Deactivation of "find-as-you-type".

I love Firefox and I'd even be OK with "find-as-you-type" normally, but here's what happens: it is the succession of letters as I type, but it cuts research as soon as it finds it-when I didn't get what I wanted to type.

For example, this site: http://www.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/asiapcf/06/14/kyrgyz.violence/index.html?hpt=Sbin. Say I wanted to see if the word was "strategically" on the site. You press Ctrl-F, then start typing the s & t - and he interrupted me and found the "er" in Kyrgyzstan. But you could not keep typing r-a-t-e-g-... because it interrupts the research. Of course, you can press return and find all other instances of s & t, but it's not useful stuff! Apparently, you have to type your ridiculously fast Word. Or, if you were interrupted, drag your mouse on and continue typing quickly in the Find bar again.

Anyway, how can I disable this? All I want is to be able to type the complete succession of letters interested before he finds it. If I don't need to type "strategically" to find the word, but I want to at least be able to type 'stratum -' without having to enter at a rate of 150-words-per-minute. Thank you!

You describe certainly not normal behavior of the search bar, which is to stay focused all the time that you type in this document, with the matches being updated and scrolls on the fly while you type.

See if the behavior still occurs in own Firefox Safe mode, otherwise you will have to find the guilty extension causing the problem by disabling half of them the tools-> Add-ons "Add-ons" and then restart Firefox to see if the problem is always the case, and continue half/reboot/tests until you found.

Hello chilli.willi, try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily disables hardware acceleration, restores some settings and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).

If Firefox is open, you can restart Firefox Safe mode in the Help menu:

    • Click the menu button

      click Help

then select restart with disabled modules.

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "start mode safe."

If the problem is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps described in the section Troubleshooting extensions, themes and problems of hardware acceleration to resolve common Firefox problems to find the cause.

To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before you open Firefox for normal use again.

When find you what is causing your problems, please let us know. This might help others with the same problem.

  • How can I remove the selection of search engines to the search bar as you type?

Since the last update when I type in the search field, all the possible search engines are visible, and it's very confusing use now. It is also a double feature as I see that the selection of search engine is still available next to the search icon.

Is there a way to disable the display of all the search engines available in the results 'search as you type "?

    Running Ubuntu.

Please, do not react with an antibot question or answer, the only goal, is that I see if it's possible or not until you switch to another browser. Seems more recent updates to firefox are based mainly on the subjective views of individuals rather than on the wishes of the user. Such a shame for that one good browser.

Best regards and thanks in advance.

You can find research tab to change search engines in Options/preferences between the tabs and content in the current version.

If you want to restore the window previously used independently to manage search engines, you can enable or disable this pref to false with a middle-click on the topic: config page.

    • topic: config page: browser.search.showOneOffButtons = false

You will need to close and restart Firefox to make it work properly.

You can open the topic: config page via the address bar.
You can accept the warning and click on "I'll be careful" to continue.

  • Cannot disable "search text when you type".

Yesterday I rekindled my settings of Firefox failing to solve a problem of gel. Since then, every time I start typing in a framework, I start to get boring text suggestions. In accessibility options, I disabled 'Find the text when you type' but it makes no difference. I studied the problem and tried on a solution - opening and closing of the downloads dialog box - that has not worked.

It has worked before. Now, why not?

Thank you! Turn off, that did the trick. There might be a few sites where I would like to AS form filling, but I can't live without him to avoid the aggravation on a particular site.

    • You can open the mode without failure of Firefox 4.0 + by pressing the SHIFT key when you use the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.

If it's good in Firefox Safe mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to understand that one.

  • Revolve 810 G1 keyboard characters when you type

    Hi all

Just got a new HP turn 810 G1 tablet / laptop (12 GB memory 256 GB SDD). Otherwise, things are smooth, but it is extremely annoying problem of keyboard abandonment / jump / lose some of the characters when entering. It is not random, specific keys or combos. So far in this post, he jumped about 10 characters. It does not require typing fast, even in the start menu Win 8, when you search for an app and then hit enter to start the application, it could not react on the press of entry. It is just an example, letters are missing from any where as I type. I type pretty fast and know I'm hitting the right keys. Disable the touchpad does not help, it's not that I would accidentally touch it as you type.

Nothing doesn't I could do thorough tests (including memory) HW run, tests the user added 8 GB SODIMM removed, SIM card removed, removed battery (switch required), full restoration of BONE made a couple of times (END / ENG locations), HP Support Assistant Windows Update patches applied, another keyboard + touchpad drivers of the repository product drivers downloaded and installed, the settings keyboard and touch twisted and applied a pious hope of heap.

  • Problems with the cursor when you type

I don't know if it's something in Vista, but I have terrible problems in Word and when typing emails. I can touch type and normal type without looking at the screen. However, I find when I look at the screen, the cursor inexplicably himself stuck about4-6 rear lines and hit the last piece in the middle of the existing text. In fact it just happened again - when I type ing he climbed to the title: why!

I feel responsible because I don't get it in the older microsoft software that I use at work and it has never done in internet cafes - didn't have it a few months, but it drives me crazy: why it does this?

    Hello

    Laptop?

Check with the manufacturer of system support, documentation in line, or forums as there
probably are shortcut keys that enable and disable the touchpad functions.

Parameters for TouchPad located in the control panel - mouse (there may be several tabs with)
Entries of TouchPad) and some have a utility that loads in the Notification area near clock on
at the bottom right. There "may" be the sensitivity settings.

    ==========================================

If necessary: (make sure that you have restarted at least once, if the above did not work) try to update
    the driver for the TouchPad.

Panel of configuration-Device Manager - mice and pointing devices - Double click on touch pad
-Pilot Tab - click on Update Driver (which is may not make anything like MS is far behind certifying)
(drivers), now right CLICK on the touchpad and UNINSTALL.

Then go to the USB and UNINSTALL ALL controllers except the category itself (all in).
    RESET

This will refresh the driver for the TouchPad and battery USB. This does not prevent the touchpad
    of work.

The similar procedure on XP, Windows 7 and Vista is the same, except that we need to clear
the device if it is present.
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310575

Then go to the system manufacturer's website and get the latest touchpad drivers.

Download - SAVE - go to where you put it-click on - RUN AS ADMIN.

This utility also allows to control the TouchPad:

I hate windows 7 he steals what you type and live really striking. I spent a lot of time writing this has it's here to help u away.can

    Hi Darla

As a temporary solution, you can always use the universal "Undo" shortcut is Ctrl + Z. As soon as you see the text disappears, you can press this time of mutiple shortened to go back a few steps.

You can also use the shortcut 'Redo', Ctrl + Y, if you go too far with cancellations.

If you use a laptop, one of the most frequent causes of the text that disappears, the cursor jumping around to change the line where you type, etc., is a problem with the Touchpad.

You can disable the Touchpad while you type to see if that solves the problem. Here are links to the most popular brands of laptops with information on disabling the touchpad.

Yes.  I find it easier to type text, and then use the move tool (shortcut V) (looks like an arrow) to place it where you want.

To bring up the character and paragraph panels go to WINDOW > CHARACTER or WINDOW > PARAGRAPH.
