  I'm changing the default installation on my computer directory.  I looked at the number of threads here that cover the topic.  I go to regedit and follow this path: 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion' but I can't find the value 'ProgramFilesDir.' "  It's on Windows 7, 64-bit.

  Your much more course using the option 'tailor-made' for each program you want to install. Most of the applications have this option. Change the system variable or the registry entry can cause other issues, you may not like.

The default path points or C:\Program Files (x 86) C:\Program but my company created a new folder directory outside the Program Files directories for several executable programs.   Typically, you leave the default installation path is.

  Show you the paths are for 64 bit & 32 bit programs, more often that it is senseless to do otherwise.

  You can change the location, but I strongly suggest do not use space when you use a different name

  Example:
  Use D:\My_Database\xxx

  Don't use D:\My Database\xxx

  Backward compatibility is not really cut it in my mind - all worthy of their name DBA would close the holes or explicitly favorable privileges with eyes wide open. I think that, since they are listed as critical, it would be simply documented and closed by default - possibly with a script to reopen, just like the ' CONNECT/RESOURCES/DBA' roles have been processed (finally).

  I have a problem with the realtek HD audio driver in Windows 7 Pro x 64. My audio is an integrated sound card Realtek HD (realtek alc660 6-channel codec) on motherboard, Asus k8v - vm SE. Fresh after installation of Windows 7, it installs its default HD audio driver and says, it works (in the Device Manager it says, that the device works properly), but in the list of devices in reading (in the speaker system tray icon menu) there is no peripheral, so finally there is no noise. There is no problem, given that Realtek has its own drivers for Win7 x 64 available, which work just fine (ver. 2.39 R at the moment). The problem is that, after every single boot computer, Windows installs back its own drivers by default, which as I have already said do not work. The curious part is that it does not retrieve them after reboot, but only after the turn of market.

  I think the problem lies in the fact that Realtek drivers are not certified, and the MS drivers are of course. I think that Windows is to choose the latter, because it believes they are safer (workin Realtek & non certified drivers vs MS pseudo-travail & certified drivers).

  Someone has suggestions how to stop the installation of defective Win7 drivers? Installation of those appropriate to each boot is not very practical.

  1. the first solution didn't work, but it made me realize, that the pilot was not recovering but it was deleted and then recovered with the standard procedure (certified drivers > uncertified drivers). In addition, it was everything at random, when the driver has been deleted - sometimes it worked very well after stop and sometimes not.
  2. second solution can be followed only partially. Can I uninstall the device, but I cannot uninstall the Windows driver (maybe because the system is assuming that MS is the most trusted provider). Of course, I am able to uninstall third-party drivers, but I'm not ready to delete the driver from Realtek (I tried this however).

  3 following the first solution that I found, that Windows still prefer certified above drivers is not certified. So I came up with an idea to remove the default window driver and disable the function of downloading drivers from Windows Update. It was quite tricky, because I found, I have (the administrator of the system without restriction) am not able to even list the driver file (c:\Windows\System32\drivers\HdAudio.sys), not to mention the actual deletion of the file. It's funny that I managed to the list by using the search function, but I was not yet able to delete, so I rebooted a LiveCD and deleted from there. I also removed copies of the folder in the places, where Windows Update downloads. After that it seems to work fine now.

  4. I suggest Microsoft to release a fix or sth, that will not Windows 7 install the default driver for this particular unit, since it does not work. Or allow users to decide which drivers they prefer to use - even is not certified, because it may not be an isolated case, when a certified driver is not of works, but a certified, does not it is preferred and used. Or force the producers to certify their drivers somehow.

My question is on the amendment of other values such as CommonFilesDir, CommonW6432Dir, ProgramW6432Dir?

  The registry hack option is not supported by MS and can cause other problems.

  If any program you are wanting to install has the option to install in a directory of your choice, use it.

  Even if you select another drive of files will be written to the drive to victory

  Some programs cannot be custom installed and it will install on victory drive.

