DB25 Connector RS232

Hello

I hope that there could be someone who might have experience with this and can offer some advice.

I have a very old piece of equipment (Schaffner NSG 1003) here which I am hoping to write some LabVIEW drivers for.

I have the old manual of the piece of equipment here and it gives the stitching to the remote connector (RS232 25 Pin female)

PIN Signal

1 field

2                  RX

3                  Tx

4                  CTS

5 RTS (Pin 4 and 5 are shorted to each other)

6                  DTR

Land of signs 7

Field 8

18 + 12V

20 DSR (PIN 6, 8, and 20 are shorted to each other)

25 12V

I tried to make a few cables (null-modem, directly through etc.), but none has yet to work.

I have a cable that uses a DB25 connector on the end of the equipment and a standard DB9 connector on the end of the computer.

Does anyone have experience with this pinout and what pins are needed for a successful communication?

The manual also does not state if a stop character is necessary.

Assuming one is necessary, and I'm guessing it's a CR or LF.

If anyone has any experience with this machine, or ideas in general I would really appreciate their input.

Thank you

Patrick

Hi Wayne,

Thanks for the reply.

In the last few minutes, I had the connection works.

I set the rate in baud rate, data bits, parity and handshake etc. on the machine.

I then did a cable with the following pinout.

PIN (DB9)-> Pin (DB25)

2                  3

3                  2

5                  7

screen

Then I activated the stop in LV character to be a CR.

Thanks again,

Patrick

    Hai Experts

We created an application for the trial Board of horn using LabVIEW, almost our project is now finished the client gave us another task that the need to analyze the sample number through bar codes and write this number in the report... They give information about the type of scan that they use, I want just a vi for this sample. One test takes about 2 to 3 minutes...

    Hi Lisette,

If you read its technical specifications, Interfaces are keyboard, RS232, USB Interface.

So I think that you can directly get the scanned value as I mentioned.

When you buy it, you will get manual user, so there are barcodes for the various modes.

BUT when I googled on the scanner, I am manual, who says he has connector RS232, and you will need to send command to receive data from the scanner.

Please go through this link. And attachment. You can ask the dealer where you buy this scanner for confirmation on interface.

  • Watlow F4 Communication cable

    Hello

    I have a Watlow F4 controller for a room.

Anyone know what kind of cable should I use to control using labview.

There is a male RS232 on the controller. I prefer the interface RS232 to USB.

    NOR has male USB/RS232.

    Thank you!

Any USB serial adapter should work.

I had the best luck with the "Cables To Go" adapter that uses the prolific chipset in LabVIEW.

But beware there are adapters with the prolific chipsets counterfeit out there, so I do not recommend to buy the cheapest you can find.

Our Watlow F4 requires a null-modem cable and a connector RS232 25. If you look around you can find null modem 9 to 25 pin cables.

    Hello

To do any hardware with Windows, you must install the drivers from the manufacturer for this particular material.

HP tips for the installation of the printer etc., is to install the software drivers first, and then connect the printer.

But the Support drivers HP for your series machine seems to stop to XP:

  • can I use visa.vi to rs232 db25 port?

can I use visa.vi to rs232 db25 port? because where the use of rs232 to the parallel port (db25).

and also any vi to read the data of the series.

IM new in labview I just learn the tutorial to youtube.

If not can someone give me an idea how or can give me an example vi.

    TNX...

Your front panel can be... catchy (and frankly annoying), but your VI does not make much sense. If you want that your 'start' code when the user presses a façade 'Start' button, then you have to sit and wait for the user to press start, doesn't depend on the user to press Start before you run your VI.

    In addition, you have:

    • Wired the value that configures 'Port' at the entrance to "Activate the tank of termination" of the VISA. Why? You should know whether it should be enabled based on what you're trying to talk. The unit will stop his messages with a specific character? If so, a real thread of this entry and a value of thread at the end tank entry matches the value ASCII of the nature of the instrument used to put an end to his messages.
    • Wired a zero for the number of bytes Read VISA. Why? This means that you do not read anything by definition.
    • Do you need to wait a certain amount of time after sending the order before data are available?
    • Do you need to terminate the order that you send with something?
    • You currently have the set loop in place as an infinite loop. This means that the only way to stop your VI is using the button abandon in the toolbar. IT OF BAD. Provide a stop button on your façade to allow your VI finish properly.

See attached mod as a better starting point.

  • Send the signal current/voltage/USB DB25 to regulation of pump to

    Hi all!

I want to control the speed of a pump with LabVIEW (Thermo Fischer FH100M, Manual) and so I have to send a current or a voltage signal to the pump. The pump has only one DB25 port. As my laptop is not a port DB25, I tried to control it with a USB converter.

    I had only a converter USB to DB9, so I started with (laptop) USB-DB9-DB25 (pump) > >.

