two images. Is one of the main VI where I get the error. The second is the Subvi, which sets up the channels.

I only have access to one or more of the channels for single point reads/writes in the main loop.

Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

Thank you

Hi Jeff,

The cDAQ-9172 has only an engine timing by subsystem.  You try to use the 9237 and 9205 at the same time in separate tasks causing the mistake of booking.  The work around is to add the two sets of channels to the same task.  Thread just the output of the task of creation of channel in the entrance of the task on the other.  Read return data from both channels.  It seems that you do not want this, but you can always ignore data that you care to.

Case 6 this KB describes the problem.

I have a HAMEG HMS1000 Spectrum Analyzer and I want to communicate with him using NI VISA and SCPI commands.

First, I created a driver for my device with the information provided here: http://www.hameg.com/0.563.0.html. my device showed in under «NI-VISA USB Devices» device manager

The problem is when I run the application NEITHER MAX I can see my camera and communicate with them using 'PANEL TEST of VISA's ', but when I switch to labview, visa resource name does not display the name of my device.

I did something wrong? Help, please

You should always use the driver provided by the seller.

  • Resources - issue brief

so... Help clear this for me once and for all. I don't understand why there is the same reserve, limit, unlimited, and stock options RAM when you create a virtual machine. BONES of the VM (in my case w2k3) is unable to dynamically adjust the amount of memory... right? So I don't understand why they don't have just the amount of RAM you enter this machine comes out the pie, and that's it. Is there something that I am missing?

RParer and I give different parts of the image - so let go through piece by piece-

    1. Available memory - this is the amount of memory, the guest operating system will know that he has access to. This is what is indicated when you query the o/s comments on his memory.  Now if your virtual machine uses less memory then what was awarded - the vmkernel (the operating system of your ESX Server) will provide only access to memory by using the o/s comments - as the o/s comments uses memory more and more that the vmkernel will give access to this memory until available memory defined at the virtual machine

    2. Reservation of memory - this ensures guest o/s of the virtual computer will have a certain amount of memory when the virtual machine are fighting for memory - but if the virtual machine is not using its reserve may refer to other virtual machines.

    3. Memory - limit I really limit memory as a tool for you as an administrator to the memory - consumption cap I really use it when people build virtual machines with the available memory, the value at top - now that stop the virtual machine to access the memory of all the memory available to it - no, it's not.  The virtual machine starts by using the by swap file vmkernel VM - see overcommit below -.

Overcommitting memory is possible with ESX because of 3 things the vmkernel does for free memory

    1. Transparent Page Sharing - the vmkernel see the pages being stored by each VM and identifies these pages that are identical.  These pages are stored in the memory of COW (copy on write) - read pages only as long as the virtual machine is reading this page.  The minute that he will write to the page of a copy is made and writing made to the copy - so that you an ESX host that is running several virtual machines with the same or similar operating systems can save a ton of memory.

    2. The balloon pilot - it is installed in the virtual machine with VMware Tools.  This will allow the vmkernel influence the way in which the guest operating system uses its own virtual memory.  When the memory is unusual the vmkernel will be initimate causing ball player the vm swap memory on the disk, thus freeing up memory resources to the vmkernel to assign to other virtual machines

    3. the vm vmkernel swap file - if the vmkernel is out of memory, released as much memory as it can with the transparent page sharing and the balloon pilot and the vms system always require memory, it will use these spaces of Exchange by default on the same VMFS datastore than the VMware configuration file and swap the memory of VMs on the disk.  It is the memory of last resort and the execution of the will be significantly diminished.

So, with the data you provided what you see are two things - 1) when the virtual machine is at rest that it uses not the total memory available and 2) transparent Page sharing in action - and to answer your last question - the best of words instead of memory of pulling away is the vmkernel will only provide the memory using the VM's and Yes to change the available memory you will need to you restart the virtual machine.

  • DAQmx without NOR-MAX?

    Hey Gang,

I have developed a driver for the client using a PCI-6601 and DAQmx embedded application.  Now that we are in the deployment phase, the customer is shocked by the size of the NOT-MAX.  (a rudimentary facility is about 1.5 GB)  The only part of MAX that we use is to establish a connection between the PCI PnP and DAQmx resource name.

Has anyone written a utility to PnP without MAX branch?

    Thanks for all the ideas,

    Roger

Setup for DAQmx is a little big, but really not all that will be installed on the target system. However, I know a problem if you try to spread using a CD. Alternatively, you can ask end users to download on our Web site (www.ni.com.drivers), or you can host it on an internal network if your end-users are internal.

I just ran the installer DAQmx (including MAX) with all selected and checked the cost of disk. It was a little less than 500 MB. Remove everything except kernel driver, MAX and the support of the API (I chose the support of Visual C++ without examples or integration) and it came out to 300 MB. Use the disc button in the installer to see what will be your condition.

  • A control "VISA Resource Name.

In LabVIEW, there is a control "VISA Resource Name" which lists all the VISA resources, is automatically updated when devices are plugged or not plugged in and has a navigation feature.