  Basically if you use an ssd that is less than 128 GB its probably too small

  Libraries can be found on another drive

  Means - a patch full-file failed because the source was necessary

  Provide the installation media or download the full SP2 and try to install the update.

  If you download the full SP2, you can burn disc and reuse if you ever need to reinstall Office.

• HP OfficeJet 150 - default Installation Installer

  Hi all! I ran out of options and in desperation mode.

  I bought a portable printer HP OfficeJet 150 to pair with my laptop Dell XPS12 while I'm away at work. Unfortunately, the day I #3 and I can't get the installer to complete the installation drivers and programs needed to make the printer print and scan. "Unpack" itself when I try to run the installer, it does nothing after that. I tried to use the disc that came with the printer, as well as the full program file which can be downloaded from the HP website. Installs the Setup file and the printer works fine on my daughter's laptop that also run 8.1 in 64-bit Windows, this isn't a cable problem, software or print. I went as far as removing the antivirus McAfee delivered program pre-loaded on the laptop and tried to install it, but has always failed. I lived two levels of support by Dell as their XPS and divisions of the printer, as well as two levels of HP support on three occasions. In the end, each company pointing the finger to the other company, so I'm stuck in a void that I can't get.

  Please, anyone else have any suggestions? I'm all out of ideas and really need this problem is resolved.

  Solution: My laptop being less than two months, I decided to try reinstalling Windows, since it's the only thing that had not yet been tried. After saving my work files, I went through the process of reinstalling Windows 8.1 long enough and then tried to load HP OfficeJet 150 installation software. It worked!

  After so many failed attempts by three different at HP technicians and two at Dell, I think that the problem was actually caused by the first HP technician because it crossed my registry and deleted and changed the number of entries. The third HP technician, however, pointed out that my McAfee Firewall was probably the problem early. Disable the firewall was a step that no other technician had already tried, until she made the day #3. Had I finished with the third HP technician in the first place, this debacle could probably have been avoided.

  Nevertheless, the problem is now resolved and I can use the printer for portability to work, which is exactly what I needed to accomplish.

  Now, I try to set up a Bluetooth connection. Wish me luck!

• How to change the default installation for MS Reader in Windows 10

  So I have all my settings for applications (on windows) changed to where I want Acrobat Reader DC, but the installer always puts on my C drive (with no option to change the installation location). I would like to have it on my D drive. I don't see a framework to achieve this. Am I missing something or do I have to learn to deal with it on my C drive? Any help is greatly appreciated.

  Last year I had been making a blue screen of death for awhile and purchased on this site a for my model of laptop recovery disk. Turns out I didn't need to use it as it was a problem with Mcafee.
  However only 6 months later my phone started playing, windows crashing, blue screen, etc.

  I thought I would use the recovery to clean everything and start from scratch because it isn't really anything to moderate on my laptop. I followed the instructions on the screen and drive recovery has begun, however he was only gone the way through and then he said he didn't. Translated by Lalonde having no o/s or anything like that.

  I tried the disk recovery again and agin, but lack of care.

  I don't really know where I'm going from here. My laptop is a little over 1 year and I have been over £30 for recovery disk!

  Have you already tried to install an OS on another drive? You can use a Microsoft Windows disk to install Windows. Maybe it will work, and in this case, only the recovery disc isn t working properly (scratched or something else).

  If the Microsoft disk doesn t work too, I guess that it s a hardware malfunction. That's why to contact a service provider allowed. They can check your laptop.

  I found the solution for this problem. Now my Windows memory diagnostic runs. Solutions if you encounter a windows key on the back of your laptop, then upgrade your existing windows with the same install an example of disk: If at the back of the laptop, Windows 7 Home Prem OA how it printed then do a windows 7 Home Premium 64/32-bit with upgrade of the disk of installing SP1 windows without using the Express upgrade and tool when you have finished enter your key provided at the back of the laptop. This update will replace all startup files and Windows files. Now check the memtest or Windows memory diagnostics, it should work... !!