When I connect the pump on the USB port, it is instantly put in market, but in a strange way.

Is it possible to use this configuration? Or is it possible to use at least USB-> DB25 (I have the Setup, see manual page 45/3-19)? Then, I would order that the cable companies.

Or do you have other suggestions?

Thank you very much in advance!

    Tobi

    Tobi,

Stop it! Do not connect your converter to this device.

When you say "Converter USB to DB9" are you referring to a USB converter to RS - 232? DB9 is just a connector and therefore DB25. TOU can wire anything to this connector.  Your converter is probably wired as a serial RS-232 port.

The manual shows clearly on page 3-19 and the following pages that the control of the pump is NOT wired for RS - 232!  By looking at the speicifications for the inputs and outputs you shown on page 3-20 and 21 may damage the USB to RS-232 conveter or the controller of the pump by connecting them.

To control this device you will need to a DAQ with analog input, analog output, material inputs digital, digital, outputs a counter. You will also need some external circuits such as transistors or relay static solod DC in proportion.

  • RJ45 connection with BNC connector

Hello everyone. My weight gauge has an analog output 10V, and my DAQ has the same input value. But the problem is, that the weight gauge has a RJ45 output, and my DAQ has a BNC input connector. How can I connect and the pins of the RJ45. I downloaded an image from the project...

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Orlando.

I found your product on the Precisa website, and from there, you can download the manual.

    http://www.precisa.com/en/PR/GM/320XB/320-9410-004/index.html

According to the manual of the RJ45 using interface RS232 (page 12), like the previous post States. On page 54, you can see the features and pinout. As you can see, your weight should receive orders remotely and to be honest that I can't find the command that returns the weight. To me, it seems that you are only able to set parameters of the weight from a remote device.

No sense to connect a RS232 interface to an analog input. If you have a serial port on your computer, you can try to connect your weight to this port and use LabVIEW to communicate with him. This will require a "Female RJ45 DB9" - cable, which is also available for purchase from Precisa accessories, but I think it would be easier to just make one yourself for this end of the test.

Another option for you, will be to buy the "analog output, 350-8508" - accessory Precisa (page 56). If I understand it correct, this will display a weight-based analog output voltage, but you might want to clarify that with Precisa before buying.

    I hope this helps you.

  • Can LabVIEW control a device series (RS232) via a USB port on a Mac?

Using LabVIEW 6 and operation of G4 Mac OS 9, it was once possible to use a USB port for control and acquisition of data of a pH meter in our laboratory. Only, we used "Serial Port Init.vi" and wired to port #0, which referred to the USB port. We connected the connector DB9 to the pH meter to the Mac's USB port via a USB-to-DB9 adapter. LabVIEW 6 could then send commands to the pH meter and acquire pH values of him using the serial port, reading and writing icons. I try to do the same thing now using LabVIEW 8.6 on a Mac Pro OS 10.5.6 and leads nowhere. The simplicity of LabVIEW 6 is long gone, and it seems to be necessary to use VISA icons. When I write the vi using the icons series VISA, three potential serial ports appear to be available. However, the vi gives an error message, except when I choose a specific of these, ASRL2::INSTR, under the name of the resource, in which case the vi runs, but there is no communication with the pH meter. I can't understand what physical connector on the chassis Mac corresponds to ASRL2::INSTR, but it is does not seem to be the USB key. I tried to write the vi using the icons of VISA USB of LabVIEW, but which requires knowledge of USB communication protocols which is beyond the expertise of this chemist. So, I'm almost at a loss what to try next. I could buy a serial RS232 card to install in a PCI Express slot in the Mac, hoping that he will be recognized and can be resolved by using the icons series VISA. However, as it was once trivial to perform this task of communication via the Mac's USB port, it seems that it should not be necessary to buy another card. LabVIEW continues to become more and more complicated, and if she doesn't get any more improved, it may not work at all. I've been programming LabVIEW on Mac for almost ten years and she became gradually more frustrating. In any case, is - anyone out there fought USB / communication series battle on a new Mac and won? If now it is impossible, no matter which allowed to pass through a RS232 serial installed in a Mac Pro card? Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.

    Ken1,

I don't have a chance to see the USB-serial last night.  I'll make a note to try it again tonight.

Dennis is right.  You need to focus on the determination of what works or not in communications.  Look at the system information (Apple menu > about this Mac > more info...).  Then select the USB item in the list of the contents of the left column.  See if USB devices to look like they could be serial port emulators.  I don't remember exactly what they are called.  If the device doesn't appear like USB Raw, it probably means that no driver has been installed.  You can unplug the unit and see what are the changes.  This will tell you if the operating system sees the device.

  • How to send data to a usb RS232 port 6009?

