Default configuration updates/changes...hang

Hello

I come here with a difficult problem... I have a Probook s 4740. It comes preinstalled with Windows 8 and HP security tools. Recently, I decided to upgrade to 8.1 Windows and for that I had to uninstall HP security tools. I did the uninstall and update of Windows. After a day of using the computer hang. I have updated using HP recovery. As the version of the OS was old he himself day after a day or two. The update went well. After starting windows the next day he started the configuration of updates. Something went wrong and it failed with: "Failure of windows configuration updates from reinstatement of changes". She suspended and never finished. I've refreshed believe once again that it does not refresh correctly. All of this happens again. After updating once again, then whole reinstallation of windows, the problem persists. At this point, I updated the computer 4 times and reinstalled Windows 1 hour. I tried to disable all the services non-windows and update according to the guidelines of this forum: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-Systems-and-Software/Failure-configuring-Windows-upd, but it did not work. It failed with: "default configuration changes in windows. Changes in return ".

What should I do? My laptop is still under warranty of extednded. Can I make a soft/hard reset or take my computer of sevice? I hope I can solve this on my own as being without my cell phone would be very inconvinient. Other solutions? If you need further information please tell.

HP Probook 4740 s

Product number: H5K32EA #BED

OS: Windows 8 pro 64-bit

Best regards, Tony.

Use the HP recovery media to access the Microsoftsystem to restore and then choose a restore point dated before the update of events that caused the stroke.

Note the number of the update and make sure that you leave not only one install new. You can do that by changing the update of Windows settings from install automatically to informez me update availability, but let me decide to download and install updates.

    Hello

    Welcome to the Microsoft community.

I understand that you are unable to install the Windows updates and receive an error message.

  • Default configuration restoration changes Windows updates do not turn off the computer

Step 1 of the 'solution' to this error reads:

Drag from the upper right of the screen (or if you use a mouse, move the mouse to the upper right of the screen) and then tap or click settings.

It is impossible to do this step 1 because my computer never stops display failure message to offer a mouse or interactivity, whether... it is in an infinite loop of failure with no way to stop.  Same way as fail-safe after power reset does not work.  There is nothing I can do at all.

You will then need to repair your computer using a recovery disc or installation media.

Boot from the media(Instructions are here)

and then select repair your computer in the first screen that says install now:

    Then follow option 7:

    http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/4935-startup-options-menu-boot-Windows-8-a.html

Then troubleshoot > open command prompt, and then type the following:

    Dism /Image:C:\ /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

  • Update Windows Installer KB3002885 (and later KB3000061) causes "Failure Configuring Windows Updates, changes of restoration"

I manually ran Windows Update for about 22 updates including KB3002885 (KB3000061 is not included at this time).  It resulted in "Failure Configuring Windows Updates, changes of recovery".

    Measures taken (without the fix):

    -Reboot

-Restart in Boot Clean with Services MS no disabled state

    -Updated Troubleshotter

    -System Restore (3 weeks)

Updates at this point (November 14, 2014) identified KB3000061.  When update was executed for this update by itself it also caused the problem of the "default configuration... '. ».

Updates about 22 that have been installed successfully some of them were: KB3000853, KB3004150, KB3003057, KB2978121 and KB2972101.  A more complete list is available if it is useful.

  • Default configuration of the windows features. Restoration of the changes. Do not turn off your computer... HEEELLLPP!

After restart my Asus X55oE due to necessary updates, I got «default configure features windows.» Restoration of the changes. Do not turn off your computer. After reading several messages through other forums, I turned it and then turn again only to receive the same screen. Some of these forums say that it can take 2 hours or more because of so many updates made at the same time. I think I was trying to upgrade windows 8 for windows 8.1.

I'm really worried about it just because I just got back this PC from ASUS and am needing to work. Can someone tell me if there are other options or make sure that it just take a while? I also read that you can actually go to the control panel > windows update > help to erase mistakes. Also, someone said that you can customize the number of updates at a time can be both. I certainly do not happen again. Help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

    Hello

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I understand you have questions while, Windows 8.1 in the computer installation.  We are happy to help you in the matter of fixing.

You can try to follow these suggestions mentioned in the Microsoft article below to solve the problem with the installation of Windows 8.1 because Windows 8.1 is also an update for Windows 8 and these suggestions would help you with the same.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/949358/en-us

Important: When you use system restore to restore the computer to a previous state, the programs and updates that you have installed are removed.

If this does not help then, try to disable anti-virus and see if that helps.

    Disable the anti-virus software

(Also applies to Windows 8 and 8.1 of widows)

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/disable-antivirus-software#1TC=Windows-7
