Deactivation of the tricks in Windows 8.1

Hello

I have a new HP' Pavilion TS 14 Sleekbook. "He came with Windows 8, I upgraded to 8.1 Windows.

I'm not familiar with Windows 8.1 and have a small problem that I have a big problem.  The problem is that a "window of advanced,' for lack of a better term, remains permanently on the left side of the screen.  It is approximately 2.5 "high and 2" wide and occupies the left middle of my screen.

This poses a problem when I need to see the entire screen.  It would be nice to see the tip for several seconds, if that is an option, but I really need to close at least temporarily.

How to disable the advanced temporarily or permanently?

Thanks, Terry

You can take a picture of what you describe and post here in your thread?

Is the 'window' in the start screen or the Office?

If you are referring to the contextual help tips... Here is a link to a tutorial on How to disable. I do not recommend to use the registry downloads the tutorial a. use the method instead of group policy. It is much safer.

How can I disable the advertisements that appear on the side of the screen while in windows live hotmail?

You can not delete, exactly, as you reclaim this space.  But you can block the ads themselves.  It will take just as much space on the screen, just the rectangles will be empty or display error messages.

Google will lead you to several different hacks you can do to achieve this if that's what you want to do.

  • How to upgrade the BIOS executes Windows 10

My second battery (keyboard) has loaded only rarely. Most of the time, even after the days with the computer plugged in, only the battery of the Tablet has been charged. Since October Toshioba service station did not work properly, so I could not update my bios. I now changed for Windows 10 just to see if it would do the trick. I could install all the drivers, but not the BIOS updated. I tried to install them manually, but when I do so in that compatibility mode Windows 8, the system tells me that the "file could not be saved" immediately after having unpacked the software. Clues?

  • Start the recovery in Windows 8 disc

I have an interesting problem on my computer, where it will start, crash, then start correctly. I don't know what is the cause (I turned on legacy for awhile but restore default values). I tried to do a windows reset already and it did not work, but I think a full factory reset should do the trick. I burned the recovery disks, but does not know how to use them. In windows 8 advanced restart, I tried the option to boot from usb because my dvd drive is external and it does not work. Anyone know how to start using the recovery disk? (the model is a craving for 4)

EDIT: I managed to get started with them by turning off secure startup and by changing the boot order to boot from the drive optical usb from the menu of the bios for anyone who has the same problem.

For anyone who has trouble finding how to start off usb/external drives with windows 8 and a ultrabook: in the menu of charms, click Settings-> laptop-> general settings and scroll to the bottom of the page. Here, there is an option to restart the computer in advanced mode. Click on restart. Now click Start with the device, and click the device that you want to start.

If this does not work, try disabling startup secure in the efi settings. To access these settings, either click on settings-> uefi advance settings in the same menu as one that contained the ability to boot from an external drive (reboot of the art).

If your hard drive won't start at all in the window, you should be able to start with the recovery cd by pressing f9, several times after pressing power (several times because the screen options goes so fast). This will open the options of uefi to start on another device.

I zipped and attached a tool which should put the windows icon 10 get on the taskbar of your PC.

To run it, unzip the file and right-click on the file and select run as administrator.

After reading the disclaimer notice, run the first menu item to confirm your PC has the required updates.

Then run the second menu item, and it is the one that did the trick for me.

Then simply click on the GET W10 icon to get a software booking W10.

I have a P6772sc Office and I am running Windows 7. I'm not so known so I hope I'm asking the right questions. I bought a WD Green drive 4 TB, but my system on recognizes it as 1.8 to. I've added like TPG and I understand that this would do the trick? I understand the search on the net I need to assign my UEFI bios but I have absolutely no idea how to do that and I don't see any option in the configuration. I installed the latest driver for HP bios.

I hope someone can help with this?

    Best regards, Lars

This is the original factory specifications for your desktop HP Pavilion p6772sc. Based on these specifications, this model uses a 'legacy' BIOS and does not support UEFI. In addition, there is not available for this model UEFI BIOS, and HP is not intend to make available the UEFI on this model.

This player may not contain the operating system or be used to start the computer, and can only be used as a data reader.

The BIOS may not recognize the total size of the hard drive, but it is possible that Windows 7 May. You probably need to update the driver Intel SATA/RAID the most recent version available for the Intel H57 Express Chipset. You need to go you restart the system at least once and perhaps several times still. You will have to perhaps initialize and partition the hard drive in windows 'Disk Management Console.

