Default Destination Hostname of Agent Insight Insight of 3.3 Journal log

Open a default Destination Hostname session prepares the officer of the 3.3 Insight Insight journal to "lol.eng.vmware.com" for me. 3.0 it used to LOGINSIGHT as a default value. Is - is this expected? I find annoying because I now have to write a script to set the configuration defaults to...

Note: doesn't happen until AFTER that deployment began or joined.

Yes today ' today - support for logging to self-determination is planned for a future release.

  • Log Agent Insight - tracking logs files / pick up where he leaves?

    Hello

I want to check that the Agent Insight of the newspaper (Linux in my case) actually 'catch up' after a restart of the service liagnetd or a server restart.  It seems to follow the current logfile against operational records, that the agent uses.  Please let me know if this is the case, or if my assumptions are false.

    Thank you

    Pete Boguszewski

You are right, as soon as the officer first finds a file, it will begin to collect in the next event and will always watch where it stopped and will catch up if anything interrupts collection.

  • My Documents: A way to stop this, to be the default destination?

Whenever I want to record something XP 64 bits by default in My Documents.  It's lame as it isn't even a place, just a shortcut.  Its nothing.  And its buried in countless subfolders.  So is it possible to get my system of brain damage if nothing else?  How Windows developers could choose this system, it is mind-boggling.  Who wants a destination which is really nothing?

Well, while I can see some of your arguments, I think other aspects of your difficult to fathom messages.

To some extent, Microsoft agree with you. That's why on Vista and Windows 7, the folder structure is now (by default)

    C:\Users\\Documents

There are now separate folders for other types of document (not subfolders of the Documents)...

    C:\Users\\Contacts

    C:\Users\\Desktop

    C:\Users\personal

    C:\Users\\Favorites

    C:\Users\\Links

    C:\Users\\Music

    C:\Users\\Pictures

    C:\Users\\Videos

    C:\Users\\Saved games

    C:\Users\\Searches

For me, XP and Vista/7 structures are logical and I do not see why oppose you, especially having in mind that you can change this structure to be what you want it to be. If the application developers do not provide the customization you would like that is not the problem of Microsoft (unless you're talking about office of course).

Personally I don't see what the problem with the shortcuts as they are the ones you create for yourself or those integrated.

On XP there are subfolders under My Documents that also have shortcuts for my music and my pictures, and my videos that would normally be the default locations for apps that work on this particular file type. The fact that they have been moved to the top level on Vista/7 is not important for me.

The Documents and Settings folder is not just a place for the default My Documents folder, it's a place for a lot of other information 'by user', i.e. information and the parameters which can vary among users of any given PC.

If you don't like it (or the structure of Vista/7) my only suggestion is to have a Word with your local Apple store and see if you like how they do things.

  • How can I change the default destination for 'add to library' (command-o)?

'Add to library' always by default is the my documents folder, when virtually everything I want to add to iTunes is in my music folder. Y at - it a terminal command that I can use to always direct command-o in my music folder instead? Thank you.

In an ideal world what you add to iTunes would be stored in the iTunes Media folder, and nothing in the iTunes Media folder would be connected to the library. Maybe it would be easier to drag and drop the content that you want to add to the library to add it automatically in the folder iTunes, or place it in the media folder and drag it to the interface of iTunes.

  • Default destination for downloads

I used to be able to set a default file for downloads. Now, they seem to go anywhere. Can I fix?

    Hello

You want to change the default location for downloads.

Please answer the following questions for better understanding.

    1. What version of web browser do you use?
    2. What exactly happens when you do the same today?

If you use Internet Explorer 8, then in Internet Explorer 8 when you download files, Windows usually saves in the downloads folder, which is located under your user name in the users folder on the drive where Windows is installed (for example, C:\users\your namepersonal). When you save the file, you can choose to save it in a different folder. By default, some file types are saved in different folders. For example, if you right click on an image on a Web page and choose Save the image as in the menu, the image will be saved in the default pictures folder. If you don't know where the file has been saved, you can search for it in the start menu.

  • How to change default destination for the files to be imported?

How can I tell LR to import to a new destination disk? I found a similar issue for LR 3 a couple of years, that says in the import dialog box choose the destination. This doesn't seem to be there now. In any case, I want LR to import into the new destination all the time, not only as a one-off. My HD is full and I can't keep moving the files manually. Thanks for any help!

You can change the import (copy, move, add...) path at the top of the import dialog box.  When "Add", the destination panle is hidden, because it means that you come to 'Add' descriptions of the photos to the catalog and do not touch the pictures.

  • Log Insight event channel - default behavior record

Once a Windows Server has an Agent Insight of the journal deployed and configured and the system, Application and safety chains are monitored it sends all events generated on the server to Log Insight?  My guess is Yes, but for some events generated on the server I can't find in a search on the server Insight journal.

As Marc mentioned, it's all by default. If you believe that the e-mail are missing, take a look at the page/admin/agents to see if the drops are reported.

  • What happens in newspapers if the Log Insight Server is down or if the agent Log Insight Windows isn't able to commmunicate with Insight Server logs

If the agent Log Insight Windows is not able to communicate with the Insight logs server because of a network problem or Log Insight Server is down, what will happen in the logs on the computer monitors which agent?

