  I can't scan with a Deskjet Ink Advantage 2060.

  IMac bought 3 months ago (Mountain Lion 10.8.2).  Operations to scan and print on my Officejet Pro 8600 (N911A) worked well.  Also knitted for laptop with Windows XP.  I had never installed any software for this printer on either computer graphics since it was recognized and worked on both computers.

  Today, I downloaded what I thought, it was the last version of the software for the officejet on the iMac.  Now, I get an error message when I try to scan: "Scanner reported an error an error occurred when communicating with the scanner."

  The printer works from the iMac printing and scanning for the Windows computer.  I'm NOT using the wireless options.  Computers and the printer are connected through the router.

  I'm confused about the version of my scanning software as indicated in my computer I have version 3.6.0 and I think there's more recent versions for the iMac.  I followed the instructions to get the latest version.

  Shortly after posting the above concerns, iMac has announced updates that were available for my computer.  One of them includes an HP upgrade.  I had downloaded them and installed.

  Now my scanner works from the iMac and I also OCR which is what I was looking for when I did the initial upgrade earlier in the day.

  Interesting that the scanner still shows version 3.6.0.  That's fine with me.

  3. make sure that the service is running. Click on stop and then restart to ensure

  Restart the services of dependencies:
  1. Click Start, in the search box type "services" without the quotes.
  2. scroll down until you see Windows Image Acquisition (WIA).
  3. double click on it and go to the Dependencies tab.
  4-2 services must be listed.
  5. close this window and look for the remote procedure call (RPC).
  6. make sure it's on manual or if it is enabled automatically, just leave it. Make sure the service is started.

  I guess, you have two options left:

  1 restore your system to an earlier date or,

  2. the harsh: reimage your system.

  Next time, run with 'recommended' elevation, update your system with the .NET components, including Windows Installer (msiexec), off virus scan, etc.

  Some info:

  The PSC shows that it is connected to the computer and I checked the connections and everything is physically connected. I also update the PSC. Then I started from scratch - unplugged everything related to the CFP and also deleted the previous PSC software installed on the computer. Then I plugged in the printer and re-downloaded software. Tested to request a scan of the PSC and it worked - double checked by stop and to remit all running and I tried to request a scan of the PSC again and it worked again. So, it seemed to be a combination of renewal with Windows 10 and setting up of the PSC from scratch, to solve this, at least for me. Thanks for your patience! I don't think something regarding my download Windows 10 had something to do with mess up the signal from the PSC to the computer and I had to put fresh once again.