  • Passwords and fingerprint reader during the upgrade of Windows 10

I bought my laptop, his RESUME, and it came with a fingerprint reader so that I would not type my password every time I need to connect. Now, I like this feature, and as someone who can't remember passwords unless you have to use every day and auto fill is not an option. Now I don't have add a password for my laptop and I remember to change once before but I forgot a new and the trick is no help whatsoever. I want to upgrade to Windows 10 now I don't know if the finger print scanner will still work as my password or if the sick have to implement again and if I still need the password. Help, please.

Your problem is common for people using a fingerprint reader. Here's what you should do to put the machine on a secure basis:

    1. Logging in as an administrator account.
    2. Click the start planet.
    3. Type cmd.exe in the search box.
    4. Press Ctrl + Shift + Enter
    5. Click on "Run as Administrator".
    6. Type the following commands and press ENTER after each:
      NET user "user %%nom" 123456
(to set your password to 123456)
Abcdef spare NET user / add
(to create an account to spare with a password to abcdef)
net localgroup administratore Spare / add
(promote spare account to admin status)
    7. Open a session under the alternative account to test it.
    8. Details of these two accounts on paper of the document.

The alternative account is necessary as the spare for your home key is necessary. If you don't have a spare account, what will you do if something goes wrong with your main account? You'd be in diabolical trouble!

  • The 32-bit Windows 7 to windows 7 64 bit upgrade?

I bought the upgrade disc to switch from windows XP to windows 7 and I had to use the 32 bit until I upgraded my computer. I (32 and 64-bit) disk to upgrade to windows 7. Can I do a custom install and reload the 64-bit windows 7? The upgrade disc won't work? I've saved my files to an external hard drive.

Yes, it should work. You may need to activate by phone after the upgrade. Ranging from a 32-bit OS for a 64 bit OS requires that you choose 'custom' own installation option. This means that your applications will have to be resettled. As you mentioned that you have already saved your data files.

  • Digitizer does not, after the update to windows 8

    Hello

I bought myself a x 201 tablet a few months back, because I thought it would be great for taking notes during my studies. And I was right

But after I upgraded my windows 7 to windows 8 when it was released last Friday, my scanner will not work correctly. It seems that the stylus is not really recognised as a pen. There is no pressure at all sensitivity, and clear with the back of it does not work either. It seems the wacom drivers aren't there.

I tried to download various drivers for it and set up of the digitizer, but nothing seems to do the trick.

Hope someone can help me, because I really need to be able to take digital notes soon.

Back to the page of Wacom and download the scanner driver:

    Select tabletpc and win 7.

  • How to start the program before windows 7 user logon

I already know how to start a program when a user logs on to Windows 7. * (Not easy to find, but once you know the trick, it's simple as pie: place a shortcut in C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup). So don't answer that. I already know that.

    But my question is this:

How can I get the same program to launch * before * the users logon? I want the program start when Windows restarts.

This program does not require the user's privileges - does not open the files, etc., except access to (of course) its location in C:\Program Files (x 86) / folder.

(What, you may ask? I would like to launch a program of Wake-on-LAN to send a "magic packet" to a computer on the local subnet to sleep. Asleep computer happens to host some of the shared data).

If you want to start until the user opens a session, you will have to start as a service.

This is the boot sequence for the main registry keys, starting immediately after reading bootmgr and ending with the program shortcut entries in the two startup folders.

1 HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\BootExecute. This may include instructions to schedule chkdsk runs, but not the user programs.

2 services start ensuites, followed by the keys of registry RunServicesOnce and RunServices (if present)

    3. the user then connects to the system

4 HKLM Winlogon, Userinit. This indicates that the program C:\WINDOWS\system32\userinit.exe, and the entry ends with a comma. Other programs can be started from this key by adding and separated by a comma.

    5 HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Shell. This must contain an entry, explorer.exe.

    6. program entered into these key 2 registry for all USERS start following:

    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run and \RunOnce

    7. program entered into these 2 registry for the CURRENT USER key start following:

    HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run and \RunOnce

    8. programs in startup of all records users and current user are started last of all.

Important as antivirus and firewall programs begin early in the sequence as Services. The icons that appear in the Notification area (at the bottom right of the screen) is just their user interfaces, i.e. options and preferences.

The additional location of 32-bit applications on a 64-bit computer is HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node and HKCU.

  • Work around the compatibility check during the installation of Windows 7

    Hello

I have a HTC Shift UMPC and I try to install a version of windows 7 ultimate that I just bought, the problem is that the HTC Shift that I use has a faulty Power Board and think it's about the power of the battery even when it is plugged into a power outlet and the windows installer will not continue when you use the battery power.

Is it possible to skip this section of the installer and just install windows 7?