With CVI, you can use NIDAQmx_NewDeviceCtrl () on a control of the chain, but it lists only the DAQmx resources.

There is another function that I can use to have all resources VISA listed?

    Hey Vix,

It seems to be the only solution. Here you will also find an example.

    I hope that helps!

    Bye,.

  • IBM ServeRAID M1015 in a Lenovo D20 4158

Is that what someone did never successfully install an IBM ServeRAID M1015 in a D20?

The reason why I ask is that I just tried and failed. I attached the SATA drives with SFF 8087 cable and installed the adapter in a x 16 slot. When starting, I can access the WebBIOS adapter and accesses the card from Windows 7 by using the management software. So far so good.

The problem is that the card itself does not recognize a single disc (I tried several different types/brands). Suspecting the interruption / resource issues I have disabled the Intel and Marvell card in the BIOS, updated the firmware M1015 etc... no luck.

-What did somebody ever successfully install a M1015 in a D20? If so, what is the trick?

Regarding the cutting of Marvell - we have three D20s in use. On each of them this adapter corrupt always any RAID sooner or later (Linux and Windows). Even after a replacement of the motherboard. As much as I love D20, the embedded RAID adapter is really a loss.

Thanks in advance for all tips!

    I finally solved the mystery. The problem was the cable. I had three brand new cables. It seems that each of them was defective. Waiting for me who? Right now I'm running a RAID5 that shows no problems so far and works well. It corresponds to current needs. Regarding the adapter Marvell, the problem wasn't that I let go of a volume. The problem was that the data has been corrupted for no apparent reason (State SMART drives all was okay etc.). Thus, so-called if a drive fails I think the adapter to degrade a volume to not corrupt. I had the same effects with three types of different discs from different manufacturers on this map. I disabled this card now that I had a fully functional replacement (and reliable so far) with the M1015. Just make sure that your cables are ok ;-}

  • Stepper motor control while reading encoder

    Hello

I'm looking to generater a pulse train to control a parallel reading and step by step motor in the impulses of the encoder of the motor. I was able to create two distinct VI who perform these taks individually, but when I put them into a single program (as shown below) is where I run on resource issues. I think I'll have problems affecting timers my properly and that's why I'm having these problems. I use a NI 9401 to generate impulses for the controller and a 9402 train OR read in the impulses of the encoder. If possible I would bring up just using the NI 9401 for the inputs and outputs if possible. The two are connected on a backplane cDAQ 9172 NU. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated on what I'm doing wrong.

Thanks for the suggestion of Carmen, but I was able to understand what it was with a little help from NEITHER. The finite number of pulses of timing function requires 2 counters, so when I tried to read in the encoder data there where no meter more left on the backplane. Changing impulses continuously solved my problem. I'll take a background of most recent basket with 4 meters from the lab which should allow me to run the finite number of pulses and read data from encoder at the same time.

    Thanks again,

    Doug

  • Distribution of the cDAQ

    Hi all

I got the update from an old soft of NOR-DAQ to NIDAQmx trad (thanks guys!) but I have a question about the distribution.

If I create a Setup program with only NOR-DAQmx run, it's already 300 MB but when I install it on a blank PC, hardware (chassis cDAQ-9184 ethernet) is not detected. NOR-MAX is not installed with this option.

If I install the driver NOR-DAQmx run with the help of configuration, of course NEITHER-MAX is installed and I can configure the material here and everything works, but it is 1 GB.

Is it possible to get the chassis Setup and its taken housing device supported directly from my sweet on the 1st round? In addition to this any other solution?

    Thank you

If you use MAX configurations, you must use the version of the runtime DAQmx with the help of the configuration.  It is possible to configure your tasks programmatically and channels without the use of MAX.  You must use DAQmx property nodes in your code to return a list of available devices, choose a program you want to use.  You must implement your tasks programmatically by using the correct DAQmx resource.

  • Totall for a PC virtualization

    Hi all

I'm just an ordinary PC user and I found many benefits using VMware workstation. However, I found it a bit frustrating to virtualize an operating system on another operating system due to resource issues. So is there any VMware product that virtualizes everything start upward? I know that at the level of the company, there are many products the vertilization but what about desktop users?

Welcome to the Forums - what you are referring are the difference between hypervisors hypervisors and hosted as workstation and VMware Server bare metal as ESX and ESXi - the closest thing to what you are looking for is probably the free ESXi product that will initialize the directory in the hypervisor - which still is an enterprise-class virtualization platform

  • Get the error about TNS from Oracle, hosted on a LINUX machine

    Hello

We moved our Solaris servers Linux databases. I run a multithreaded process that creates a db that are shared by the threads connection pool. On the passage to Linx db I get the below error message

[SERVERERROR] ORA-12520: TNS:listener could not find a Manager is available for the requested server type

My first port of call for resolve this error has been to check tnsnames.ora and TNS_ADMIN but they are very good and then I checked the db DB some threads connected and inserted data usually error occurred when dropping the connection thread control and one other thread picks up.

