Update Windows Installer KB3002885 (and later KB3000061) causes "Failure Configuring Windows Updates, changes of restoration"

I manually ran Windows Update for about 22 updates including KB3002885 (KB3000061 is not included at this time).  It resulted in "Failure Configuring Windows Updates, changes of recovery".

Measures taken (without the fix):

-Reboot

-Restart in Boot Clean with Services MS no disabled state

-Updated Troubleshotter

-System Restore (3 weeks)

-DISM.exe / Online/Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

I started installing updates a little at a time and was able to install all the updates about 22 except KB3002885, which always causes the problem 'failure configuration... '. ».

Updates at this point (November 14, 2014) identified KB3000061.  When update was executed for this update by itself it also caused the problem of the "default configuration... '. ».

Updates about 22 that have been installed successfully some of them were: KB3000853, KB3004150, KB3003057, KB2978121 and KB2972101.  A more complete list is available if it is useful.

Windows 8 Pro 64 bit w / Media Center

THAT IS TO SAY 10.0.9200.17148

Worm update: 10.0.22

Perhaps relevant: I could never update this computer Windows 8.1 in 5 or 6 attempts over a period of 6 months.  Always comes back to the previously installed Windows 8.

Otherwise, my computer works without other unusual problems.

  • I'm getting 'Failure Configuring Windows Updates, changes of restoration' by updating windows.

It was the first time that I am trying to update my laptop of Lenovo G500s which is come with 8 windows pre installed, before installing the updates, I have restored the laptop if you default factory using Lenovo a recovery key. While the updates are being installed I received a message 'Fail configuration Windows updates reverting changes'. It lasted for an hour. When I tried to install updates again the same message appeared. My laptop came pre-installed with Nitro Pdf 8 and Mcafee Internet Security, so I have even uninstalled them, I also ran Mcafee Consumer Product Removal Tool. But the problem with windows update remained. I then ran the convenience store update Windows that sets these two problems:

fix windows update fixed the database and repair misconfigured update windows components, but this solves nothing. Later I discovered that although the resolution of update problems show that the problems have been solved but convenience store running immediately shows again the same problems.

So this time I ran again the recovery system, and immediately after the system recovery windows update of convenience store that showed the problems mentioned above two updates of windows.

Is it so that means the recovery partition itself contains other problems that my problem would have been solved, what do I do to fix this?

  • Updates to Windows 8 - "Configuration of the Windows updates, changes in restoration failure"

    Hello

Recently I finally got my laptop back from repairs after 6 weeks. Now, it is in a 'clean' State (aka factory settins).

I wanted to get to 8.1 Windows as soon as possible, but for this I need to be on the latest version of Windows 8.

So I then try to run "Windows Update" and let it install all updates recommended. He manages to download all updates,

and then he tries to configure these. About 98% or 99%, it gives the following message:

'Configuration of the Windows updates, changes back failure'

It then goes in an infinite loop constantly, he ran for hours and hours without having passed this screen.

So far, the only solution is to reset it to factory settings, which brings me to the point before that I try to update, so it is not move me.

I've tried so far, but no luck what follows:

None of them has worked so far.

    To be clear:

It is an OEM license. This doesn't mean no DISC, nor any ISO/Exe could work that they do not accept the product key.

Many other people have the same problem.

Please, I'm at a loss to date.

    Yours Sincerely,

    Leon

    Hi all

Seems that I myself have found a potential workaround.

Install only the KB2871389 allowed me to grab the download of Windows the Windows store 8.1.

Then, I could install Windows 8.1 without a hitch and it normally seems using Windows Updater runs from there on.

It is not yet a waterproof solution to water / final of 100%, but it seems to work for me.

I hope this will help someone else with the same problem!

    Yours Sincerely,

    Leon

It took a while, so I had to turn it off, but he returned to the screen, same problem all the time. It does change a bit.

  • Windows 8 could not apply updates, changes, without system restart

Hi, I have a question for the community. I inherited laptop family which had been neglected for a year or two, and the user only became interested in this topic when it became virtually unusable. Usually, I have no problem to fix things, but this one left me speechless. I am preparing him to be his main portable College. All answers are appreciated! Thank you.