The device has been disconnected and get the repaired Board will cost almost as much as the copy of windows, I bought for her so I prefer not to go there.

    Thank you

    Adam

If you are upgrading Vista checking your device drivers, if there is a driver for battery power management hell there. Check the BIOS for an activation/deactivation of battery power management.

  • Disabled Internet access after you apply the updates of Windows

After you have installed the latest Windows updates, I lose all connection to the Internet. I can still see my network, but not do anything on the internet.

I spent an hour yesterday on the phone with my ISP check it was their system, not a hardware problem with my modem or router.  I spend another 1/2 hour on the phone with Dell technical support.

It turns out the issue was my DNS has been altered, and the only way to recover was to perform a restore of the system for 8/16.  Everything was going well after that... until Windows Update automatically ran last night, install the last two so-called critical updates. I don't know what is causing the problem, but my DNS was wiped out again, and I had again back 8/16 recovery point.

I disabled Windows Update for the moment because I don't know how else to solve the problem; in the absence of any change to my system, I suspect it's updates are something to my DNS. Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a better solution or another way to solve the issue that doesn't require me avoid all Windows updates in the foreseeable future? Is there a way to know if/when a later critical update solves the problem created by these?

The cause has now been identified as McAfee updates and no Windows updates - they were both released at the same time.  If one of your PCs have McAfee so that they might be confusing your test results.

See the communication from this "criticism" - McAfee

Some customers may experience a loss of network connectivity and/or errors in McAfee Security Center after a recent update

You should make the fix McAfee, if necessary.  The McAfee link applies to consumer products but there are corresponding communications for businesses - see, for example,.

Corporate KnowledgeBase - DAT-6807/6808 causing problems with VSE 8.8.x

I have McAfee, but the connection has started working again on its own so I thought I was clear of problems. However, when I checked it says he was doing routine checks the updates in vain when I told it to do a manually. So stick with McAfee you don't follow their procedure of fix would have upgraded my PC at risk by not updated and, as ads from McAfee have said since then, the application did not refer to his database of threats correctly [so, eventually, the variation in the degree of severity in the user experience]. Actually, I removed McAfee then installed Microsoft Security Essentials rather & my answer IE is faster I knew it [even though I had the Add-ons McAfee disabled for centuries].

I had to run the McAfee Development removal a few times before and it caused a problem with the license if the PC was not connected to the internet during the abduction. Due cat of McAfee support reset their files in order to allow the relocation-reactivation. Here is their link cat - McAfee - media contains the link to the cat

    - - - - - - - - - - - - -

If you do not have McAfee then Windows update that kb2705219 could be another cause that uninstalling that appeared to solve the problem for some users.  But, personally, I think they could only reached a temporary fix [I thought my PC was OK at the time, but it turns out does not do the trick, as explained above] to uninstall an update - panel, programs & features, [left side of the window] see installed updates. Wait until the system has finished the research for the list of updates. Select update required, then right click and Uninstall.

  • After the upgrade to Windows 7 wireless problem

    Hello

I just upgraded my G70-460US to Windows 7 and everything was going smoothly until I realized that the integrated wireless LAN does not connect to my router. Whenever I try to connect, I get the message "Windows could not connect to . It's weird because everything works fine; Device Manager shows no problems, works of LAN cable, I can turn the WLAN with the button next to the power, I can see the list of available networks and so on. What is even more strange is that my router is currently without WPA or WEP, and again, I get the same message "Windows was unable to...» ».

    So far I have tried:

-Uninstall the driver for Atheros AR5009, reboot, and reinstall

-Support of Windows Update to get the latest drivers

-Check if my router (Microsoft MN - 700) is supported by Windows 7, which it does not match the Microsoft Win 7 Compatibility Center

-Check if my router is not broken (can connect wireless to my other computer so it is not broken)

-Reset the router to the factory settings

-Affecting the security of WPA - PSK, WEP network and secure (message all went the same "Windows was unable to...") »)

    -Uninstall HP Wireless Assistant

It is an upgrade from Vista Home Premium to 7 Home Premium via the disks to upgrade HP G70-460US. I think there is a problem with the autoconfiguration WLAN service, but I'm not expert enough to dig in. All advice is appreciated.

    Thank you

Wow, amazing... this topic saved my day. The new driver to the link did the trick.

I don't know why HP is not register this driver on their G70-460US page. The disc 'Upgrade HP Manager' provided with the Windows 7 upgrade disk should have updated all the drivers, but that doesn't seem to be for my case.

In any case, thanks to ken2010 and Daniel_Potyrala.