Later, I changed the configuration to run only a single thread, and then it works fine without any errors. I also tried the process running even with configured to create a thread during two different sessions and then a session had this error but continues.

Here is the generated sqlnet.log file

Can someone here help me to solve this error.

    Thank you
    Niraj Rouault

This could be a resource issue, check for the second error TNS-12564 on metalink, there is not a lot (but still useful) hits.

  • good resources DAQmx

Ive just started trying to play with a box daq for my current project. Ive been searching google to find good resources out of which continues, but most things seem to be quite lacking. specifically, I'm trying to use events and I had a push button to work the activation/deactivation of an indicator, but now im trying to read in the accelerometer data and which seems to be a bit more complicated.

all links to the good info on the use of the acquisition of data with events would be great.

    Thank you

    Hello

    You can share your code?

Have you searche the examples that come with LabVIEW? There is an example in the material of entry and exit-> DAQmx-> Analog Input-> voltage (events) - continuous Input.vi

    Good luck.

  • DAQmx, specify the resources occpaied

I use a function to get the status of digital DAQ card port. DAQmxErrChk (DAQmxReadDigitalU32 (Handle, 1, 10.0, DAQmx_Val_GroupByChannel, & SSR, 1, & read, NULL)); all of the code as follows: error = Init_DA_Brds (1, & BoardCode); DAQmxErrChk (DAQmxResetDevice ("DAQmxDev1")); DAQmxErrChk (DAQmxCreateTask ("", & handle)); DAQmxErrChk (DAQmxCreateDIChan (Handle, "Line6-port0/DAQmxDev1", "", DAQmx_Val_ChanForAllLines)); DAQmxErrChk (DAQmxReadDigitalU32 (Handle, 1, 10.0, DAQmx_Val_GroupByChannel, & SSR, 1, & read, NULL)); DAQmxErrChk (DAQmxClearTask (Handle)); However, some times I get error this DAQ resource has been occpaid. later if I try to reset in Max, also an error report, whatever i reset driver DAQ traditional according to the instruction. do anyone know of this problem? (I'm with CVI 7.1 + DAQmx 9.0.2) B.R Gerry

I found the reason.  put on another also read the digital line in order to have the flag.  It seems DAQmx does not support this one as well.  because my previous version was made by the traditional pilot, and I see no problem.

in any case, thanks for all the peoples attention!

  • Issue of custom resources AMPA

    [JDev 12.1.3, MAF 2.2.0 AMPA 12.1.3.2.32]

    http://www.Ateam-Oracle.com/a-team-mobile-persistence-Accelerator-release-12-1-3-2-now-available/

    Custom resources medium?

By the foregoing, I created a custom in the screen 'Details of the resource' resource entry Wizard.

But while the information I've entered seems to be correctly filled as a customMethod in

persistence - mapping.xml, there is no custom method generated in my service class

(according to my GiT, this file was not affected at all by the Wizard).

Has anyone other that saw issue or whether there is a work around?

    Thank you

    Paul Young

    Paul,

On the last page of the wizard, you can set generator options, one of them is a chedhkbox to regenerate the service class that is unchecked by default. Have you checked this box?

  • Issue of booking Resource Pool

We used vSphere for a long time and this is the first instance where we watched in the use of resource pools to manage cluster resources.  What we try to do is pool funds from several different material groups buy and then distributed in equal shares of resources between these groups, but allow others to expand beyond what their fair share guaranteed if the resources are not being used by other groups.  And if the other groups are starting to need these resources in return, we want vSphere to restore "ready" transparently resources without causing any VM power issues etc.

I'm pretty sure resource pools set reservations equal to assignment to a specific group is the way to go here.  If I understand correctly, resource pool bookings do not behave as the reserves of the VM, and even though I had to reserve 100% of cluster across pools resources collectively, a resource pool could grow beyond its reservation as long as there was no pretense.  When the contention starts, additional resources to a pool of resources will be taken away, but only to him guaranteed booking.

Is my understanding of this is all correct?  Am I sure can cause problems, or a better way to accomplish this task?  Thanks in advance.

It's the way I used to teach on reservations - think a restaurant which has 100 chairs - like the power of virtual machines on they have a number of chairs that they reserved - if the virtual machine needs more chairs he will get more chairs as long that other virtual machines do not use chairs they reserved - not what happens if all the chairs are reserved - the virtual machine will be not able to come into the restaurant (power on) even if there are empty chairs - if expandable restaurants reservations are activated a call is made to the room dining upstairs (the parent pool) to see if there are chairs available - this works in the same way for memory and cpu but memory has the ability to use the by vm vmkernel swap file and continue my analogy if all chairs are so reserved and a virtual machine appears they could sit on the patio, which can make the conversation (hard affect performance).

When a virtual machine is turned off (leave the restaurant) it will come out of his reserve make room for several virtual machines.