    The problem

    1. The first thing I did was clean reallyyyy good. The anti-virus scanner found and quarantined 17 virus, and 74 infected files and those isolated thus found malware scanner. I did two of each type of scan, and he showed clean. So I don't know, I work with a system bug free.
    2. Then I went to Windows Update and saw that there were 102 important updates waiting to be installed. I laughed pretty hard and then install them. There is no problem downloading or installation of updates, and it prompted me to restart my computer.
    3. After the restart, he said briefly that he was applying updates. And then he said: "failure Configuring Windows Updates. Changes in recovery', and he stays on this screen for nearly an hour and let me finally reconnect.
    4. To ebb in Windows Update, it has installed updates not listed as 'Impossible '.

    What I tried

    1. The tool for troubleshooting Windows 8 "online, Mr. Fix it."
    2. Online draft and the installation of the Windows update that updates the Windows Update program (I don't have the number on me, but I can pick up if necessary)
    3. Installation of a few at a time
    4. Only install the update as soon as possible
    5. Update of article 8.1; He won't let me not until I install the remaining updates, which I am obviously unable to do

    Systems specifications

    • HP laptop
    • Windows 8.0
    • 30 months of age
    • Zero, a hardware or software issues that are known (in addition to Windows Update)
    • Processor i3

What can I do? I did the basic troubleshooting steps, and I thought before that I really jack he is trying obscure solutions I should post LOL. Thank you!!!

Thanks for your help. All those who came negative, and I decided to re install windows 8.

And after adding only two programs of installing the base, YET the the DO COULD NOT.

Of course, here, I could see that he had to now be one of the two programs, Google Chrome and Comodo Antivirus.

It turns out that these errors were caused by a misconfigured firewall and an excess of zeal, even if my comodo firewall with the same settings on Windows 7 had no problems.

But apparently, it considers that the program Windows Update in Windows 8 is a bit sketchy haha.

A simple rule change fixed it! Thank you.

  • Counselor says that I can run Windows 7. Installation stops and says hardware not compatible. All advice appreciated.

Go to the last part of the installation, the installation stops and returns to Windows Vista. Receive the message "hardware not compatible". How can I find the material that is causing the problem?

    Hi, Jerry,.

    Uninstall your antivirus software

Tips for solving common problems when Windows 7 won't install troubleshooting

    1. start Windows Upgrade Advisor to see if there are known issues that might affect the installation and correct them.
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/downloads/Upgrade-Advisor

2 disable any security software: anti-virus, firewall etc. Don't forget to activate the Afterwords.
3 make sure that your computer has the BIOS and latest drivers. Update of the BIOS can be risky, don't do that if nothing else works.
    4. disconnect all external devices except the keyboard and mouse before installing.
    5. If using a video card and the computer has integrated video use and remove the video card.
6 unplug the computer from the internet, if you have wireless disable.
    7. RAM (memory) - reduce the amount of RAM. 1 GB if 32-bit installation, 2 GB for 64-bit, then replace RAM if the upgrade was successful. If you added new RAM make sure it is also compatible.
    8. If you have several hard drives remove all except the one that you install Windows 7, and then replace it after Windows 7 is installed.
    9. If you have downloaded Windows 7 and it burned a DVD test burn again at the slowest speed possible. It is also possible the download may have errors, you can try to download it again.
    10. If you click 'Upgrade' to start the installation make sure that you take a supported upgrade path. You can't make a square by update: type A) XP to Windows 7, B) fuse change - 32 to 64-bit, C) change languages, D) decommissioning editions ex: Vista of the month last 7 Pro, or E) Vista Home Pro 7.

    11. check your RAM (memory) to find errors. Can take a long time, don't make that if nothing else has worked.
    (A) Insert the Windows 7 DVD and restart the computer.
    (B) start from the Windows 7 DVD.
    (C) select your language, and then click Next.
    (D) click on "repair your computer" then select the operating system to fix it.
    (E) click on the link of the Memory Diagnostics in the system recovery menu.
    (F) the computer will restart and your memory is checked for errors.

    12 turn off startup programs:
    (A) click Start, type MSCONFIG in the search box and press ENTER.
OK the authorization of user account control and password if necessary
If you are using XP: click Start, run, and type: MSCONFIG and click OK.
    (B) on the general tab, click Selective startup.
    (C) just below the selective startup, clear the checkbox "Load Startup items".
    (D) click the Services tab, check "Hide all Microsoft Services", and then click Disable all.
    (E) click OK, and then restart the computer.
    (F) try the upgrade again.

(NOTE: If the upgrade fails and you continue to use your rear security software, then also go back into MSCONFIG and under the general Tower XP/Vista tab, click "Normal startup", and then click OK to exit.)