Are newspapers sent again to the server where it didn't the last time?

Is the frequency at which the windows agent sends the data to the server? Is - that, as soon as the agent believes that any changes in the log files, it is followed are sent or any interval of time is used by the agent.

And what is the amount(size) of the data windows agent sends to the server by calling?

    Thanks in advance.

    Kind regards

    Mohan G

1.) agent implements cache storage - default to 200 MB, but can be increased up to 2 GB. Once the cache is full, the agent will drop newspapers.

(2.) all that is in the cache is sent

3.) very close in real time and similar to other agents of syslog. Some batches is low, more the cfapi sends the compressed events

4.) for cfapi depends on, but less than syslog. For syslog, identical to syslog so typically around 170 to 200 bytes. If you are looking for bandwidth calculation see: http://sflanders.net/2014/08/20/log-insight-calculator/

  • Log Insight (v3.0.1) Linux Agent Install on VCSA v6?

Documentation has information contradictory to decide or not to install the Agent of Linux Journal Insight on a version to 6U1 vCenter device.

Within the Insight v3.0.1 journal the following statement indicates the Agent Insight of the newspaper must be installed:

In the documentation of Log Insight 3.0 the following shows it takes to just install the syslog server in vCenter to transmit to the server of Log Insight.  No mention of the version of vCenter and no mention of the installation of the Agent of the Linux Journal Insight on the vCSA.

So I turn to google, which only adds to the confusion...

William Lam blog «a glimpse of native syslog support in VCSA 6.0» presents Preview setup of vCSA version 6 transfer of syslog logs and Log Insight.

However, Steve Flanders blog ' newspaper the Agent: Linux Configurations for Common Applications " refers to the installation of the Agent of Linux Journal Insight.

Anyone would provide clarification?  Is there a better method of practice?  If the Agent installation is the best practice that the agent provides on the native syslog in vCSA v6U1?

    Thanks in advance!

Two books - the goal is just to get syslog to LI. The reason why LI says that you must use the agent is that vSphere content pack, and more particularly the dashboard "vCenter Server - Application" requires that the agent is stopped working. If you use syslog-ng, you will always receive the events, but this dashboard vSphere content pack will not work. I hope this helps!

  • Help - LI running, but get Apache2 Ubuntu default page while trying to access the Web interface of log insight

    Hello

I installed the Log Insight 2.5 VM via vCenter Server ESXi 5, 5. I was able to deploy the virtual computer successfully and you can see the network through VAPP Options settings. (Attached picture - TIME settings).

    Question:

Unable to access LI web Interface. While trying to access the Web interface, I get 'Apache2 Ubuntu by default Page' (img attachment). Insight of the newspaper runs and opens the web application on port 80.

    Newspapers, controlled far-

    status of /etc/init.d/loginsight

    Open a session running Insight

    Attached image Loginsight2-DURATION - file /storage/core/loginsight/var/runtime.log

    # sh li - cassandra.sh - status

    SH: li-cassandra-sh: not found

Check if the tcp 80 port is open through the netstat command. Yes, it is open.

Telnet on port 80, it says connection and crashes. Image attached - telnet-LI

Able to ping the IP address successfully.

How can I check http logs on console LI?

I would really appreciate response to this soon. I'm working on installation LI for more than a week and struggling to get through this way.

    Thank you

    Radhika

I believe that you with the configuration, but I tell you that the configured IP address and the IP you hit in your browser are not still the same IP, Log Insight does not work on Ubuntu, so you hit another system. To prove this, connect you to the console of the Insight newspaper and run:

    # cat/etc/SuSE - release

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 (x86_64)

    VERSION = 11

    PATCHLEVEL = 2

You will see that you are running SuSE to see a Ubuntu screen tells me that you have an IP address duplicate in your environment and you hit a node that is not an Insight newspaper. I hope this helps!

  • Log InSight can work with Cisco Catalyst and Nexus devices?

  • Conversion to the Insight Journal

A few questions on the conversion of the journal storage to record an overview

-Is it possible to install Log Insight and start sending newspapers host ESXi insight in the newspaper, but also keep the copy on the local host at the same time?  In other words write each log entry to the local host and Log Insight?

-What are the caviats to make the change?  I want to ensure that the transition is smooth so that no newspaper is lost, if there is a hitch in the installation program.  Is there a risk here?

-If you only write newspapers for ESXi hosts to the server log insight, what happens when the log insight server goes down?  Are the default logs rerouted to the local host so that you don't miss info journal by a failure that affects the server logs insight?

ESX/ESXi supports local and remote syslog. Information on how to configure each are available here: http://kb.vmware.com/kb/2003322. The recommendation is always to set up local syslog and remotely for you sure have a copy of the data. There is no caveat of using syslog remote except a known bug that remote syslog can stop working on some version of ESXi (5.0 and 5.0U1 on each version 5.0 and 5.1 on TCP and UDP). By default, local syslog is always configured, however if the workspace is not configured correctly on the ESXi set host might be lost on reboot. Take a look at the article, it should describe what you need.