    Hello world

The converter that I intend to order has a RS232 port (terminals 71 and 72 according to the schema; RXD and TXD) and the use of this I can set and read parameters and control commands. I want to use the DAQ USB 6009 therefor. The format of data will take place as follows: -.

    A logical bit - 0 start

    Eight data bits

    A stop bit - 1 logic

There are only 3 acceptable speeds which are 300, 600 and 1200, because the converter is very old.

This makes my head completely, because I can't imagine a solution. Is it possible for the acquisition of data USB 6009 card?

    Any help will be appreciated

    Kind regards

    Sandeep

If you want to control the converter RS232 commands, you must use a RS232 device. If your PC is not a COM port (free), you can use a good USB2RS232 converter market. The driver accompanying will provide a COM port for the OS and with the driver NI-VISA you can use in LabVIEW. Perhaps it is a LV-driver for the controller, just check the network OR Web driver.

Will need you a cable custom at least three sons of the COM port (usually a DB9 connector) to the converter. GND (DB) - PIN5 at 55, PIN 2 to 71, PIN 3 to 72 (maybe you need to Exchange 71 and 72, if you can't get a connection, more details should be in the converter manual).

You can start with hyperterminal for a first check, or use the RS232 interface - simple to write and read vi found in the examples of LabVIEW-help-find (don't forget the stop here character ;-)

  • Problem with smart connector

    Hi all

I use my iPad Pro for a while now with the smart connector. Today, however, I noticed that the Smart keyboard did not respond to my entry and I kept getting the error message "This accessory is not supported by this device."

When took a glance t the smart connector on my iPad I noticed some discoloration, almost as if it was burned. Can someone please help me understand how or why this might have happened? He never fell into the water or something else besides.

Ill put a picture below. Thanks in advance.

Hello. When electrical contacts carry the current, they may collect certain chemicals from the atmosphere. This does not mean that your air is bad, it happens everywhere. Try to clean the contacts gently. Be sure to check each on the keyboard too.

  • How to disable smart connector on iPad Pro?

I have an iPad with smart Keyboard Pro 12.9. I would use the smart keyboard without the keyboard. In the past, I simply covered the smart connector with tape. Is it possible to disable the keyboard or the smart connector so that I could use the cover without keyboard is still active?

No, there is no setting or control access to the smart connector.  It connects automatically whenever it is in contact with a compatible device.

    Hello

To get the advice of a large sample of existing users of each product, you could more usefully read ratings on Amazon.com and reviews of products.

If your questions are not answered there, you can also post a question of your choice.

  • Fluid was detected in the connector of the lightning.

I get a warning when my iPhone is plugged into its lighting cable saying 'Disconnect accessory lightning' "Liquid has been detected in the connector of the lightning" ' to protect your iPhone, unplug this accessory of lightning, and allow the connector to dry. "

The cable is as dry as a BONE, the phone has never been exposed to water, other than standard moisture. I have several cables, and it happens with all of them.

    Clues?

    Thank you.

Try a forced reboot. Hold down the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons at the same time for about 15 seconds, until the Apple logo appears. You won't lose anything.

If the steps above do not help, you may need to test in an Apple store.

  • SOGo connector for Thunderbird

    Hi all

First of all, I hope that this question was not asked again; I'm sorry if this is the case.

In fact, after Zindus reached its end of life a year ago, I'm looking for a new way to sync my contacts, managed by Zimbra with Thunderbird.
In this context, I would like to know what the community Thunderbird SOGo connector for TB (http://www.sogo.nu/fr/downloads/frontends.html). In particular, why is this add-on not installable via interface of Thunderbird?

Thank you very much in advance for your help,.

    See you soon,.

Safety is always a difficult question to answer. Certainly the stuff to Add - ons.mozilla.org (AMO) go through a process of code by the moderators control it. But source code is everywhere and the review is effective to the person conducting the review the day. SOGO is an established project open source, so if security is really something to worry about, you can always hire someone to browse the source code. That's what AMO. On a personal note I don't have a lot of concerns about the safety of SOGO simply because it is open source, the code can be examined and it would be a brave project hat would mess in their own nest with malware etc in their package.

However, the connector is only a part of the package of SoGo, a tool to connect to their server of groupware software. A live demo which can be accessed here http://www.sogo.nu/tour/online_demo.html the fact, that it can be used for other things is really just a bonus for the community as a by-product of them use standards based protocols.

On a practical level several antivirus editors insert anti-solutions modules Thunderbird when you install packages. Here's what your informal appeal as well (they are not on AMO). Given that many of them intercept and decode encrypted SSL communications, I'd be more concerned that they have a backdoor to three letter agencies and I would be on the sogo connector. My trust in the internet privacy died a long time ago! but I still trust free unless there is some reason not, simply because the source code is available.
